Read the press statement from Ohakim's office below... Former Governor of Imo State Chief Ikedi Ohakim has left the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to his house in Asokoro. Ohakim spent less than five hours with the anti-graft Agency, before he was left to go home. Chief Ikedi Ohakim who was at the EFCC office few hours past five pm, yesterday expressed surprise that overzealous officials of the anti-graft Agency could go ahead to invade his house with paid media men in order to score cheap points and achieve some credibility stunts.Having left office as Governor more than four years ago, the former Governor was investigated by the EFCC on the same charges as the present one, as a result of the same frivolous petition sponsored by enemies of Imo State and Igboland who feel that their criminal plans against the State Ndi Igbo would be thwarted by the highly respected elder Statesman. Ohakim clarifies that he is always ready to honour any invitation extended to him by all legitimate agencies of government, since he does not have any skeletons in his cupboard. He warned however, that all public officials, especially those charged with the sensitive responsibility of fighting graft must not allow themselves to be used as pawns, by desperate political renegades, who cling to the smallest straw for political survival and relevance. A more detailed press statement will be out soon. SOURCE http://www.reportnaija.com/2015/06/former-governor-ohakim-leaves-efcc.html

The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) under the leadership of Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State has denied any reconciliation with the Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi- led Forum. In a statement released in Abuja and signed by the Secretary and Administrator of the Forum, Osaro Onaiwu, the governors stated that any such reconciliation attempt was futile as a majority of the governors will be out of office in a matter of days and therefore should leave issues of reconciliation, reorganization and a new Chairman to the incoming governors. The statement further described the purported reconciliation as a selfish attempt by a group of governors to force new leadership of the forum on the in-coming governors. The governors noted that both the Chairman, Jonah Jang and his Deputy, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state along with the majority of governors were visibly absent because they did not consider it a priority at this late hour to be part of a selfish project. Five Star Music signee, song writer and producer, Harrison Tare Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong has reconciled with his step mother. The artiste mended ways with Mrs. Tonye Okiri at his father’s burial on Saturday May 2, 2015. Late Denis Osiris died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 in Port Harcourt after a brief illness and was buried in his hometown, Ogbe Ijoh community in Warri, Delta State. However, the burial, which turned to a carnival, also served as an opportunity for Harrysong and his step mother he once called ‘wicked’ to bury their hatchet. REPORT NAIJA gathered that before the burial commenced proper, elders of the Okiri family called a family meeting with Harrysong and his step mom in attendance where they were both advised to sheathe their swords. The reconciliation didn’t end there as the singer further made it public during his performance, where he sang a special rendition of his song, ‘Story’ to the delight of his kinsmen and the crowd in attendance. Recall that a few months ago, Harrysong released a song titled Story, where he told the story of his life as well as the harsh treatment he received from his step mom. The whole story was at the burial re-written, when he performed another version of the song and said his step mother, showed him love. Speaking at the ceremony, Harry explained that “I sang the earlier version of this song out of anger, but today, I have assumed the position of a father and a husband since my father is no more. “I have realized that my step mom actually used those extreme correctional measures because she loves me and because I have released my mistake, I’m doing this version of the song to tell the world how much she loves me.” A raw video of the performance shows the woman breaks down as Harry eulogised her. She was said to have also apologized to Harrysong for treating him badly. Harrysong thereafter lightened his hometown, Ogbe Ijoh with an electrifying performance alongside his record label boss, Kcee. There was confusion at a filling station along the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road after a female police inspector attached to the Airport Police Command and identified as Mrs. Florence Anih, was slapped by a Nigerian Air Force lance corporal. The lance corporal, who was in a truck marked, Rotary Group 205, was identified as Friday Zadiel. The incident happened last Wednesday. Zadiel was said to be with another officer, who did not wear a name tag. Punch learnt from an eyewitness that the victim had driven into a branch of Forte Oil Filling Station on Airport Road to fill her fuel tank and discovered that there was a queue, which she joined. However, when it came to her turn, the station attendant saw that her fuel tank was not directly facing the pump. She was reportedly asked to turn her car for the tank to be in direct contact with the nozzle. It was learnt that as she tried to turn as the attendant advised, Zadiel saw her and thought she was attempting to beat the queue. He was said to have ordered her to go back to the end of the queue. In the ensuing argument, Zadiel, who was in full military outfit, allegedly slapped Florence. He was also said to have used his hand to break the windscreen of the policewoman’s car. A witness, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Zadiel and his colleague had earlier been given preferential treatment