A young girl has been killed by her smartphone after it exploded while she was talking on it in India. 18-year-old Uma Oram is said to have plugged her phone to charge and was speaking to a relative when the tragedy happened at her home in the village of Kheriakani in the eastern Indian state of Odisha.

The teenager received injuries to her hand, chest and leg and was knocked unconscious before being taken to hospital where she was declared dead.

Her brother said she had wanted to talk to an unnamed family member just after lunch but found that the phone, which had a Nokia logo, had run out of battery power.

‘The cell phone… was put on charging when she started talking to a relative.

‘Before we could know what exactly happened, Uma fell unconscious. She was declared dead at the hospital.’

Pictures of the incident show a damaged phone that some media sources in India say appears to look like a Nokia 5233, released in 2010.

MailOnline has requested comment from Nokia. It is not yet clear what caused the explosion.

Police have reportedly visited the scene to gather statements and Uma’s body has been sent for post-mortem.

A man got acquitted and discharged of rape charges after the victim claimed she had enjoyed sex with him. According to reports, he had grabbed the woman from the back and threw her on the ground violently. Before the woman could recover, the young man identified as Charles Lutaaya tore her fabrics and had sex with her in Uganda.

After the damage, the woman gathered her belongings and proceeded home. Though she had recognised the man, the woman kept mute in fear of shame.

Fearing that her husband and others would find out, she decided to report the case at Kibuye Police Station. To prove her claim, she presented her knickers that had been ripped up in the middle as an exhibit.

She was examined by a doctor assigned by the police and there was no evidence of forceful penetration.

However, the doctor noted the scratches the woman had sustained around the neck.

Upon the report, the police arrested the suspect and locked him at the Kibuye Police station.

No evidence was found on the suspect to incriminate him in the alleged rape; no unusual tears or scratches on his body. A detective who examined Lutaaya said.

“We did not take him for DNA examination.”

According to him, DNA is a new thing. Though there had been forensic science, it was not something everyone embraced.

In his statement to the police, Lutaaya maintained that he had not raped the complainant, claiming that he had had a love affair with her.

The complainant, after hearing the suspect’s case realised that she could actually lose her marriage.

She then knelt down at the police station and begged her husband for forgiveness.

“We did not expect that, but we later understood her point…She felt she was going to be accused of infidelity; she denied having an affair with Lutaaya,” the detective said.”When she apologised that seems to have cooled down the man and saved her marriage,” the detective added.

Dino Melaye, a Nigerian Senator representing Kogi West in the red chamber, has reacted to reports of the arrest and parade of political thugs reportedly funded by him.

Suspected assassin, Ade Lawyer who was recently arrested by officers of the Lagos State Police Command has made a shocking confession about the number of people he has killed. According to him, he has killed more than 100 people in his lifetime as an assassin.

The 39-year-old Adeola Williams, who is currently in police custody shocked many when he made this confession.

Many of those present during his confession couple of days ago were therefore taken aback when he revealed that he had killed over 100 persons, as he noted that assassinating people was his source of livelihood for over 10 years. “But now I’m born again,” he added

Williams, a father of three from Ijebu Igbo in Ogun State, was recently arrested by the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team over the killing of one Ganiyu Ayinla, aka Pinero, who was the personal assistant to Azeez Adekunle Lawal, the National Union of Road Transport Workers chairman in Idumota, Lagos. The incident took place on January 23.

While giving account of his activities, he said:

“Assassination has been the source of my livelihood for more than a decade now and I know I have taken many lives that I can’t even count but God knows I am a new person now.

“If I get a chance to regain my freedom in this life, I will never go back to crime again. I also advise the millions of youths out there that crime does not pay. I was into crime for over 20 years and despite the risk involved and lack of rest of mind, I have nothing to show for it except the uncompleted three-bedroomed bungalow in Ibadan.

“I have nothing on ground to fall back on despite taking the lives of more than 100 Nigerians as an assassin. May God forgive me.”

Willliams also revealed how he was once arrested and remanded in Ikoyi prison in 1998 for stealing a wristwatch belonging to late fuji musician, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, at a show in Lagos Island.

