Congratulations Spectro!!! God indeed makes everything beautiful in his time. Your initial refusal was on the same day I got my approval. I am so glad you didn't let that deter you, instead you got fired up and see, you are just in time to make fall session if you want!!! So sorry you had to go through that sad situation and a very big Congratulations that you came out of it victorious!!!
Canada will favour you!!

Spectro:
Thanks a lot for this.

I was refused June 9. I wanted to reapply June 10, but I hadn't paid tuition.

So I went to Stanbic bank on June 10 to open a current account. I had to wait for a week before getting the new account. And so, on June 17, I filled in Form A for tuition payment. It took two weeks to process tuition payment... I don't know why.

I still waited for my university to send receipt, so that was like another four days or so. I got debited on Friday, and had to wait till Tuesday to get my CIBC receipt. And then I got payment receipt from the University a day after.

On July 4, I vetted all documents, LOE... They were all 3.95+mb for each section. July 6, I submitted my application.

Reasons for my first refusal
1. Purpose of visit
2. Home tie

I wrote two separate LOEs to tackle both; one for each concern. Honestly, one LOE should suffice, but I was determined to make this my last application. I decided to give it my best.

Purpose of visit was a wrong judgment by the VOs. So I explained in 4 pages why there must have been a misunderstanding. I did serious explanation, breaking things down.

But most importantly, I was honest and revealed my vulnerable side. Since I knew I wasn't doing anything wrong, I decided to be myself. My intentions were real, not deceitful, and my goals were clearly stated.

Hometies had about 6 pages explanation. I was very particular about this one. I just had to write it to the best of my ability. Again, Honesty worked for me. I revealed some very personal reasons I would have to come back home. And then, I made mention of several assets.

One thing with home tie is, there are four types, I believe...

Hometie to one's spouse, children, or parents... Explanation must be exhaustive.
Hometie to one's land, business, houses
Hometie to community responsibilities, roles... Sufficient proof must be provided
Hometie to place of work... Employer gives you a study leave.

I noticed one thing.

SOP (or LOE) is very very very important.

Whatever you state in your LOE/SOP, attach documents to prove them.

This is why each section of my application space was approximately 4mb.

Thanks a lot once again

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am so happy for you. I have been on the look out for your testimony...can't believe I would have missed it because I was MIA. Canada will favour you!!!

Teenie19:
Dear Nairaland family,

It has finally dropped ooooo! Glory be to God Almighty!!!!

Sister's application
AOR: Feb 11 2021
Program: Practical nursing May 2021 (Sheridan college)- clearly can't go for May 2021 anymore due to delay, will go for Jan 2022 session!
Upfront medical : April 28, 2021 ( we said let's do medical to see if it will speed things up, lol jokes)
Medical passed: June 14, 2021 (just see how long it took them to update medical!)
Eligibility started: July 23, 2021
PPR and correspondence letter: this morning July 27th @ 4:34am!

What a wait! Basically this application took 5 months and 16 days. I remember I considered withdrawing the application at some point, but you all encouraged me to hold on! During this waiting period, 3 gcms notes were ordered and the fourth one has been ordered as well. All the gcms notes received didn't have much info as eligibility was blank. Each time I got the gcms notes, I was always disappointed that eligibility was blank. Now that I think of it, I guess it's not a bad thing...

I just want to use this medium to thank everyone for their support through out this journey! This is a wonderful platform and we all draw strength and hope from one another! One thing that helped me during the long wait was seeing other people's approval postings. I was always encouraged by those success stories. I remember telling myself that my testimony was near when DD097 and demure got approved as we all applied around the same time and faced this delay..

In short, this is a wonderful platform and I hope more people get to know about the wonderful support we have here! Thanks to all the gurus and everyone that tries to assist others with their questions! If you have any questions for me , please feel free to ask here so others can learn from it ! I'm rooting for all my co- February applicants and any one with a delayed application and of course everyone on here , that you will all get a favourable response soon in Jesus name!

