Of course its not a crime to treat fertility. However, I can say with 95% certainty that they were on fertility treatment. This is my field so I know what I am talking about. the chances of quintuplets through natural causes is less than 1 in 55,000,000 births

That said, you'll observe from my earlier post that I have nothing against this couple in this instance. If I had my way, I would give my own little contribution to support the family. My grouse is mainly with those useless irresponsible folks who keep churning out unneeded babies like insane rabbits and then wait for govt to come to their aid.
My field too. It doesn't happen everyday but anyone could be that 1% odd.

I get your point. His case is different from jobless fellows that keep producing kids.

I hope you do realize that those benefits don't amount to a lot of money. Trust me that money doesn't go far. When you convert it to naira it seems a lot but that's peanuts when you look at the cost of childcare in the West. This is the reason why it is mostly the less-educated who breed like rabbits.
The point is they are provided with free schools, healthcare and welfare.

Twins, not quintuplets and quadruplets. This is a completely unnatural chain of events.

You don't find it odd how it happens in a society that places such an emphasis on new life whilst not taking care of those already in existence? Why is this not more common in societies with better regulated healthcare industries?

Fertility drugs are not that pricey, clomiphene is less than $40. There are probably others that are even cheaper.
Still an assumption that they used it.

Unnaturalhuh Google is your friend.
The most common form of multiples are twins. Statistically 90% of all multiple births are made up of twins and the remaining 10% being shared between triplets, quadruplets and more.https://m.huggies.com.au/childbirth/multiple-births/quadruplets

No its not - at least not all of them. The popular clomid is less than 5k for the kit, and multiple births is a known side effect.

http://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2013/12/04/248795369/fertility-drugs-not-ivf-are-top-cause-of-multiple-births
Still assuming they were trying to treat infertility...
Even at that, is it a crime to treat infertility?
FamilyRe: Unemployed Man Welcomes Quintuplets In Abuja (Photos) by Rett0: 2:32pm On Apr 20, 2017
mmsen:
You said responsible but this is not responsible. Misusing fertility treatment is not a sign of responsible behavior.

And a degree is not a sign of being responsible - there are lots of single mothers in the western world who either have degrees or are getting degrees. All this despite the fact that children raised in single mother households are invariably at a social-economic disadvantage.

What is it that you're sure on?
You trying to sound intelligent but I have yet to be convinced....
You made an assumption and drew a conclusion at same stance. Funny
FamilyRe: Unemployed Man Welcomes Quintuplets In Abuja (Photos) by Rett0: 2:30pm On Apr 20, 2017
mmsen:
Some of the drugs used have been around for a while, it's not that costly but they are open to abuse. I'm pretty sure that's what this couple were doing.

Or rather, I'm pretty sure that because of the pressure that many Nigerian women feel to have children, the wife was taking fertility medication.

Whether the husband knew is another question.
All assumptions....
Lots of our parents had multiples without any fertility enhancement...
Let's learn to reason like learned people....
There's nothing strange here...
Fertility drugs are pricey and I doubt they can afford it.

Very few people who depend on government aid are ever 'comfortable', least of all a family with five children of the same age.

Most western governments have been working to cut back on spending by way of austerity which has meant that the amount given to families has been cut and the barrier for entry to such programs has been raised. That is why food banks have become so much more common and essential in many western cities.
Not true. Get your facts.
Doesn't apply to responsible persons with degrees.
I'm 100% sure when I'm talking about multiple assistance. Especially a special case like this.
FamilyRe: Unemployed Man Welcomes Quintuplets In Abuja (Photos) by Rett0: 2:12pm On Apr 20, 2017
mmsen:
In the western world they would end up living in poverty because western governments would only give them the absolute basics - a small home in a horrible area with bad schools and poor employment prospects; a basic food allowance that would be just enough to feed the children. It is these facts that have caused many parents to feed their children the unhealthy, nutrition deficient junk food that has caused a childhood obesity epidemic in the western world.

If the Government assists and both couple are working they will be very comfortable.

Which government takes care of multiples? What are their demographics - do they have large expanding populations like Nigeria or shrinking populations like Japan, Romania or Russia?

Why would the Nigerian FG or state governments look to encourage rapid population growth when the people are doing so already without any idea on how to care for their children?

I'm trying to educate you and you're still sounding ignorant. Multiple pregnancy is almost never planned.
So never budgeted for. Hence, Government intervention. This is their first pregnancy and they got this. Should they kill them?
If you can't help, leave them alone.

I do not have 5 children nor would I have 5 children because it is irresponsible.
FamilyRe: Unemployed Man Welcomes Quintuplets In Abuja (Photos) by Rett0: 1:23pm On Apr 20, 2017
mmsen:
If you can't fend for yourself how do you plan on raising 5 children?

It is completely foolish and irrational what this couple of have done and the fact that so many people on this forum cannot see that is why you keep having to endure 'leaders' who come from within your own ranks and take you all for granted.

Keep producing anyhow whilst crying about a lack of development. It's your own stupid custom and your own doing.
They could have cared for one baby alone.
Are they God that gave them 5?
If you can't help, keep mute.
FamilyRe: Unemployed Man Welcomes Quintuplets In Abuja (Photos) by Rett0: 1:21pm On Apr 20, 2017
mmsen:
Right.

Why do these people always appeal to 'government' to help them?

If government told them to use birth control would they listen or would they get angry?
Birth control for first pregnancy?
Government take care of multiples in other countries.
Please do your research before commenting..
Can you care for 5 babies alone?

When he was knacking the Akpako did he solicit the support of the Government, well-meaning Nigerians and philanthropists?

Carry your crosses o. Buhari already has too many things to worry about
Stop being dumb...
Even an average earning man can't care for five babies.
In the western world where people are gainfully employed, the Government provides welfare for multiples till they turn 18.
I doubt you are a parent for making such comment

Pls kindly help to clarify. When u nominate an occupation say Telecoms Network Engr and get an assessment as positive Engineer Tech. Is there any difference between that and nominating the occupation Engineering Technologist itself? A bit confusing since both are assessed by the same EA.
If you nominate Telecom Net. Engr and get an Engineering Technologist outcome, It means your occupation on your EOI can only be Engineering Technologist and NOT Telecom Net. Engr or any other occupation.
In summary, you only qualify to proceed as ET.

Following the recent major updates, I think its time we open a new thread. Lets start discussions afresh.
Seconded...
This will make it easier for new members to read and understand. Continuing might be confusing unless Oga bellong updates the First page.

Brilliant idea mamajaz.
We can even nominate 10 people so it will be about 24 pages each.

Hurray!! we are One.

Happy Birthday to this Thread.

A big thanks to Oga Bellong for this initiative.

In one year so much Grants has been issued.
I think a statistics of the total number of Visas issued in the past year won't be a bad idea.

May this New Year bring our Grants to us In Jesus name Amen

I got CO contact last week requesting for medicals and and wife's PCC from SUDAN (she had her MBBS from their).
We will be heading to a court in Lagos tomorrow to obtain a sworn affidavit declaring she was of good behaviour during her stay in Sudan. I plan to add this to my reply to CO. Thanks to bellong an Jamson for this suggestions.Deadline to reply CO is 6th of May.
I think the affidavit is a nice idea. You could also state that you've made efforts to get it but it didn't yield results. While all these are going on, you could try to see if she could make arrangements to travel to Sudan to obtain the PCC...
