Lagos is only active becos of the oil trade in the Niger Delta, take oil away and the state is finished. The backbone of the Nigerian economy is export of crude oil. The banks are triving cos forex is being brought in thru trading in oil.

But fortunately for Lagosians, the state has enough oil to sustain it. Also its neighbouring state, Ogu, also has some amount of crude oil. So all hope might not be lost for Lagos should the Niger Delta choose to cede

You get my 100% affirmation on your post. The igbos are the only courageous people to fight for their right and injustice, other ethnic groups are too cowardly especially the yorubas. Did you notice that these people attacking you viciously (yemmyse,bawomolo,bilymuse and Arnold10) where no where to be found when useless Mpele and RSa were insulting Nigeria and Nigerians? They could not even reply him. But these same people when they "igbo" they suddenly feel very hard pressed not to attack us. This what outsiders are seeing. To all of you (yemmyse,bawomolo,bilymuse, Arnold10 and others) who ran away when Mpele and co. were attacking Nigeria i say SHAME ON YOU!

Who was the first person to respond to the psychopath called Mpele? I responded vehemently until i realised that the guy was just a low IQ punk that deserved no response. Believe me i dont take it lightly when anyone, especially a foreigner tries to put down my tribe, my nation or my person. U could ask Mpele and detruth. But u ll never catch me putting down another person's tribe or nation, it is debasing (if that usage is allowed).

I happen to have been in the midst of European friends for quite a while and there is something an Austrian friend always tells me that strikes me real hard.
He always says
"The biggest problem of Africa is that the colonial masters just drew up shapes and called them nations, cutting tribes across nations and binding tribes that have nothing together in common, into one nation."
Europe is the most developed continent. Why, because most nations in Europe are very homogeneous. What do i mean by that? Homogeneous in the sense that since they were not colonized, tribes/ethic groups metamorphosed into countries. The homogeneity in Europe is so much that Edo and core Yoruba are more different in language than Spanish and Portuguese, yet Spain and Portugal are two different countries!
In Europe a difference as much as the difference between Yoruba and Edo would have resulted in two different countries talk less of the huge differences that exist in the entity called Nigeria!
I foresee Nigeria splitting sooner or later. The Igbo (like the jews) will always be led out of captivity.
With the exploits and technological advancements the Igbos achieved during the war, it was speculated that if the igbos had seceeded, they would have been a real technological superpower in Africa at least.

Do you know what it means to start a war with 120 police rifles and sustain the war for a very long time on locally made bombs and stealth airports till you can get foreign supplies?
Do you know how ebulient a tribe can be for a war that Gowon wrote off in the beginning as "We would overrun them in 30 days" to last 3 years?
DO you know what it means to be Igbo?
I bet you guys don't. The igbo' really surprised the world in the Biafran War.

I was speaking with an elderly man sometime ago and he told me that one of the British Lords Qualified the Yorubas as "The are as gullible as the British weather".
That was why they betrayed and "gullibly" turned against agreements in the biafran war.I rest my case for now

Another bigot, cant u guys do without putting down another tribe, what has the enboldened got to do with the topic or the rest of ur post.

I will like to categorically state that I never meant to use this post to bring down any state. My main objective is to point out the fact that Ekiti has more potentials than what the people therein are enjoying today. We cannot talk about Nigeria without zeroing it down to those states therein. As a stakeholder, I earnestly seek for a positive change in Ekiti. If there are no change in the states, what then did you expect of the nation?
Ekiti state has impacted the nation one way or the other (especially in educational sector), but did little or nothing to herself. Only what progresses gets to a target but I wonder where Ekiti is moving to with all these problems. A change is highly required rather than being sentimental or emotionally disturbed. The whole thing sounds like a white sepulcher to me.

@yemmyse and co
A very good example of "over sabi" in display! What a confused set of people? It would have being better for you to use your "English engineering" knowledge to build the state and create at least one industry. With "seeds" like you still carrying same spirit around, I pity your future.