and allowed to fill the tank of their vehicle because they claimed to be on a special mission. He said, “The woman was on the queue and was not putting on a uniform. When it got to her turn, her fuel tank was at the other side of where the nozzle was. “She was asked to turn and as she moved forward, the person behind her quickly filled the space and the attendant pleaded with the woman to be patient. “He attended to the person behind her and was about to attend to her when the air force man came from the back and said the policewoman would not buy the fuel. The air force man said he was on a special assignment.” The manager of the station reportedly intervened and ordered that the woman be served. The witness added that Florence, however, said the officer and his colleague should be attended to since they were on a special assignment. “After they were served, the air force man insisted that the woman should go back to the end of the queue. “He started banging on her car and the woman challenged him. So, he told her, ‘you are stupid’ and the woman also replied him, ‘you are also stupid’ and that was how he slapped her.” It was learnt that the assault resulted in a brawl. After the duo were separated, the air force officer, with his fist, hit the victim’s car windscreen and smashed it. This is the second time a female police officer would be assaulted by an air force officer on the Airport Road. On January 20, a Chief Superintendent of Police, Felicia Victor, was slapped by a yet-to-be identified air force officer attached to the office of the Commandant, Airport Command, Group Captain, Victor Ajiboye. Mrs Roseline Akinsola, 50, on Monday delivered a set of twins after 14 years of childlessness. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Akinsola, who works at the Ekiti State Christian Pilgrims Board, was full of praises to God for answering her prayers. The mother of two girls, who weighed 4.2kg and 2.3kg, advised other couples in need of children not to lose hope. Akinsola, in an interview with NAN, expressed gratitude to God for giving her the children after several years. ” I thank God for the new name he has given to me; before, I was being called “Iya Iyanu’’ without a child, but today, my name has changed to “Mummy Twins.’’ “Many of my colleagues, friends and neighbours mocked and sidelined me, but because I stood firm on the words of God, He answered my prayers. “I thank my husband, who inspite of the troubles and problems from family members, friends, colleagues and neighbours still believe in me and God. “He stood by me like a father in all ways and also believed in God all through the crisis. I also thank my siblings who stood by me in prayers for years. “Let me thank God for all those who stood by me in prayers and encouraged me not to desist from serving God. “These children are indeed signs that God never forgets his own people who diligently seek him and believe in his words, ” she said. A strange birth has occurred at a maternity centre (name withheld) in Ilesa, Osun State. A woman gave birth to a baby, apparently with a medical condition that made it appear as if there were two horns on its head. According to Saturday Tribune, which published photos of the strange baby, the birth of the baby filled the area with tension. “It is true the baby was born,” the proprietress of the maternity centre spoke to the news platform’s reporter who visited the hospital. She only spoke on condition of anonymity. She said that the woman who gave birth to the deformed baby was “about 25 years old and she has been without a child for three years.” “This woman lives in one of the farm settlements on the outskirt of Ilesa. She registered for antenatal service here. So, when she wanted to put to bed, her relatives rushed her here to deliver the baby. “But we were shocked to the marrow when she eventually delivered the baby with two horns on the head after going into labour for some hours. By the time she was delivered of the baby, it was already dead and we had to separate it from the placenta. “I have never seen such a terrible creature in my life. So, we helped to pack the dead baby and the placenta and handed them over to them before they left our premises. It was indeed a fearful development and we were saddened about it. “This is not something we can celebrate. So, I ordered by nurses and other attendants to keep their mouth shut over the incident. But, I am very surprised how you people got to know about it and came here to inquire about it. I do not want anyone to make something unnecessary out of this or create problems for us here,” she stated. When asked about the whereabouts of the woman who was delivered of the baby, the proprietress declined to give details. From the picture, the baby could have suffered from a type of crouzon syndrome, an autosomal dominant genetic disorder known as a branchial arch syndrome associated with gene mutation. It occurs in 1.6 out of every 100,000 people http://www.tribune.com.ng/news/top-stories/item/33088-baby-with-two-horns-born-in-osun

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has responded to an allegation by the All Progressives Congress, APC, that President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to immediately arrest the opposition leader, Bola Tinubu. Olisa Metuh, PDP National Publicity Secretary in a statement on Saturday said the attention of his party had been drawn to the press release signed by APC spokesman, Lai Mohammed. The PDP scribe noted: “We have always insisted that spokespersons of political parties as distinct from support staff should maintain the highest level of decency, civility and morals in the discharge of our duties. “However, it remains rather shocking that 98 percent of Lai Mohammed’s statements bother on the frivolous and poorly produced wild accusations”. “We do not speak for the EFCC but we will not support any action that can trigger unrest in an election we are winning very comfortably. “APC is suffering from near success syndrome trauma and it often leads to paranoia and delusion. Let them refocus on issues and plan on how to rebuild the tatters of their failed experiment,” PDP added. SOURCE http://www.reportnaija.com/2015/03/apc-suffering-near-success-syndrome.html |
