CelebritiesBeverly Osu Stuns In Creative Market Photo Shoot by rhonard(op): 12:50pm On Apr 19, 2018
Actress and former Big Brother Africa housemate, Beverly Osu took to Instagram to share these beautiful photos of herself which depicts "The Market Woman" with the caption :

THE MARKET WOMAN

In the market
Her spirit comes alive
In the market
Her prowess is stripped
In the market
She discovers her charm
In the market
Her dreams takes a flight.

Just like air
She tends to the mighty and low
Without a care
She smiles no less to Midas than Mendicants
Come rain or shine
She thirsts for a better tomorrow
For in the market
She has found herself a home.

Politics''why I Accepted To Serve As The Spokesperson Of President Buhari's Re-election by rhonard(op): 5:35pm On Apr 18, 2018
Just yesterday, my appointment as the Director, Strategic Communications of President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation was made public. In that capacity, I would be the Official Spokesperson of the President’s campaigns for the 2019 Presidential Election.

Let me put it on record that I was indeed consulted before the announcement. Upon the offer, I wholeheartedly and proudly accepted the challenge to do this for the good of my country and for posterity. For in President Buhari I have found an approximation of the lofty values I cherish and have fought for all my life.

I know millions of Nigerians have never seen me in the mould of partisan politics. This is because for the past two and half decades, I have been under intense public scrutiny while engaging successive governments (military and civilian) in the most critical way possible. The public has also watched me grow steadily all the way from that young, restless lawyer to the exalted position of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). In the process of my restless and relentless engagements of the authorities, I have been hounded, arrested, detained, paraded like a criminal, charged and discharged from courts severally, but remain unbowed. Hence, some of us have been branded as “radicals” and seen as completely apolitical.

However, the ultimate aim of every struggle is not really to enthrone a perfect, flawless system. Only the starry-eyed, younger ones think such is possible. That is Utopia. Rather, the ultimate aim of the struggle is to enthrone a government (yes, even with the normal human flaws) that is focused, determined and fiercely opposed to the unscrupulous wheeler-dealers in the society, committed to protecting the interests of the down-trodden, the weak and vulnerable.

One of the obvious ways to do this is to ensure that what belongs to all is not cornered by a few; and if they do so, to ensure that they are made to account and brought to justice. I can boldly say that no Government in the history of Nigeria has recovered so much looted funds as that of President Muhammadu Buhari. The fact that this Government has clearly chosen this path in protecting the masses of our country (as unpleasant as it has been to some) is one of the many reasons why I am so proud and bold about my support for the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari.

In doing this, I take a cue from my revered late boss, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN who mentored me. Throughout his career, he also consistently and fiercely engaged every government in Nigeria and suffered as a result. Guess what? THE ONLY GOVERNMENT HE FULLY SUPPORTED THROUGHOUT HIS LIFETIME was that led by General Muhammdu Buhari in 1984 – 1985; and that was to the chagrin of some of his professional colleagues and fellow “radicals”. However, he saw what they did not see at that time, because when that government was overthrown by General Babangida, what followed was the worst era in our history in terms of institutionalizing corruption and political chicanery in Nigeria. In the 2007 Presidential election, my late boss again endorsed General Buhari in the following words: “When we talk of anti-corruption war, there is no way you will exclude General Buhari. I don’t want to hear what a political party is going to do, whether ANPP or PDP or NDP or which other political organization. Tell me who is leading the party, tell me who is leading the government, that’s my concern. It’s a matter of leadership. This is a serious election, very serious one”.

Some of those same forces and interests that saw the back of General Buhari in 1985 are still very much around with us. You can hear their voices getting louder of late, preaching hate and toiling hard to incite the people against the President. They want us to go back to our old ways, disguised as if they genuinely care for the masses of this country. When you look at the profile and ignoble antecedents of these characters - the emergency heroes, some of us have no option but to undertake this role we have been called upon to assume just to ensure that they do not succeed in their selfish enterprise.

For all I have said above, my convictions about this job are deep and well thought-out. Given my background, it is clear that I cannot be a sycophantic rabble-rouser, looking for some personal gains. Having reached the top echelon of my career, some of us can conveniently stay away from all these, and continue to earn a good living from our thriving law practice. However, the call of duty beckons because we are at a critical crossroads in our history where one wrong turn may take us back to the sorry state from which we are emerging. We are here to convince and appeal to the masses not to allow us take that wrong turn.

