A Facebook user has claimed that a pregnant lady identified as Janet Oyewole from Osun state who reportedly escaped from ritualists lost her memory.

According to the pregnant lady, all she could remember was that a car dropped her at a roundabout in Ado Odo area of Ogun state, as she hopes to reunite with her family.

Facebook user Princess Akapo Temitope, who broke the news wrote:

Fears grew in north-east Nigeria on Wednesday about the fate of potentially scores of girls who have not been seen since attack on their school by suspected Boko Haram fighters two days ago.

Militants stormed the Government Girls Science secondary school in Dapchi, Yobe state, on Monday evening. Locals initially said the girls and their teachers had fled the attack, but many were still missing on Wednesday.

Boko Haram gained notoriety in April 2014 when its fighters abducted 276 girls from their school in Chibok, in neighbouring Borno state. Fifty-seven escaped in the immediate aftermath and since May last year, and 107 have either escaped or been released as part of a government-brokered deal, but 112 are still being held.

Monday’s incident sparked fears of a repeat of Chibok, and on Wednesday morning some 50 parents and guardians gathered at the school to demand information.

“Our girls have been missing for two days and we don’t know their whereabouts,” said Abubakar Shehu, whose niece is among those missing. “Although we were told they had run to some villages, we have been to all these villages mentioned without any luck. We are beginning to harbour fears the worst might have happened.

“We have the fear that we are dealing with another Chibok scenario.”

According to school staff, there were 710 students at the state-run boarding school, which caters for girls aged 11 and above.

Inuwa Mohammed, whose 16-year-old daughter, Falmata, is also missing, said that parents had been frantically searching surrounding villages. “Nobody is telling us anything officially,” he said. “We still don’t know how many of our daughters were recovered and how many are still missing.

“We have been hearing many numbers, between 67 and 94.”

Police in the state, which is one of three in north-east Nigeria worst-affected by the Boko Haram insurgency, said they had no reports of abductions following the attack.

Yobe’s education commissioner, Mohammed Lamin, said the school had been shut and a rollcall of all the girls who have returned was being conducted. “It is only after the headcount that we will be able to say whether any girls were taken,” he said.

Some of the girls had fled to villages up to 30 kilometres (20 miles) away through the remote bushland, he added.

Boko Haram has used kidnapping as a weapon of war since its insurgency began in 2009, seizing thousands of people. Some 300 children were among 500 people abducted from the town of Damasak in November 2014.

Getting accurate information from the remote north-east of Nigeria remains difficult. The army still largely controls access and infrastructure has been devastated by nine years of conflict.

The military in Chibok initially claimed the students had all been found, but was forced to backtrack when parents and the school principal said otherwise.

Hospital in Ajah, Lagos allegedly refused to take in an unconscious accident victim despite pleas from good samaritans who brought the victim to the hospital.

According to actor Segun Arinze who shared the story, the man was brought unconscious to the hospital but the staff made no move to administer first aid or try to resuscitate him. They locked the gates of the hospital to the man and refused to open the doors.

The man's situation is currently unknown.

Nigerian singer Skiibi has joined the train of those shaming Five Star music label, as he recently noted in an interview that the label is no better than a secondary school which only serves the purpose of preparing people for the future.

Skiibi was signed to Five Star Music before he made his move from the label. Though his departure from the label happened immediately after Harrysong’s problematic exit from the label, the singer noted that his decision to leave Five Star Music was not consequent upon Harrysong’s exit. It was his personal decision, taken for the best of reasons.

It seems his reason for dumping the label is now known, as the singer said quite some hilarious yet humiliating stuff about the label. According to Skiibi, 5-Star is like a Secondary School which signees have to leave if they want to make it bigger in life. A thief who reportedly makes his python swallow his loot, was reportedly caught at New Benin Market on Tuesday. According to Facebook user, Uuzele Louis, the man was just identified as an ‘Hausa man’.

Binta Safiyanu, wife of a member of the Katsina state House of Assembly, has died after she drunk a herbal concoction that was meant to boost the flow of her breast milk.

The case is currently being investigated by the police after it was reported that the woman died from drinking the herbal concoction.

According to PUNCH, the deceased, a mother of six, was reported to have died just a week after she was delivered of a set of twins. It was learnt that Binta was the first wife of Hon. Yunusa Jikamshi.

It was revealed that the woman after being delivered of the babies, could not produce enough milk from her breast to feed her babies with. This made her other co-wives implore her to take a herbal concoction which was said would increase the flow of milk in her breast for the twin babies not to starve.

The other two wives allegedly assured her that the concoction would enhance the flow of the milk. Another version, however, had it that the deceased was fond of taking traditional herbs and allegedly directed a woman identified simply as Sakina to prepare the concoction for her.

The deceased was reported to have started vomiting immediately after she took the mixture. She was was subsequently rushed to Musawa General Hospital, where she was confirmed dead on arrival. She has since been buried, according to Islamic rites.

Sakina is however being detained by the police. The spokesman for the state police command, DSP Isah Gambo, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation was in progress to unravel the real circumstances surrounding Bintu’s death.

Memebers of the Katsina House of Assembly have expressed their shock over the incident and they were seen in their numbers trooping into the house of the lawmaker to pay their condolences.

MultiChoice, DSTV , GOTV to shut down June 2019

The Federal Government may have notified the management of MultiChoice DSTV/GOTV that their operations, in Nigeria, will come to an end in 2019 as their license expires June next year.

According to a letter to that effect issued, on Tuesday, by the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation(NBC), the license issued to them in 2014 by NBC will not be renewed because it was not in line with Digital Switch Over (DSO) White Paper.

If Multichoice DSTV/GOTV will ever operate in Nigeria again after expiration of its license, the only option left for them is to go to licensed Signal Distribution company, that is Pinnacle Communications Ltd or ITS.

GOTV has been accused of being used as a conduit to siphon foreign exchange from Nigeria by its parent company, South African Multi Choice DSTV.

The youths and the police have reportedly clashed over the killing of a bus driver in Edo state. The development grounded commercial activities on Akpakpava road and Second junction - One of the Hilux vans was said to have been set ablaze‎ during the incident Pandemonium on Tuesday, February 6, struck the third junction in Oredo local government area of Edo state as angry youths staged a protest over the alleged killing of a bus driver by a policeman. Punch reports that the ‎protest later turned violent and resulted in a clash between youths and some mobile policemen deployed in the scene.

Subsequent efforts by the security agents to calm the aggrieved youths proved abortive as ‎they (protesters) destroyed some operational vehicles of the police.

According to a report, Taomwabwa who originated from Nigeria was left dead after he was reportedly abducted by unknown people from the city center in the Turkish Cyprus's province of Famagusta. Turkish Cypriot police found his body near a pond outside of the city and detected he was killed after he was beaten up.
