BY Gbenga Ariyibi Ado Ekiti Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has castigated the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) and its presidential candidate, Major General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) for seeking the votes of Yorubas and people of Edo and Delta States rather than asking for their forgiveness Fayose and Buhari According to the statement by the Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media in Ado Ekiti yesterday, Lere Olayinka said it was disheartening while recounting the kind of inhuman treatment melted to some of the Yoruba leaders during the regime of Buhari in 1985 Some of the Yoruba leaders, according to the statement who tasted the bitter pill from Buhari included late Chief Obafemi Awolowo Awolowo, Chief Adekunle Ajasin, Chief Bisi Onabanjo, Chief Bola Ige, Alhaji Lateef Jakande and the immediate past APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande,” all of whom championed development and good governance in the Southwest States.” ”Buhari’s coup of 1983 destroyed the Southwest and the old Bendel State (now Edo and Delta) as it put an end to the developmental programmes of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) government in the Southwest States of Lagos, Oyo, Ogun and Ondo, as well as Bendel State.” Fayose described Buhari’s cancellation of the Lagos metroline project in 1985 as the grearest disservice to the Yoruba people in particular, and Nigerians in general. ”If Buhari had not cancelled the metroline project out of vendetta, transportation problems in Lagos would have been solved permanently. ”The metroline project would have made life easier and changed the face of transport in Lagos. But Buhari cancelled it an even went ahead to pay compensation to the French company that handled it. Buhari’s action cost Lagosians over $78 million then,” Fayose said. Speaking further, the governor said; “In Yorubaland, we were enjoying free education and free health before Buhari came. Then, all that was needed to go to primary and secondary schools was school uniform. Drugs were free. ”Apart from free education and free health, the Southwest witnessed rapid development. Lagos State University, Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), Ondo State University (now Ekiti State University), Ondo State Polytechnic (now Rufus Giwa Polytechnic), and several other institutions were established. ”As at 1979, Lagos State had no secretariat. Jakande’s government built the Alausa Secretariat within four years. Ajasin’s government built Alagbaka Secretariat in Akure within four years. Even the Lekki-Epe road on which they are now collecting tolls was constructed by Jakande. ”For all that they did for us in Yorubaland, what did Buhari do to Jakande, Ajasin, Bola Ige and Bisi Onabanjo? He jailed them and Bisi Onabanjo came out of prison with health issues that eventually claimed his life. ”What did Buhari do to reward Awolowo, whose party gave us free education and free health? Awolowo’s international passport was seized and he was prevented from travelling abroad for medical treatment. Awolowo died two years after! ”In 1984 that Buhari introduced school fees, thousands of our youths then dropped out of school. ”Therefore, Buhari who truncated the future of many of our people and jailed our leaders who served our land selflessly should be seeking forgiveness from Yoruba people, not votes.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/03/buharis-coup-of-1983-destroyed-the-southwest-and-the-old-bendel-fayose/

Many of these artistes have at a period released albums with hit tracks that made top list on TV shows, radio, clubs, party jams and so on. During their active days, you hardly find their names missing on the list of performers at big shows. They were highly sought after and probably made some cool cash. However, they now seem to have hibernated as they may have not worked on new albums for quite a while now. It is also possible that some of them may have bid music farewell and now doing great in their various chosen enterprises. Some may have turned to producers/directors et cetera, making them less popular on stage and on screen. Some may still be releasing albums but find difficulties in acceptability this time. We can only presume when facts concerning their career as musicians are not at our disposal. But the truth remains that we have at a period enjoyed their music and we still love them and wish them well in their endeavours. 1. Daddy Shokey 2. Tony Oneweek 3. Awilo Logomba 4. Baba Fryo 5. At first glance Esther Okade seems like a normal 10-year-old. She loves dressing up as Elsa from "Frozen," playing with Barbie dolls and going to the park or shopping. But what makes the British-Nigerian youngster stand out is the fact that she's also a university undergraduate. Esther, from Walsall, an industrial town in the UK's West Midlands region, is one of the country's youngest college freshmen. The talented 10-year-old enrolled at the Open University, a UK-based distance learning college, in January and is already top of the class, having recently scored 100% in a recent exam. "It's so interesting. It has the type of maths I love. It's real maths -- theories, complex numbers, all that type of stuff," she giggles. "It was super easy. My mum taught me in a nice way." She adds: "I want to (finish the course) in two years. Then I'm going to do my PhD in financial maths when I'm 13. I want to have my own bank by the time I'm 15 because I like numbers and I like people and banking is a great way to help people." And in case people think her parents have pushed her into starting university early, Esther emphatically