How come US should be the model or example to follow? solomon111: why not invade them just the same way the US invaded libya when their ambassador was killed. |
lol that's his point exactly... if someone with a psychological problem calls you an Oloto or whatever... donphilopus: who doesn't know Musiwa has a Psycological Problem? |
Dude, where have you been all this while? There is no vacancy in Aso rock... In other words... o nweghi ebe o ji azu aga.... in other other words.... abegi somebody should break it down in Yoruba & Hausa.... All in all... we are happy with the Transformation sweeping the country.... slowly but surely.... if it aint broke, don't fix it they say.... again.... there is no NO no vacancy in Aso rock.... End of. donphilopus: Nigerians fail to see it but this is the man who is going to deliver Nigeria from all this madness of insurgency, economic rot and education woes. In 2015, I wanna say All hail President Tinubu. The Umbrella has been replaced by the broom. I believe in APC so now he should be the Presidential candidate that has a proven record of setting the ball rolling in Lagos. He turned Lagos around then handing to his Chief of Staff who even turned it around more. This is like Obama leaving the White House and handing over to Rahm Emmanuel some day. Emmanuel was the Chief of Staff who eventually left to go back to Chicago and is now the Mayor handling Chi town’s gun violence. Remi is so vibrant as a Former First Lady and present Senator with that Hillary Clinton syndrome. These people have a record that’s PROVE. |
There is no greater insecure and deluded fool than he that masquerades as an imposter... Kanuri today, Itsekiri tomorrow, Yoruba today, Ijaw citizen tomorrow... and the funny thing is.. you never get tired of it lol... if you are looking for a fool, look in the mirror.... ijaw citizen: This article is simply the thoughts of an insecure & deluded fool. |
I'm inside Queen Latifah... then Raven Simone lol.. cacius: I'm in bed and getting ready to sleep after a busy Monday and this thought crossed my mind after being on NL for an hour so. I think it will be nice to know where my fellow Nairalanders are in the world and it will be cool if we represent our locations by simply typing something like this: I represent Ikeja Lagos or representing Abuja or even moscow. It will give us an idea of how wide and close Nairalanders are globally. Let's get it started and the Mods might just take it to the front page. I represent Ikeja Lasgidi Lagos. Eko ni baje o. Yeah let's keep it coming folks!! |
How can? Weren't some NL experts on GDP and wealth stating that even Borno state is wealthier than Enugu which is poverty stricken and a "hell hole" as they called it?
ENUGU …TAKE A SECOND LOOK Friday, October 4, 2013 Michael Nnebe mnfargo@gmail.com On Friday the second of August I sat alone in my living room watching the Tonight Show by Jay Leno. My phone rang, and I looked, it was my daughter Ashley calling from the United States. "How are you daddy?" She asked excitedly. "I'm alright darling." "Surprise, you are still up this late." "Yeah, I wanted to catch up on Jay's monologue on the Tonight Show before I go to bed." In the middle of our conversation my daughter told me that she was planning to see "Great Gatsby" that evening, a movie that was just released a few days earlier. I told her that I remember the story, that I had read the novel by F. Scot Fitzgerald and seen a much earlier version of the movie in New York some twenty years ago. After the conversation I immediately checked on my phone the website of Genesis Deluxe Cinema operating at the Polo Park Shoprite mall here in Enugu. It turned out that the movie was a worldwide release, and also showing here in Enugu. The next day I went to the mall, bought my ticket, popcorn and soda, and enjoyed the movie. When I left the cinema it was already late, about 9:45PM, and it was drizzling. As I drove out from Polo Park Mall through the well-lit dualized Abakaliki Road that led to Ogui junction, Chime Avenue junction, and ultimately into Bisala Road that leads to the Independence Layout section of town. I rarely go out at night, even when I go to the movies I try to catch an early showing in order to be home by nine o'clock. On that Saturday night, I noticed how clean and well-lit these vast networks of well-constructed roads in Enugu really are. I was so enchanted that I decided to drive around town that night and see more. I was astonished at how much this quiet sleepy Coal City has suddenly developed into a modern metropolis. I drove through the GRA to Trans Ekulu, from Abakpa to New Heaven, then to Coal Camp. From there I drove to Achara Layout, then to Uwani, and Ogui and Asata before returning to Independence Layout. One thing I noticed is that most of the major roads were all dualized and well-lit. Even the bus stops were all ultra modern, with solar powered lights that glows