... She becomes the 2nd wife, is my guess; unless the man does nnot want the two women living in the same house with him/a.k.a he doesn't wanna have 2 wifes. (Funny/interesting thing is: the Bible/Christianity does not stipulate monogamy for men.... esp. traditional rulers.... berem: Going through the real story, marrying a foreigner is against the customs of the Igbodo people. The king is to marry a native of Igbodo as his first wife then he can have other wives from other ethnic groups if he so wishes. If it is their custom,so it be,but for the King to go against such law is wickedness and stoopid! What now becomes of the first wife? |
Awakullowo: Everywhere they go, they are rejected. They are misfit anywhere you see them, even the people of Igbodo in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State rejected their daughter. It sucks to be ibo! |
Your comment is spot-on. You see, a lot of people with a hidden agenda, usually of hate and other vices, always try to use some logic or reason to cover and then broadcast it to see if it will fly.... but as they say... yaye dey smell... when it smells, then it definitely can't fly lol. The argument of having fewer points of entry in a country is the most ridiculous thing I've heard on this topic, and it is coming from someone who knows how to use a computer? downright stup|d if you ask me. Going further to add a lie/false claim as an example is the one that makes me believe that hate and envy is indeed self-destructive... imagine someone boldly claiming that no where else in the word does a country have multiple points of entry... I mean.... where does such people saying this nonsense crawl out from? not to wonder how many countries they have visited or known exactly how many points of entry exist.... I dunno... maybe I asking the question may be the dull one... asking for specifics from the poster might teach me a thing or two... I used to think that saying someones claims being a figment of his/her imagination was not completely true, as such a person would be able to tell reality apart from delusions... but NL has been proving otherwise lately.... stup|d and si||y numbskulls of ill repute!!! Starlett: Well, guys, I've followed the heated debate for a while now.. here's Starlett's take: |
I will quote whenever I like, as long as you use derogratory words like "Oily Yoruba" I will take you up on it. He didn't call you an "oily Yoruba... " he called you an "oily soup person... " |
You said my mind exactly.... From the Yoruba group in Enugu begging for free land from the state government... to the traders in Ibadan begging for free beans (from the northern traders in Ibadan) to sell... and now, after all their noise, mockery and negative wishes for the Enugu Int'l airport has beenunsuccessful.... they now want what the Israelis dub "charm offensive" - trying to use logis and persuasive argument to pull that airport down... I dunno if y'all heard of odeeshi... its forward ever and backward never! You indeed are your own problems, I keep on telling y'all... you don't want Igbos in Lagos, yet you are okay with national infrastructuers being in the west and not the east... Reminds me of Uche Ogbuagu's comment of a girl rebuffing a guy coming to toast her... "Hmm... "she said, "Naani aka bra mu ka I huru, gi 'koopu; I hu panti (underwear) mu, I ga emezi kwanu gini?" if this airport is causing them so much mental problems, what will they do, if, as someone had earlier insinuated, the Sam Mbakwe airport is also given an Int'l status? Or some of the land in Abia state used for annual farming is used for building an airport ![]() malele: This is a typical youroba reasoning, dey don't like competition, dey want FG to help them get everything and they will be the same people to tell u to go to ur village. Seriously I don't understand the kind of human beings those people are. |
This is so Pathetic, is she the first minister to request for an armoured vehicle. With the kind of hatred being portrayed by people here, the minister really needs to give a serious thought to her security. Nigeria, with its tribal goons, is not good enough to die for whatever reason. The post just before yours is the truth, the underlying reason for all this gum-flapping, or should I say "finger-twitching" you see on this thread... as Billonaire earlier said before checking out, Stella should grow a thick skin and not be bothered by all this noise and continue the wonderful transformation agenda she has begun in the Aviation industry. Fresh air must continue! Also, I couldn't agree more that the real agents of change that have had positive influence on the country are unappreciated, if at all.... Upon all the progress and transformation in many sectors of this administration, that people come online to propagate hate, false info and slander of such people is terribly unfortunate |
" Orlando Owoh: So there are just two ethnic groups on this thread - Yoruba and Igbo? The people that say she must quit are Yoruba? See how low your reasoning is. I pity you.Funny enough I was about to ask the same/similar question: so the people y'all claim were/are defending Stella were all Igbos? (who were defending her because, as y'all allege, hse's one of their own?) Everyone whose comment is not in line with yours is automatically Igbo? See how low your own reasoning is? I don't pity you... (and by the way, e don tey I still dey wait that your google search result.... any update?) |