He said:

“A fight broke out when he was about leaving the hall and I found my way to the front where I succeeded in snatching his watch from his wrist. People saw me struggling with his bouncers and the next day, they brought policemen to arrest me in my mother’s house.”

Eventually freed in 2001, he said he went back to being a bus conductor and driver in Ajah – the same job he was doing before he went to prison. He said he joined the NURTW, Ajah Branch, where he was made a park attendant.

Through his years in NURTW, he said he worked for the likes of Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, Akanni Olorunwa, who was once a chairman of the union in the state, and one Mustapha Sagoe, who took over his unit initially.

However, Williams said he decided to take the life of Kunle Poly for refusing to talk to the state chairman of the union, Tajudeen Agbede, on his behalf. He said he worked hard for Agbede to emerge as the chairman but that he was dumped after the election.

Williams added:

“I thought about my predicament because my wife was heavily pregnant and the money I was getting from Oluomo wasn’t enough and I wasn’t ready to use my gun for armed robbery, so I decided to end the life of the man who refused to help me mend my relationship with Agbede.”

He said after the attack on Kunle Poly, he was later arrested but that he didn’t want to go down alone, thus he indicted some other persons.

A man, Mr. Dominic Johnson has been arrested for impregnating his 14 year old daughter in Lagos.

The incident reportedly happened at Onitire Avenue in Abaranje area of Ikotun, Lagos where they live.

It was gathered that the victim has put to bed a baby girl and they were brought before the Ikeja Magistrates court where Johnson was arraigned on Wednesday, the 14th day of March, 2018.

According to reports, Johnson resorted to his daughter after his wife who had three children for him died. He then ‘found solace’ in his daughter by sleeping with her and eventually impregnated her.

P.M.Express learnt that Johnson warned her not to tell anyone about the shameful act, even during the period she was pregnant until she put to bed and she decided to reveal the identity of the real father of the baby.

It was gathered that the victim revealed to the sister of her late mother and Johnson was confronted. He threatened to kill them including the baby.

The matter was first reported at the Ikotun Police Division before it was transferred to the gender section at the Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos.

Akwa Ibom State born Dominic accepted that he did it but that he was drunk the day he slept with her. He reportedly told the police that his wife died and he had no money to marry another wife and so was tempted to sleep with the victim but not with the intention to impregnate her.

The police found him culpable and arraigned him in court for defilement.

His plea was not taken, rather the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Sule Amzat ordered him to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail. The court ordered the prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi to duplicate his case file and send to DPP for advice.

The matter was adjourned till 8 May, 2018 for the report of DPP advice to be ready. It was gathered that Johnson may have committed a serious criminal offence that may land him in prison if found guilty.

An ICT teacher who, in the absence of a computer, drew the Microsoft Word interface on a blackboard to teach his students has arrived in Singapore to attend the Microsoft Education Exchange 2018.

The viral images of 34-year-old Richard Akoto Appiah – known as Owura Kwadwo Hottish on Facebook drawing a diagram of Microsoft Word for his pupils at Betenase M/A Junior High School in the town of Sekyedomase went viral after he posted them on Facebook.

“I wanted them to know or see how the window will appear if they were to be behind a computer,” Akoto told CNN. “Always wanted them to have interest in the subject so I always do my possible best for them.”

“Teaching of ICT in Ghana’s school is very funny,” he says on the caption accompanying the post.

Akoto’s 100-plus students were happy about the drawing because it made the explanation about launching Word simple for them, he said. And this is not the first time he had illustrated IT technology on the board.

“I have been doing this every time the lesson I’m teaching demands it,” he said. “I’ve drawn monitors, system units, keyboards, mouse, formatting toolbar, drawing toolbar, save as dialogue box and so on.”

His post came to the notice of Microsoft Africa who promised to equip him with a device and access to the MCE program and free professional development resources.

And judging from a Facebook post of Owura Kwadwo, Microsoft has begun fulfilling its pledge.