Now, it is important I elaborate a bit on this “sorry state” from which we are coming. Some people always attempt to befuddle the issues by continually reminding us of certain statistics that existed before 2015 and after 2015. However, our situation before 2015 is comparable to that of a car on a high speed, seemingly doing well on the road, but with the temperature gauge already rising. That car is in trouble. But to the uninformed, the car would be seen as doing well.

However, the callous driver, fully aware of the rising temperature in the engine, continues to speed on. After some time, it is inevitable that the engine of the car would overheat and crash. In that state, the callous driver hands over the car to the new driver. The new driver, seeing the condition of the vehicle, decides to fix the radiator first which is responsible for the overheating in order to protect the engine, before setting out on the road again. Yet, the callous driver mischievously calls everyone to come and see how the new driver has parked the car to fix the engine before setting out once again. The callous driver tells everyone that the new driver is clueless; that that is why the car was parked briefly.

The above anecdote is a graphic reflection of the situation we find ourselves. With the crash in oil prices just before 2015, the previous government resorted to borrowing to pay salaries and recklessly drew down on our foreign reserves, just to give the impression that all was well. So much unearned money was also circulating in the country amongst a few, giving the false impression that we were in a buoyant economy. However, the economy was headed for a crash. All the indices show that the slip into recession started shortly before this government took over, like the car which engine was already over-heating.

The attempt by a few to deceive the people that all was well with us before this government took over, is one of the reasons some of us have decided to come out of our shells to put a hole in that false narrative. It is simply a big lie. I am persuaded that the Buhari Government took the right measures to halt a bigger disaster awaiting our economy had it been otherwise. Those who are persuaded otherwise are within their legitimate right to do so. We are all patriots, trying to find the right answers to our problems as a nation. However, if you are persuaded otherwise, kindly state in details what exactly should have been done to run the economy better, given the crash in oil prices and production that dropped to around 700,000 barrels per day. Surely, discerning Nigerians would no longer buy the fable of “Buhari destroyed our economy”.

If I voted Buhari in 2015 and I am to vote for him again in 2019, then why can’t I campaign vigorously for him? I see no reason. It is a fallacy to say you are neutral in politics, yet you step forward to cast your vote at elections. If you are persuaded enough to vote for a candidate of your choice, then you must also be persuaded enough to campaign for that candidate, because your vote would be lost if you do not convince others to also adopt your position.

That is why I have made my choice for 2019 and I will publicly stand by it. That choice is President Muhammadu Buhari. For those who are persuaded otherwise, I challenge them to also name their choices because you cannot criticise my choice of a candidate without naming your own choice. After all, the President would not be running against ghosts or against a vacuum. Therefore, this is not a time to hide behind a blanket criticism of any candidate. Each candidate should be assessed in comparative terms with other candidates.

There has also been much attempt to de-market the President using his age and health as pummeling tools, and as such raising the decibel in the clarion call for a young or younger President. Firstly, on the issues of age and health, it would be ungodly and outrageous for a mere mortal to assume the status of God Almighty to speculate on the longevity or strength of any human being. Even doctors have been proven wrong on so many occasions. It is a matter entirely in the hands of God. Our past Presidents that died in office (Abacha and Yar’Adua) were in their prime. In fact, Abacha did not even show any sign of a failing health before he slumped and died. In Zimbabwe, the main opposition candidate for years, Morgan Tsvangirai used the issue of age and health to campaign against President Mugabe, urging him to go and retire and rest. Yet, just a few weeks ago, Morgan Tsvangirai died at the age of 65 and Mugabe is still alive and kicking at the age of 94. Those are the mysterious ways of God Almighty. No human being should even use that as a campaign gimmick. That person would be courting the wrath of God Almighty.

In addition, no one can argue that age has anything to do with the required integrity to be the President of a country. I also firmly believe that our value systems in politics and the society have been so damaged pre-2015, that a firm and experienced hand is needed to reset our collective psyche before we can set sail again. The notion that public office is just available to share money which was the norm pre-2015 is gradually being changed.

Spending a few more years to sustain that kind of re-orientation will do us a world of good. President Buhari is one of the very last of the upright Mohicans in Nigeria available to help reclaim public integrity before he takes his bow in 2023, if the Nigerian people so wish. We must take advantage of his still being around to deepen the nation’s moral fabric.

