We should be seeing our problems as a people based on concepts not basically on tribes
Oh I see concepts so where was the fact that OBJ is a thief conceptualized?

I know nigeria is dangerously diverse but with rationality, progressive reasoning and insights we can overide the differences and florish as one people.

We need to learn to differentiate between criminality and civility, between patriotism and unpatriotism, between smartness and stupidity as a people.
Sorry go back to your initial post, all you asked of is missing. If you had used the following boldened the others would have taking a cue from you.

I don't think this is a yoruba issue but about corrupt individuals in nigeria spearheaded by obasanjo.
You started to think for a moment but you stopped.

@Red sun
The greatest failure of abacha as a creature was his failure to kill obasanjo when he had in a death hook. His death would have meant one monstrous rogue out of the way and would have saved nigeria over 30 billion dollars(rough estimate) that obasanjo and cohorts sqandered in the eight years period that he had the opportunity to loot and dismembered nigeria again.

Had he been killed by hopeless abacha, nigeria probably would have been on the way to true democracy and prospective unification
No proof no rational I think Green sun you should be killed, Show me the rough estimate in detail. Just show me any account where any money he stole is. It is very easy for me to also sit down behind my computer and concoct dreamed up stories that you Red sun is a thief.

@koruji another name for Asinine.

An Epitome of what it is to be brain dead. You say I am no Nigerian. You are right I am not your headless no thinking Nigerian Type. You have no intelligence hence I suggest you buy a very big fridge and lock yourself up so that you can start thinking properly because it looks like your brains thinks we are still in the ICE age.

Now to those that care Nigeria has the greatest Army(infantry) in the world. This is proof
1) Nigerian Army brought peace to Liberia with little or no little Intel on the ground
2) Nigeria dislodged a whole army Junta in a sovereign state (sierra leone)

I know we can beat 10 cameroun armies put together. Cameroun knows they cant stand us that is why they went to the international courts. If any nation attacks Nigeria then they have done us a favour.  I know the Nigerian Armed forces they are ready and Hungry for action. The armed forces of Nigeria are not happy dying at home in the hands of civilians trained by retired army general that call themselves "militants"
The Armed forces I know are trained for non controlled destruction. They kill you and apologise later.

Thank God for another Nigerian brain emerges from the brain atrophy lot that exist on NL. But I disagree with you on true Federalism. Can you school me on what is true federalism.

hmmmmm, ,

i waited so long to c how d arguments on ds topic will finally run out. i am exceedingly glad dt my very opinion and feelings about the true love for ds nation dat is displayed in every conceivable form, even frustrations, has finally been confessed overtly or tacitly by all indigenous parties. i am proud of every nigerian who has genuinely contributed so far, God bless us all.

earlier, d topic started as an adrenaline bomb. some foreign vultures tried to take advantage of d rowdy session to spread poisons coated with sweet rhetorics and double-talks. at som point, i remember some of us and myself havn to challenge dr audacities. i also remember mentionin dt if nigerian nation is at civil war and outsiders think dy cn take advantage of dt, d nigeria nation i know will rather suspend d war, fight the hyena, then resume her civil war. in other words, what unites us as a nation is greater dn our differnces, and we shaln't forfeit dt, period!

to my igbo kinsmen, i recognize d pain and frustration of being part of ds ramshackle national entity, neither is d unfortunate history of our ppl lost to me. i will never blame your feelings or sentiments since i know dt deep withn we all, we knw we can hav a better deal in d nation dn we currently do hav. never d less, ds is a new century, d biggest enemy we face as igbo nation is no other, but our very selves.

to my non igbo kinsmen, i am proud of your loyalty and support as displayed in our opinions. others say we r nation divided, mayb they r right from point of ignorance, but they owe us xplanations on why we r still able to exist together with all d challenges. d explanation is dt we hav learnt to exclude d foreigners from our 'family ' affairs. though sometimes back, i held d xtreme 'greater biafra' sentiments until i temporarily resided in d 'enemy' northern territories. havn freely related wt d 'enemies', i know better who and where d real enemies r. d true national feelin can best b seen at moments of common challenges; talk abt bakassi handing-over, MEND bombing of lagos jetty, ikeja cantonment explosion, victorious sporting outings, electoral reforms debate, and others. at dos moments, nobody cared if d individuals, party or places involved r near or far, as long as it is within d boundary of 'our nation', we respond together unanimously: dt is our power, dt is our strenght and dt is our glory as a nation. as long as such feeling can b guaranteed at such moments, then everybody waitin for ds nations failure can as well wait for d hell to freeze over.

