Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has stirred widespread conversation on social media after making a bold claim about the causes of marital breakdowns. In a post shared via her Instagram page, the actress asserted that men are responsible for as much as 95 per cent of failed marriages. According to Ogbodo, many unions collapse due to what she described as recurring negative behaviours by men, including neglect, infidelity, lack of accountability, emotional abuse and devaluation of their partners. She further argued that societal norms often enable such conduct, making it easier for men to evade responsibility within marriages while women bear the emotional and psychological consequences. “Many marriages fail because a significant number of men neglect, cheat, devalue, emotionally harm or betray their wives,” the actress stated, adding that the absence of accountability in relationships remains a major issue. The statement, which has since gone viral, has generated mixed reactions online. While some social media users agreed with her perspective, citing personal experiences and cultural realities, others faulted the generalisation, insisting that marriage failures are usually the result of actions from both partners. As expected, the post has reignited conversations around gender roles, responsibility, accountability and emotional health within marriages, with opinions sharply divided across social media platforms. Naija, let’s talk real quick. You know that moment when the sun is blazing, you’re at a party, owambe, or just chilling after work, and you grab a cold can of Coke, Maltina, Fanta, or Sprite straight from the cooler? You pull the tab and drink straight from it without a second thought. Many of us have been doing this for years. But here’s something you need to start doing differently: always clean the top of the can before you drink. Those cans don’t go from the factory straight to your hand in a sterile bubble. They travel long distances, sit in warehouses, get stacked in shops, and sometimes end up in places where pests have easy access. We’re talking cockroaches, rats, and other insects that can crawl over them, leave droppings, or worse. It’s not just dust we’re dealing with. In some storage spots, especially in our humid climate, these cans become little playgrounds for germs. You might not see it, but that rim where your mouth touches could be carrying bacteria that cause stomach upset, running stomach, or even food poisoning. How many times have you or someone you know left an event feeling sick the next day and blamed the food or “maybe the weather”? It could just as easily be from sipping directly from a contaminated can top. The same goes for dirty plates at parties – those ones we sometimes collect without checking properly. Simple Steps to Protect Yourself It doesn’t have to be complicated: - Use water or wipes: Before opening, rinse the top under clean running water or wipe it thoroughly with a clean napkin, tissue, or disinfectant wipe. - Pour it out: The safest option is to pour the drink into a clean cup or glass. That way, you avoid the lid completely. - At events: Be extra careful. Those coolers at parties and street corners see a lot of handling. If soap and water are available, give it a proper wash. This small habit takes just a few seconds but can save you days of discomfort and unnecessary hospital visits. We’re not saying canned drinks are bad – far from it. They’re convenient and refreshing, especially in this Naija heat. But like we wash fruits and vegetables before eating, we should treat our drink cans with the same respect. Next time you buy that chilled can, pause for a moment, clean the top, and drink with peace of mind. Share this with your friends and family too – because good hygiene is something we all need to spread in 2026 and beyond. Stay safe, stay refreshed, and make better choices, one can at a time. What do you think? Do you already clean your cans, or is this news to you? Drop your thoughts in the comments. SOURCE: https://www.reportnaija.ng/2026/02/hygiene-alert-always-wipe-top-of-your.html

Read what she wrote below... So 3 days ago as I was scrolling through Facebook, i came across the WHEN FREEDOM FALLS..... post made by my friend Chinedu Hardy Nwadike about one of the projects done by a former Governor "Freedom Falls" signage being in a bad state, so I decided to do my bit which is repainting and beautification of the FREEDOM FALLS & I.I.C.C Signage at Warehouse Junction in the heart of Owerri capital of Imo State, to support and encourage the Government while we hopefully wait on them to make our State better for us all. Between Friday and Saturday 21st -22nd of August, 2020, I contracted and paid my childhood friend who is a painter to help me make this idea become a reality. Thank you so much Slim-sweet John I had to learn how to paint I think I will make a good painter A massive thanks to my wonderful Brothers Kelly Smart Ken Simeon and Okafor Henry Ikenna who assisted me in painting and to Hardy and Treasured Mercy thank you all for making this thought a reality. The whole inspiration and idea behind this project is to see my State look as beautiful as it should be, BUT most importantly to awaken the consciousness of not just the Youths in Imo State but all over the world and the People generally to step out of the entitlement mentality of what the Government should do