I am not understanding this part: "that a militant leader in its custody, Oyawerikumor Peregbabofa, popularly known in the creeks of the Niger Delta as Karaowei, was later killed in an ambush Did he escape and was later killed in an ambush or was this another extra-judicial hit? I really don't care Congrats to the productive collabo between the military and police in taking down vermin The problem of the militants is "our oil mentality" - it's what gives them impetus, plus politicians 2019 coming up Kidnappings are like warms ups for them Reality is rented, and his rent was due |
The financial value of the creative industry in UK has it's turnover in Billions Creative industries are driven by youth 65% of Nigeria's 200+ million population is under the age of 24 The nation's median age is 18 What are we waiting for? The Ministry of Information and others should partner more with foreign cultural organisations like British Council and the Goethe Institute to develop platforms for knowledge share among their young creatives and ours Content is the new gold With a 200+ million population, social media followings are in the millions - imagine what Government intervention would do for our creative industry? I'll tell you what - JOBS! So I ask again, what are we waiting for? |
Their problem is knives, as guns are to the Americans Our problem is our leaders, as flies are to a cow's tail I say we give them our leaders and take their knives Maybe then, the life of this young man would've been saved |
This is tragic I pray their souls find rest from the carnivorous hate feeding away at what is left of the Middle belt. The food basket of the nation, not any more - death has taken residency as farmers and herdsmen clash. This is most aggravated by the Anti-Grazing law, which ever since it's announcement, killings seems to have increased. My only ask from Government, is to have a long and deep look at what is happening - especially with 2019 next door. And Nigerians, 2019 is next year - My question to you is - "To be, or not to be?" |

I posted a similar thread in 2015 and in-between unemployment has risen from 9.9% to 13.9%! That's 15,012,041 economically active Nigerians without jobs, or 1-in-7 employable Nigerians. Put it this way, for every 32 relatives you have, 4 are likely out of jobs and possibly need support. Given the situation of things, this number would also be vulnerable to job scams by fraudsters promising jobs but delivering tears. From horror job stories here, I believe there's need for ways to verify the authenticity of advertised jobs. With help from HR friends, an email has been put out where you can send details of jobs whose authenticity you are unsure: end.employmentfraud@gmail.com Please share. Seun Lalasticlala |

Xfire, can I make the suggestion that you share a link on the questions for those who didn't participate for the purpose of learning and practice. I'm also keen to know the complexity of test as I won't mind working a project with one of these bright minds. What the Government never sees is the cerebral potential of youth. I firmly believe if we established thinking farms in our universities where a select group of students are given real problem scenarios facing the country, and then asked to present detailed workable solutions, you'll be amazed with the depth of results. Personally, when I kick off my thing, my priority will be partnering with young creatives on business solutions. I'll create flexible work situations where university students and recent graduates can work with me in a freelance manner where they have the benefit of extra income and experience while I get quality work for a lower fee. Design thinking is the future and someone should tap into our youths. Excellent work Xfire, the Internet never forgets good deeds. |
Karin001:Excellent work Karin! You, my friend, have done your bit to restore faith in humanity. Your level of knowledge share really must be commended. I see someone with extreme vertical market understanding with willingness to share, take it you've been blessed. Should you need data analytical help for work with your mentees, I'll be glad to support by showing how your numbers are working and could work better. For instance, you could measure growth made by mentees by measuring monthly distribution output and overlaying with those of others. This gives a good idea on the top performers and how to share what works for them with others having lower output. Thinking even farther, this data can be used to shape a new distribution model that favors young and agile enterpreneurs emerging in a Recession of opportunities (paradox, but true). This is true because our local production is really kicking in and the implications will be what I'll term the deregulation of the FMCG sector, where entrants with low capital, now have access to a growing market of products seeking to replace foreign ones affected by the exchange rate. How? The implications of your model could shape, with good oversight, the emergence of a lean and flexible distribution network powered by young individual enterprenuers. Depending on how it grows, this model could potentially run parallel with the traditional form of distributorship where high network individuals usually corner the supply of FMCGs particularly the foreign ones. This period in my view, is the best time for entry into the market, as the collapse of the naira has led to an increase in local production. What this also says to me is that, there are lots of new manufacturers coming out who need distributorship strength and what better way to tap into it than by having a young distributor network with an online backbone. With proper research and communication, your mentee community could even assist with data collation to aid market analysis of the region each resides in, giving the advantage where you all can pool information/funds to secure exclusive distributor rights for certain regions from a new-to-market company with potential. And believe me there's lots of them. Did I also mention that groups like this are favored by the BOI? with proper documentation, expansionary concessions could be sought from financial arms of the Government. A pilot phase such as yours, could provide insight on how this online distributor community model could be replicated across the country. Think of this, a group of 12 people comprising a Senior Business Analyst, admin/analyst and 10 young people who collectively and individually deal on say 15 - 25 product types in a specific region; SE/NW etc. The functional Business Lead, will provide direction on market flow supported by analysis gotten from feedback of the group on things like sales, product adoption rate, product feedback from consumers, competitor pricing, etc. Encouraging cross pollination of ideas as what sells cold in place A could be hot in place B, affording the opportunity for product swaps or shared distributorships all within the group. I'd be happy to know that the dairy product giving me low sales in Makurdi can't stay long on shelves in Uyo. I can thereby reach within the group ecosystem to one who is based in Uyo and would be willing to take on my stock, rather than sell at a loss. I could go for hours on the potentials of your undertaking, but I'd rather stop here and wish you and your mentees the best. |
Good response from the traffic team though.

