Themanleshey: The truth is that Nigeria has population but it’s useless because the economy has been impoverished due to bad economy policies .
The economy has been killed with subsidy , same as Eletricity. So is Nigeria producing electricity again from natural resources for the government to be subsidizing it ? Nigeria subsidize almost everything while it’s citizen remain poor and unproductive .
The country need to be industrialized but not when you cap investors profit in the name of subsidy .
I have been opportuned to visit some African countries , no where in those country will you see citizens paying as little as 5 k for eletricity monthly , no where will you see govt struggling to paying citizens 30 k as minimum wage as monthly salary .
Nigeria govt had managed the economy badly in the name of subsidy and have deprived the country from growing on its own , while the citizens feel comfortable in poverty in the name of enjoying free everything .
The economy is hitting me badly myself , I have parked my car for almost 8 months now because I can’t afford to fuel it like I used to , still am not bittered because I love my country and i don’t have to be selfish and think about my self alone when I see a government who is willing to take the right economy decisions . I wonder who the three people who liked and shared your post are. Subsidy is not bad. It is subsidy for consumption purpose that's bad. All industrialized countries have strategic subsidies targeted at productive sector to make their industries competitive in Intl market. Before petrol subsidy was readjusted, people were travelling for so many unproductive purposes. Hookup, massive burial ceremony, bogus marriage ceremony, senseless holidays, crusades etc. Since the price of petrol tripled, those trips have reduced drastically and nobody died anywhere because of it. That's tells us, it was mainly consumption and never production or survival related. It(petrol subsidy) was being used to fulfil wants and not needs. Same thing is happening with electricity subsidy, forex subsidy and even petrol subsidy. Same derailment is also affecting Health Insurance Schemes in advanced countries. Someone wants cosmetic surgery and gets on the queue before another person fighting for life. Want versus need. Want won. I don't know where you got your ideas from. |

Politics › Re: Govs Responsible For $/N Hike, Converting Allocations To Dollars - Idris Usman by RepoMan007: 6:15pm On Feb 22, 2024 |
AMI3: So it is this regime that the governors become so smart to be storing money in hard currency.
I thought Tunubu will do something different when he criticized Jonathan or learn from Buhari mistakes.
Why was he so desperate? they have always done but in the face of fx scarcity and excess cash(in the governor's hands), they have more cash than ever to demand less forex than ever. That creates the largest demand-supply gap for fx in our history and a corresponding highest fx price. Let me challenge you directly, what are they doing with the huge allocation thy started receiving under Tinubu? They can barely pay minimum wage and when they do, it is moderate increase just to beat the mark. So where is all the money going to? The answer is staring us in the face. The last place printed money should go is where these heartless bunch take it to. |
Politics › Re: Govs Responsible For $/N Hike, Converting Allocations To Dollars - Idris Usman by RepoMan007: 6:07pm On Feb 22, 2024 |
nairalanda1: Ultimately it is because of the fact that we are not even earning enough of the dollars in the first place, that we are now noticing all the shenanigans people do around getting dollars. lack of dollar/fx is one reason but tunnelling allocation as loot to forex market to demand for fx is another nobody is talking about. What have they done with huge allocations in last 36 months? Riddle me that. They can barely pay minimum wage. No spectacular projects or initiatives or schemes. Where is the money going to? |
Politics › Re: Govs Responsible For $/N Hike, Converting Allocations To Dollars - Idris Usman by RepoMan007: 5:58pm On Feb 22, 2024 |
nairalanda1: And now we blame the governors.
Who's next in the blame game? They will probably blame us Nairalanders next week for our provocative comments on the naira fall.
At the end we are not producing enough forex earning stuff I concur with the topic. The huge allocations they had been receiving lately is not showing anywhere. The only logical theory is that they are tunnelling it to the forex market to secure the value of their loot. At a time Nigerians spend 60% of earning on food and cant feed, manufacturers shutting down, please tell me who is demanding so much forex? For what purpose. Open your eyes and see. FAAC has doubled in last 3 years. |