through the night. On my way back, somewhere around Presidential Road, it was still drizzling, and I noticed a police car parked around the WAEC junction, its roof lights flickering in their many bright colors, and two police officers in their trench coats standing next to the car, examining a motorist's document. For a split second I thought I was somewhere in Amsterdam, or London. I had to remind myself that I was actually still here in Enugu. It was not as if all these happened overnight, not quite, I had witnessed most of these transformations as they came, but this singular experience has made me to take stock in the city where I now call home. I must confess that I'm rather pleasantly surprised at how much Enugu has changed for the better. Though just one of the five state capitals in the Southeast, Enugu has for long been regarded as the headquarters of Igbo land. Perhaps this was as a result of its role as the former capital of the Eastern region. Whatever the reason, most Igbo heavyweights still make their homes here even if they are based in Abuja or Lagos. Nine out of ten of all Igbo big men, from Ekwueme to Ojukwu, from Iwuanyanwu to Arthur Eze, from Soludo to Ekweremadu and so forth all have a home here. |
and when people migrating from poverty stricken areas to prosperous areas, end up living a better life than the so-called prosperous people domicile in the prosperous area... what does that say of the "prosperous people"? Well, click on the link below and hear one of them for yourself how they are terrified that hunger is going to wipe them out, unable to purchase common foodstuffs like beans and red oil... http://tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/component/k2/item/19870-pandemonium-as-hausa,-yoruba-traders-clash-over-boko-haram-killings.html Perhaps laziness as well? My dear brother, I have stopped asking them that question, their usual response is (what Kats said to Naijaking on this thread, being) emotional, or more like "emotional BS"... There was once a thread I believe it was Onlytruth that made a comment along the lines of Igbos having checks and balances that guide their behavior..... and our brothers on the other side of the Niger didn't understand what he meant and were taking it out of context etc... When you think you've seen the lowest one can go.... you get proved wrong by something worse.... and if you express your shock or disbelief and passionate disapproval... before you know it they've dribbled you (if you try to follow their reasoning) back to your own business/behavior and never respond to the main issue raised... (again, read Naijakings direct question at Kats and see if you can place a finger on what exactly his response was.... ) so that is why I now just let them be, and as I've said, focus on setting the records straight and pointing out any lies being mixed up with facts that have been coated to lead on gullible minds... Also, I know that such people in real life... are usually a shadow of what they come on NL to do gra gra ... Ngwakwe: Why do you and most of your colleagues prefer using language of violence or imagining violence in a bid to get even with the Igbos. |
You see, there are a thousand and one ways/direction things could have gone with changes in one of the variable/action or the other/reactions... I am sure you know what is dubbed "in the heat of the moment"... and how, in judicial law/courts, one's action in this "heat of the moment" is looked at and judged differently from actions otherwise - which are NOT in the heat of the moment... i.e. they had no preconceived plan of action. Keeping that aside, hindsight, they say, is 20/20, we now know what Ironsi did, and what the result of his actions were... so while "watching" this "video" of what did... it is easy... very very easy to judge him and say "He shouldn't have done this/that"...... even more crafty in my opinion, is what Kats has been doing on this forum and this thread, going from the resultant action and cherry-picking those actions of Ironsi that leads him straight to the result of what befell him and others.... (yet, without hindsight.. Kats himself might have done the same things.... ) quote author=nuclearboy] Was Ojukwu or the Igbo "neutral"? because based on your judgment above, NOBODY should be believed! I have learnt a great deal more from this thread though I read the Aburi accord, The 5 majors and Why we struck about 30 years ago! The question that has come to mind over and over is "what if Ironsi didn't take over? In effect, what if Diphcharima had been sworn in thus allowing the coup plotters to have been sanctioned? Would that NOT have saved the Igbo race who ended up with such tragedy, from the fallout of wrong doing by a few people? Seems to me the desire to save a few of his "boys" cost Ironsi, not just his life, but also the lives of millions in a senseless war! NOT leadership or statemanship qualities!
