Politics › Re: Expensive Diesel, Expansive Economic Crisis by RepoMan007: 10:29am On Jun 28, 2022
Tianamen1:
Dear Author,

Nigeria's current problems with inflation stem for decisions made in the last 12 years. Decisions such as GEJ not saving funds in the excess crude account, to Buhari not raising taxes on the rich and/or reducing recurrent expenditure (reduced compensation for public servants and reducing the number of MDA's)

Nigeria's future problems include the shift to renewables which is being hastened by the Russian invasion of Ukraine as you rightly noted.

Between 2011 and 2014, crude prices average over $110 per barrel and the local cost for a liter of petrol without subsidies in naira was about 140(the amount GEJ set it to before the subsidy protest). the increase in price of diesel isn't as a result of crude oil prices but as a result of the reasons I stated in paragraph 1.

As Milton Friedman said " inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon", so it is true that Nigeria is on a path to hyperinflation because it cannot focus on handling its macroeconomics issues.

You correctly identified the problem, but your solutions would not work.

Nigeria needs to raise taxes on imported goods such as cars, phones, building materials. Basically, tax things that rich people spend money on apart from food, to limit the demand for dollars within the country. This will aid the accretion of our foreign reserves and excess crude account, thus stopping the bleeding of the Naira.

The government should also consider reducing the cost of governance by reducing the number of MDA (implementing the Oronsaye report) and reducing public servants allowances and pay.

This is how to reduce the price of diesel.
How much is Buhari saving now that oil prices are high? Learn to criticize with some balance.
Our structure is a demonic one where the things that reverses bad economic fortune are stifled. That's why from one administration to the other as time progresses, things are on a downward slope and only the rate of that slope varies according to performance of the leaders.
All the top oil producing countries practically own their oil assets and make good use of those assets for jobs and earnings. Ours is a different story. Instead where are being brainwashed to believe that refinery can only work when privately owned.

keep dreaming. This was how they showed many project before 2015 and went silent. 2023 is around the corner and they want to confuse us. How many schools can the whole Nigerian budget build at this rate.

MTN got it wrong thinking they could just Waltz into the banking sector and take everything.

They should have done dry runs and possibly a little test runs before going public. I believe they are being sabotaged as this is not just a simple fraud.

Wilgrea7:
This is circular reasoning.

You're claiming the Pharoah was a muslim based on a muslim text that supports the idea which claims that the Pharoah was a Muslim.

It's circular reasoning. A more credible source would be an independent historical document on the life of Pharoah.

Secondly, the idea of claiming that anyone who existed before the time of the prophet Muhammad was a Muslim is simply word gymnastics at play.

The whole concept of Islam revolves not just around believing in a singular god (many religions did that). It centers on following the Islamic texts, and accepting the prophet Muhammad as one of the prophets of said god.

Anyone who existed before his time could not have satisfied those criteria, and is therefore not a Muslim.
From the data available here, The writer/narrator of that quran portion was present when pharoah drowned yet wasnt with the Israelites. It could only have been an angel. Probably that angel fell and later possessed the narrator for him to say he was present when pharoah drowned.

Family › Re: Should The Woman Pay Rent If Husband Is Not Financially Stable? by RepoMan007:
Man has suffered a lot o.
Going by scriptural standards, they are suppose to work, though mostly from home and on less risky tasks. The man did the heavy liftings in the bible while the women kept the vine and home mostly but joined their husbands for harvest. That makes women to be productive and in an age where so many things can exchanged for money, I expect a woman to be open to the idea of financially supporting whatever noble thing the husband is trying to do.

In Nigeria of today where the buying power of money is fast going out, that 14 months would have been 28 months 10 years ago.
Since it is also possible for a man to impregnate another Lady after a wife's demise let's take it easy with her but then the pregnancy is another mouth to be feed in few moths time.

Politics › Re: Nigerians ‘Consume’ 2bn Litres Of Petrol In 28 Days by RepoMan007: 8:41am On Jun 25, 2022
babaolofin:
The main problem is subsidy. Okonjo Iweala since 2015 said Subsidy should be removed. I know a lot about oil sector. 2 billion at time of fuel scarcity in some States. It is a deal. Your theoretical analysis cannot work in the oil sector for now.
There is nothing theoretical about replacing fossil fuel with renewables. It has been happening in nations smaller than Abuja in size.
Subsidy, I insist, isn't the issue but corruption. Which is easier to smuggle between money in the hands of well connected looters and petrol in the hands of poor fuel vendors? It shows who you are and your interests. Get lost.
Politics › Re: Nigerians ‘Consume’ 2bn Litres Of Petrol In 28 Days by RepoMan007: 8:21am On Jun 25, 2022
That's average 65m litres a day. Block smuggling and watch it come down to 35m litres a day. Engage aggressive use of alternative energy and you have 20-25m a day range.
Corruption is our main problem and not subsidy. Even if we remove subsidy corruption will only change hands and leave the masses worse off.

The most unproductive civil service in the world, characterized with nepotism, favouritism, lukewarmness at its peak, lackadaisical in operation, tribalism, godfatherism and all.

It becomes worse when one Aboki who doesn't know how to write ABC is being placed on a Grade level 9 salary scale, while you with a degree and a well grounded mind is still struggling at the gate of one organisation as a serial Lima or senior guard in a private security company with a monthly pay of 15k.

Is that not sickening to the ears?
This CORNTREE been don rotten since!!!
Exactly. No increase in productiveness but increase in salary even when the nation is being crippled by debt. It is nothing more a stupid political move to score points in the minds of thoughtless civil servants who don't care about their work but money.
Politics › Re: FG Hints At Salary Increase For Civil Servants, Uncovers ‘5,000’ Ghost Workers by RepoMan007: 11:21am On Jun 24, 2022
What a senseless move. This halfhearted move is pure politics and makes zero economic sense. A government that's knee deep in debt shouldn't be looking to increase salaries when there hasn't been any corresponding increase in productivity. Buhari is simply writing his name in the good books of the workers all at the expense of the nation's pocket that's already reading negative.
