Nteogwuija:The circumstances so that measures can be taken to forestall future occurrences. Whether there were other people directy or indirectly involved and should be held liable. Many reasons investigations have to be conducted. |
HacheNoire:This is very insensitive. At the very least just let such responses go. The man is there partly on the promise to end such tragedies. So it is a leadership debt he owes the citizens and a responsibility that towers above most things. Above all consider lives and livelihoods sacred. It is humane to do so. You cannot argue against that. |
benardtotti:Naso. Ask the Athenians and Spartans what happened when they killed the envoys sent by Darius, the king of kings... You are asking people who cannot defend themselves to apprehend messengers... |
Clearly the momentum is with City and it is 'likely' they will pip Arsenal to the tape. I look at small details and mix them in with age old truisms. And a poignant one I observed in the latest round of matches lead to my conclusion. Indeed: 'Attacks win matches, defenses win trophies' Arsenal has seen a steady decline in the quality of it's defence over the course of the season, increasingly conceding avoidable goals and in the last match the stalwart of that defence, Gabriel himself appeared very jittery. It is the sign of the times. Pressure to perform. City on the other hand has addressed their defensive problems a d looked at lot steadier is their last match. They have a better quality balance between scoring goals and keeping them out and with their experi nce of winning things the momentum is clearly on their side. |
hotwax:And where does it say that government has the right to tap the phones of private citizens. Without judicial approval that is a felony in sane, non authoritarian societies. But here those in authority use it freely for all sorts of mischievous reasons and to further their political ends. It is almost certain most of the serious political opponents and heavyweight activists have their phone lines tapped. It is a sordid game they play and no one is innocent on any side of the argument. |
Powerful in everything except what matters, good governance. Now that the APC is fully in charge of politics, institutions of government and have amassed a large number of followers, rhee is no looking back to blame anyone else. By 2031 it will be 16 unbroken years of APC rule and we will have a clear basis of comparison. |
Nigerians are not bothered about this. They are on the other thread berating the leader of another country on his policy towards illegal aliens and criminals over running his country. We appear comfortable with ours and prefer our sense of tribe and religion over citizenship and internal security. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to deduce that much of the criminal governance we see like on this thread is conducted by non Nigerians wandering across our porous borders and taking up our citizenship. The only immigration documents they need is the language they speak. |
Atletico played so poorly last time around v Betis Doesn't look good for them versus a rampaging Barca. |
When you love your leaders unequivocally you give them a ticket to treat you with contempt. Nigeria doesn't have a tax problem. It has a governance responsibility problem. More tax, more irresponsible behavioir. A senator was pictured in a compromising and financially irresponsible position. Instead of resigning in shame, he was in a committee screening the budget of the Executive. |
neonly:Exactly what I am saying. We just donot know how to cultivate decent, progressive societies. |
Very easy. 1. Structure internal security. 2. Plain clothes policing. 3. Sting operations. The issue will die down in no time. In this part of the world where individualism is so rampant and there are scant horizontal relationships organising decent living, working and business spaces is like rocket science. We seem so comfortable in making our environment rough, loud, hot and unbearable. Pure chaos theory at work. |
Mr. Oyedele will get the memo. |
Exousiang01:But there is a thing in arithmetic called AVERAGE and it is used everyday in everything virtually everywhere. When you are asked how much a Toyota Camry costs you can give an estimate that is reflectIve of where, when or how you stand. What you quote is an average that has a fair degree of variance. That road has a cost which includes compensation, engineering works and all the associated costs divided by the length, simple. He should know that before laying metre of concrete except he is saying the cost of that project is open ended and they will just be working till it is over. Not to know how much such a huge, important project done by a whole nation that is under economic stress, is the depth of poor governance. No one does this and no one should accept this. If it was your personal money being spent that way by your engineer building your house for example, you will be very wary. |
tuoyoojo:Not only bumpy but they are known the world over as tyre killers. So for frequent long distance drivers, you will spend more on vehicle maintenance. The ideal thing will be to pave over concrete roads with asphalt. But I guess that will cost a fortune. |
