In my own opinion there's nothing absolutely wrong with having two muslims in one ticket, in 1993 MKO & Babagana were muslims and dat election was adjudge the freest and fairest in the history of this country as alot of people turned out during voting. what really matters is the personalities involve (credibility of the contestants, how daring do they love ds country, what is their plans for this county, hw do they wants to achieved the said plans etc) and not politicians promising us health, education, road, water, employment etc when all this are suppose to be our rights.

Politics / Re: 2011: Fresh Row Over Jonathan’s Ambition by reubeno(m): 3:16pm On Oct 27, 2010
I think within the pdp there's alot of follow follow and as such it has pave way for feeble men to cease the party machinery. The party chairman is not loyal to GEJ who ensured he gets there, Nwodo is known to be working for Atiku since there days in AC.

PDP is never a credible party that will deliver the dividends of democracy to the electorate, it's a platform for crooks who have imbibed the DO or DIE Tactics of their adopted GOD FATHER 'OBJ '.

This is the time for credible opposition to to cease the government from this JOKERS  called pdp.
GEJ should be advised to surround himself with political strategist/gurus who can always predict the steps of his opponent befall he falls prey of his so called friends, he needs to get the key party men to his side, Lar, Clarke, Bamanga,Tafida etc are all light weights.

No wonder u will never see AMos Adamu talking about grass root development neither putting in place policies that will make the round leather game thrive in Nigeria rather he always like talking about 'hosting right', FIFA has zero tolerant for corruption, it's clear now that this MUMU has brought shame to Nigeria.

Freedom of the press is playing out there, if it was Channels or AIT that aired Okah's interview armed mobile policemen would have sealed the place. I also think that Aljazeerah is just doing what they known  best, gone are those days where CNN, SKY and BBC aired what the government of the day wants the world to see.

If u say they are biased to Nigeria what about the Thailand red and yellow shirt protest? Aljazeera is purely Journalism and nothing more, investigative journalism is good rather the pranks that we're been fed by local media's.
Politics / Militant Group Implicates Ibb On Abuja Bomb Blast by reubeno(m): 8:31am On Oct 08, 2010
UNREPENTANT militants of the Niger Delta have introduced another seeming curious dimension to the alleged terrorist attack in Abuja on Friday, October 1, 2010.

The Joint Revolutionary Council (JRC), a network of some unrepentant insurgents, claimed in an on-line statement to AkanimoReports on Thursday that former military ruler and a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, General Ibrahim Babangida, was behind the attack.

Spokesperson of the group, Mr. Bakabio Walter, said in the statement: ''We were approached earlier by agents of IBB to carry out attacks in the Niger Delta and Abuja to demystify President Goodluck Jonathan and show that he does not have the support of his people, but we declined''.

According to them, ''it was because of this that we suspended our armed campaign this year. We realised that IBB was going to use our genuine agitation to his own selfish, unpatriotic and over ambitious advantage''.

''It was when we declined that they approached Henry Okah who is a mercenary by nature, and they started with the Warri bomb blasts followed by this October 1, attacks'', they added.

Continuing, the JRC said, ''for now we can say authoritatively that Okah heads IBB's terror machine and theirs is more sophisticated than what they have done so far. Jonathan beware!

'Recent events in the politics of the Nigerian State further exposes the ethnic and national contradictions and justify our agitations for self determination and call for a Sovereign National Conference of all the nationalities that were forcefully conscripted into Nigeria. This is the only peaceful way of getting out of this babarism that is threatening to create the biggest refugee problem in the world.

''We would like to use this medium to warn Nigeria's dirty politicians not to drag our region and its genuine struggle into their muddy water of politics.

''Also, those who are planning to organise a coup de'tat should know that they would have us to contend with as we will never allow their authority to extend into our region. We are watching keenly as the drama unfolds, knowing that after all this mad dance of macabre we shall meet at the barricade''.

With Okah's revelations this whole independent Bombing saga is taking a twist, alot of Nigerians are eagerly wating for the government's reaction.

This has clearly shown democracy in practice, if it were to be in Nigeria that Okah was arrested he will not have access to talking to the media.

The president said he know's those who are responsible for this wicked act, he should released their names so that prosecution can start immediately.GEJ should be careful of whatever statement he makes on this matter and i will advise he thread softly on this matter.

There is nothing wrong if someone is invited for questioning in the wake of an invent of this magnitude that seems to threatens Nigeria especially as the nations head for the 2011 polls.

It's a slap on our national security for an invent of this size CCTV can not be provided to cover the venue and environs, Instead MILLIONS of tax payers money was used to purchased Brazilian rice under a phony programme 'Food for the poor'

Nigeria is gradually turning to Somalia, Sudan, Iraq etc, GEJ should wake up this is just the intro. MEND said there's going to be more bombing.
Politics / Re: Abuja Bombers Text Messages by reubeno(m): 8:53am On Oct 05, 2010
I will want to agree that GEJ is working on a script, first just about 24 hrs after the bombing  GEJ exonerated MEND and said he knows those who are responsible and he also alerted the south africa police to arrest Henry OKAH.

Only last nite a text was read on the Network news linking IBB to the bombing, i mean this is not nollywood movie a lot of casualties took place, bread winners were lost, people are still in the hospital in pains.

Security agents should endeavor to do their work well instead of feeding over 150 million people with cramp.