Midastouch1: Please stop talking nonsense. You only "tongue lash" them because they are APC members! Please stop talking nonsense. You only "tongue-lash" them (Abati & Okugbe) because they are NOT APC members. If you still think what Stella has done is condemnable then you should be very ashamed of yourself. |
Did she "steal"? even with receipts being available for the records? Did she know what the price of the automobile(s) is/are? whether in Lagos or in Florida? Nne, don't get carried away by all these rascals in their flowing cherubim & seraphim gowns claiming to be objective.... you are well aware (or maybe not) that the moment an Igbo (or the closest thing to it) is the subject - that's when they all will want "an honest analysis" ... "objective criticism" ... etc etc - if its a positive matter, they will swear to stay up late even through the night to pull down the news to prove it otherwise, (for example: that muggu Ola Johnson & his bro ilumumu boy... and if its a bad thing (or even seemingly bad).... the thread before us here is what you get... gloating, excitement, using their oily palms on their joy sticks and the females shoving aka odu all the way up their abandoned psusy... nnenna.1: |
lakhadimar: reuben abati and doyin okupe are both yorubas and here on nairaland we see yoruba poster bash and tongue lash them daily but anytime an ibo or s/s politician is rebuked you guys become defensiveChris Ngige and Rochas Okorocha are both Igbos and here on NL you see Igbo posters bash & tongue lash them daily but anytime a Yoruba or mid-west politician is rebuked you guys become defensive too. |
It seems she also messed up for "stealing" a little bit... imagine if she took all that 18 billion and pocketed and didn't buy an armoured car .... would anyone have said anything? No... because her precedors were all rogues too....
[/quote |
Of course not, because Tinubu & Fasshole would have made the entire ministry of aviation bankrupt.... just like their hero and you guys' model, FFK - how much money went missing under that rogue's watch? and what improvements did he make to aviation in the country? Exactly! So those two people should keep their dirty biz in the south-west and should never be even close to the corridors of Nigerian affairs... we don't want more FFKs... no more Objs.... but more of the Fresh air for international flights and improved travelling experience in our remodelled airports! GEJ till 2019!! Buhari in 2032! Tinubu & Fasshole in 4915! ~Bluetooth: |
How do you know that, as you put it: "non-Moslems celebrating the unjustified killings of Moslems... " is true? That is: that the posters you refer to are non-Moslems and the people (allegedly) killed are Moslems? I await your answer... (and please don't say that its 'cause Amnestly Int'l said so) " Donmams: As expected bigoted non-muslims are celebrating the unjustified killing of muslims. What excuse does the JTF have to kill anyone extrajudicially? What are the courts for? And because these animals supporting sheer wickedness have no conscience, including programmed hate of everything Islamic, cannot spot the injustice being perpetrated here. I can still remember Kabiru Sokoto is yet to be convicted. As a matter of fact no one has been convicted for being even remotely involved with Boko Haram. You fools simply can't see that the Gov't is using the BH problem to carry out a nefarious agenda. |
Yes yes, yes.... just send me your mailing address and keep your eyes in the mail... ![]() @ dat yooba boy... abi you no know say storms/weather can be cause for a crash? go read it up, homie, refresh your memory and see that she wasn't blaming God... (in Igbo we say, "I ga-a bara Chineke mba/... I ga agba el'igwe ukwu)... so an "... act of God" is a very unfortunate event... but I think she should have used a different phrase... or said nothing at all until the investigation/reports are submitted... yapping back and indulging FFK would not have been my advice to her as a PA lol... Okija_juju: Me I follow "like" the post o!! |
As at page six (6) of this thread, the comment I am quoting below has been liked by two (2) people... It sheds light on the events that the OP posted.... and it is clear Senator Ekweremadu was not demanding her being sacked... but why would the writer of that article paint a false picture of the intention of the Senator and that of his colleagues? isn't that a clear case of misinformation and mis-interpretation... and who is such representation targeted at? Perhaps those that love to play the ethnic game and say they are more concerned with competence... Why is the truth always ignored and turned on its head when a particular ethnic group is concerned? Its a bitter pill... one that only 2 people will like, in place of bigotry posts/comments that gets likes from over ten times the number of likes and appreciation for the truth these two posters have identified with Please, may the two people that liked the post below, stand? A recognition of you two is in order... and depending your location, some materials/gifts might just be sent to your (house) mail box ![]() May God help us see and identify with the truth... nothing like the truth ![]() You really shouldn't say that. News reportage is like story telling, everyone tells it their way. And, context is everything. This particular news deliberately failed to give the full text of what Ekweremadu said, preferring rather to let readers reach the logical conclusion that he is calling for Oduah's sack. Truth is, he isn't. Here's the full text: The