owobokiri:But you know the 'Sweden' and 'Norway' are better run countries with more prosperous people than the US. So who won"t prioritise wealth when you are in need also. Will you invite paupers to your fundraiser or illiterates to your book launch. When the US was fighting country after country for trade share to bridge their deficit and rampaging debts, cutting jobs closing departments and freezing aid what did your think they were doing, saving money to spend on needy immigrants? Trump made it clear before day one that his policy was America first. You badly want to live there then make hay and a Trump Gold card awaits. They are tired of explorers and exploiters. |
LagosOrigin:I know one like that. Was a vocal supporter of the Buhari regime on radio in Abuja back in the day. Understand he is now in Canada. If you seriously believe that the country is headed in the right direction to becoming prosperous and great, why seek to start all over in an alien land. Fact is they don't. |
Maybe there is a town in Ghana called Portugal just as there is a town in Portugal called Lagos.... ![]() |
I don't understand. Didn't they file a flight plan before leaving. You don't over fly a country without permission thoughtless of seeking to land. Anyway the logical and sensible thing has been done. A diplomatic solution. It doesn't diminish Nigeria or accord Burkina Faso any superiority. |
I am solidly behind you on this Mr. President. And it will be one of the boldest reforms ever undertaken by government in the history of this country. It is not an easy thing for an entity, the federal government in this case to vacate the absolute authority of the gun to sub national institutions that were hitherto considered subservient particularly when there are apparently very powerful interests prventing this. |
Another rubbished legacy. They are all over the nation, like the rusting hulks of battle damaged weaponry. Like carcasses of treasure laden sunken ships littering the sea floor. They had sold their souls. Gained food, raiment and all worldly riches. But the only thing they will be remembered by the vast majority people is a sad tale of stolen promises. |
NiRfreak:Ha.....Asbestos Is that thing still in existence. It is banned worldwide. Abeg oh. Don't buy death and fix it over your head. |
We4all:Ordinarily PVC should potentially be a serious alternative but quality and variety is seriously lacking here in this country. The fact is that home decor and interior design industry is a sellers market. Importers and merchants and not architects, craftsmen and decorators dictate what is available locally and this in my opinion is a big let down. It is customization, variety and artistry that drives people to instal gypsum ceilings. |
Only now is it clear what the whole issue was about. And they couldn't simply explain this to the Nigerian public or the Burkinabe Civil Aviation Authority ahead of the mission. Very poor organisation. |
LegendHero:When people own people what is that called... This is supposed to be a democracy, the ultimate stage of a man's liberties. Here it is a cattle market. Blacks now buying and selling consciences for food, shelter and raiment.... Long, long, long way to go. |
So this lady is still in office. Has gone completely silent. Not good enough representation. |
What will they say Germany has done to them now.... Yes, they will dig up something from antiquity, from thousands of years ago, from the time of the Kaisers to justify violence towards people they don't even know. |
Vilgax:Well that still explains why Nigeria is like this. Little logic and poor analytical skills. You don't have to look far. Stay on this forum for a couple of hours and understand why we don't feature at all. |
dederocs:When I say State and Local government police is the only way, people scoff at it. It is getting clearer by the day that there is an agenda and I dare say an expansionist agenda by some elements in this country that see indigenous security as a threat. We are not ready to "Federate' this country. And at he rate we are going we will end up a fiefdom, a nation of sectarian rule and ownership. The United States obviously has information they are withholding about underground schemes of territorial subjugation. Since it's pronouncements the killings on the eastern flanks of the country from Plateau through Nassarawa to Benue has gone silent. A coincidence? But has erupted across the mid to west belt. Coincidence? Now this. There is an agenda. This is beyond criminality. Nigerians should wake up and demand for the security of there homelands. The trust of the centre as a neutral partner in serious doubt. People should ask for the police they themselves will control to protect themselves. |
What a mess. What an outrage. Who will see these folks in the bush or on the highways and not think they are bandits. Many of them will end up being killed by security forces, many will be killed by mob action. If a whole government, a whole Federal government CANNOT constitute proper subnational security institutions but chooses to arm ragtag elements under whatever guise, the problem will only escalate. Just sorry for this country. |
The question still remains. What was an Air force transport doing over the Burkina airspace. Where was it going. On what mission? These are the questions the media should ask. |
treesun:We know na. It is audible to the deaf and visible to the blind. Salaries and pensions are not being paid on time. Their army of contractors are being owed left, right and centre. In Abuja there is a scattering of unfinished and abandoned looking projects. It is a structural problem. A failure to invest FIRST in income generating enterprises which after two years will have started to to return resources to government. They depended heavily on borrowings but that is becoming too expensive and on taxes and elevated tariffs which are counterproductive as consumption has tanked. Even the projections from the 2026 tax net are bound to fall short of expectations simply because the cow that is not fed well cannot produce much milk. Spend wisely oh yeah profligate Federal government. Invest, invest, invest rather than waste, waste, waste. |
