Cogito is of course fallacious - the “I” at the beginning already assumes that “I” exists which had not yet been proven, and which the statement purports to be out to prove. You can’t prove that something exists by first already concluding it exists - that’s what’s wrong with cogito.

And the fact is that it is: since we are not sure of the existence of Renee the statement can’t start with “I”. It should say: “There is thinking, therefore I am”. Which doesn’t make sense.

Ok. Just prove to me how existence of thinking proves existence of Renee Decartes (or that Renee causes the existence of thinking - which of course implies that thinking would disappear if Renee disappeared - which somehow it hasn’t!)

Just like those that criticized his work, Rene started his philosophy by criticizing the Scolastics method who b opines that all knowledge comes from sensation. That, to Descartes, are subject to error and can be doubted.
In all these, he didn't doubt the activities of his mind and as such, gave most relevance to it because to him, that was one thing he couldn't doubt - that he was thinking all along.
This led him to that famous statement, 'COGITO ERGO SUM' (I think, therefore I am) .
Think of this, All Descartes can know, on the level of foundational belief, is that he exists as a mind. He can't know that he has a body or that anything other than his mind exists. This position is known as solipsism. Solipsism says that the only thing you can know for sure is that you exist as a mind.

What u *copied* is true and false. False in the sense that a philosopher starts where his predecessor stopped. I don't think you know that. And you have to start philosophizing by attacking and criticizing those who have philosophised earlier.
A conclusion is said to be valid insofar it can be inferred. From the first and second premisses. Descartes did that. That they criticized his work does not remove the validity of his claims.