Please share this mail with others as we have started receiving requests which I will start posting here so others will know which jobs to avoid. Edit. Below is a recent mail we received. First point: Conoco Phillips no longer exists as it was sold to Oando. Second point: the website is a fake Third: No company on earth will make you an offer when you have not submitted all requisite documents. May the wise be guided.

With National unemployment figures at 9.9% of an active working population of 75.9 million, you can trust that several persons are already keying in on this gullible percentage. Sob stories especially from those seeking Government jobs are everywhere, with pleas unable to bring back money lost to fraudsters who promise jobs but deliver tears. I am not criticism inclined and won't hold the Government to this, even as it falls squarely on them to educate job seekers on consistent guidelines for seeking employment across State and Federal institutions rather than the present situation where anyone can create Government/private letterheads with an intent to fleece the disadvantaged. This is something I feel strongly about and with the support of a few volunteers within the HR community we have created the email account end.employmentfraud@gmail.com for jobseekers uncertain about an employment offer to send in details for authentication. All enquiries should give as much detail on the entity/job offer in question and a feedback loop of 2-3 days be given as this is Pro bono and will be treated off work hours. Thank you. benbruceisright:. Give this man a beer. You speak the truth many a time but remember foolish people are oblivious to it. I'm pro-democracy and can't distinguish between parties but I'll wish Sylva to have this one. Dickson could. Most importantly, I'd like you to retain your constituency. You ignite respectable criticism on the system to a sizable and young audience. Harness this by following up with an image narrative on being part of the solution and not the problem. You're well funded enough to make it look pro-bono. My 2 kobo. |
In a parallel universe you would be with me now. I played basketball too with a thousand friends also, difference is I'd give you the attention you seek ![]() Give him time to grow into his new role. Inbetween, busy yourself with other things. Besides, Somalia is just 6 hours from here ![]() |
The Government can do better for the Police, in turn leading to better security and less harrassment. This images paint the reality, what sort of Force uses such shambolic scraps in the day to day combat of crime? We hear on the News of rampaging criminal elements with urban style break-in backed by technical escape plans, some using speedboats even. Then we, the citizens become outraged and demand the powers that be to expedite action and bring the unjust to justice. However, in some cases this is the reality on ground.

