CelebritiesThis Is My 9th Award In Less Than 2 Years’ - OAP Nancy Isime Shares Emotional by rhonard(op): 5:57pm On Dec 18, 2017
A Nigerian On Air Personality has shared her success story on social media - The 26-year-old shared her story after winning her ninth award in less than two years in hosting - She talked about the struggles she went through before making it in the industry A female Nigerian On Air Personality has shared her success story on social media after winning her ninth award in less than two years in her hosting career. The 26-year-old identified as Nancy Isime who shared her story on her Instagram page won the 2017 Future Awards for On Air Personality (visuals). Ismie talked about the struggles she faced before achieving what she did. In her post, she noted that hosting was not part of her dreams, stating that it was just something she stumbled upon. She explained that she was influenced by people she met while participating in beauty pageants and ushering events.

Isime revealed that she worked odd jobs to pay her school fees. She noted that she would sleep at studios when she could not go home at night while working as an usher for events and participating in pageants. The OAP who expressed that she has made decisions she regrets in her life also advised people to keep fighting for their dreams.

Read her story below:
“Please, allow me take you back in time a little with this 3part post. Please pardon the length. You know, prior to winning The Future Awards Prize for On Air Personality(visuals) 2017…I had absolutely no feeling in me that I was going to win. I definitely made this known to people around me who kept saying stop it, you’ll win. On the day of the event, nothing really was going right…My dress, makeup artist, insane traffic. As at 9pm, I was still at a supermarket trying to buy tights for my outfit. Fast forward to walking into the event, late, battling a banging headache, exhausted, standing with my friends, trying to look for a seat. “And the nominees for On Air Personality are”- Mama Tobi announced. I just wanted to run out of the hall, my heart was pounding and I needed a freaking chair! So when my name isn’t announced I won’t be standing with people trying to read my emotions. “And the winner is…Nancy Isime!” Wait first, who?? . I have a defense mechanism to everything in life which is don’t let it sink in so it doesn’t get to your head or break you. So as I walked up on stage I kept blocking the realization of what just happened and even tried to crack a joke or two(Host mode ). And then I looked to the screen on the left and it hit me! “Winner-Nancy Isime-25years old”. You’re just 25 Nancy! And you’re out here doing the do, winning awards, hosting shows, addressing crowds, living a dream you never even dreamt of.

At 17, I started doing ushering jobs but this was solely because I wanted to escape my dad’s errands and be able to make a few bucks for myself. Luckily I got my dad’s permission. Slowly it became so I could fend for myself. Sometimes I’d be in traffic going to Ikorodu till 12am, sometimes I’ll finish an ushering job at 2am and drag chairs together sleep, be up at 7am to go back home to bath and attend the next audition. Sometimes I’ll be out of cash and have to trek quite a distance under blazing sun. I didn’t mind. It was hard but I LOVED being a working class teenager. The only mentally exhausting part was probably having to inflate my age every time to fit the job’s brief. #Part1Of3

lowly I went into modeling, won a pageant…went on to try more pageants. Those days were quite tough but Fun! Sometimes I’d finish a shoot late and have no option but to sleep on the studio’s rug till it was bright enough to get a bus. During my pageant days, I’ll spend all my savings trying to buy requirements and when I won or come 2nd my prizes were never redeemed. Lol. One particular pageant, I had to borrow money from one of the contestants to pay for my trad outfit hoping I’ll come up top 3 which was guaranteed cash prize. I came 4th. I had to give up my next job’s payment to refund. Saying that through these times I knew I’ll amount to much in the entertainment industry is lying to you. I was just trying to save up for university…and then my admission into diploma came…My name was number6 on the list. I was ecstatic but had to forfeit the admission after spending more time trying to raise funds to pay my fees and couldn’t meet up. I got admission again the next year to study social work, this time the school fees was more affordable for me even if it meant missing lectures to make some money to be able to afford handouts and the next semester’s fees.