The choices before us have never been so CLEAR in the history of our country. On the one hand are those who are already in the mud and seeking to drag others into the mud. These are the ones who keep saying “We are all corrupt together”, and who keep confessing and apologising like people coming out of a trance. They say they should be forgiven because they have been “honest” enough to confess and apologise. Fellow Nigerians, there is nothing like an honest thief. It is a disgusting oxymoron. A thief is a thief. This is especially so if the thief did not willingly come out to admit he was a thief until his hands were caught right inside the cookie jar.

The other choice before us is a President who has been accused of everything that is false but even his most ardent critics, and detractors locally and internationally have not accused him of having a penchant for wealth accumulation. I am persuaded to campaign for him by his austere lifestyle, his Spartan taste and frugal nature. I am not looking for a god or an angel to vote for. They are not around here on earth. I am only looking for someone with these minimum personal qualities I have enumerated above. The President’s other human flaws may be there, but I am waiting for the candidates of our opponents to show me their credentials from heaven.

People can easily point to those with questionable past in the ruling party, the APC. With my antecedents and in my true conscience, I cannot defend them and cannot make excuses for them. However, in joining the President’s party, they are subjecting themselves to the disciplined leadership of the President. Like Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN said above, it is the leadership that matters. Like I always ask: should we all stop going to church because some known sinners also throng to churches every Sunday? The obvious answer is in the negative. On the other hand, the other party whose key leaders were all part of those who pilfered our commonwealth are about to present us with one amongst themselves as a Presidential candidate in 2019. Of course, reasonable Nigerians are waiting to dismiss that before it happens.

However, for some of my friends, colleagues and associates who are still persuaded by the other way of running our country, and who belong to different political platforms, all I can do is to wish them well, but also state that this is a time for us to agree to disagree. It is all for the good of our country. It will bring out the best in us in canvassing our persuasions. However, I will be putting my heart and soul to this assignment and if anyone is offended by my commitment to the cause, I offer no apology. You can also do likewise to advance your cause. Nigerians would decide at the end of the day.

My message to all those teeming supporters who did it in 2015 for our President is that you do not abandon a ship with which you set sail midway. Our race is not a 100-meter dash. It is a marathon race to rescue our country. We are almost there. When we turn the corner in 2019, you will see the tape at the finishing line. We must not run out of breaths. We believed in 2015. We must keep that belief alive. The hallmark of true supporters is to stand firm in times of storm and in times of calm. The storm is almost over. The President has battled to take control of the steering wheel of the nation and we are on course.

Do not let the naysayers bully you whether in real life or in cyberspaces. When they run out of arguments, they resort to abuses. If they abuse you, see them as patriots, but misguided ones; if they attack you, see them as patriots, but misguided ones; if they call you unprintable names, see them as passionate patriots, but misguided ones. Do not retaliate. With time, especially when majority of votes wipe out their minority opinions in 2019, they will come round to you and acknowledge your vision. So, hold your own and keep your heads up.

For us, this race is never a do-or-die affair. We shall present the facts as we see them and let Nigerians decide. We do not have to hire Cambridge Analytica to scare the electorate. They are already sufficiently scared by the humongous corruption that took place under the watch of the last government; the electorate are already sufficiently scared by those who are apologizing just to sneak their way back to power; the electorate are also sufficiently scared by the tons of cash buried in graveyards, farm houses, luxury flats in Ikoyi, in Yachts in the High Seas and those used to buy real estate strewn all over the world.

Nigerians know from where their problems came. They know it is not President Buhari. They know it came from some of those battling tooth and nail to displace him. Those who are persuaded by us should not remain aloof, please. Kindly join us in this journey.

Thank you.

CelebritiesPRO Of Police Shames Davido’s Baby Mamas, As She Explains How Chioma Won Davido’ by rhonard(op): 4:40pm On Apr 17, 2018
Davido’s two baby mamas have been unapologetically shamed by the Zonal Police PRO, Dolapo Badmus, who in a cryptic Instagram post explained how Davido's current boo, Chef Chioma won his heart that his baby mamas couldn’t.

According to the Zonal Police PRO, Davido’s baby mamas are lazy 21st-century girls that cannot cook and expect their man to be eating out at restaurants always while Chioma has made her way to his heart with good meals. She wrote:

“The best way to an African man’s soul is through food. All ladies out there should learn how to prepare dishes! No man wants to be eating from restaurants all the time. Homemade food is the best! If you are confused ask that boy that killed Goliath why after 3 or 4 baby mamas, he is sticking and dotting roundabout that @chef.”