disagrees. "I actually wanted to start when I was seven. But my mum was like, "you're too young, calm down." After three years of begging, mother Efe finally agreed to explore the idea. A marvelous mathematical mind Esther has always jumped ahead of her peers. She sat her first Math GSCE exam, a British high school qualification, at Ounsdale School in Wolverhampton at just six, where she received a C-grade. A year later, she outdid herself and got the A-grade she wanted. Then last year she scored a B-grade when she sat the Math A-level exam. I want to (finish the course) in two years. Then I'm going to do my PhD in financial maths when I'm 13. Esther Okade, 10-year-old college student Esther's mother noticed her daughter's flair for figures shortly after she began homeschooling her at the age of three. Initially, Esther's parents had enrolled her in a private school but after a few short weeks, the pair began noticing changes in the usually-vibrant youngster. Efe says: "One day we were coming back home and she burst out in tears and she said 'I don't ever want to go back to that school -- they don't even let me talk!' "In the UK, you don't have to start school until you are five. Education is not compulsory until that age so I thought OK, we'll be doing little things at home until then. Maybe by the time she's five she will change her mind." Efe started by teaching basic number skills but Esther was miles ahead. By four, her natural aptitude for maths had seen the eager student move on to algebra and quadratic equations. And Esther isn't the only maths prodigy in the family. Her younger brother Isaiah, 6, will soon be sitting his first A-level exam in June. http://edition.cnn.com/2015/03/09/africa/esther-okade-maths-genius/index.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fcnn_topstories+%28RSS%3A+Top+Stories%29 |

udatso:The news is everywhere online already. Most of my muslim friends and relatives are peace loving and they say there is no compulsion in religion. I am left to wonder who the true muslims are between these Arabians from where Muhammad came from and the Nigerians who embraced the religion. Another man, Badawi is to take 1000 lashes for criticizing Saudi's religion establishment. What we hear about Islam is different from what we see everyday. |
Empiree:There is no difference in attacking others by either opening threads or replying to threads opened by others. But I got your 'payback time' message. Goodluck! |
Mr. Empiree, I decided to cross check the John 1:18 you quoted- John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the father, he hath declared him. I believe the verse is clear enough. But I'll explain it a little because of those who may not understand. You can also read other simple versions easier to grasp. No man hath seen God because God is invisible (Col 1:15; 1 Ti 1:17) unless He chooses to reveal Himself. However, the Son hath declared him- He hath revealed Himself in the Son John 14:9 Pls always read the whole verse of the bible you intend to quote so you don't display ignorance. Pls open a new thread and deal on the subject matter here. Thanks |
Empiree:Mr. Empiree, read John 14:7-11. Chapter 9 ...he that hath seen me hath seen the father... I'll not bother you with several of such statements by Jesus. It seems to me that you are derailing this thread. Please create a new thread for your arguement and kindly deal on the comparison between Jesus and Muhammad as outlined in the op. |
I dedicated many years studying Islam after 9/11. I couldn't just reckon with the kind of life and about 90% of muhammad's teachings. I would love if muslims don't derail this thread but deal precisely on the comparison between Jesus and Muhammad as detailed in the op. |
The implementation of the 35 per cent import levy on used cars will now begin on June 30, 2015 as the Federal Government has once again shifted the commencement date by two months. In a move to encourage local assembling of vehicles, the government had in September 2013 raised the import tariff on fully-built cars and used vehicles from 22 per cent to 70 per cent made up of 35 per cent duty and 35 per cent levy. It also announced a zero per cent tariff on Completely Knocked Down units (vehicles) and five per cent to 10 per cent on Semi Knocked Down units. The first phase of the policy, involving the payment of the 35 per cent duty came into effect in February 2014. The Director-General, National Automotive Council, Mr. Aminu Jalal, informed our correspondent through a text message on Monday that a circular had been issued by the Federal Ministry of Finance deferring the implementation of the levy to June 30. He did not give any reason for the postponement. When the implementation of the second phase was first moved from July 1, 2014 to January 1, 2015, the government had said that it was to enable local vehicle assembly plants to ramp up production in order to meet the nation’s demand for brand new vehicles. When it was last month deferred again to April 30, 2015, the Federal Government said through NAC, an agency of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, that the postponement was due to the delay in establishing a vehicle finance scheme. Jalal had said, “The arrangement for the establishment of the affordable vehicle finance scheme suffered a delay of about four months due to the Ebola Virus Disease. The staff of the collaborating bank, Wesbank of South Africa, delayed their planned trip to Nigeria to set up operations from September 2014 to January 2015. “Hence, the new date for the start of operations of the financing scheme is April 2014. Accordingly, the Minister of Finance has been asked to extend