burning issues as electoral reform, constitutional conference and true federalism r sine qua non to our national advancement, otherwise we remain stunted and bitter strange bed fellows. it is only my candid opinion dt there is no fear in implementing d above as it will can only end as win-win deal. and for those who think we share more history wt our cross boundary neighbours thn sister national tribes, i thnk it is false, one-sided, delusional and at best, myopic. i can only refer d proponents to an objectiv historical studies of the ppl wt ours. it will cost us much less to work for national reform progress as part of d nigerian nation dn tryn to pull out. renegotiating our terms of alliance is d most credible option available to all units of ds national fractions. and i dare we all to channell our energies to making that work, it is for ourselves and our future. it is only sure way to keep away all foreign opportunist, snakes, hyenas and land-grabbers.

i believ in nation where u and i r free to be who we r without d fear of other ppl being who they r or where they r from. dat shld b our legacy for n nxt generation. viva nigeria!

Like I've said before, this possible "tale by moonlight" issue over Obudu would be a non-starter if we had a united Nigeria. We don't. And because of that, how long would it take before a foreign interest cashes in on that internal weakness?
How many other times in the future would they cash in?

Rather than address these question, folks are here yarning dust
It is a military thing.

If you attack any nation weak or strong you can make it united and stronger. We have federal states already some of the state Governors has budgets of 1 bllion dollars and this same states collect revenue and even go to borrow money yet they are not accounted for to the governed

Some of The state governors are really enjoying because their citizens and agents are here on nairaland redirecting our thought away from the main issue the state governments.

We all have our prejudices. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

I'll be a liar if I said I did not have any prejudices. And I at least admit my prejudices. There are exception to the rules though.
Yes you have some modicum of reason. I dont blame you. There is direct brainwashing, indirect brainwashing and also reverse brainwashing but to save yourself from drowning in the water you have been used to be brainwashed use the bellow rules

1) Know that each being is a Unique social animal
2) Communication of a social being is 80 t0 90% non verbal
3) That you in your 100years on earth will only meet less than 100,000 people in your active life time yet what you do say will be repeated if you have high social value.
4) To Judge a whole Tribe with no scientific proof is evil equivalent to that of ethnic cleansing of Nazi germany.
5) Language grows and dies (what were the ancestors of the Igbo, Hausa and yoruba speaking 3 000 years ago?)
6) You are a tool and a pun when you allow tribalism to control you. There is reversed tribalism people on Nairaland will try to use reverse brain washing to get you.
7) Pretend you are not a tribalist for one month and see your objectivity come back to you.

I need to do a brain analysis on you yepa below is the most intelligent post on this subject. There have been many state governors that have made themselves rich from their respective states with billions pumped to those states yet the citizens of the state look the other way. It is easy to speak when you are in stereotypical mood. Yoruba's are this Igbo are that and hausa are the ones that is doing this, ,.,.,.,. it is just like three big for nothing idiots.

The problem here is that you have a divergent agenda from the secessionists here.

Who says they are pursuing separatism because they want responsible government or economic prosperity? What is clear that in Nigeria today the state governments have the major role to play in terms of improving the living standards of their people and developing of socio-economic infrastructure. But the secessionists never focus their energy on their state's developmental agenda.

It is more about  wanting to play the dominant role  in the affairs of the  country than any genuine agenda to improve the standard of living of the common man in their area.

I do not trust the Yoruba.

I think the Hausa are violent and extremist.

Igbos are too egotistical

Efik women are highly sexual beings

Ijaws are lazy and scream about oil oil oil

Ikwerre are confused Igbo

Ngwa are criminals

etc
This is called tribal stereotyping and Bigots use it to strengthen their arguments.

I wonder why people have not put it in their head that the Igbo do not want to be part of this nation. How hard is for people to understand that simple issue?

Nigeria does not want to let go of Igbos.

I read your post and I do hope you read this post before you become indoctrinated.

Tribe and Language is an Entrapment. The political elites want you into this line of thinking so that their work can be easier. They want us to go to war against each other while they marry amongst themselves across tribes. You will be surprised the real PROJECT of this thread is the destruction of FASHOLA. You will soon see it as fashola is supporting "igbo" to take over lagos state, just wait and see (may be it has already happened because I only read page one.)