Will you accept 12m? I will need to see the C of O on behalf of my client before proceeding with negotiations. |
PassingShot:The problem with gas is that the producers will rather sell outside as they have a better return on production costs. Also, infrastructure is an issue. Pipelines have to be built to connect the gas plants with the power stations. A couple are being built. The costs involved are massive, even for private investors. It will take time but the foundation has been laid. |
PassingShot:I worked in the Power sector and can tell you that those reforms can not be implemented over night. It shows ignorance when people comment on issues they have no idea about. I've been to several Power Nigeria conferences with stakeholders and listened in on Q&A sessions. The reforms are real and its implementation is gradual. |
ItsMeAboki:You made a very unfair statement. You shouldn't be promoting any form of marginalization; political, ethnic or religious, it's not right. |
Truckpusher:Stop joining issues with this DropShot guy. The thickness is strong on this one ![]() |
Dollar101:Barcanista please respond to this as my thread has been derailed to accommodate the wranglings between yourself & Musiwax. His supporters demand your response. @Dollar101, I am neutral here, I support logic and logic only. If there's a counter-claim that makes more sense, I'll go with that. |
I pride myself by being the most politically neutral person on Nairaland. You can trust that my opinions here are unbiased and will always be objective. We recently achieved a peaceful transition and a very first where a ruling party suddenly found itself in opposition and the other way round for the opposing party. The likely fallout is propaganda, lies, smear campaigns and idle rants from people with displaced interests (PDI). And there lies the problem. All I read is criticism and almost non of which is constructive. Threads and counter-threads. Which brings me to wonder if people are actually paid for this as I can't imagine using my precious time to power the research needed to counter an opposing logic (My g/friend also demands attention). This brings me back to the intent of this thread. I have been following with interest the arguments between pro-Buharists and pro-Jonathans and I will say the most interesting to date has been "Barcanista vs Musiwax". I read facts and saw how good education and a sound mind can turn one into a productive member of the society. Atlas, I was to be let down. I stand with Barcanista on this one: the President was in error for that comment drawing parallels between his government and Obamas. It was false as proven and marks his excellency down by a point in my opinion. The truth is rot or no rot, you shake the faith of your voters when your decision making appears prolonged, weak and indecisive. As for Musiwax, no disrespect but please stop joining words with people above your intellectual capacity. Reason? below is your counter thread. https://www.nairaland.com/2469572/buharis-article-buhari-right-2 And below is one of your sources: http://www.theonion.com/article/ray-lahood-resigns-following-mysterious-disappeara-31065 "Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood announced his resignation from the Obama Administration earlier this morning following his alleged involvement in the recent disappearance of U.S. Route 13. “Given his ongoing role in the investigation regarding last week’s sudden disappearance of this road, Mr. LaHood believes it is best that he step down from his position as Transport Secretary,” How can a road disappear? And how can you quote from a comic news parody website in an argument with adults? Everyone knows The Onion news runs humorous commentaries on daily issues. Please just stop your analysis as you might end up dumbing down your audience with such misleading write-ups and references. I believe there are better NL analysts that can support your position better, refer to them. Thanks. |
I don't see how the OP can't see his "Senior Moments" as a problem. I work in a corporation and you get paid to deliver or be sent out, no excuses. PMB pledged to give his all to the welfare of our nation, I think his "Senior Moments" will in some ways detract his effectiveness. If however, he delivers, then that will be an aspect we will overlook and of course make memes' out of. |
Antoinne:I gave my previous comment a thought while munching my way to the arrivals. I retract that comment. Yeah, I said it. Too many people bashing your opinion here, I can't subscribe to that. My ex also had "Posh Syndrome" so I can identify. Had to teach her how to eat pounded yam with her hands, price a black cab, choose friends based on their post code (SW 12), stay away from Harrods, introduced her to TK Maxx, fly Ryanair, test drive a Ferrari with your student I.D, tip a Michellin star Chef, visit Peckham and not get robbed. Feel me yet? I doubt. |
Antoinne:Well well, what do we have here. Kids, here's a proper example of a cultured, well mannered, blue eyed sophisticat who eats birdsized food portions and sh*ts rainbows. Truth is Antoine, you have a serious complex problem going on. Only people with low esteem issues will always want to hold themselves to the standard of others. You keep mouthing on about being cultured, are you more cultured than Queen and her royal family? How many times do you see them on Tv trying to act normal like the rest of us? Respect yourself and the decision of others, no one made you a judge of what's cultured or not. Talking like you some high flyer or something. It's the pretentious types that really take the piss. Guess what, I'm on my way to the airport and I'm making sure to come off that plane with packs of takeaways. My security guys picking me up will appreciate that. But I guess they'll be types like yours judging me when I come off. |
kogistan:Prepare for it and try and make your way down. For those that are rounding up NYSC July 2nd, you will allowed for the assessment. |
smurfy:It's more than just N12,000. You don't know me and what I can do for those that help. |
Gunbiz:Funny, I know it looks somehow but I will basically subject the person to an online version of the test. Doesn't make sense to pay someone to teach me when he can't even pass it. |