issue is that in some places, when something like this happens, people take responsibilities and resign. But as such things do not happen here, we will keep repeating ourselves. The problem here is about safety standards and not just the plane because the standards are same everywhere. There is the need to ensure that those responsible for the regulation of the industry do so,” Ekweremadu said. Restating the reasons for the summon, Ekweremadu said: “We have tried a number of things including investigation, but the time has come to consider invoking power 67, Section 2 of our Constitution. We are inviting the Minister to brief us on the situation. It is not to indict anybody but to know what is happening in the aviation sector and how we can help to ensure that this does not continue. We also need to make our roads and waterways safe and all these could be done if we do our works well
|
What is your opinion on the road mishaps on Federal roadsthat are/were in such a bad state .. and consequently took lives of many Nigerians... especially the lives claimed by that Benin-Ore express road.... did the sacking/resignation of any minister demanded? be honest and tell me what you think... let's for sure see if there is that 3rd side on your coin ![]() 3Dimension: Some folks will just pick dir fone and start typing nonsense because of dir tribal inclination... |
How can such a bright and intelligent comment come from you now but then some completely ridiculous and weird assertion at another time.... ? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() THis same thing can be said about the NCAA boss who was appointed to oversee a specific department that deals directly with what people are accusing the Aviation minister of. I'm not saying either the Aviation minister or even the NCAA boss should be fired. I'm just addressing the hypocrisy of some Nigerians. I'm even forced to agree with Odua's assertion to some extent which asserts that air crashes are "an act of God". This simply means that they can be a natural occurrence because even in advanced countries of the world where attention to detail is worshiped, planes crash. So, in as much as a little more effort from people at authority will help reduce the occurrence of crashes, they should not be sacked solely for that afterall cars crash all the time and at no time has the Ministers of Transport been sacked or has anyone called for their sack. The Aviation ministry goes beyond just airlines.
|
Read my posts very well, the NCAA, NAMA and other ogas should also be sacked along with the minister, even the Permanent secretary should go as well, for goodness sake, a provincial health minister here is under fire for allowing an old woman to be discharged at 2:30am from the hospital. If he should stop digging holes then you should stop telling lies... Did you even think of what you said before posting it? lol how can a minister be working by 2:30 AM, talkless of (directly) "allowing an old woman to be discharged at 2:30am from the hospital." Not even to add being "under fire"... fire from who? you? lol you're kinda funny, but lies like this piss me off cause i hate people intentionally (or maybe you unintentionally did it) misinforming/deceiving people with outright bold face lies... Well, at least you didn't say they were calling for the minister's resignation ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Afam that analogy is not bright. Now that's rich coming from you - the master of wrong and unapplicable analogies... suddenly you can tell a "bright" and "unbright" analogy... mshewwww.... |
Omo Yoruba, people that reason you have on this issue are best ignored, but I will try anyways, try to help you see or understand that when she says "act of God" (she assumed she was talking to intelligent people it seems, i'd have used a more simple sentence/phrase), what she meant is that it is not possible to have a perfect system. You can do all the best you can, but doesn't Murphy's law state that if there is a possibility that something will go wrong, that it will? Granted there may be one, too many accidents, but in such a situation, finding where something went wrong in each case is what you do - and you sure cant tell me that a minister ministers action or lack thereof, is always the case of these mishaps.... say the pilot who is an expert and licensed etc... has a slight error in judgement.... there, an accident cold happen.... the bottom line is that ... the insurance people refer to an "act of God" as cases that are very unpredictable and beneat their control... s I am sure she meant that she can not, and should not, be the one blamed for something that went wrong in an area or section that is not meccessarily in her direct supervision... I hope my effort pays off... read it over again... odabo... berem: I am highly disappointed at your comments. I can't believe you and some other Igbo bigots will be so tribalisitc about the appointment of Stella Oduah as minister. You should know on records that Igbos have lost more lives in the air crash than any other ethnic group during her tenure. The Dana air crash is a perfect example. What do you say about that? Not because you didn't lose a loved one in any of the crash makes you care less about those who did. Sentiments aside, Stella should be fired immediately and another competent fellow be appointed. I don't really give a damn where the new minister should come from. All we want is no more crashes and loss of lives. |