Cheers to more success stories ! grin

I submitted the documents at DHL office, Lekki at close of work on Thursday 10th June, On 11th which was a Friday I got a notification that it had been received in VFS Abuja. Unfortunately, Monday was a public holiday to celebrate June 12th.
I got the passport delivered to my address on Monday, 21st June 2021. In all, it took 10 days or better still 5 working days.

Iphiegrace:
This is so helpful, thank you so much.

Please how did it take to be returned?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 19 by Residentourist: 6:29am On Jul 18, 2021
So sorry for the delayed response.
What I did in my case, since I couldn't find the slip too after 5 years was to pay the transmission fee and send my package to Abuja (my biometrics was done in Lagos) It was a win-win situation because a lot of people claimed Abuja was faster in processing the visa (which turned out to be true) and also saved me the hassle of not having the slip and receipt.

Items submitted
# My passport
# The receipt of payment of the transmission fee
# Correspondence letter from IRCC requesting your passport
# Consent form

Iphiegrace:
Biometrics done 7 years ago...

I don’t have the slip...

Has anyone stamped passport without the sliphuh

This is my third time asking, please help me ask your friends/relatives that have stamped theirs...
Thanks

@Akannitommy, thank you so much for taking time out to answer my inquiry.
I'd put the suggestions into consideration when making a decision.
God bless you.

Akannitommy:
Hi @residenttourist,

Congrats on your approval.

If your first kid is above 4 years old, she/he will need to apply for study visa, (if) I assume the kid holds a Nigerian passport.

I can't comment much on the US citizens although I have one too but my school's immigration advisor (a lawyer) advised that I apply for a study visa for her too which I did and currently awaiting the outcome. I remember she said the kid cannot attend school in Canada unless she has a study permit and I didn't want to risk it. I think the main concern may be whether the kid can travel to Canada at this time with a US passport since there are still travel restrictions between both countries. Moreso, with a US passport, you can only claim short visit purpose that will be classified as non-essential travel. These are just my thoughts but I suggest you let more experienced folks chip in, especially those with direct and very recent experiences.

My comment on your hubby's prospect is similar to the logic above in respect of your other kids. Your hubby is eligible for Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP). Clearly, you are aware of this but do not think it is a wise decision to pursue that route now and I understand where you may be coming from. So here is my two cent. Your hubby can apply for a visitor visa but the chances of success is very low for two reasons. One, it is not the logical visa category the VO expects the spouse of an international student to apply for. So you will need a very tidy application to succeed on this factor. Two, visitors are not essential travellers to Canada right now and so most visitors visa will be stepped down to create room for priority applications - two of which may be the students and spousal open work categories.

Finally, depending on what route(s) you decide to take, it is advisable that you arrive in Canada before you commence their visa application process. This is because there are important supporting documents that you will not be able to access until you land in Canada e.g. study permit issued at the port of entry. To further improve their chances of success, it is often suggested [but not required] that you commence studies and if possible complete at least a semester so you can show progress through your academic transcripts.

Wishing you and your family the very best in whatever decision you take.

Good morning people!!!

I recently received a positive response on my student visa application. Now I want my husband and first child to apply for Canadian visa (my other 2 kids are US citizens and do not require a visa) the challenge is most people here are applying for work permit for their spouse but what I actually want is a visitors visa because my husband cannot afford to quit his job anytime soon grin

I'd appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction of what steps to take. Ie should he apply on his own (considering that he is sponsoring me) or should I make the application under my gckey?

Please has anyone been in this situation and how did you tackle it or are you tackling it?

Thank you.