|
Don't mind them, when a fast one was pulled on Soludo, its "politics as usual"; but now they are getting a taste of "chancing" and they are crying for the heavens to fall... FreeGlobe: The rants of a toothless bulldog. what goes around comes around. A tout and criminal called Tony Nwoye should not be seen contesting any elections anywhere in Nigeria. Its a taboo. wait until Andy Ubah jumps them all in court for what is right. |
lol now that's funny... You don't know the Igbos, so I can understand your folly and laugh at it when you think they (we Igbos) care about what happens online.... ilugunboy: This is the type of thread that the only thing you can do is to pity the Ibos... |
You make an allegation and asking the accused to "google it"? Is this like when you lied and asked me to google the fleeing General? are you ever tired of telling lies? or even ashamed of it? Does your culture have values such as honesty and integrity? 'fia!!! Orlando Owoh: Google it, using the words. |
Thanks again for your recommendation of sources. It would be great if every aspect of this war were documented extensively with explorations of all possible perspective... but it seems (some parents want) that war to be forgotten... for whatever reason.... and Heaven knows why this Useni man thought it pertinent to bring this story up now... I mean... if they not gonna make it part of our educational curriculum, then don't the eff talk about it in little pieces her eand there that ends up leaing gullible minds into a foray of confusion and delusions. . PhysicsQED: @ Katsumoto, interesting response, although I'm still not really convinced about the merit of that idea. I would explain why I disagree with that overall interpretation here, but the discussion would probably get too lengthy. Thanks for explaining your view on Luckham's analysis though. |
Don't mind him/them... the masses will decide whether its celebrities flooding their state that is more important to them than infrastructural development & growth. malc619: What has he done for sports in Iboland and Nigeria?? |
Hey, if you don't mind, can you tell me where to get the book? Purchase it, I mean... and which other book or books about the civil war do you recommend or think gives a balanced view or perspective, but detailed accounts of the events leading up to and up until just after the war... early 70s to 80 or mid 80s... thanks in advance. PhysicsQED: @ DerideGull, |
... so what happens though, when there is no more land in Lagos? Like literally speaking... all the virgin lands eaten up by businesses/investors, families and so on and so forth... and I don't know what the obsession is on the name or tag given to Lagos... Even if it is not dubbed NL - "No-man's land"... ![]() ![]() ![]() and is considered to be part of the SW ONLY IN GEOGRAPHICAL contexts... it sstill does not, DOES NOT make it the land of/ownership of any single ethnic group in this contraction called Nigeria, one Nigeria I must add. Hope you all have/had a wonderful celebration of independence day... once again... tis One Nigeria!!! pazienza: Btw, nobody wants SW, we only want lagos,as we are well aware that lagos is 'no man's land' and not part of SW. |
If I tell you that I love your post, its a lie, because "love" is not even a strong enough word to express my appreciation for such a post that captures my mission her on NL since I decided to start posting/commenting in this section. It seems no matter how many times it is said, explained and broken down for them, they still don't get.... from analogies, examples and most of all... explaining the reality of current affairs in this country... still flies over their head.... so I resorted to just burst their lie bubbles and when I can, try to remind and explain to them that this is an online forum, the closest thing to their imagination and fantacies... kinda like that "game" dreamland or something.. oh its actually "2nd life" I think... but anyways... the earlier they understand this fact you stated, the better for them.... owobokiri: Totally nonplussing how some loafers think that Sterile internet rants/taunts will EVER encourage igbos to shy away from completing the total economic DOMINATION of Lagos and her surroundings as destiny beckons. Very funny indeed! You tried progroms, then genocide/ethnic cleansing, then war, then state sponsored pauparisation/marginalization/exclusions....They all failed.. Now , in all your inventive splendor, the best you can come up with is to project your tiger faces at every igbo while shouting "go back and develope your red mud, erosion ravaged villages"! Thats so lame. . Do you really think that these ruggedly built bunch of goal getting Africans will be quite easily scared off by this chest thumping antics of some lousy cowards? You Awo urchins need to come up with something a bit more sophisticated than this shyte.. , this is so juvenile. . Whatever it is you come up with though, never try violence unless you want to turn your much loved "center of commerce" into the "center of conflict". |