“Just arrived in Singapore for the Microsoft Global Education Exchange Summit. Looking forward to learn something new. #thanksMicrosoft,” Owura Kwadwo confirmed in a post on Facebook.

The Microsoft Education Exchange (E2) event has been in existence for more than a decade and aims to celebrate amazing educators and provide them with the opportunity to collaborate with each other.

A football chairman lost his cool and confronted a referee on the football pitch with a gun in his belt.

The ugly display occurred during Sunday's Super League game between title rivals PAOK and AEK Athens which ended in chaos as a pitch invasion followed a disallowed goal.

Ivan Savvidis, the chairman of Greek club PAOK also took to the pitch with a Gun in his waistband to confront the referee after Fernando Varela late goal for PAOK was ruled as offside.

The chairman reportedly told the referee: 'You're finished.'

Rival, AEK's Spanish coach Manolo Jimenez saw the firearm and claims to have heard Savvidis threatening the referee verbally.

'We didn't know if he had a gun, then we saw it,' Jimenez told Cadena SER. 'It could be seen that he was moving his hand towards his waist because he had a gun.'

Jimenez added: 'He threatened the referee right in front of me. According to my interpreter, he told him: 'You're finished as a referee'.

'I'm stunned; I don't understand it. It's the type of thing you expect to see in a Clint Eastwood movie.'

AEK will file a complaint with FIFA and UEFA.

Meanwhile, PAOK said in a statement said: 'After what happened today, PAOK chairman Ivan Savvidis is preparing all necessary procedures to protect the team and all his collaborators from the threats and attacks they have been subjected to.

'There will be relevant announcements on the issue soon.'

Nigerian rapper Olamide, who was supposed to perform in Barcelona, Spain has put the life of the show promoter in danger for failing to perform.



According to the promoter, Oluwatosin Oketumo based in Barcelona, popularly known as T-Cash, he is currently living in fear simply because a show which was supposed to feature Olamide flopped.

The promoter alleged that he contacted Olamide through his tour manager, Alex Ozone and they had an agreement of €8,500 to have the artiste perform at the event. Although he was unable to cough out the whole amount, T-Cash told Saturday Beats that he gave Olamide’s camp €4,000 but despite paying the money Olamide did not show up for the performance. Now people are posting his picture with the caption RIP.

He admitted that although he did not meet up with the terms and conditions of the contract, he ought to be refunded since the singer did not register his presence at the event.

He said:

“The name of my outfit is T-Cash International Promotion and I am based in Barcelona. I had a deal of €8,500 with O3 Media, Alex Ozone who is Olamide’s tour manager but I was unable to meet up with the whole money as of the time of the event. The initial agreement was that I was going to pay for the flight ticket and hotel reservation of five people from Prague, the Czech Republic to Barcelona, at the end of the day, I was told to add two more people to the list making it a total of seven people. I did not object.

They were supposed to arrive on Friday but I booked the ticket a day before so that we could have a massive publicity for the show. At the end of the day, the turnout was not as massive as I expected but I was able to gather €3,000. With that money, I went to the hotel to talk to Ozone to plead with him to have €3,000 and I promised I would give them the full payment after the show.

At the end of the day, they collected €3,000 plus the €1,000 I had given them earlier. After I had begged, he said that he went to talk to Olamide and the singer said that he would not perform if his fee was not complete, and that’s how everything went wrong and they left Barcelona.

“Olamide was in his room and they did not allow me to talk to him. By the time I went to the venue to talk to the crowd, people had scattered everywhere and before I got back to the hotel, they had already taken a cab to the airport and travelled to Germany.

I have been trying to reach them but they are not saying anything and people have begun to rubbish my name. Some people have been saying that they paid me and I absconded with their money but it is a lie. No one contributed a dime for me to stage this show. It was just me and three of my friends that came together to make it happen.

“Now I am trying to reach them to ask for my €4,000, even though I know I may not get the refund for the tickets I bought. Right now, I am facing a lot in Barcelona just because Olamide did not perform as I promised.