In addition, "yemmyse" sounds like a simpleton for that name-calling! We are talking of dynamic change, he's talking of grammar. What a  pity! I expected you to bring out something better in your own constructions, but to my surprise you sounds awful! Proper Ekiti boy!
Maybe I need to tell you this "Little friend"; this little I have is enough. I will never need anymore. Nevertheless, you may always need it, at least when seeking for employment or better job. Poor mind!
For a graduate of 1995 - simply pathetic

Pls learn not to get an Ekiti man pissed.
PoliticsRe: Over 70m Nigerians Are Illiterate — Official by RibaduFan(m): 9:19pm On Sep 15, 2008
I think we need to clearly define the term illiteracy.

Illiteracy - he condition of being unable to read and write

Going by this how on God's earth can u tell me that 70% of Nigerians are illiterates, even in the North, almost everybody reads and writes in Arabic. Able this is just another ploy to get fund from UNESCO and EU. Even our govt is involve in scams. grin

@topic
I will like to direct the attention of the good Nairalanders to the state of confusion called Ekiti State.
Since I knew this state (or rather since it was created), there has being no meaningful development. I can say the state is one of the least developed state in Nigeria with only one or two major street.
All the so called knowledge cannot the seen anywhere around them. They claimed to be one of the state with most educated elites (which is true to a point) but that never connote they possess the fountain of knowledge. The state of Ekiti State is pathetic!
It is always one political problem or the other. What a fountain indeed!

Bigotry at its very best.

Simpleton or no simpleton, at least I don't bastardise the english language on a public forum.

Am still very much interested in knowing your state and knowing how much u ve helped in the development of that state.

'Simpleton', 'poor mind', 'Proper Ekiti boy', at least i don't use constructions like 'dynamic change'. Abeg read your sentences before posting or better still u could ask a primary school pupil to vet them.

@quotasyste

When I say You re a bloody bigot, u say no. Listen to yourself - Yorubas are cowards. How on God's earth are the Igbos more courageous than the Yorubas, by fighting a senseless war and destroying everything their progenitors worked hard for?

Look my friend a coward in this time and age is one that refuses to dialogue and refuses to see things from a different perceptive. And if am to go by this u re the worst coward have come across in my entire life. Look at the way the Yorubas handled the June 12 saga, what more can be more courageous than that. The benefits of that courageous and decisive action is still being reaped by millions of them. Think of what would have happened if they had declared war on the rest of the country.

"Most times we stand in the house of the coward (wise) and point at the ruins of the house of a courageous (foolish) man"  - IGBO Proverb

Think my dear.

How can u know if a state is in confusion or not, when ur own grammar is in confusion.

Did u agree? - jo now simple English u cannot spake.

My state is less than 15 years old, it is on its way to development. The path may not be smooth, but it would get there.

The only rxn why u hear so much noise about the state is becos of the level of intellect in the state.

By the way what state re u from, Otondo?

BusinessRe: Top 5 Most Richest Nigerians by RibaduFan(m): 9:51pm On Sep 12, 2008
If any one doesn't believe that Igbos are the most populated in nigeria, such person is insane.
If any one believes that hausa/fulani are the majority, such person is insane.
If any one believes that the last census and previous ones wasn't falsified to portray the hausa/fulani as the majority, such person is insane.
If any one believes and refers to the CIA fact book as a means of finding out the real population of nigeria, i say such person is the biggest fool and will remain a fool as long as nigeria exists.

If you want to know the most populated ethnic group in nigeria, which the Igbos are, then do not be afraid to include "ethnicity" and "religion" during census count. Don't count off head and come back to tell me that hausa/fulani are the most populated. That is a myth and falacy and it's not accepted nor believed anywhere in Igboland. Igbo people are the most populated in nigeria with a population of over 60Million, period!! If you doubt it, then recount the people of nigeria and include "ethnicity" and "religion" and lets see who is more in number than the others.
