People in this category certainly need Visas to enter Zimbabwe. He wasn’t coming in to work as a journalist. He said he was just coming to visit but without getting a Visa in Ghana first.
Other parts of his story were also unsatisfactory to the immigration authorities. He was considered not a candidate for entry into Zimbabwe."

David Hundeyin, a Nigerian independent journalist, has been detained in Harare Airport, Zimbabwe.

Mr Hundeyin raised the alarm over his detention at the airport in a series of tweets on Wednesday night.

“I landed in Zimbabwe earlier today, and I have been detained at Harare Airport inside a smelly locked room for nearly 7 hours,” he said. “They said that despite using the travel document of a country with a visa-free relationship, my nationality is still Nigerian, and thus, I need a visa.”

Sharing photos of himself and another lady, Mr Hundeyin said he and the Ugandan lady were locked in a room for hours.

“Alongside a lady from Uganda (also a visa-free country), I have been locked in a room with no windows or toilet, plus a bottle of pee on the floor,” Mr Hundeyin said.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday 18yh July met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Also said to be meeting with the President were the Governors Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), and AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq (Kwara).

While the purpose of the meetings remains unclear, Jonathan’s return to the Villa comes barely a month after his June 13 visit.


Jonathan, who doubles as Head of the ECOWAS Mediation Team to Mali, noted that the visit was to discuss issues pertaining to Africa and the West Africa subregion.

“I came to brief the president about some continental and subcontinental bodies,” he told journalists on his exit from the State House.

“I am the ECOWAS mediator for Mali and I’m the chair of the West African Elders Forum. So, there are certain issues bordering on the continent and the subregion that I discuss with various presidents.”