I choose all three... 45% of Lagos belongs to the Igbos... that`s too small, its n F scoring 45%, ... so expect more and more loads of buses with Igbos in Lagos soon... and get your COs ready ... dayokanu: The human traffic alone which is mostly towards the SWest explains it all |
Uhhm... I dunno, man... dunno if I agree that "we were no match for them (the British etc)"... I mean... Libya didn't last 6 months... even though they were not getting as much support as Nigeria did against Biafra... I recall reading a description of Biafrans soldiers as... in fact, I dey come, make I go find ambefore they charge me of misquoting... pazienza: Nah, the british,USSR, and Egypt stood on our way, we were no match for them. Who knows, with the syria showdown coming up, those people might just be too busy, and we can finally have you for meat. *grins* |
My brother, God bless you for this apt truth in the face of born liars that have no shame to tell bold lies without biting an eyelid. The people that started tribalism in Nigeria are the ones that come online to call others tribalists... The people that are clowns are the ones that come online to call others clowns... and this is the baffling one.... seeing a Yoruba call another a coward.... that is just so unbelieveable to me. ... I mean, that's worse than pot calling kettle black, its like... a goat telling an eagle "You can't fly" or something like that. pazienza: Same old rhetoric of of painting others black and yourselves as angels, awo was at a power grabing game, but akintola was busy painting igbos as devils, awo got caught twice and still died trying to grab power, but you don't see that, maybe yorubas seeing igbos as power grabing group is becos, that's what yoruba themselves are, people see themselves in other people. |
and I assure you of three things: 1. Instead of having Republic of Oduduwa, your land will be over run by Igbosstarting from Lagos and heading eastward 2. You will have the presidency of Nigeria but you will never be allowed to buy beans worth 550 naira and your families will be crying that they will soon die of hunger. In other words, there will be 0 benefit to your people even with the presidency. 3. You will never learn how to do business and forever be waiting for crumbs from the table of your masters that come to your land chance you in trading and other businesses your lazy bums can't do. The price will be dictated to you, the quantity, the quality and the amount of oil you put into it. So shall it be, and the people say..... Amen! Isee!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Orlando Owoh: I assure you of three things: |
That they feel they have to go so low and lie makes me wonder why. Whythe desperation to, not only make such allegations, but start spreading it even in newspapers... and now on online social media. The only guess I can make is fear; fear of intimidation and fear of the unknown coming from the Igbos... so making sure that the Igbos feel and even successfully subjugated, they won't have to worry about competition, whether it be for power, development, the economy etc... (You can see how one of the oafs on this thread - from nowhere - brought in one of their favorite songs of 'Igbos can and will never be president' where the topic is about a coup decades ago. So you see the crab mentality syndrome where they do not want others to step up to the plate and would rather stay in the mess we call a country together. But you see, all the noise they make online, all the policies they've used right back from the days of Awolowo up to date, all the propaganda they've been spreading to seem as the "good guys" and others/Igbos as the "bad guys" has not made or left them any better than any other region in Nigeria. As far as I know, the Igbos of today kno better, those whom are friends/partner/brother and those whom are covettting their property across Nigeria. nku5: I don't want to call you a liar. Just substantiate these things you have described in such rich detail. Any account, book excerpt, anything with substance will be appreciated. All this sort of beer parlour talk is what led to the deaths of thousands of innocent people. I remember when a yoruba poster a while ago printed a page, put in a bread wrapper and posted a picture of it on NL to claim that it was printed by igbos in 1966 to celebrate the coup. Such raving idiocy was seen a few months ago when you had some yoruba ppl echoing that igbos declared lagos no mans land when NOBODY can actually say who said it or when it was said. Pathetic and sheep like behaviour feom ppl who are supposed to be sophisticated. |