“That girl has obviously won the game and will be getting her left 4th finger filled with Mr. D’s ring soon! You all thought it is juju No no no she’s gotten him through dishes (power of food) young ladies get yourselves into the kitchen and learn how to make good recipes and Mr. Right will stay.”

Crime‘I Decided Not To Impregnate Her Because She Is Only 13’ – Rape Suspect by rhonard(op): 6:23pm On Apr 13, 2018
The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old suspect child rapist identified as Chukwuebuka Nnaji, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.
The suspect who met the little girl at a hotel at Madalla Junction, reportedly lured his victim with a gift and dragged her to an isolated area in the bush and had carnal knowledge of her.
Confessing to committing the said crime, the suspect child rapist told a Punch correspondent;
“I knew she is an underage girl; that was the reason why I have not impregnated her. I want her to be of age, so I can marry her.”
“I had sex with her because I wanted to deflower her but it has dawned on me that I was simply infatuated.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, who confirmed the incident said that Nnaji would soon be arraigned in court.
This is coming few months after 30-year-old rape suspect, Mohammed Abubakar, admitted to luring a nine-year-old primary four pupil with a N10 lollipop because the wife just gave birth.
Abubakar, a commercial motorcyclist, and resident of Tudun Fulani in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State, disclosed this while being interrogated by the Niger State Child Right Protection Agency.
Abubakar said:
“I saw her outside her school where I had parked my motorcycle to buy sweet and she told me to give her sweet. I gave her a sweet and then lured her to an uncompleted building and had sex with her. I am a married man and we have a three-month-old baby; I have not been sleeping with my wife because she just gave birth recently and that tempted me into doing the act with the girl. I only had sex with the girl once; I am sorry.”
Narrating her ordeal, the victim said:
“He usually lures me to an uncompleted building close to the school during break time. He will touch my buttocks and put his finger in my private part. He also gives me sweet and promised to give me N6,000 if I did not tell anyone about the act.”

Politics2019: How APC Governors, PDP Leaders, Others Reacted To Buhari’s Declaration by rhonard(op): 9:37am On Apr 10, 2018
Leaders of Nigeria’s ruling party and those of the opposition parties reacted differently to President Muhammadu Buhari’s announcement on re-election on Monday.

Mr Buhari told a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the APC that in response “to the clamour by Nigerians to re-contest in 2019,” he has decided to accept the offer.

He said at the closed door meeting that he wanted to give NEC the honour of notifying them first.

Membership of the NEC comprises the president, his vice, leadership of the National Assembly, elected governors as well as chairpersons of the party across the states among others.

For many APC governors, the president’s declaration was great news.

The first governor to react to the declaration was Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

Mr El-Rufai who often refers to himself as a “Buharist”, took to his verified Twitter page to post a “Breaking News” announcing the president’s decision immediately.

“BREAKING NEWS: PMB has just announced to APC NEC his intention to run for a second term of office. Alhamdulillah. – Nasir El-Rufai,” the governor wrote.

Also, chairman of Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, described Mr Buhari’s declaration as a response to a clarion call from Nigerians of goodwill.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, in Owerri on Monday, Mr Okorocha said the president had performed very well in his first tenure.

He said Mr Buhari’s second term bid was a “right choice in the right direction”.

He said the president’s declaration would end the “cheap blackmail” from the opposition over his silence towards his ambition in 2019.

The Imo governor expressed optimism that APC would win the presidential election in 2019.

On his part, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno said the president’s decision to seek re-election in 2019 ”is the right thing that happened to the nation’s political system in recent times.”

Mr. Shettima stated this when he fielded questions from State House correspondents in Abuja on Monday.

The governor said members of the APC, including the 24 governors elected on the platform of the party, had expressed their support.

“We are fully in support of his decision and it is part of democratic culture: traditionally, the president has the right of first refusal of the candidature of the party.

“So, it’s not something that is unusual or unwarranted or unconstitutional, he has done the right thing, he is going to contest and we are solidly behind him.” Mr Shettima said.

On whether the president consulted with APC leaders before announcing his decision to seek re-election, Mr Shettima said Mr Buhari was not under any obligation to ”consult governors or anybody.”

According to him, the president has been under tremendous pressure to make that pronouncement.

“So, we should heave a sigh of relief since he has finally announced his intention to contest.

“We will give him the kind of support we gave in 2015,’’ he said.

The Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello also pledged the support of the people of his state.

The governor gave the assurance in a statement signed by his Director General of Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo.

“I am a staunch supporter of Mr President and I am proud to be associated with such a great leader and personality,” Mr Bello said.

The governor said the people of Kogi State were the first to call on the president to seek re-election in next year’s presidential poll at rallies organised in “Anyigba, Kabba, Isanlu, Olamaboro and Okene which attracted hundreds of thousands of attendants.”

“We thank Mr President for listening to the voices of Nigerians who are satisfied with his performance. Kogi people were the first to organise rallies in different towns and cities to call on Mr President to seek re-election.

“As the leader of the state, I wish to assure Mr President that my people are solidly behind his policies of economic recovery, security and the fight against corruption. Kogi will deliver to Mr President, more votes than the state gave in 2015,” the governor said.

Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State, said it was “heartwarming that Mr. President today told members of the NEC of his intention to seek re-election.”

He said the declaration was “the brightest moment for our country. A moment that has rekindled the hope of our people.”

“A moment that has reaffirmed that all the good works, the good initiatives of the president that saw us out of economic recession the country was plunged into by mismanagement of past administration will now be sustained to take us to the desired enviable position among the comity of nations.

“The president has exhibited high sense of good leadership. He has shown that he listens to the yearnings of millions of Nigerians who called on him to continue the good work he started since 2015.

“The onus is now on all good and well-meaning Nigerians to rally round our president and ensure that the reactionary forces of the opposition and agents of doom are not allowed to dash the much cherish hope we all have in the new emerging Nigeria by doing the needful during the next general election.

“We cannot afford to go back to the dark days of extravagance and impunity. President Buhari has changed the game. He has brought sanity to governance. The war against insurgency is nearing logical conclusion and our economy is improving,” he said.

An aspirant in the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State, Ayo Arise, said it was in the interest of Nigerians for Mr Buhari to re-contest in 2019.

Mr Arise stated this while speaking with journalists after picking his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the election, at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja.

The former lawmaker said that Nigerians would not regret the decision if they decided to re-elect Mr Buhari in 2019.

He noted that though the Buhari government had been faced with some challenges, it needed more than one term in office to truly develop the country.

“Apart from governance being a continuum, I believe that if I want to tar a road between here and Lagos, then the life of a regime might not be able to finish it,” he said.

He, however, said that the administration had achieved a lot in fighting corruption, ensuring security of lives and properties and infrastructural development.

Mr Arise maintained that Nigerians should continue to support Mr Buhari for as long as possible “and as long as he is physically fit.”

OPPOSITION REACTION

The main opposition party, PDP, described Mr Buhari’s announcement as an internal affair of the APC.

The party in a statement on Monday by Kola Ologbondiyan, its publicity secretary, said his declaration only makes him an aspirant not a candidate of the party till primaries are conducted.

“The declaration has placed President Buhari among the ranks of aspirants seeking to be the President of the Federal Republic, effective May 29, 2019.

“Until he becomes the candidate of the APC, we will not spend precious time on his mere show of interest,” the party said.

For a former PDP chairman, Ahmed Makarfi, “It’s no news that he is contesting, it would have been news if he had announced the opposite.”

For Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, Nigeria does not need Mr Buhari in 2019.

Mr Fayose told journalists in his state that Mr Buhari would “kill Nigeria” if re-elected.

He said Mr Buhari was too old to lead the country well and has “bungled the opportunity given him by his woeful performance.”

Balarabe Musa, a former Governor of Kaduna State and head of an opposition party, PRP, “welcomed the declaration” by Mr Buhari to seek re-election.

Also, the National Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Victor Oye, said President Muhammadu Buhari was qualified to present himself for re-election.

Mr Oye, in a statement in Awka on Monday said as a Nigerian, Mr Buhari had the constitutional right to seek another term in office.

“He is qualified, so we have no problem with his declaration to run for second term.”

Similarly, Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Anambra, Bartho Igwedibia, said it was inalienable right of Buhari to seek re-election if he wished.

Mr Igwedibia said only the Nigerian masses had the final say on who would preside over their affair.

He called for free and credible elections that would yield outcome reflecting the wishes of the people.

“The Constitution of Nigeria guarantees two terms for all elected political office holders; so Buhari is qualified to enjoy that right.

“There is nothing wrong with his declaration and there is nothing special about it, too.

“Nigerians are the people that have the ultimate say on who will lead them; every person, including myself, can declare but the people will speak with their votes.