Focusmind:What 'kudos' is that. They have all that 'technical ability' to find errors in other teams and federations but donot have a simple, functional technical department or director to supervise the coaches of the teams to bring out the best tournament planning thoughtless of football development as a whole. Are they football administrators in that FA hq or constitutional lawyers. Abeg, the one they did against SAF is enough before they bring unnecessary angst against our teams whenever they travel for future tournaments abroad. It is North Africans that are well known for all these hostile corner corner 'win at all costs' behaviour. We didn't do well, period. Retreat, lick your wounds and plan well for the future, not constitute a nuisance in the corridors of CAF and FIFA. Very shameful for a so called giant of Africa and ex powerhouse of the continental game. |
If Congo qualified for the Nations Cup I wonder what will happen if we meet at any stage. |
Salewa97:Of course it is not important to government. But it is important to Banditry PLC. Continue playing games. |
TheBizGenius:But the NMPDRA (am I right?) says it resumed the issuance of import licenses when scarcity began to emerge after it suspended same for two months sometime in October, I think. The origin of all this argument is whether Dangote can sustainably satisfy the local market which is still disputed. |
Redoil:Funny man. Someone should define hunger again for you. Okay, let me try. Hunger is when your fuel pump start to make noise because your tank is empty....brrrrrr.....brrrrr.... Then you know it is about to burn... ![]() |
nairalanda1:Let us see how the Chinese handle him. That battle is yet to emerge. |
nairalanda1:No na. He is a market maker in the cement industry. He has won all his battles there and subdued all competition. His major competitor Lafarge couldn't compete and promptly exited. When Dangote made a statement (abroad and before a world audience for that matter) saying, Nigeria's national refineries will never work, as a citizen and consumer, I began to have a rethink about this whole refining drama. |
nairalanda1:But don't you think if Dangote fights this hard against fuel imports via the regulator, he is sending a signal to those refineries in the pipeline (no pun intended) that he is also prepared to railroad them. Don't you think by this latest urgency he is trying to beat the opposition in series (facing one at a time) to avoid having to battle competition in parallel, that is, on two or three fronts simultaneously. Can you remember that this almost happened in the telecoms sector at the outset. Two things helped the situation then and made way for the relative success in that sector today. One, strong, ethical regulatory oversite. Two, the demise of the national carrier. |
malali:Hmmm....indeed we all know where this is going. But things have to be done the right way. It is a question of coming to equity. It is one of the key attributes of being a judge or a referee. Your life is an open book. It is not a job for everyone. You cannot run a successful restaurant as a glutton. |
malali:Hahaha...this man. You sure say you no be the Mr.Farouk in the flesh.... ..Any way it is true. It will be funny to flee from one prison only to run into another. Because it is almost inevitable that whoever wins this battle will enslave everyone else. |
Very classy. Consumate professional and dedicated lover of the game in Nigeria. Wish him the best in his future endeavours. Perhaps someday with additional competencies he can find himself in football administration because all the ingredients of a servant are in there. |
Where are the Senators and Representatives of the good people of the FCT. This is their function. The people don't have to fight anyone. Just call an audience with their representatives to lay their complaints. They are GOVERNMENT. They have the authority to speak to the judiciary and the Executive on an EQUAL partner basis and in other climes they carry A LOT of clout and seriously influence where power goes in the polity. In other climes the Executive does not play games with them. Look, Nigerians will CONTINUE TO SUFFER needlessly as long as they don't know how to WORK this democracy. First, if we don't insist in the CLEAR separation of powers so that no one arm overpowers the others. Such that we deal with the Executive when they trample on the Judiciary or Legislature. We deal with the Judiciary when they try to subvert the rule of the Executive or Legislature and deal with the Legislature when they seek to drive an agenda outside Executive will and law and order. We play one against the other to hold them in a power flux. But no. Our feudal mindset lends itself to autocracy. We want all power bestowed on one arm of government and by extension one man in the Head of State, so when he has subdued and we happen to find ourselves on the wrong side of favour, there is no one to run to. We say we want 'cooperation' in government not 'confrontation'.... this is the result. The brakes of government are now cooperating with the throttle. Unfortunately we have reached a bend in the road and need to slow down but... Is this wisdom in citizenship. Sorry oh, but it is alleged that the FCT head also has the judiciary on lockdown so.... |
CrownedPhoenix:And the fact that no two Nigerians sing from the same hymn sheet on basic matters of life, morality and decent living is the fuel for bad governance. There are too many cracks in society for crooked leaders and public officials to hide in like roaches and attach themselves to like leeches. Only restructuring can change that. We simply have to sit around a table as Nigerians, negotiate and decide what makes for decency, what is acceptable behaviour and how we want to get from where we are to where we agree is real development. |
richiemcgold:That is the paradox called Nigeria. So you can now understand our problems in this country. You dare point them out and you become enemy number one. So the rot is allowed to fester. Here in Abuja you see career civil servants build estates paid for in cash, serving and retired military men buying 100, 200 million naira houses and some folks here just yesterday were saying the examination of 'lifestyle' as an anti corruption tool in this country is wrong. Does this not amount to a complete surrender to the forces of corruption. No where in the political world of democracy are public officers given the benefit of doubt by citizens, even the best run, prosperous countries. |
Wotowotoman:Exactly. So when people call out individuals in government or institutions of government for perceived failures and injustices it does not amount to 'hatred' or 'demarketing', rather they are the conflicts that build and develop nations. Because no two Nigerians today will agree whether taking action or not in matters like that of Dangote v the regulator is good for the image of the country. Some are even desirous to have the whole thing swept under and hushed over, band-aiding a septic wound. |