for us and take a bold step to proffer solution to the problems around us which will ultimately go a long way in creating a driving force on our Leaders to do things aright even the littlest thing that seems not to matter. Below are pictures of Before, During and After the repainting Project. I dedicate this project to God who blessed me with this insight and the speed to get into work almost immediately. I hope my Motherland (Ala Imo) likes and accepts this little input of Mine, I pray she blesses and prospers our People and our Land for our today's and tomorrow's generations. Long Live! https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/5d8de10874a3f.jpg The All Progressives Congress (APC) governors under the auspices, Progressive Governors Forum, have denied media reports that there is a cold war between President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. The governors described the reports of a feud between President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo as ''mere rumour and another scheme of opposition mischief makers''. Speaking during the inauguration of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) Steering Committee on Media and Communication yesterday September 26th, Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is also the chairman of the committee, said the alleged face-off in the Presidency was just ‘gossip’. Speaking through his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu explained that there is no crack in this aministration. “There is no crack. It is in the realm of gossips. By the time they said that, the Vice Presieent went to Zimbabwe to represent this country. It was the prerogative of the president but he nominated him. Like I said earlier, it is in the realm of gossips because only on Wednesday, the Vice President presided over the Federal Executive Committee (FEC) meeting which is the highest decision making body in the country. So, we don’t listen to rumours. We deal with facts and the fact is that they are working together. So, it is all rumour and don’t take it that serious,” he said SOURCE https://www.reportnaija.ng/2019/09/reports-of-cold-war-between-buhari.html cc lalasticlala |

Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel wanted Everton playmaker, Alex Iwobi dropped from the starting line-up during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nationsand clashed wit Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr during the tournament, it has been revealed. News outlets were awash with reports that Former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi had fallen out with Gernot Rohr before the tournament began, leading many to believe the Super Eagles won't go far in the African tournament, but Rohr has now shed light on what really went wrong. Mikel Obi was angry with Gernot Rohr for giving his position to Alex Iwobi and wanted him removed from stating line-up - BBC Reporter reveals According to top BBC World Football reporter and NFF member, Osasu Obayiuwana, who had an exclusive chat with Gernot Rohr, Mikel had issues with Alex Iwobi taking his role wondering why he didn't start games for Super Eagles despite his good form for Middlesbrough in the just concluded Championship season, and nearly caused issues at camp. ''After Mikel John Obi's top-grade performance with Middlesborough in the championship, it was thought that he would exhibit the same form during the AFCON2019 . But despite engaging a personal trainer after the season, Mikel’s physical conditioning dropped...' Rohr told Obayiuwana. This was quite evident in Asaba, during the one-week I spent with the Super Eagles, before they left for Egypt. But he was always going to be a part of the squad because Gernot sees him as integral to it, even when he’s not 100% fit. The drop in Mikel John Obi's physical conditioning - as seen from the group AFCON2019 games he played - forced Rohr and the staff to take the decision that he wouldn’t have more than a bit-part role during the tournament. And Mikel John Obi didn’t help himself when he complained about Alex Iwobi in Egypt. He felt the Everton player was cramping his playing space and style, and wanted him dropped. That was something Rohr was never going to accept, which made his selection duties much easier. With this in mind, Mikel John Obi was slightly unsettled and when the issues of unpaid players bonuses came up, its easy to know where his mind was - even if justifiably so. The management of his mood was a tournament issue for the technical staff. ''He served the Super Eagles very well, for many years. It was very important that he finished his career with Nigeria in a good way. I have nothing for respect for him and how we worked together.'' But despite all of this Gernot Rohr still had words of praise for Mikel, saying it's normal for issues to come up between players and coaches. ''Yes, there were some difficult moments with Mikel during the tournament.' Rohr said to Obiayuwana. ''But it’s normal for players and coaches to have these things. That’s why I’m the manager. I have to manage.'' Mikel, Nigeria's most decorated footballer of all time, announced his retirement from international football following Nigeria's third-place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations this summer. https://www.reportnaija.