Food › Re: Hardship: FCT Consumers Turn To ‘awara’ As Substitute For Meat by RepoMan007: 2:08am On Mar 01, 2024 |
IbeOkehie: I stopped eating meat about 20 years ago. I do eat fish, milk and eggs. I'm a big fan of using beans as a meat substitute. Processed appropriately, it's basically the same texture and nutrients. It's analogous to akara or bean cakes. I also use bean powder as a substitute for yam powder or garri in making foo-foo.
Everyone should try it. There's a wide variety of beans out there. Red meat and garri/yam powder are unhealthy, especially in the amounts consumed by Nigerians as part of their routine diets. I've done self testing to measure the effects of all these various foods on glucose levels and it's clear beans are the better choice.
Good Luck to Nigerians. Nobel L? |

matify83: His jab at NLC showed him as far from being a Democrat.
Must it take an eternity for labour to protest his damaging economic policies since 9 months is not enough time to assess an administration?
When he leveraged on organized labour to stage a rally against GEJ for removing subsidy, labour then had no political proclivity abi?
I'm ashamed of his thought train in this matter. Imagine Yaradua and GEJ politicizing protest against Mimiko. That's what the amala and ewedu eater is doing n Abuja. Trying to control behavioural pattern of the people economically with interest rates and money printing. |

He prefers politics to governance so politicizes any cry to the hardship his rule is known for.
Removed then introduced subsidy again. Floated then unfloated again by pegging rates.
He needs a reality check. |

Politics › Re: The Irrationality Of The CBN Interest Rate Hike by RepoMan007: 4:41pm On Feb 29, 2024 |
This works perfectly in the Western world where virtually everyone has access to consumer credit and any increase in interest rates will affect their spending pattern. However, in Nigeria, consumer credit is almost nonexistent in our banking industry and as such increase in interest rates is unlikely to affect consumer spending, rather it will negatively affect businesses and those in the productive sector that we need to produce more so that costs can come down. They took textbook jargon and implemented it forgetting the difference between our credit system and that of the advanced nations makes all the difference here. The rampant form of consumer credit in Nigeria are the loan apps whose interest rates already are above 22-23%. SMEs MSMEs mostly take loans for critical assets and equipments needed and not for consumer patterned spending. Workers take loans for one time purchases like cars, houses, land or businesses. Aesthetics will fail us if we do not embrace import substitution on time. This is just a postponement of the day of reckoning. |

Lots of people believe binance is a fair place to get rate of forex but it turns out there are manipulators on the platform. They always place large amount of forex for sales at higher rates above market average, something people will see but can may never close a deal with, and then use that leverage to trade smaller amount above market average. Repeat that step and you can send the rates higher than it actually is. |

Food › Re: Are some retailers deliberately hiking prices? Whats happening In Nigeria? by RepoMan007: 2:53pm On Feb 29, 2024 |
That's what happens when a trade is oversaturated. Instead of 100 mega stores selling groceries, 1000 road side stalls are, and everyone wants to make enough to cover their needs. They have to hike prices of goods they sell. The reasonable thing will be for some of the hands doing retailing to move closer to the wholesale and production part of the whole product life cycle.
Instead of risking going into farming and start making reasonable amount of money, they form a union, regulate prices and continue with their lives. The end users suffer the cost. |

In another news from LIB thieves now go for food and leave gadgets alone. Akpu banditry was birthed under the so-called builder of our commercial capital. Armed robbers invaded a woman's house in Mosagar community in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta state and stole beverages, raw and cooked food including pots of stew and soup. Nigerian activist, Comrade Israel Joe, who disclosed this in a Facebook post said the incident happened on Wednesday night, February 28, 2024. According to Mr. Joe, the robbers didn't take any of her valuables including phones and laptop. “There was robbery in Mosagar, Delta State yesterday at about 8:13pm. The robbers broke into the woman's house and ordered her to lie down. It wasn't clear of they were carrying guns but she clearly said three of the boys entered into her house,” he wrote. They left her phones and her laptop. They dispossessed and emptied her kitchen, carting away with almost half bag of rice, her cooked food, including the soup and stew in her refrigerator. They packed up a little beverage in her fridge and one of them drank one can coke in her present before they left. This is where we have gotten to, at the moment, young men robbíng people of their food. As they narrated the ordeal to me, I felt deeply sad. |