I think it is worth mentioning the details of your refusal, not necessarily dwell on it too much but by all means mention the details ie class of visa applied for and why it was not approved. My 2nd application was denied primarily because of that. I had ticked the box but decided to concentrate mainly on my earlier denied Canadian study visa. The VO claimed I wasn't entirety truthful in my application. When I reapplied, I simply apologised for the omission and said since a column wasn't expressly created to provide details of the US visa rejection I felt it wasn't of much consequence to my application and decided to focus more on the Canadian one which was directly linked.

Mcilfero:
Hello Gurus in the house. If one has previously been denied a U.S visa and has ticked that he was previously denied visa, should one dwell ot while applying for Canada visa. What aspect should I include and how can I deeply on it in my application?

Good morning @lekiboboe,
Please I did my biometrics in 2016 here in Lagos and unfortunately I can't find the receipt issued then to me. I read somewhere that the biometrics receipt is one of the documents to be submitted with the passport. Is this true? If it is, should I just pay the transmission fee (ie does that replace it?) Kindly advise me on the right action to take.
Thank you.

Please I still have some enquiries, I was able to download the VAC consent letter from the vfs website. However, I want to verify if

1. Do I need to include the receipt gotten from my biometrics payment to the documents being sent to visit for visa issuance?

2. If 1 above is yes, then what is my fate as I did biometrics in 2016 and don't have an idea where the receipt could be.

3. If I am expected to pay into the Sterling bank account. Do I visit the bank branch and fill out a regular deposit slip or is there a special procedure?

Please I would appreciate a response.
Thank you.

LONG POST ALERT!!!

As is often reiterated in this platform, no two applications is the same.
A BIG THANK YOU to all those who keep providing valuable information and offering guidance here. God bless and keep you.

Timeline:
1st application 2016
Applied for PGD in HRM to Georgian College
Refused on basis of;
# Home ties (I applied for visitors visa for my husband and first child, my other two are US citizens)
# Finanicial bla bla bla (VO wasn't convinced the course was a reasonable expense, no career progression and he claimed there was a bulk cash lodgement into the account, which unfortunately wasn't true)

2nd application 2020
Applied for MHRM in University of Regina
Refused primarily because I wasn't "totally truthful" in my application. I had clicked yes on the previous refusal of visas but unfortunately it was only the details of my previous study permit application I dwelt on. Other excuses about section R216 ie not leaving Canada were mentioned in the rejection but my GCMS highlighted that the VO's main concern was the non-declaration of the US visa refusal.

3rd Application -7th March, 2021
NSE request - 12th March, 2021
NSE submission- 3rd April, 2021
L,R,W,S were 9,9,7.5,7.5 respectively (screenshot was uploaded since hard copy hadn't been received)
11th April,2021 hard copy was scanned and sent via webform
14th April, 2021 NSE documents were acknowledged. Eligibility review commenced.

June 4th, 2021 acknowledgement email of mail sent.
June 9th, 2021 correspondence letter and original passport request

DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED
All relevant IMM forms
Admission letter

PROOF OF FUNDS
Receipt of 20k CAD paid to the school
Sponsor is my husband
I submitted;
* his employment letter,
*promotion letters
* payslips and a letter of introduction from his office.
*Plus his bank statements and a reference letter from his bank which stated that I am a signatory to his accounts.
* Pension accounts statements
* Various investments/shares documents
* Title documents of properties owned (3 in total no valuation done, I only gave an estimated value of the properties) Also included were pictures of the properties.

# For myself, I only submitted my employment letter, confirmation of employment and introduction letter from my employer.
I stated in my SOP that since I will not be earning an income through the duration of my studies I don't feel the need to submit my own bank details so it doesn't divert the attention ,(not stated in those exact words o)

International passports of myself, my husband and 3 kids. They serve as home ties.

I hope I haven't left anything out.

I graduated with a 2.2 in accounting and finance but got the MHRM offer through the experience route which is for people who have worked in HR for about 7years and above. I had to write a convincing letter to the graduate school and was given the grwenlight to go ahead with my application

I am 37 going on 38 in August but that didn't deter me. grin
