Politics › 30 Killed In Two Suicide Bombings In Cameroon by resty4(op): 10:16pm On Sep 03, 2015
About 30 people have been killed in two suicide bombings in northern Cameroon on Thursday, September 3.
According to military and police sources in Cameroon, the first bomb went off shortly before noon in the marketplace of Kerawa, a city on the border with Nigeria, Vanguard reports.
Shortly after, a second one exploded about 200 metres (yards) from a military camp, a police officer who pleaded anonymity said.
The number of those who sustained injuries is yet to be ascertained.
This attack comes barely a day after a suicide bomber, who was attempting to blow up a motor park in Bauchi state, was reportedly arrested.
According to report, at least 15,000 people have been killed and 1.5 million displaced since 2009 when Boko Haram which wants to impose a strict Islamic system in northern Nigeria began launching its attacks.
Cameroon is part of the Multinational Joint Task Force, fighting Boko Haram, which has Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Benin as members.

Cameroon’s far north region bordering Nigeria and Chad has been victim of Boko Haram attacks. In August, Boko Haram fighters reportedly killed at least eight people in a village in Cameroonbefore the military intervened and drove them back, killing 12 terrorists in the process.
In August, Cameroon had mobilized about 500 navy staff members to Lake Chad to stall Boko Haram threat in the area.
President Buhari has made halting Boko Haram’s six-year-old insurgency a priority in his agenda to save Nigeria.
Colonel Sani Usman, Nigeria’s army spokesman had earlier said the army will be able end Boko Haram soon, in coordination with neighboring countries, Cameroon, Chad, Benin and Niger, which formed the joint military force.https://www.naij.com/540160-another-attack-two-suicide-bombings-leaves-30-dead.html

Politics › Top 10 Most Hated People In Nigeria (2015) by resty4(op): 9:07pm On Sep 01, 2015
Just as Nigerians have people they love, they also have people they hate with passion. Although there are individual differences when it comes to likeness and hatred, some people are widely loved in Nigeria, while others are widely hated.
In no particular order, here are the 10 most hated individuals in Nigeria (year 2015).
Senator Ahmed Sanni Yerima:Former governor of Zamfara State and Senator of the Federal Republic. Hated for his strong support for the implementation of Sharia in the country and his marriage a few years back to a young girl widely reported to be a minor.
President Muhammadu Buhari:New president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Widely hated by Nigerians living in the South East and South West regions of the country. Not even his emergence as president reduced their hatred for him.
Denrele Edun:A celebrity. Widely hated for his odd and awful dress sense. It was speculated that he is g.ay, but he debunked this recently by making public his wedding plans — wedding to a lady, of course!
Ayodele Fayose:Ekiti state governor. Widely hated for his series of hate campaigns against President Muhammadu Buhari prior to the 2015 presidential elections.
Goodluck Jonathan:Immediate past Nigerian President. Widely hated for the high rate of corruption and nonchalance about national challenges during his tenure.
Femi Fani Kayode:Former minister of aviation and head of Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign organisation prior to the 2015 presidential elections. Widely hated for his multiple attacks against President Muhammadu Buhari, which many Nigerians deemed malicious and baseless.
Reuben Abati:Special Adviser on media and publicity to former president, Goodluck Jonathan. Widely hated for his strong defence of government policies and stands — regardless of whether the policies are widely accepted or not.
Doyin Okupe:Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to former president, Goodluck Jonathan. Widely hated for his blind defence of government moves and policies, even when the masses deemed those moves unacceptable.
Elder Godsday Orubebe:Former minister for the Niger Delta. Widely hated for his attempts at disrupting the proceedings of the 2015 presidential election collation, during which was acting as a polling agent for the PDP.
Buruji Kashamu:Newly elected senator representing Ijebu-east Senatorial District, Ogun State. Widely hated for his alleged attempts to evade justice following his alleged involvement in drug-related offenses in the U.S.