Many people are writing nasty things about me with some posting my picture and writing Rest In Peace on it. My life is in danger as I am being threatened constantly. I am facing a lot right now just because of the show and it is also spoiling my business. I contacted Olamide through Ozone because he is his tour manager. I am not thinking of taking legal action but I just want them to return my money and I would know how to sort the mess out,” he said.

However when Olamide’s tour manager, Ozone, was contacted he simply said that they had a deal but T-cash did not meet up his end of the bargain.

“Did he tell you we had a contract prior to the concert?” Ozone queried. “He didn’t meet up, that’s why I didn’t allow Olamide to perform. So how would I have got the balance? He didn’t pay as agreed, so we had to leave. The contract stated that he would pay €8,500 and provide flights and accommodation for five people.

“I have a right to sue him for breach of our contract. The dude made me lose €5,000 for that show. He did a live video on his Facebook page where he even apologised for using me,” Ozone said.

Chimezie Chuta was arraigned by the The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) Lagos Zonal office yesterday. He appeared before Justice Mojisola Dada of the State High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos.



Chimezie was a former employee in the publishing unit of Dominion Book Stores, an online book store belonging to The Living Faith Church Worldwide and was charged on one-count bordering on stealing to the tune of $56,000.

The suspect was accused of hacking into the company’s mail and diverted payments for some goods bought by online customers, into his personal account.

The defendant, who was said to have been an active member of the Living Faith Church Worldwide for six years, sometime in 2013, proposed to the church to build an online digital media store that would showcase all of Bishop David Oyedepo’s books and audio messages online, to enable members of the church in the Diaspora to buy them and also receive digital copies.

Before then the publishing firm had only been selling off their material offline, which the defendant claimed would limit the sales as the company could target more customers in different parts of the world by going digital.

Investigation revealed that the project was approved by the Church absolutely free of charge on contract basis. It was further revealed that the defendant handed over all the relevant materials to the ICT department of the church after his contract expired with the publishing firm

However, the defendant was alleged to have later gone behind to hack into the computer server of the church to replace the church’s account details with his and then divert funds to the tune of $56,000 into hi personal account. When the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.

Justice Dada adjourned the case to March 7, 2018 for hearing of bail application and commencement of the trial.

Nigerian top disc jockey, DJ Xclusive has condemned famous Marvel movie, Black Panther.

So a man snatched a wallet from a passerby’s hand and the woman, Tess Aboughoushe ran after the thief. When she caught him, she invited him for coffee. Because the Canadian woman felt it was the right thing to do.

On February 14, Aboughoushe was heading back to work from the chiropractor in downtown Edmonton, Canada. The mugger had asked another woman for money and when she pulled out her wallet, he grabbed it and ran.

“I saw the man and the woman on the side of the road and as I was walking past, she calls out that her wallet has been stolen. ‘Stop! Thief!’ Legitimately, just like a movie scene,” Aboughoushe told CNN. “He was running in front of me and I didn’t really stop to consider personal safety issues.”

Aboughoushe chased him down a couple of blocks, briefly lost sight of him and found him behind a dumpster in an alley.

“He started walking towards me and apologizing: ‘Here take the wallet. I can’t do this anymore. I don’t know what I was thinking. I’m so sorry.’

The victim arrived shortly after to retrieve her pocketbook. She hugged Aboughoushe, thanked her and asked her to walk back together to the main street. She declined:

“If I walked with her I’ll be turning my back on the man who tried to steal.”

To defuse the situation, Aboughoushe did something unexpected: She offered to buy the man a cup of coffee at a nearby shop. During their 15-minute chat at the café, he explained his desperation.

“He had come up to town the day before… and his friend basically abandoned him,” Aboughoushe said. “He left all his stuff in her vehicle. He got the coat from the homeless shelter… and he was asking for 30 bucks to get the Greyhound back.”

Aboughoushe thought the man wasn’t your typical thief. He returned the wallet and was very remorseful.

“I don’t know if [his reasoning] was real or not. It really didn’t matter at that point… It made the most sense and had the best positive outcome for everyone if I took him to a place where he could relax and offered him a coffee.”