[quote author=Thazard post=138440132]If bird do disturb the engine, why aren't wire mesh installed in front of it so the birds can't get inside? Or is there something I'm missing 🤔?[/quote Yeah, you are missing the fact that a metal object like your wire mesh sucked into the engine will be more catastrophic and the frequency of such occurrence will be like baiting a hungry lion. Let us not start with the physics of having bigger engines and consuming more fuel due to disturbing the airflow. Bird strikes are not common by the way and not every strike will damage an aircraft engine. It has to either be a very large bird or a cluster, which is even less likely. |
To be honest. I don't find it comfortable in a taxi while the driver is on the phone. And in a multi cultural place like Abuja these insecure days if the driver speaks in a foreign language you better be a bit wary. |
I just don't get it. How do you report to the authorities this kind of matter. I mean will a drug kingpin in the US report to the DEA that his mule has made off with his stash.... How do you say it, how do you word it.... And the cops are looking at you and nodding their heads in agreement and in sympathy....like they are not connecting.....they don't get it.... . This country is so funny...honestly. |
When you don't have an aircraft carrier overflowing with strike aircraft that you can park off the coast of Morocco to get their security forces sweating in the arse, your citizens will become diplomatic ludo dice. |
integrity16:I concur....and vote for this position.....with or without gearbox...or automatic transmission.... ![]() .. |
All of them. No one sits with a king. ![]() ....not me, I don't organize the Ballon D'or. |
Ebubeslym:Then end the carnage, the horrendous killings and massacres by bandits and Jihadists rampaging through your lands and slaughtering your citizens. No sane country in the world goes about its business while hundreds are killed over days and tens of thousands over a few years. TENS OF THOUSANDS. It is just like the paradox of the 'police checkpoint' subculture in Nigeria. No one likes it. But as long as the police cannot reform and the criminals will not stay silent, it is the price to pay. In this case America will continue it's interest until your country measures up to it's responsibilities to it's most vulnerable citizens. |
Peliman:I think the government should step in a specify the equipment they use. Perhaps bring the engine capacity down to 50 cc or less like for a moped. In Abuja here they are often nasty and reckless. Accidents are almost a daily occurrence. They ride on every street including highway speed lanes which should not be. The delivery business is supposed to be short, almost neighbourhood communes. |
pipnator00:When you do that in public you are infringing on the rights of others. The vast majority of us consider same sex interactions of any kind personal kind as repulsive. |
casualobserver:You are totally correct. Who will change the money first sub-culture, that erodes values and 'standards' across board and free this country to fly. Today local contractors cannot be trusted because their fellow citizens in authority WHO KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT AND GOOD, see them as better fodder for compromise and corruption. Don't we realise the trillions lost to job, skills and capital flight when we use foreigners to do the basic things we should be doing. And that is why my radical solution for leaders and public servants. End the 'contracting' regime. Do every public works in this country by direct labour. Let the Nigerian citizen at the grassroots identify with building this country and be proud of his achievements in that or disappointed with his failures when he cannot deliver. |
Nteogwuija:It depends on what is defined as human capital development. Personally I have not seen anyone try it. |
casualobserver:There is no demand for quality as a cultural standard across board. In this country money comes first on both sides of the argument. |
DrMB:Wr don't have visionary leadership. We don't have intellectual leadership. We don't have transformational leadership. What we have are leaders that come in and continue baking bread with the same ingredients, from the same cookbook, in the same kitchen with the same ovens....and of course getting the same results. A nation that cannot radically change, cannot experience a radical change of fortunes. |
At a time when the forlorn attempt at railways and rail transport is collapsing around the country. Shows where the priorities are. |
....Abeg make una take am easy na.After una don chop all the wildlife wey dey Nigeria sotey no hope for tourism industry, una wan follow chop all the plant wey dey bush. Na to turn Nigeria to complete desolate wilderness be dat. |
Get in touch with Elon and get them Starlink. It is used even in war torn countries with great success. This is 2026, technology has bypassed all these excuses. As far back as the early 90's, long before GSM.reached our shores my dad was making calls and sending data from anywhere in the country courtesy of Thuraya. Today if there is a will there are many ways. |
There was a list of dead ball maestros on this forum yesterday or so. Isn't this guy's name supposed to be there? |