TV/Movies › Digital Tv Talk: Cable Tv Is Not Satellite Tv by resty4(op): 6:10pm On Sep 01, 2015
Only a few people, notably those familiar with the broadcast industry, understand that there is a difference between cable and satellite television. The rest of us hold on tightly to the eminently wrong notion that cable television is the same as satellite television. To the generality of television viewers, cable television is a synonym for the satellite variety.
Wrong as this notion is, it is explained by the similarities between the two broadcast platforms. However, being similar is different from being the same. Thus, cable television is not the same as satellite television.
Cable and satellite television operate over very different technological platforms and require different equipment. The material dissimilarities also ensure that there are differences in the coverage both services provide, although the content consumers receive tends to be roughly comparable. Satellite TV services tend to be slightly cheaper.
Yet, understanding the differences between the two services is an important step in understanding the way the broadcast process works. While you may get the same channels and content, the way these get to your television is different between satellite and cable television. For satellite television, data signals are transmitted from powerful antennas to satellites orbiting in space and then down to the satellite dishes of subscribers to the service. On the other hand, cable television is transmitted through cables from the television service provider to outlets in the homes of cable television viewers.
And because the signal is different (wireless in the case of satellite television and wired in the case of cable), subscribers need different equipment to receive television content.
In addition to the cable connection, cable TV viewers often require a cable box provided by their service providers. Satellite television users need a satellite dish to access content signal and a decoder, sometimes one with the capacity to route the signal to multiple television sets.
A major advantage of satellite television is its wide availability. Access to satellite television signal is possible from any location with a clear view of the sky through a properly installed dish. Trees, buildings and wires could affect the dish’s view of the sky. Sometimes, moving the dish, even slightly, can interrupt its precise alignment and affect reception.
Conversely, cable television requires that a home be connected to a cable network, usually around areas where the provider operates, making cable signal inaccessible in many rural and sparsely populated areas.
Cable television signal, however, is not prone to weather-induced disruption, while satellite can experience interruptions of signal strength loss on account of storms of cloud cover. This, however, will be back to normal once the bad weather abates.
A securely mounted dish with good exposure to the sky will reduce the impact of bad weather on the reception of satellite signal.
Cable and satellite television packages, to the consumer, can seem almost identical. Factors like price and channels available depend more on the provider than the technology used. Though local television channels can be transmitted through cable as easily as through satellite, satellite programmes often have more robust packages of foreign channels due to greater ease of transmitting international signals through satellites in space.
Satellite TV allows users to watch free international channels picked up by the dish.http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/189359-digital-tv-talk-cable-tv-is-not-satellite-tv.html
Politics › How Soldier-killing Suspect Was by resty4(op): 6:48am On Aug 29, 2015
When intending pilgrims from Zamfara State lined up for final screening at the Hajj camp in Sokoto, they had no idea that in their midst was a notorious cattle-rustler who is also allegedly involved in the killing of one officer and six soldiers of the Nigerian Army. The killings were carried out during a gun battle in Bakura Forest last year.
The suspected killer, Sani Halliru, a native of Dutsen Kura village in Tsafe local government area of Zamfara State, is said to be among the leaders of the cattle-rustlers operating along Katsina, Zamfara and Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State, notorious for violence and mercilessness.
Halliru had been identified as the person who allegedly shot and killed one Captain Ibrahim when his gang was engaged in a fierce battle at the forest with military personnel. Until last Wednesday when nemesis caught up with him at Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, he had been on the run. He was trailed from Zamfara to Sokoto by two Military Intelligence officers who came from Abuja and liaised with government officials, the Nigerian Air force and the police, resulting in his arrest.
The dramatic arrest was said to have created a scene at the airport as some policemen on duty at the airport, oblivious of the situation, attempted to prevent the arrest. The intervention of an operational officer of the Nigerian Air Force helped douse the tension. Daily Trust gathered that Halliru was able to be picked up by men of the Nigerian Air Force after spending hours convincing other intending pilgrims who were shielding him.
It was learnt that the operatives had to show the pilgrims a video clip in which Halliru was featured unleashing terror on his victims during one of their operations before they retreated. An eyewitness told Daily Trust that the arrest was made during the final screening of the pilgrims shortly after dinner.
Halliru’s name appeared on the manifest of the Tsafe local government pilgrims as number 44 and was scheduled for the 3rd flight which took off that very day.
After making a confession, he was bundled him into a waiting van and moved to a security personnel’s office on the premises. He was then moved to the 1 Brigade headquarters of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto, before being moved to Zamfara State that same day.
The suspect is said to have paid his Hajj fare to the agency through a proxy and only showed up physically for the prerequisite inoculation of pilgrims at the Local Government Secretariat. It was alleged that he was accompanied to the secretariat by six men in black suits.
A security source revealed to Daily Trust on condition of anonymity, that Halliru had been on the wanted list of the Nigerian Army, as he was identified as the person who shot and killed the aforementioned Captain Ibrahim and six other soldiers.
Halliru is currently in Zamfara State, where he has been taken for further investigation. His wife, who was seen screaming hysterically during the arrest, was later nowhere to be found. The 55 Forward Operation Base of the Air Force and 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto, both confirmed the arrest to Daily Trust.http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/news/how-soldier-killing-suspect-was-arrested-en-route-hajj/108557.html