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Buhari-1-2.jpg Former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari for deeply dividing the country. Odinkalu said since Buhari assumed power, he had not achieved anything but was playing politics of divide and rule. The elder statesman said President Buhari’s actions and inactions had fuelled divisiveness, prejudices and subversion of the basic precepts of coexistence. He told The Sun, “The country is deeply divided as it is now and I think the reasons are due partly to the actions and inactions of President Buhari. I am not the oldest Nigerian alive but in my limited lifetime I have never seen Nigeria this deeply divided and I think many of the issues have to do with this incumbent President.” He also noted that the president had failed to deliver on the cardinal promises he made in 2015, noting that he was incapable of changing anything. “There were certain promises that Buhari made to Nigerians when he was campaigning that made him appear credible. One of them is that he is going to fight corruption. The fight against corruption by the Buhari government has been very partisan; and has failed to carry people along. “There are whole lots of graft around him that he hasn’t addressed, so he is leading a party with most of its leadership coming from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” he said source https://www.reportnaija.ng/2018/04/14/buhari-has-divided-nigeria-odinkalu-former-human-rights-commission-boss/ cc lalasticlala |
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has debunked allegations of a rift between himself and the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi saying Yoruba traditional rulers are united and that unity will continue to reign. The monarch said this on Thursday while presiding over the Osun State Traditional Rulers Council held at his palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State. The meeting had 75 Yoruba traditional rulers in attendance. “What we have inherited from our forefathers must stay and unity will continue to reign in Yorubaland. “We call this meeting to ensure that our cultural heritage is intact. Nothing can take away our heritage from us. I am here with my brother king (Oluwo of Iwo). We know him as Oluwo of Iwo; we don’t want to listen to rumours. “South Western Nigeria is a mirror for Nigeria. We have a strong heritage, culture and tradition. Religion is not the basis of our coexistence in South Western Nigeria,” Ooni said. Ooni, while addressing the traditional rulers emphasised the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence among traditional rulers and the importance of coordinating themselves in royal manners. Also at the meeting, the Oluwo noted that the Ooni is the father of all Obas, and stressed that Ife remains the source of all kings. source https://www.reportnaija.ng/2018/04/13/yoruba-traditional-rulers-are-united-ooni/ cc lalasticlala

https://www.reportnaija.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/stella-oduah.jpg At the fourth anniversary of the abduction of Chibok schoolgirls, the senator representing Anambra North, Stella Oduah has pointed out that what Boko Haram terrorists understand which Nigerians do not is the power of educated girls. Speaking also against the backdrop of the kidnap and release of some of the Dapchi schoolgirls, the former Aviation minister lamented that while the Nigerian forces are winning the war on ground, the terrorists appear to be prevailing in terms of ideology. Recalling that the terrorists upon releasing their victims told anxious parents: “Don’t ever put your daughters in school again”, the lawmaker pointed out that the terrorists are clearly threatened by the power of educated girls and is out to destroy them. She stated this in an opinion piece entitled: ‘Boko Haram understands what most of us don’t. The power of educated girls’ sent to DAILY POST on Friday, which reads in full… Four years have passed since 14th April 2014 when 276 girls were abducted in a girl’s secondary school in Chibok, Borno state in the northeast of Nigeria by the Boko Haram Terrorist group. The outpouring of emotions was unlike anything I have experienced in my lifetime. Fast forward to 19th February 2018, about 110 schoolgirls were abducted in the Government Girls Science Technical College in Dapchi, a small community in Yobe state, by a faction of the terrorist group. Most of the girls secured their freedom after a series of back-channel negotiations between the sect and the Nigerian government. While image-makers of the President Muhammadu Buhari led government cheered, and declared victory, I was filled with mixed feelings. I was delighted in part as mother to see the girls reunited with their parents, but saddened on the other as a Nigerian catholic christian as reports got in that Leah Sharibu, one of the abducted girls remained a captive due to her defiance to the instruction by the terrorists that she renounce her faith. As as a public official, I am afraid to say that while we continue to make progress on the territorial front, Boko Haram appears to be winning on their own ideological turf. The girls were returned but not without a warning: “Don’t ever put your daughters in school again.” A news magazine interview with some parents and students of the school in Dapchi confirmed my fears. One of the girls interviewed, Rakiya Adamu, vowed never to return to school. She was not among one of the abducted school kids. Abdullahi Kawi, a father