GEJ should not cook up cheep blackmail to bring the General down or neither  use sate machinery  on him, the 2011 polls (free and fair)  will decide who becomes the presido come 2011.
Politics / Re: Goodluck Jonathan Says Mend Is Not Responsible For Abuja Attacks. by reubeno(m): 7:57am On Oct 04, 2010
I totally agree with those people who termed our presido GEJ has been naive to the act of governance, that singular act has really lead to alot of people undermining his prowess to lead Nigeria including members of his own government (saraki and Gusua.
How on earth will he align himself to MEND? Pls let him mentioned names, however i want to advised he shud neva think that he can robe some of his political opponents into this shit.

Politics / Gej Tells N/assembly I Wants My Minsters, Aides As Delegate by reubeno(m): 1:22pm On Sep 30, 2010
In a move widely seen in political circles as aimed at enhancing his chances of clinching the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday proposed an amendment to the Electoral Act that will allow political appointees and elected officials to vote as delegates during political parties’ conventions. The amendment would pave the way for 42 ministers and hundreds of ambassadors and federal corporation chairmen to attend the ruling party’s convention as voting delegates.
Section 87 (cool of the Electoral Act 2010 has barred all political appointees at all levels from voting as delegates at political party conventions and congresses for the purpose of nominating candidates for elections.
The president was seizing upon the amendment window created by the request for extension of time made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to the National Assembly, to introduce legislation that will lead to deletion of the provision.

Proposing amendments to grant INEC extension of time for conduct of the 2011 general elections, President Jonathan also proposed that the National Assembly should “Amend Section 87 by deleting subsection (cool and renumbering the former subsections (9), (10) and (11) as new subsections (cool, (9) and (10), respectively.”

The subsection he wants to expunge reads: “A political appointee at any level shall not be a voting delegate at the convention or congress of any political party for the purpose of nomination of candidates for any election.”

The provision prohibits ministers, advisers, commissioners and all other appointees from voting as delegates at conventions which could grant undue advantage to incumbent political office holders seeking re-election. The PDP-dominated National Assembly had inserted the provision at the behest of party chairman Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, who wanted to clip the wings of the mostly anti-Jonathan state governors. But soon after it was passed, Jonathan, who is facing an unexpectedly strong challenge for the PDP ticket, frowned at it.

Meanwhile, the Senate yesterday commenced the process of considering the amendments to the Electoral Act after taking the first reading for the Electoral Act 2010 (Amendment) bill.

Briefing newsmen shortly after the session, Chairman Senate Committee on Information and Media, Senator Ayogu Eze (PDP, Enugu North) said the amendment process is expected to last about a month.

According to him, “I think there is a commitment on the part of all Nigerians, the Governors, the Speakers of the Houses of Assembly, the members of the National Assembly and all stakeholders that we give this two weeks, three weeks and we are done with it, maximum one month so that we will finish all the work.”

Eze said the National Assembly will not entertain inputs from stakeholders on the proposed amendments, saying “Luckily we do not need to start calling stakeholders anymore because the stakeholders have met even before this decision was arrived at. The stakeholders have also met with Mr. President, it is going to be easy and we believe that this will be done expeditiously.”

On the issue of staggered elections provided in the Electoral Act, President Jonathan has proposed that the National Assembly remove the sequence of elections in the Electoral Act to allow INEC determine how best to arrange the election dates.

The bill provides that “Section 25 subsection (1) of the Principal Act is amended by replacing the section with the following new section: Section 25 (1). Elections into the offices of the President and Vice President, Governor and Deputy Governor of a state, and to the membership of the Senate, the House of Representatives and the House of Assembly of each State of the Federation shall be held on a date and in sequence to be determined by INEC.”

The Electoral Act provides for sequence of elections beginning with National Assembly elections, Presidential election and then the Governorship and State House of Assembly election.

On the extension of time requested by INEC, the amendment bill proposes addition of subsection (3) to Section 25 of the Principal Act to read that “Provided that the said elections in the case of the 2011 shall hold not later than April 30, 2011.”

The amendment bill has also proposed amendments to the process of electing delegates for political party congress and convention by inserting a subsection that provides for identification of delegates and the procedure for elections of delegates in party constitution.

President Jonathan wants “A political party that adopts the system of indirect primaries for the choice of its candidates shall outline in its constitution or guidelines: (i) who shall be a delegate at the congress or convention, (ii) in the case of democratically elected delegates, the procedure for the election of such delegates.”

The amendment also wants Section 134 of the Electoral Act that deals with the period of filing and determination of election petitions to be deleted.

In all, the amendment bill seeks to alter 3 sections and six subsections to enable INEC more time to conduct the 2011 elections while political parties also have additional control in the process of electing candidates for elections.

Politics / Re: Nigeria At 50: Is It Worth Celebrating? by reubeno(m): 4:21pm On Sep 24, 2010
Personally  Nigeria @ 50 does nt worth celebrating, it should be a period of sober reflection.

The last 50 years is been saddled with corruption, starvation, ethnic/religious crisis (Boko Haraim), Political thuggery, high rate of unemployment, Bad governance, Kidnapping, 419ers, infrastructural decay etc.

A country blessed with abundant human and material resource at 50  failed to get it  right, "a fool at 40 is a fool for ever"- Fela, now that we are 50 what  should we be refer to?

The same process that have led to this present situation is  very much around and waxing stronger, we are heading towards another  decisive  moment of history (2011 election) let us please get it right for once.