I was done with My OND and was honestly just saving to go get another degree in social works in Canada. From working 2 shows for Ultima studios, the call from my Tolu Akeju came to come test run for HipTv’s Trending came. I got the job to host Trending and it dawned on me that maybe this is it. I started to get referrals for acting and during this time will have Godsent people tell me how they think I’d go far acting. #Part2Of2 Then slowly, this became the new dream…but never for once during this time did I think I’ll ever be recognized, be up for nominations let alone win any. This is my 9th Award Plaque in less than 2years. How? I don’t know! But I’m thankful! If there’s anything I’m never afraid to do is Try!I’m never afraid to try with all my heart. I’ve made wrong decisions, decisions I may not be proud of but I do not regret. It is what it is! I want to say to every young woman/man reading this, it’s never too early to start, there’s no bad way to start, there’s absolutely no shame in struggling. Take your time. Learn to let go, what’s for you will find its way. It’s okay to dream new dreams. It’s okay to dream small safe dreams but with the zeal and determination of a Tiger, it’s always fun when they don’t see you coming. Be humble, Humility will take you places hardwork can’t even dream of! It’s okay to make wrong decisions, realizing that they are wrong and willingly correcting them is the main thing. Retracing your steps is one of the hardest things to do but trust me, your future self will thank you for doing that. It’s okay to cut people off. The only important things in life are Real Love and Your peace of mind. Focus on the positives. Focus on your journey,if it means you getting off social media to do so..please do. Count your blessings, forget other people’s blessings…It ain’t shiit compared to yours!Be about your journey. Be prepared, you never know what opportunities God will throw your way to get you to where you need to be. I’m not anywhere close to where God wants me to be, who knows what new dreams will come up tomorrow. Lol! I haven’t scratched surface of my potentials yet, but I’m excited and beyond thankful for these achievements. Probably will never let them sink in, lol, but I’m in awe of God’s wonders in my life and with God by my side, I can confidently beat my chest and say “Nancy Isime, you kicked assess as a 25 year old!” 26!!! You ready to do this? Leggoo! #Part3Of3 #BirthdayGirlInAFew#SuperThankful”

CelebritiesJubilation As Nigeria Army Captures 167 Boko Haram Terrorists, Rescue 240 Victim by rhonard(op): 11:17am On Dec 16, 2017
he Nigerian army has captured 167 Boko Haram terrorists in Borno state - The army also rescued 240 victims - 67 women and 173 men - of terrorism - Army said its troops will continue relentlessly in the ongoing offensive to decisively rid the north east hinterlands of insurgents The Nigerian army on Friday, December 15, said it captured 167 Boko Haram terrorists in a two-week offensive launched in the Lake Chad region of Borno state. CelebritiesG-worldwide Release Statement Detailing How They Have Paid Kissdaniel Over N120M by rhonard(op): 3:15pm On Dec 15, 2017
It appears the legal battle between popular musician Kiss Daniel and his former record label G-Worldwide is far from over - The label has come out to reveal details of the financial transactions between both parties - According to them, Kiss Daniel has received over N120million The ongoing legal drama between popular musician Kiss Daniel and his now former record label G-Worldwide keeps getting interesting by the day. After Kiss Daniel’s lawyers said he left the label after they refused to show him financial details of his career with them, G-Worldwide has released their own statement clarifying issues. First, they denied rumours that Kiss Daniel was being paid N30,000 monthly and instead revealed that he has gotten over N120million from the label. They also wrote about how the label helped him get a house, start a taxi business for his mother amongst other things.

Read excerpts from their statement below:

1. Contrary to rumours making the rounds that Kiss Daniel was only on NGN 30,000 salary since he joined the label up until after the release of the Woju and Laye singles, this is nothing but falsehood. Before the release of those singles in 2014, Kiss Daniel was being paid a monthly allowance of NGN 30,000 to cover basic personal costs whilst he was still in his father’s house in Kuto, Abeokuta, he was also given a medical allowance of NGN 150,000 and other unrecorded stipends whilst no revenue was being generated by him. This remained the norm while the label invested heavily in recording sessions, productions, transportation, and other costs associated with developing him as an artist.

2. Loans of up to NGN 550,000 were given to him within 2 weeks of his signing onto the label for him to get a car for his mom to start a Taxi business. There are documents to back this. In addition following his request for financial support for his dad’s burial, G-Worldwide released the sum of NGN 200,000 to him which was exactly what Kiss Daniel requested for. As recent as October 2017, he again requested for a loan to run his account in order to acquire a house for himself under a mortgage, to this end the company released NGN 13,000,000 (Thirteen Million Naira) to him though the company was not obligated under the contract to do so.

3. As per the contract between Kiss Daniel and G-Worldwide, the label was meant to recoup its investment before any royalty-sharing was to commence; the only provision available for the artiste was allowances and loans which would be at the discretion of the label. In June 2015 following his return from his UK tour, the company amended the contract and immediately began the payment of royalties as agreed and from that time till the wrongful termination of his contract. G-Worldwide has paid Kiss Daniel the sum of NGN 117,233,318 (One Hundred and Seventeen Million, Two Hundred Thirty-Three Thousand and Three Hundred and Eighteen Naira) as royalties from performances alone, he has also received money from other incomes to the sum of NGN 3,296,826.40 (Three Million, Two Hundred and Ninety Six Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Six Naira and forty kobo) for the financial record of 2016 as opposed to the false allegations made by him and his lawyers (The company’s books of account support this) As it stands, Kiss Daniel owes G-Worldwide Entertainment quite a large sum of money for the financial year due to end in 2018.

