Health › Re: EAR CARE: Why Remove Ear Wax? Do They Protect The Ear? - Doctorsofficeng by Rhea: 11:38pm On Jan 19, 2017 |
DoctorsOfficeNg: Trying to remove your earwax can lead to ear damage.
The body produces earwax (or "cerumen" to clean and protect ears. The wax collects dirt, dust and other matter, preventing them from getting farther into the ear.
"There is an inclination for people to want to clean their ears because they believe earwax is an indication of uncleanliness. This misinformation leads to unsafe ear health habits," - Doctors On The Forum
Everyday activities like moving your jaw and chewing help new earwax push old earwax to the ear opening where it flakes off or is washed off during bathing. This is a normal continual process, but sometimes this self-cleaning process fails. The result: a buildup of wax that can partly or fully block the ear canal.
"Patients often think that they are preventing earwax from building up by cleaning out their ears with cotton swabs, paper clips, ear candles, or any number of unimaginable things that people put in their ears," - Supported By Doctors On DoctorsOfficeNg
"The problem is that this effort to eliminate earwax is only creating further issues because the earwax is just getting pushed down and impacted farther into the ear canal,".
"Anything that fits in the ear could cause serious harm to the ear drum and canal with the potential for temporary or even permanent damage," - DoctorsOfficeNg
The guidelines, published Jan. 3 in the journal Otolaryngology -- Head and Neck Surgery, state that excessive cleaning may irritate the ear canal, cause infection and even increase the chances of wax buildup, or cerumen impaction.
The new guidelines offer some tips on how to protect your ears:
1. Don't overdo it when cleaning your ears. Overcleaning can irritate the ear canal and possibly cause an infection.
2. Don't stick things in your ear. Cotton swabs, hair pins and toothpicks can cause a cut in the ear canal, a hole in the eardrum, and/or dislocation of the hearing bones, causing problems including hearing loss, dizziness and ringing.
3. Never use "ear candles." The guidelines say there is no evidence that this alternative medicine practice can remove impacted earwax. And so-called candling might cause serious damage to the ear canal and eardrum.
4. Do seek medical attention if you have hearing loss, ear fullness, drainage, bleeding or ear pain.
5. Do consult your medical provider to find out if you can treat cerumen impaction at home. Certain medical or ear conditions make some treatments unsafe, the authors of the guidelines explained.

Health › Re: what Test Can I Do To Ensure I Am Still Alive Apart From HIV Test? by Rhea: 11:04pm On Jan 18, 2017*. Modified: 11:27pm On Jan 19, 2017 |
frankloloko: I just got home from a dentist , my 2k wasted for consultation and I've been from one hospital to another . I am really depressed I've bad breath caused by excessive drinking but I've been thinking I've hiv but scared to do the test . I am not sick but people insolate me even to my own workers . I only have problem of sleeping and it's almost one year now . I want to run a test on my body but not hiv . Hiv will be the last . PleAse what kind of test can I do to ensure I am still alive apart frm hiv test There are many cause of bad breath. Two common ones are: 1. Dehydration: Drink more water. Beer is not water. Juice, coke, sprite, ogogoro is not water. Drink more water. 2. Floss your teeth after brushing them. Hard to say because most Nigerians have no idea what flossing is. Oyibo no tech us that one when they bring us toothpaste and toothbrush. Most food particles hide in between your teeth after meals, In 3 hours, that food particle becomes decayed junk and oozes the bad breath that people perceive near you. No amount of brushing or gargling will remove those particles stuck in between your teeth. N2000 would have bought you a tooth brush, toothpaste and hopefully a dental floss. If you drink too much, stop today. Alcohol is the most common cause of hepatitis in Nigeria. Hepatitis is the most common cause of liver cancer in Nigeria today. HIV does not cause cancer. Alcohol does. Smoking does. Guaranteed. If scared of HIV test, don't bother. But stop sex or do it safely. I would test if I were you. That way you can start treatment. HIV doesn't kill. But untreated HIV leads to AIDS, and with AIDS, even catarrh will kill you. |

snowblaq: .. ....are you for real ??...Augmentin 375mg is for children.....adult dose is either 625mg or 1000mg depending on the severity of the infection.....Augmentin does'nt present as 500mg... and I cant help wondering how u would advice him to get 500mg dose from a 625mg tablet........besides....what this guy needs is a sensitivity test...so he doesnt just go popping pills uneccessarily........................stop giving false advice.....it can kill.. Thanks for the correction. Augmentin is Amoxil + Clavulanate inn 4:1 ratio. Exists in 375, 625 and 1000mg. However, whatever tablet he takes makes no difference as long as he takes the appropriate dose to enable him reach therapeutic trough for augmentin. You cannot assume all 3 are available in every market. Augmentin will not kill you, not even if you wanted to commit suicide. Aspirin would. So would Alcohol. Sensitivities are not meant for everything. This is a simple infection that should be treated empirically. We are not dealing with a septic patient here. sonofLuci: No I'm not taking any medication and i didn't fall at all. Fever? Hmm had sore throat before lasted for 3 days along side catarrh and headache plus body pain not intense but they all gone. 3 days cold and catarrh that resolves is a virus. No cure for that. Body fights it off. If you went to a lab and they tested your urine and said you have staph (I assume staph aureus) and Ecoli, take the Augmentin. You should be ok after that. You have not said anything about the genital rash, but I assume it does not bother you as much as the itching. |

sonofLuci: Im itching all over no ratches but my skin is red dunno if it's because I'm light-skinned, pains in my lower back tail bone region and then lower abdomen, slight bumps on private region too Sounds like a number of things going on. Staph infection on skin will show a boil or boils with pus in it. Redness all over skin could be due to excessive scratching Small bumps in private region could be scabies (if itchy especially at night) or HPV (if not itchy). Scabies needs Benzyl Benzoate cream head to toe. HPV can be frozen out (cold freeze) Pain in tail bone sounds like muscular/bony issue. Did you fall on your butt recently? Any fever? If the lab said you have Staph and E.Coli, then Augmentin should do. Otherwise, you will have to be very specific with your symptoms, so I can figure out what may be going on and how to help. Are you taking any medications currently? |

The Atlanta airport is the busiest airport (by human traffic) in the world. It is currently undergoing a $6bn expansion. The airport remains 100% functional and available. The FG wants to close the airport and divert traffic to Kaduna airport so that there can be 2 contracts running concurrently (Abuja airport renovation and Kaduna airport expansion). That is more bride to chop for the senators and house of representathieves. |

PrettyCrystal: A family was shocked to meet an "unwanted guest" at their residence in Abuja after coming home from the mosque. According to Mall. Mansur Ringim who shared this, the robber was busy raiding their home while the family members were away praying (as it appears the prayer took effect immediately).
Fortunately for the home owners, the thief was apprehended while "on duty" before he was taken away by policemen who were called to the area. .