My brother, you have a better chance building a castle in the air that getting the people you are trying to advise be able to see and hold individuals responsible for their actions, as opposed to the culprits ethnic group... Its not more than 24 hours ago that I posted on another thread how some will look at a group of people and see "Nigerians with varying skills," while another will se "2 hausas, 3 Efiks and so on" Sincere 9gerian: I know you'r ready for an endless debate and determined force your narrative/propaganda down our throat. But I am not ready for such. |
chei! noting ey we no go see for this one Nigeria! hingw Orlando Owoh: Is it not stupìdity and a slap on your old age that you cannot refute what I have said but resorted to name - calling. Shame on you. Age is a mere appendage of number. You are not mature. Agadi nwoke ne gi amu ya na gba egwuregwu. Na me and you for this forum. |
Bia, this oily head skunk, go to the kids section and let mature minds talk, keep and eat your presidency of a fallen country to yourself... we've seen how Obj's 8 years improved your standard of living and your IGR and GDP so high, yet your uncle and his family still can't afford beans for 550 naira. Go and chop (oily beans) belle full first before making another comment on here... ewu gambia. Orlando Owoh: They are now paying for their selfishness and greed: none of them will rule this country. They know this hence their always queuing and shifting the goal post of when they will produce the president: from 2015 to 2019. Waiting without an end. Una never see anything. They have resorted to be backing Ijaw, an ethnic group they suppressed in the defunct Eastern Region, which they are counting on to have over power to them in 2019, as if the Presidency is a rellay race baton. |
lol my brother, they can't help themselves... they love Igbos and hate them too.... they don't know what they want - they say Igbos should leave Lagos which they wish and claim is "Yoruba land" lol.... but any sign that shos needed infrastructural development in the east... you see them becoming analysts to start pointing out why Enugu doesn't need an international airport or why Aba is not a good place to build a mega mall but Lagos and Ogun.... (again where they want Igbos to evacuate for them)...... I mean... what do you call that kind of problem.... That's why you see them clowns calling others clowns... lol as I keep saying... the joke is on them... B2 mario: my dear what change are you talking about, please shun the matter because your arguement is not constructive, many construction companies in nigeria are scam even your popular julius berger, the main thing is how you inspect and follow them up. Your criticism is not just because of the construction company but your hatred for SE. Please already we have many companies here in Aba; NB, uniliver, PZ, Guiness, coca-cola, 7up, valumbra, bonemax, tonimax, saclux, dutch, NNPC, clover etc, they are numerous. So man rest! |
honestly, you didn't miss much, bro... Its the usual green snake in the green grass Kats putting his legendary spin on facts and figures... and getting cheered on by his brothers that swallow hook, line and sinker everything he says and thanks him for it lol... only that this time its Usenis (Hausa) interview that's giving them the opportunity to raise and spew all the issues they've been having against Ndigbo... and the words they've chosen is "grab at power..." or "power play" by the Igbos... ... then the usual suspects vomit more and more unrevelant comments just to answer "present" lol ACM10: How did I miss this thread? |