4. Following the signing of the contract in 2013, Kiss Daniel moved into an apartment furnished by the label in April 2014 in Lekki Lagos and only moved out in October 2015. Despite the terrible picture painted by Kiss Daniel to the media, the label actually during that period undertook the payment of all the bills in the said apartment, including waste, power, service charges, feeding, etc.

5. We have also noted the falsehood that at the time of his father’s demise, the label barred him from attending the burial. Let it be on record that immediately the news of his father’s demise filtered in, Emperor Geezy, CEO of the label authorized that his own personal car is used to convey Kiss Daniel to Abeokuta to attend and be a part of his father’s burial. The label CEO’s brother even accompanied him on this trip, as well as one of the label’s staff. Interestingly on arriving at a hotel in Abeokuta which had been fully paid for by the label, he refused to attend his own father’s burial on the grounds that he believed that his family are fetish and were responsible for his father’s death.

6. In response to the claim that Kiss Daniel was barred from supporting other artists, especially those who supported him and the label at the New Era album launch, we would like to put it on record that at no time has the label barred him from performing at events where friends in the industry have asked for his support. We understand the importance of collaborative efforts in a fledgling industry such as ours. Kiss Daniel, however, has made it a habit to turn up at events late or not at all, always blaming the label for his truancy. Clear examples include his failure to appear at the Reekado Banks album listening party at Hard Rock Café and the recent 2Baba Buckwyld ‘n’ Breathless Concert on 22nd of October, 2017 at Eko Hotel. He did this even when 2Baba had provided two separate accommodations for him and his manager Louiza Williams at Eko Hotels, and the label had covered other logistics costs. He stood up 2Baba and manager after claiming he was on his way from 6pm till 1am the next day. He repeated the same show of shame at the Chronicles of Ushebebe and Soundcity’s 2016 MVP Awards. His excuse always being that the label has restricted him from supporting other talents in the industry. His favourite saying: “You know I’m signed to a label na, I’m not my own boss yet”. One should wonder why his manager would be at these venues to liaise with the event organizers before his arrival if he wasn’t approved by the label to be at those events. His usual play was to ask the manager if money is involved and once she says “no we are going to support” he will either not take his calls once she’s around his house for takeoff, or switch off his phones and later complain that he was not feeling too well or had an urgent meeting at Abeokuta. Last year, many people wondered how we managed to pull off such a massive concert for his New Era album launch with no support from any organization. That event which included the lease of the prestigious Eko Hotels with over 20 superstars was one of the most expensive projects the company ever embarked upon. Nevertheless, we understand that artists grow with their songs and popularity, and may eventually seek an early exit. That being said, a contract between two parties is a legally binding arrangement and both parties having deployed resources to perform obligations thereunder must ensure that the contract is executed or terminated in line with its terms and conditions. G-Worldwide’s contract with Kiss Daniel simply put, allows for the artiste to exit, but in so doing, he is duty bound to repay to the company all monies expended by the company in furtherance of the contract and all losses; including losses suffered from the cancellation of fixed events and shows by reason of the termination. The contract is also expressly clear on the fact that intellectual property rights to all the songs produced under the contract including the stage name of the artiste are properties of the company. We know that so far, Kiss Daniel has kept these facts away from the public; choosing to resort to cheap blackmail and whipping up emotions. We will not take this route as a responsible company and this is why we are in court. It remains illegal to deal with Kiss Daniel directly instead of G-Worldwide Management pending the hearing of the suit in Court.

My manager tried to have a conversation with them but before he knew it, they gave him a dirty slap, he was close to tears. They said they would arrest us and take us their station. I wanted to sue them, not as a lawyer, but solely because they violated my human rights, but then, it is really sad that they think because they have guns, they think they are in a position of power and they use these to oppress poor Nigerians." He concluded by asking for a revamp in the police force; “The entire police force needs a revamp. The problem is that so many of them are not as educated as they should be, so they treat people in a certain way. People are speaking up because things have gone out of hand. These are the men who are supposed to protect us, but they are opening fire on us. They have resulted to targeting young guys. These days, once they see a young man looking flashy, they automatically think you are a yahoo boy”.