“Nobody should stop anybody; my take is that voter awareness should be intensified and people should get their Permanent Voter Cards in order to speak with their votes.

“All we want is free and fair election where people can vote and their votes should count,” he said.

PoliticsEx-igp Abba, DIG Ajao Reportedly Vie For Okiro's Position As PSC Chairman by rhonard(op): 3:51pm On Apr 03, 2018
As the tenure of Sir Mike Okiro as chairman of Police Service Commission comes to an end on June 12, different candidates have reportedly been vying for the position. One of those vying for the position is former inspector general of police, Abba Suleiman, who was sacked by ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan - The other candidate eyeing the position is a retired deputy inspector general of police, Israel Ajao Investigation has revealed that Suleiman Abba, former inspector general of police, and Israel Ajao, retired deputy inspector general of police, have been shortlisted for the position of chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), Daily Independent reports. It was noted that investigation by Daily Independent revealed this reality. Sir Mike Okiro's tenure as chairman of PSC would statutorily expire on June 12, 2018. According to sources close to Okoro and the presidency, although Okiro is not willing to stay another five years as chairman of PSC, the presidency is not disposed to renewing his tenure.

Sources at PSC and forces headquarters said: “There are pressures from some serving police officers urging Okiro to seek for an extension, because since he took over there have been rapid promotions for policemen. “Officers are promoted as and when due and on seniority basis. He also encourages hard work by promoting officers who perform the extra feat, and he is not biased." It was reported that politicians who have the ears of President Muhammadu Buhari are pushing against Okiro’s extension in order for their candidates to assume the position. It was learnt that some top northern politicians are pushing for Suleiman, giving the reason that former president Goodluck, Jonathan sacked him because he was disloyal to him, alleging that he was working underground for Buhari when Buhari was yet to be sworn in as president. According to a top politician in the southwest, Ajao should be given the job because Yoruba votes contributed largely to Buhari's victory. He reportedly told Buhari that for him to convince the Yoruba race to vote for him again, he should appoint a Yoruba persons into sensitive national positions. It was learnt that the deal was discussed when the president came to Lagos on a two-day working tour. One of the newly appointed commissioners who is yet to be sworn in said in confidence: “The president is already succumbing to the pressure from the top politician. Whoever the president appoints, we will work with him.”

PoliticsHow Foreign Firm, Working With Israeli , Tried To Rig 2015 Election For Gej by rhonard(op): 3:34pm On Mar 22, 2018
A damning report published by the U.K Guardian has revealed how a foreign firm tried to influence the 2015 presidential election in favour of the then incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.

A London-based data mining and analytic firm, SCL, which is the parent company of Cambridge Analytica, was hired to do the dirty job by an unnamed Nigerian oil billionaire who was afraid of Mr. Jonathan losing the presidential election, the paper reported on Wednesday.

Cambridge Analytica is currently facing global outrage over its misuse of personal data of more than 50 million Facebook users.

It has also been mentioned in the alleged rigging of the U.S election in favour of President Donald Trump.

A former employee of Cambridge Analytica is quoted to have told the Guardian that the covert campaign in Nigeria was to gulp nearly $2 million, although the election was six to eight weeks away.

The paper said the strategies involved both ethical and unethical acts like procuring from Israeli computer hackers, hacked information on the then opposition leader, Muhammadu Buhari’s finances and medical records.

Cambridge Analytica, the paper said, released “an astonishing and disturbing” video intended to scare voters from giving electoral support to Mr. Buhari who eventually defeated Mr. Jonathan, anyway.

The video contained scenes of violent killings in Nigeria, the paper said.

“It was voter suppression of the most crude and basic kind. It was targeted at Buhari voters in Buhari regions to basically scare the shit out of them and stop them from voting,” a former contractor with Cambridge Analytica said of the video.

Analyzing the testimony of persons who worked on ground in Nigeria with Cambridge Analytica during the campaign, the Guardian stated: “Their testimony paints an extraordinary picture of how far a western company would contemplate going in an effort to undermine the democratic process in a country that already struggles to provide free and fair elections.”

Officials of the Cambridge Analytica were said to have hurriedly left Nigeria at some point for fear of their safety.

The Guardian said there was no suggestion that Mr. Jonathan was aware of or implicated in what happened.

The paper said SCL admitted it was hired to work for the re-election of Mr. Jonathan, but denied using hacked or stolen data.