the levy deferment on used cars to April 30, 2015.” Nigeria imports about 400,000 units of vehicles annually, with about 300,000 being second-hand. As a result of the devaluation of the naira and the subsequent rise in the cost of buying used vehicles and clearing them at the nation’s seaports, auto dealers at the Berger Yard Auto Market in Lagos have reduced the volume of importation by over 50 per cent. Port and Terminal Multi Services Limited, the largest terminal for vehicle imports, has recorded a 61 per cent drop in the volume of imported vehicles. The terminal had in January 2014 handled 16,000 units of vehicles, while only 6,200 passed through it last month. Efforts to get a response from the Special Adviser to the Minister of Finance on Media, Mr. Paul Nwabuikwu, proved abortive as he neither picked his calls nor respond to a text message sent to his mobile telephone. http://www.punchng.com/business/business-economy/35-levy-on-tokunbo-vehicles-begins-july-1/ |

I had a deal to seal yesterday at an office near a big church. I have watched this acclaimed man of God on few occasions on a TV station. He now seems to be staring at me without blinking his eye lids from a wide banner hung on the fence. I immediately recalled it wasn't my first time seeing that face. 'I have watched this man on TV', I told the officer who saw me to the curbside. I asked him if he attends the church and he disdainfully said "No o' almost immediately. I noticed his countenance and then further ask if he has an issue with the church or the founder. This is the second time I'll hear this from different people. In the first instance, some years back a man told me he paid some money to see a pastor. The officer said the minimum you can pay to see the man of God is 5000 naira. You can book for quick response by paying as high as 50k or even more. These charges are just for consultation or counselling. The tendency that you pay a huge amount after the initial charge that will make the seer pastor act on your case is very high. When he was through, I quickly remembered-Mathew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Then I asked myself why some self acclaimed pastors must rip off those in dare need of spiritual intervention. Apart from the fact that these charges have already segregated and denied the poor from seeing the 'man of God' for counselling and spiritual guidance, it is worldly and ungodly with no scriptural basis. Christians should wake up to the reality that there are so many wolves among the sheep. There are false prophets and pastors everywhere dragging the Lord’s name in the mud by commercializing spiritual activities. Matt 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Many people got trapped by these fake pastors because they want fast miracles and couldn't wait on the Lord. The incongruous result many get from these voracious ministers is enslavement and not the miracle they sought. There are still true pastors who will neither force nor cajole you to pay a dime before you can be prayed for or counselled except you decide to water them on your own accord. I encourage us to be sound in doctrine so we do not become as suckers holding our self in the captivity of fraudulent end time preachers. Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Jesus never requested anyone to pay a penny after receiving great miracle. How can a pastor now justify a compulsory sum of 5k before consulting him when he may not even be able to solve your problem? ![]() |
Honestly there is power in that name. The Bible says at the sound of the name JESUS, every kneel must bow... Whenever I'm upright, I have boldness to use it in my nighmares and my tormentors will disappear. Whenever I have a pending case of sin to settle or have not repented of a sin, I wouldn't be able to shout the name in my dream- something will seize the sound of my voice. Its only sin, doubt, and unbelieve that will make demons dare the sound of that name, JESUS. |

At least she has created a sport we can call bouquet catching |
Always the bridesmaid, never the bride? American woman Jamie Jackson has submitted an application to Guinness World Records, claiming she’s caught 46 bouquets since 1996 and has the papers to prove it. The current record of 11 bouquets has been held by Pennsylvania’s Stephanie Monyak since 2004. There was a battle over the bouquet in Muriel’s Wedding Jackson said she has been to as many as 100 weddings over the years because of her family’s connections to musical theatre and their church. She says that what began as a hobby has turned into ‘her sport’. ‘It is something that you have to plan for and you have to be very strategic where you place yourself,” she told local TV station KSL. The hobby turned into ‘her sport’ ‘My strategy is to be right up in the front because a lot of time the brides don’t know how far they are going to throw it. ‘A lot of times it will hit a ceiling, it’ll hit a chandelier … I’ve had many, many catches where I’ve had to jump for it. And I’ve hit little kids by accident.’ Jackson had to track down all the brides whose bouquets she caught to obtain documentation and photos before she could apply to the organisation. Jackson’s strategy is to be right up the front for the throw She was delighted to discover that 44 of the 46 brides were still married. ‘I consider myself a good luck charm,’ she said. Jackson has disproved the belied that a woman who catches a bouquet will be the next to get hitched. She said some people joke that she’s staying single just so she can catch more bouquets, but she assures them that is not the case. http://www.evoke.ie/extra/bridal-bouquet-world-record-woman-says-she-caught-46/# |