of one of the girls wants his daughter to go back to school but under conditions that security must be provided in the schools. Many expert observers of the Dapchi abduction find parallels with the tragedy that befell the Chibok schoolgirls about four years ago. Boko Haram is clearly threatened by the power of educated girls and seeks to destroy them. But the biggest difference this time, is that the sect has stealthily evolved from the dark, evil terrorist group that they really are, into a faux reasonable group with some grievances. They received heroes welcome as they returned these girls to the community while government officials were stoned during an earlier assessment visit. Nigeria’s President, Mr. Buhari appears to have fallen for this charm offensive by the group. He offered amnesty — a move that I am totally opposed to — and which I believe, resonates with most people in my country and most especially my constituency. Boko Haram is more of an ideological group that is opposed to education and civilisation than an expansionist group seeking to control territory. Winning for them would mean that our women and girls do not receive education. Winning for them would mean that our girls get married and pregnant early. Implications and Prospects Nigeria has about 10.5 million out-of-school children, making our country the world’s worst afflicted with 60% of these being girls. The larger fraction is concentrated in the Northeast of Nigeria where the Boko Haram devastation has led to the destruction and shutdown of educational facilities. The situation is worse than imagined. We have no other choice — our schools must be secure or we would see more people stay out of schools even where they are available. But the reality is that the current capabilities of the Nigerian security apparatus will not do. The Nigerian Police Force is acutely understaffed while the military has maintained that the same circumstances would make it almost impossible for it to secure all the schools in the region. The $100m safe schools initiative championed by former British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown in partnership with the Nigerian government under the administration of my boss, the former President Goodluck Jonathan seems to have stalled under this current administration. Donors including the Nigerian government contributed about $20m towards this project but the status is now difficult to track. This is why I am presently consulting with my colleagues at the Nigerian Senate to proffer a legislative solution to the issue of school safety. A number of proposals that I am considering include the creation of a Safe Schools Guard. This would not be another agency of government. The proposal would seek to grant legal backing for security agencies to provide some form of military training to community vigilantes who would get commissioned into the guard. This could help to provide the much needed security for our schools without putting a drain on public expenditure. The return on investment on girl child education is immense. Once women are educated, they are more economically empowered to invest in their families and dislodge poverty, which has become the biggest lever for Boko Haram recruitment in the region. A global study showed that educating girls will reduce child marriage by about 64% in sub-Saharan Africa. This is why the government of Nigeria and her international partners must by all means ensure that every available resource is deployed to make sure our girls can be safe in schools. Even Boko Haram understands the power of an uneducated female child. https://www.reportnaija.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/DamLPX7X4AA6i_W.jpg Shehu Sani, the senator representing Kaduna central in the national assembly, says there is a plan to frame him for murder by his political opponents in the state. TheCable has seen a copy of a letter addressed to him by Kaduna commissioner of police inviting him for questioning over “criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide”. The case was transferred to the police by one division of the Nigerian army in Kaduna. Also sent to the police by the army is an audio CD in which Shehu’s name was mentioned by the principal suspect, Austin Iwar, the police commissioner, said. He was asked to report to the office of the commissioner of police in Kaduna on April 30, 2018 at 10am. The letter, with ref. no. CR: 2000/KDS/VOL 5H/72, was routed through the clerk of the national assembly, while the senate president was also copied. When contacted by TheCable, Sani pointed accusing fingers at the Kaduna government with which he has been having a running battle. “They want to frame me the same way they frame Senator Dino Melaye in Kogi on allegation of arming thugs,” he said. Sani said he had not seen the letter. Samuel Aruwan, spokesman of Nasir, el-Rufai, governor of the state, was not available for comment as he neither answered his calls nor replied the text message sent. Mukhtar Aliyu, spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, did not also respond to calls and text message. source https://www.reportnaija.ng/2018/04/12/shehu-sani-alleges-plot-to-frame-him-for-murder/ cc lalasticlala |
