KingEbukasBlog: When you are in a communist country , you are expected to pledge allegiance to the Marxist-Leninist ideology as your nation's guiding principle - that means atheism is imposed . Belief in God is not tolerated especially in religion .
So President Jose who may have been born with that atheist idea since Uruguay has been with communism for a long time before it ended just before he became president .
I don't think he became an atheist from a personal choice , its more of his environment , his milieu that influenced him . The "God idea" in religion is not tolerated in communism . And there are communist parties that make being an atheist a prerequisite for becoming a member .
He may believe in God privately but appears to be an atheist or declares to be one because of the country or politics in the country or rejection of religion in which the belief in God has been mistaken to be an integral part .
That's why I said it is arguable .
You dig ? A Nigerian President may have a dis -believe in God privately but appears to be a Christian or Muslim or declares to be one because of the country or politics in the country or general acceptance of religion in which the belief in God has been mistaken to be an integral part . NB: I am no atheist. |

KingEbukasBlog: Christianity is a 'religion' of love . There are so many Christian organisations in poor countries helping these poor people - trying to provide respite to the adversity they face .
There are so many Christians who have pledged to help the poor through out their lives . That is what Christ preached .
Help the poor . Don't let the rich oppress the poor Those in prison visit them Love even your enemies and do good to them who hate you
I read on DailyMail yesterday or so about kids who burned down a G -Wagon and flushed down a Rolex watch - total price is 88K pounds - while people can't find food to eat
If you have money to waste , why not give to charity and fund those Christian organizations in these poor countries . Christ commanded us to do these things . Christianity is 'not' a religion. |

KingEbukasBlog: It simply means in all that you do , fear God and keep his commandments . Sir Read this passage and give it this your conclusion above. 17 So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. 18 I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me. 19 And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish? Yet they will have control over all the fruit of my toil into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless. 20 So my heart began to despair over all my toilsome labor under the sun. 21 For a person may labor with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then they must leave all they own to another who has not toiled for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune. 22 What do people get for all the toil and anxious striving with which they labor under the sun? 23 All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest. This too is meaningless. 24 A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, 25 for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? 26 To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. This too is meanigless... what does this too here refer to? |

Christianity Etc › Re: Religion: An Illusion That Works Well by rejosom(m): 3:13pm On Dec 16, 2016 |
KingEbukasBlog: That is not what that verse means .
It means that life without God has no purpose or meaning .
Because if you look at subsequent verses the preacher attempted finding meaning to life through discovery , wisdom , alcohol , different philosophies , architecture , luxurious life , personal pleasure , unbridled lusts , riches and glory etc .
Then he now came to Ecclesiastes 12:13 and said “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”
It just epitomizes the true meaning of life as a human . Without God life is meaningless - your toil , suffering , riches , discoveries , they do not make any sense if you perish after God's judgement .
And this is from the wisest man known in History - Solomon had written over 3000 Proverbs . Thanks so much Mr. Ebuka. So, it means that one who lives without God has a purposeless life but one who lives with God a purposeful life. And this purpose according to you is simply to "Fear God and Keep His commandments" What a purpose! A man with God who has a purpose therefore should neither work nor labour for all he needs will be provided to him by God through the sweat of those who live without God Ecc2:17-25-26 ...Then everything is meaningless. So what are we saying? |

damogul: Balance solomons comment with LOVE NOT THE WORLD, NEITHER THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD FOR THOSE THAT LOVE THE WORLD DO NOT LOVE GOD.
Its still talking about greed and selfishness. THE WORLD means the content, the goods, the wealth for THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL..
However we have been commanded to love men and humanity as those are the truly valuable ones which was why the bible says WHAT SHALL IT PROFIT A MAN IF HE GAINS THE WHOLE WORLD AND LOSES HIS SOUL. Sir, we are saying the same thing if you hate the world and everything in it, you hate life. That is the purposelessness of life. WHAT SHALL IT PROFIT A MAN IF HE GAINS THE WHOLE WORLD AND LOSES HIS SOUL. Meaning... it shall profit a man a whole lot if he looses (better decides to loose) the whole world to gain his soul. Life in the world is useless and not to be cherished even you confirms it. |

Omoluabi16: Why the multiplicity? because each denomination have their own understanding/interpretation of the bible and Christian standards. However therr is only one God, and there will be only ine Judgement. Then why do you belong to ur denomination? Because ur parents/friends attend there? because ur pressured not to leave? abi cos its mode of operating is more convenient for u? These are pertinent questions you should ask yourself..but most importantly are they strictly structured as the God's words says? As for me, I go to my church because It is in line with what God expects us to do.Others may disagree with my views, as I disagree with the Catholic system. Salvation is a personal thing, but its very glaring that purgatory, ur mode of prayers, and ur honour of Mary has no biblical basis.
Sorry I threatened to sl@p you...im just a big bad bully.. lol Exactly what I am thinking. People understand these religious books based on their own interpretations and misinterpretations as the case may be. Obviously, these interpretations more often than not are biased by a number of factors including training, traditions , beliefs, cultures, convictions, circumstances and even the words of people we 'trust'. So, why then do we base our treatment of others on a religious book that is open to misinterpretations? Now you are reading my mind about why I am a Catholic today. But, I will take it a little further. Then why am I a Christian? Because my parents/friends are Christians? Because I was born in the Eastern Nigeria? because I'm being pressured not to leave? abi cos it's mode of operating is most convenient for me? Again, Why do I believe that the bible is the word of God? Because I was told? Because it's contents are more convincing than other religious books? Because I'm being pressured to hold on to it? These are pertinent questions I am asking myself on this thread... but most importantly how do I know what God's words says without telling someone else to write to me or tell me? I am glad you are okay with your church, keep it up. But more importantly let's learn to live peacefully amongst people who don't share our belief and convictions. Finally, I understand your stand on the catholic doctrines, Sometimes too I question some of them but there are still a whole of doctrines practiced by EVERY Christian denomination that are controversial just like purgatory, mode of prayer and honor of Mary. Think about trinity, hell, tithe, women preachers, faith alone and work alone, bible versions and revisions, old testament laws (to be or not to be), Modes of prayer and the list goes on and on. So, you see there are more controversies that we share, and I suppose we try to strengthen the ties rather that widen the gaps. Thanks. |