There are people that went to school to train how to play the Igbo against each other and even some that have PHD degree in playing Yoruba igbo hausa against each other. It is hard to be a Nigerian even on Nairaland(this I say with sadness in my heart). The Northerners that the Parasitic Elite South blame are the problem are so poor that you will weep. The hatred in the hearts of some Nigerians is so great. Look at the Republic Niger in crises Nigeria cant help. It looks like the Parasitic elite are winning in the tribal Indoctrination of hate. This hate is killing Nigeria you either join the hate army or dear to be different.
PoliticsRe: General Institutional Stupidity Of Most Nigerians - The Bakassi/obudu Case by rethink: 6:13pm On Aug 01, 2010
The people of Bakassi voted to be independent and not join Nigeria, that did not mean they voted to join Cameroon. So because of that you people decided to twist logic by insinuation a no vote to join Nigeria means independence by joining Cameroon. Maybe Cameroon should also declare independence by joining France.

The main issue here is not Bakassi, that is settled, it is Obudu. It would be sensible not to reopen another conflict for now and besides you have not provided your reason why we should also cede Obudu to you, and after that where else?
Really so Nigeria should go to war to fight for the independence of Bakassi?

Is OBUDU part of Nigeria?

For some slowpoke to come to NL to say we lost Bakassi we shall lose Obudu Spiteful. I am sad that we "lost" Bakassi but it was never ours in the first place. The only reason why we are talking about it is that Obasanjo is involved.

Just read below and see what a normal human being is saying. If all the lands of say the yorubas to determine an Odua or More vividly of the IGBO went to a vote to form a land and state called Biafra. Assuming the vote went in favour of Biafra even if it was Gazillion years ago so far there is proof that there was a vote the poster below says we can not respect a decision.

If you conducted a referendum and "won", but failed to take possession of the land or secure it, whose fault is that? Why would you consider a plebiscite in 1961 relevant if conducting another one forty years later would give a different result.

Mind you, the statement "more Nigerians have over the years migrated and settled there" is not really valid. It was most likely the same group of people that grew in population over 40 years under Nigerian rule. They were neglected by Cameroun, and after 40 years of neglect their descendants simply didn't want to be Camerounians - that is the basis for a new plebiscite.

Cameroun and whoever is goading it should refrain from making any more silly claims. You can't just change people's nationality anyhow, wiping out identities they have built for themselves. Now that you have Bakassi, just make sure that 40 years hence the people would be able to proudly say they are Camerounians. Otherwise such useless land-grabbing may actually backfire if you continue to incorporate more nominal Camerounians, but actual Nigerians, in your nation. Incidentally, the write-up by Omoigui that you forwarded included this paragraph:

"Late President Ahmadou Ahidjo of Cameroun was a Fulani man whose father was originally from Kano in Nigeria. His mother was from Garoua in Cameroun. In fact Ahidjo grew up around Yola and Mubi in Nigeria and was a playmate of Senator Iya Abubakar. His former District Head in Nigeria, Ambassador Malabu, was made Ambassador to Cameroun to cement the relationship. It is said that every time late Alhaji Ahidjo saw late Alhaji Malabu he would genuflect."

I disagree with the above statements. Human being are incapable of rationality at all times, especially when there is emotional attachment to the subject matter. That is why it is considered foolish for a Lawyer to handle his own case or for a doctor to operate a close family member. We are emotional creatures, and all our decisions  are in some way are controlled by emotions. The advertising sector preys on emotions so does religion.

You cant imagine. I sometimes think that some Nigerians have signed away their brains. Ziddy says you are insulting, I say the way Nigerians talk about issues is an Insult to the intelligence of a Neanderthal. No facts and they go on ranting. If an orangutan was asked comment on this matter he will still ask for the facts.

See what tpia posted.

the real issue here is the nigerian govt should have at least three obudu style ranches in different parts of the country.

i see no reason why they cant have one in ondo state [plenty of forestland there], another one somewhere around abuja and a third one in kaduna or it's environs-anywhere not prone to civil unrest.

the ondo one should be located closer to the north central part of the state and away from the militant headquarters in the south. In addition, they should get rid of the armed robber/political problems plaguing the area, so these plans can be implemented.
These are the same citizens that we believe have brains. Someone must have gone to court to put an injunction of use of Nigerian brain.