CAF has confirmed that Dolphins have been eliminated from the Confederation Cup, after throwing out their appeal against the walk over in Saturday’s scheduled match against Club Africain. Players of the Port Harcourt-based club went on strike over a bonus row, which led to a change in their travel plans. They eventually flew to Tunis via Dubai, but were not able to arrive at the stadium on time for the game. They were asked to remain in the North African country, pending a verdict on their appeal, which CAF has now announced. “The CAF Interclubs Organising Committee issued its decision on Thursday, 19 March 2015 on the basis of the various reports of the match officials and correspondences between the concerned parties,” CAF stated in a statement released on its website. “The Committee had received a petition from Nigerian club, Dolphins, through the Nigeria Football Federation. Dolphins did not show up at Rades Stadium (Tunisia) on Saturday, 14 March 2015 at 3pm local time, for the kick-off of the match against Club Africain of Tunisia, for the 1/16th round first leg of the Orange Confederation Cup. The referee acknowledged forfeiture of Dolphins. “The Committee noted that the Nigeria Football Federation did not observe article 10.2 of Chapter IX of the rules of the competition, which obliges the federation of the visiting team to inform the federation of the host team and CAF of the date of arrival in the capital of the host country at least two weeks prior to the date scheduled for the match. The non-observance of this disposition attracts a fine of $2000. “As it stands, the club only informed CAF on 13 March 2015 of the fact that it missed its flight between Port-Harcourt and Lagos, and could only arrive in Tunis on the day of the match without requesting for a postponement of the encounter. Even though the request was not made, CAF proposed to the Tunisian team to delay the kick-off of the match by 30 minutes for the sake of fair-play. “In view of the above, the Committee did not consider that we were facing a case of force majeure and went on to apply Article 17 of Chapter XI of the regulations, which states: “If for any reason whatsoever, a team withdraws from the competition or does not report for a match-except in case of force majeure accepted by the Organizing Committee – or if it refuses to play or leaves the ground before the regular end of the match without the permission of the referee, it shall be considered loser and shall be eliminated from the competition. “Dolphins are thus eliminated without prejudice to other financial sanctions that could be taken by the Committee”, the statement read. Why are young men being killed (allegedly) by policemen? Read below another story sent to me by a friend of the deceased pictured above "The death of Lukman. J. Mohammad, a young man working with FCMB is another lost to my dear state, his death came in a week after the death of Abduljalal A Dauda, a friend of ours and an active member of the Civil Society Organizations who was the Chairman, National Youth Council Gombe State Chapter. One may want to know why I am trying to lump these issues together! In the first place, each of the ugly development has a peculiarity which arise suspicion. In essence, there are unusual circumstance surrounding the death of the 2 young men. Read the rest of the story after the cut but please be warned, there are graphic photos there.. Abduljalal A Dauda died in a hotel in Bauchi, it was reported that, he was not seen for long hours, which appeared to be quiet unusual of him. After several hours, the management of the Hotel made effort to find out if all was well with him. They broke into his room and discovered his dead body in the bathroom. Suddenly, his family including his friends and the authorities resigned to fate and accepted that he may have easily fallen down and that was his end. Here we are again, the families and the authorities are refusing to look into the death of Lukman J. Muhammad who drove his brother's car in the evening hours within Gombe metropolis and suddenly ran into a security light at the middle of the road. Everyone, including the family concluded it was a mere accident. It was when the body of Lukman was being prepared for funeral that, it was discovered he was shut by two bullets through his back. Such discovery prompted some sort of findings on what could had happen to him. Some individuals that went to conduct preliminary investigation got to the scene and asked people around, an eye-witness confirmed that the Police on patrol shut a driver in a car, the car lost control and rammed into scrutiny light and he saw when they quickly towed the car instead of moving the driver to the hospital. They went to the Police Station to see the vehicle, alas! There were pieces of bullets and 2 holes on the driver's seat (as you can see on the picture and the body of the deceased). Another disturbing aspect of the whole issue is the manner at which the Police hurriedly put up a written statement, claiming that the Driver of the car was overspeeding and lost control, then at the cause of the accident, a metal in the car pierced through his back and killed him. Contrary to the statement of those Police men that puts up such lie, the photos here speak volume of what had happened. GOVERNOR DANKWAMBO MUST SIT UP, OPEN UP PROPER INVESTIGATION OF THIS MATTER, AND THAT OF ABDULJALAL IN BAUCHI. THE POLICE MUST ALSO PRESENT THE KILLER OF LUKMAN BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. I AM CALLING ON ORGANIZATIONS TO KINDLY LOOK INTO THIS TREND AND PRESSURE THE AUTHORITIES TO UNVEIL THE KILLERS OF LUKMAN AND ABDULJALAL.