https://www.reportnaija.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Kayode-Fayemi-Minister-of-Mines-and-Steel-Development.jpg The immediate past governor of Ekiti state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has stated that he is throwing his hat into the ring for the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti state because “public office is too serious to be left to charlatans”. He stated this in a letter personally signed by him and addressed to the national and state leadership of the All Progressives Party, APC, elders of the party, prominent citizens and traditional rulers in the state, notifying them of his intention to run for the state’s governorship position. Some prominent names to which the letters were addressed include: national chairman of APC, Chief John Oyegun, National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC former Interim national chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, all traditional rulers in Ekiti state, members of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, former and serving governors elected on APC platform, as well as prominent sons and daughters of Ekiti. Recall that Fayemi, who is presently the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, had on April 2 hinted on his plan to run for the party’s ticket during the quarterly meeting of the Ekiti APC leaders at his Isan Ekiti country home. A statement issued on Thursday by the minister’s media aide, Yinka Oyebode, reads in part, “Public office is too serious to be left to charlatans and when men and women of good conscience that are committed to the ideals of social justice and the common good turn away from politics, we pave way for unprincipled opportunists to take power. “My convictions about how much more is possible in Ekiti stem not from any sense of entitlement but from a sense of service, of obligation and from my belief that posterity has positioned us for such a time as this. “There is much that we have to repair and redress in Ekiti before we can go forward,” Fayemi said. source https://www.reportnaija.ng/2018/04/12/im-in-ekiti-guber-race-to-chase-out-charlatans-fayemi-writes-tinubu-oyegun-others/ cc lalasticlala |

The committee, investigating the alleged violation of public trust at the agency, summoned the vice-president during its sitting on Thursday. The directors are said to have been suspended by the agency’s governing council — chaired by Osinbajo — without due process. Also summoned are Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) — investigating the directors and Oyo-Ita, head of civil service. https://www.reportnaija.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/DalW_oeWAAAaYXW.jpg No doubt that the death of the only child of ace actress, Eucharia Anunobi took a toll on her but despite all she has been through, she still wears a smile and hopes to find love again. In a chat with Saturday Beats, the actress while trying to hold back tears explained how she has been coping without her son who she always referred to as her best friend. She said, “I do not know how I have been coping but I wake up and tell God that I know he has been keeping me. If I want to begin to think about how I have been holding up, I don’t think I would be able to say anything. God has said that we should not walk by sight but by faith so I am not looking at the event that surrounds me or had surrounded me. If I begin to look at them or think about them, like Peter in the Bible, I would begin to sink as I walk on water. So I do not want to think about the events around me, I just know that God is the author of everything and he is the one that I look up to. I know that he knows all about the pain I am going through.” She told Saturday Beats that when her son died, for a split second, her faith was shaken but God spoke to her in the midst of her sadness. “If I say that it was not the plan of the devil to shake my faith, then I would be lying. I know that being a healing minister and an apostle, it was all a plan of the devil to test me. I would say for a split second while I held my son who died in my hands, I asked, ‘where is God?’ at that moment but in less than two seconds, he answered me and said that in the midst of the storm, I am here, don’t worry. I always tell people that the amount of God that you swallow before the day of adversity is what keeps you during the adversity because surely the adversity would come. I guess if people say I am standing strong, I give God the glory.” Despite all she has been through, the actress said that she believes there is always light at the end of the tunnel as she says she is still open to love. “To keep myself happy I read the work of God. I pray and I am also schooling. I am involved in a lot of work, I am very busy. I am open to love but at the right time. God who is the author and finisher of my faith has great plans for me. Why not? I am open to love. There is no one who has been created and would say that they do not want a partner, so why not? I pray for a partner and I know my partner would come at God’s appointed time. Why not, I am open. I love reading and cooking; I also love cleaning and washing. I love driving as well despite the Lagos traffic. I love taking care of people and giving out things,” Anunobi said. When asked how she would feel if she gets pregnant again, she laughed and simply said, “You are going too far with your questions but if my partner comes and I get pregnant again, we would give glory to God.” source https://www.reportnaija.ng/2018/04/12/im-still-open-to-love-but-at-gods-time-eucharia-anunobi-says/
