Hon. Maria Ude Nwachi, a member representing Afikpo North -East constituency has been given a 2 week suspension from being a member in Ebonyi state house of Assembly for abusing and disgracing the honourable house by turning herself to ordinary photographer.

This came after series of warning and possible corrections from the honourable house. The leader of the house, Hon. Joseph Nwobashi moved the motion which was seconded by Hon Mrs Okpo Franca. Hon. Mrs Okpo advised her to leave the system and possibly go and work on her disgusting attitude that is bringing down the respect and honor given to the house.

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 19 suspected kidnappers in various locations in the state. Three suspects were arrested after a well coordinated operation in Yuga forest, a notorious hideout for kidnappers in Toro LGA. One suspect in Jimi village of Darazo LGA, 1 suspect in Tama District of Toro LGA, 2 suspects in Ningi LGA, 3 suspects in Kundum of Bauchi LGA, 3 in Giwa hamlet of Toro, 3 suspects in Ganjuwa LGA, 1 suspect in Tashan Durumi in Toro LGA and 2 suspects from Alkaleri LGA of Bauchi State respectively.

The command further arrested a suspected informer and negotiator of the kidnappers in Gilliri Village of Bauchi LGA. Meanwhile, Forty Eight hostages were rescued in good condition of health. And efforts are being intensified to apprehend fleeing suspects.
Exhibits recovered include eight AK 47 Rifles, one AK 49 Rifle, one G3 Rifle, two Automatic Pump Action, one double barrel gun . one Single Barrel gun, one Sub Machine gun, one Locally made Pistol, six Machetes. eleven Magazines, forty Nine (49) Cartridges,nineteen (19) ammunition of LAR rifle, three Hundred and Thirty (330) assorted Ammunition. Sum of Three hundred and Eighty Eight Thousand One Hundred and Ninety Naira (#388,190.00)

The visibly stunned first lady, who is also a medical doctor, revealed that she has only heard and read about how quintuplets have been delivered but has never witnessed it before. Dr. Linda in her remarks, characteristically waxed religious saying “five is a divine number for Jesus, Grace, Mercy. 9th January is the number of completion on the first month of the year. This event is a sign from God that this is our year of abundance. On the first day of the year, it was twins, today it’s quintuplets, am over joyed.” she exclaimed.

She donated One million naira to the family of the quintuplets with an incubator for the management of the new babies. She also donated additional five hundred thousand naira to the medical team that delivered the babies as well as an undisclosed amount to a set of twins in the ward who were delivered on January 1.

A US based Liberian couple met their untimely deaths after they were poisoned during their Christmas holiday in Liberia.
According to Facebook user,Aremo Oriola, the couple had been sending money to the man's brother to help build houses. When they came home for the holidays, the brother cooked food and sent to them.They were found dead the next morning.

Photos has emerged online showing the crazy moment a cow ran into a road in Abia State and attacked a couple driving on high speed.

It was gathered that the cow rushed to the road ‘from nowhere’ and jumped on the windscreen of the Toyota Camry car marked FF 923 ABJ, around 7-UP area in the Aba area of the state.

The windscreen was destroyed but reports say the couple was rescued unharmed.

A police officer and 10 Shi'ite members have been confirmed dead in a clash between the security agents and the Islamic group members in Kano state earlier today. The Shi'ite members staged a religious march in the state this morning. To stop their procession, the police teargassed the group. The situation became chaotic as the group members retaliated and attacked the police.

Confirming the number of casualties, the state's commissioner of police, Rabiu Yusuf, said;

"At about 8am on Monday, thousands of Shi'ites denied other motorists and other road users free access to Kano-Kaduna expressway between Kwanar Dawaki and Tamburawa village in Dawaki Kudi local government area. The Shi'ites also attacked innocent citizens, damaged police and personal property thereby causing mayhem which led to general disturbance of public peace in the state. We lost a officer while another sustained injury. Eight Shi'ite members were confirmed dead"he said...

Confirmed reports reaching our news desks says Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma (AAU) Shut Down till further notice due to the ongoing protest by students of the institution because of hike in fee.

today's protest was bloody a student was shot on the leg.

A press statement signed by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Edward Aihevbe, said

the decision to close the institution indefinitely was reached after the University’ Senate reviewed the students’ protest.
He said the university’s Senate viewed the protest as uncalled for and unnecessary as management was already looking into their grievances. The students barricaded the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi highway.
He denied social media report that two students were shot by security agents.
He said the students were given until 4pm to vacate the institution. “No student was shot. They barricaded the highway and soldiers escorting an an Army vehicle that was passing the road had to shoot into the air to scare the students away.”

A parcel suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) has been discovered under the Jabi Bridge near Shoprite Shopping Mall in Abuja.

Nigerians living in the US under the banner of the Movement of the People of Nigeria on Monday held a protest against the non-prosecution of IMN Leader, Mr Ibraheem El-Zakyzaky at the United Nations Building and Nigeria House in New York City.

Addressing the protest, Cosmas Collins, the US Cordinator of the group said the Nigerian government is making a mistake by not prosecuting members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) for their acts of violence against the state and against citizens of Nigeria.

He said it is important the world is able to reassure the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that they have the world's support for nipping the growing terror of IMN in the bud.

According to him, a clear message must be sent to the government that the firmness with which it deals with the IMN threat is a matter global interest as any fallout from delay in dealing with the threat posed by the group will affect the whole world.

The result of several investigations that followed the clash between the IMN members and army last December all want the prosecution of the IMN leader, Mr Ibraheem El-Zakyzaky and all those that supported him in that insurrection.

He said, "We are therefore here to demand that the federal government and the Kaduna state government must do what the reports of NHCR and the Commission of Inquiry have recommended. Even without the prompting of the two reports the government should have done the needful by prosecuting everyone that precipitated that mayhem.

"Failure to prosecute these people, including El-Zakyzaky is making other groups think of coming out because it is now believed that it is fashionable to take on the state without consequences.

"The government must not also omit to consider bringing charges of subversion against members of the group for inviting Iranian intervention in Nigeria's internal affairs.

Wife of the Abia State givernor, Nkechi Ikpeazu today visited an 11 year old girl Blessing (real name withheld) a native of Okaiuga Nkwoegwu in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State, who was sexually molested by two men recently. The victim and her friend were molested by two men who lured them into a building in the community.



The family of the girl had cried out for justice after the state police allegedly failed to arrest their molesters. The wife of the governor during her visit to the family of the molested girl, said the state governor Okezie Ikpeazu had ordered a thorough investigation into the matter and also directed a manhunt of the two suspected culprits and their collaborators.

The victim has been taken to the state-owned Specialist Hospital where she is currently receiving treatment for her injuries at the expense of government. Mrs Ikpeazu during her visit, announced that the Governor had directed the construction of a new home for the family of the abused girl while she had been granted a full scholarship up to University level.

Speaking to newsmen, Mrs Ikpeazu said

“We are doing our best to help her overcome this traumatic period quickly. We will rehabilitate her and give her a renewed sense of life. A new house is to be built for her family while we are also setting up a new business for her mother who is just a petty trader to help her sustain the family. Her father is out of work. You can see the place they live. It is sad. It is painful that people, adults who should care for and protect young ones now become predators and prey on such little children. We will not tolerate that. The security agencies will fish out the culprits and bring them to book.”