wasn't it FFK? Try again. Symphony007: before you decend into your tribal demeanor. Note that the first person to call for her resignation is eke ekweremadu. The deputy senate president and a fellow igbo. |
Did she really say that?! I would have ran up to her & given her a kiss if I were there - at times you just have to tell these bigots to their faces that they cant do squat; except blow hot air of course. Anyhoo... igbophobia is not new shaa... they wouldn't give credit to whom and as when due when great acheivements are made.... at times I feel the performers sacrificing for the good and development of the country whom are not appreciated really should have played the same dirty game their predecessors did.... GEJ is making a breakthrough in the power sector, he easily could have helped himself to10 billion or more as Obasanjo did.... but what does he get? Name calling and blind tribalism.... But anyway, God dey shaa... I pray he blesses them and crowns their efforts with success, rewarding them according to their deeds... both the good, the bad, and the ugly/evil... Chima_Adeoye: All these useless Yoruba/ APC bigots. |
are you being honest? at least to yourself... and if you have kids and they asked you is we have made progress with GEJ's administration.... will your response be what you've just commented on here? at least, power and transportation, not to mention agriculture, you really believe there is nothing to write home about in these sectors under the present Admin.? egift: After Nigerians marched the streets and brought out GEJ from Madam YarAdua's kitchen, Jonathan in his weakness, Mr. President have remain at the service of the Cabals. |
lol for some reason, such comments often catch you offguard and can be a very "hard" punchline lol.... I remember the first time seeing a comment that had "their oily a s s e s... "(during those days no cenesors were introduced on NL)... again, the commen in the heat of the thread threw me off my own behind from the chair laughing so hard lol is why I keep coming back - every now & then someone will have ya rofl so bad... Gombs: The bold words threw me into an epileptic laughter |
On my way to work this morning I heard of Miley Cyrus (or however her name is spelt... ) being offered a million dollars to direct.. be the director... of a pornographic movie.... then a f ew minutes later, heard of Amanda Todd's 1 year suicide anniversary.... Then I couldn't help but voice my sentiments with my (Nigerian-raised) friend in the car with me, and my thoughts is along the same line as yours in that: I was disappointed with the culture, the "way" the western culture is raising this generation (Xers or what have you, X Y and Z (Corp. I couldn't help but just add that lol "Corp." in business school it was what was used for an imaginary company <<-- XYZ Corp.... anyhoo, I digress).... I went on to say that I often wonder if it is better raising a child or growing up in Nigeria or in the western and much developed countries... as I feel both has its merits and demerits. She told me though that from her recent visits to Nigeria.... western cultural imperialism is well on its way.... and that brought me back to a forgone sentiment I once had that we can not easily cherry-pick the aspects of western culture that we want, given that as we accept western education and technology is improving, making globalisation a rapid occurring phenomenon... its only a matter of time that I will call my village to be talking to a villager with a foreign accent - whether real or faked... if you're probably wondering how this is related to what your post is, dear OP.... well... my point on globalisation - the rapid way the earth is becoming one united village - of course united in fibre optics.... how information is able to travel in seconds from one part of the word to the other in 2013.... but once took 17 days or so for the death of King Lui the 4th of France to travel from France to England (will update this with the more accurate info.) so all the information our friend, Google, has and access to the vast information, and subsequently, education available on or via the internet, I agree with you that the more people know, the more possible it is for change to come, the change you and I & our generation needs... But I must say though.... that sometimes, ignorance is bliss.... We make fun of the old houses in Ibadan, but some foreigners (white people) will give an arm and a leg to experience life in a hut... I mean they go to the woods to camp and stuff during vacation time.... so I do feel that we are getting educated, but at the same time, there is a precious, valuable aspect of our culture that fades with it. Just before switching my laptop on to come on NL, I was trying to get inspiration to write an Igbo folk song, about our history, Ojukwu, Zik and past Igbo leaders, aabout the Biafran war/struggle, moonlight games, trips to the stream with buckets of water balanced on our heads and trying to walk without holding it (we called it "Shaking bottom" in my hood because we saw it as a girls' thing to show off her curves, as if you are holding the bucket even with one hand, it is difficult to do shake that thang while walking lol).... I sang songs I had learnt as a kid, and realized it was mostly songs taught to us from our househelps (and that of other fams in our hood) that came from the rural areas/villages... ) I believe kids now will be singing Barny songs on the playgrounds as opposed to "Mkup mkpu ogele... " - anyone?