Politics section is not for "softies"... so if in search of a femal mod. I nominate Babyosisi... (I see her almost as the female version of sexkills... she doesn't give a damn and will place a derailing poster where he or she belongs... in the banned room/corner... ) Those calling her tribalists (and thus not to be considered)... are definitely those she had dealt with before (whom did need to be discipline... so with a ban stick... I am sure she can get the job done. As for "Berom"... I believe there has been some unverified comments on her M'F gender... and thus makes her an imposter... I don't recommend... For a male mod. my nomination goes to Mr. Ndu Chuks... oh I guess I already said that... anyhoo... there ya go... and I must point this out... where the posters that are known to be Igbo on this thread, interestingly, have not been pushing forward an "Igbo mod.".. while their main position is to pick someone based on merit... hile the northerner(s) are just sitting down watching what happens until it is "action time"... the loudest posters on this leaves no doubt as to their ethnicity.. when they look at the mod. list... they don't see mods... they see 2 Igbos and 1 Yoruba... (Now if you will flash back to the '50s/60s... and listen to the speech Akintola made about the VCs of 2 (federal) in the west.... he (Akintola) did not see 2 qualified human beings that were working for the development and progress of the universities (and assess their performance... ) but what he (Akintola) saw 2 Igbo men that were the "heads" in a "Yoruba land." He made the speech over the radio... just as Jeremiah Useni has just narrated the coup he (claims) he was part of in Ironsi's death... If Nigeria seeks to be a developed country... the issue of tribalism needs to be addressed in one way or another... unless... each time we gather, whether online or offline... as long as there are multiple groups involved and well represented... o nweghi anyi ji azu aga.
Distinguished Nairalander, Here comes another opportunity to serve as a moderator in Nairaland. I volunteer myself. Reason: to make each thread be balanced and (help) keep all posters in (the) line of discussion. Seun, commenting shortly after the exit of Jarus (for not wanting to moderate because a person he feels should not moderate was given the position) said he wants every thread in this section to be in the same calibre and organized exchange of ideas, thoughts, facts etc as the monthly debates were meant to be... So that will be (one of) my goals; and I would not use my position as a mod. to ban people all the time, it will be a sort of cajoling and encouraging of a straying poster to respect the forum and other members and fall in line or hold his or her silence and observe/read while those interested carry the discussion. I have a few other things I will like to do to raise the bar on the quality of threads in this section, but I will not show "all my hand" but reserve my comments for now... (... if I later on, forget what the main other suggestion I wanted to make, someone should remind me of the words "tive" lol thanks y'all for nominating me too )One more thing I can say now though is the possibility of having a task-force... Seun if you have any doubt, look up the real definition... these 'task forcers' I believe should not have the power to ban... rather, the way mods. recommend threads for FP, task-force members will recommend derailing posts and posters for bans. (Or if they have the power of bans too, that might, might be okay as well... ). but yeah, i'd say 2 or 3 people in this team?... could be visible or invisible/anonymous. Lastly, Seun, well, more like before lastly, I hope the reason for choosing a fourth mod. is... well, what is your reason for needing a 4th mod.? You don't seem to have answered the question lots of posters have askedabout this... they might have some advice or input... well, what am I saying.... knowing the reputation of most posters that have been yapping... I can't be more convinced they'd have or are interested in steps that will meet the objectives ya (Seun) are working towards. Anyways, and lastly ... is my summary of the above points and my (other) recommendation: - I volunteer to be a mod. ![]() - I will not see the ban stick as a magic wand that will ban posters and hope/expect they return as changed people, inside and/or outside, but not both. - What is your reason for wanting a 4th mod.? I just want to know if you & I are thinking along the same (bottom) line/page/book lol and if I will recommend another than myself... there are some good posters... but I will vote for Ndu_chuks.... as long as the note in his ban message will not be something along the lines of ... piafukwaa gi mkpuru amu. Ewu!"... or replace "Ewu" with "Oloto... " Obinoscopy: We have 20 volunteers thus far! I must say we are grateful for all those who indicated interest to serve this great forum. |