For years we have sat in the face of our elders who keep repeating stories of their feats or how bag of rice was three naira or how effective post office was or how ferries were efficient or most popular how the Police was a mark of respect and how strong the naira was so strong then. I know many of us would have heard even more than I said, so the lies and truths are all on the table but the most significant is that Nigeria was a promising land then. Which led me to believe a picture of a good tree that produced a lot of fruits but was eventually cut down by some wicked people but as a tree, it is quite impossible to uproot with your bare hands hence the use of heavy machinery to actualize this. So how do we change this as a young generation? My simple proposition is “read”. Our educational system is porous I know but I see that the ruling powers in the country do all that they can to kill the education sector because with wisdom comes power. Once upon a time, Nigerians never knew the power of votes in election so they could sell it for 5000 naira but now, it could cost an arm and a leg. Take for instance, journalism is hardly investigative anymore that when a story is published, little is done to follow it true to the end. Also necessary literature that dealt with history has been taken out of our school curriculum so we cannot get access to how the founding fathers of this great nation sought independence. All the leaders want, is for us to take their word as it comes without checking through. We have monarch who do little or nothing but to seat there and collect royalties while we bear the burden on our shoulders. Their time is coming. They can do all that they can to stop us but it would not work because as gossip is seen as a wild fire so is information. One might say well all these have been said before but I want to encourage everyone us that it is working, it is gradual but we are getting to the point when young leaders will seat in courts and ask the older generation it is time to pay the price. The rise of police brutality and military oppression has dwindled because we know better. We have taken advantage of social media to spread information and the internet to study our equivalent in other countries. Take a look at how we respond to political information from the president. The Nigerians they once thought as foolish are coming for them. I am pretty sure now that Babaginda will retrieve his statement of “Nigerians can only bark but cannot bite”. |
Billo! ![]() I usually like & agree with your posts... but this one I differ... Chris hasn't had a bad record.... that I know of anyways.... but given the type of people he is chosen to associate with.... I really dunnno anymore.... I am leaning more towards nowhere! to be honest lol.. maybe a state of emergency ... Billyonaire: Anambra People know their tradition and Anambra People should vote the better thief.a political state of emergency lol |
Gbam! I wish this man will pull a fast one on the rascals and leave APC the very same day he is announced the winner ("IF" that is).... but with the culture of the Igbos, I aint putting my money on his doing that.... Dat~ibo~boi: |

a rebottle will be in order.... even if its not disproving the 21 so-called "sins"... how about letting us know X number of things Obi has done in the state that should make the populous trust his pick for the party.... and I wonder when this "picking" of a "replacement" of political and so-called democratic leaders will stop.... having said that... its so easy to list any body's sins.... is not why our Lord Jesus Christ (my Lord & personal Savior) said "... let he who is without sins cast the first stone?" the whole state can not be fixed in 7 years.... but still isn't or shouldn't be an excuse... at least, we shouldn't be retrogressing.... (this na the ogbonge English my primary school teacher blow for my report card - for a very young and playful happy-go-lucky primary 3/4 chap lol) kingbang: You just joined Nairaland on September 30th just to come and list Obi's sins. hahahhahaha |
Ezeigbo NL gburu gburu! Nkaa wu anya (gi, eh kwa? lol)! Onlytruth: You captured my sentiments exactly! The man changed the way I think about fellow Igbo...for the worse. |

“This is a woman who thinks more about how her headscarf looks, her jewelry and the jewelry of others Whats the deal with some men from a particular tribe in love with exchanging words with women as though they were primary school kids? And these so-called men are praised as heroes and models for the younger generation... lol... I really wonder what goes on in their head as they are saying such juvenile comments... do they even think before responding? its like the moment a woman replies them... they're so excited and just ejac'late crap without reason... real "men" indeed... bcomputer101: The Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, on Tuesday |
