You're missing something and that's what people are trying to explain to you.
Jesus never committed himself to the crowd. They always followed him because of what they could get, but they could never give themselves fully to Him, that's why He always withdrew Himself from them. Human worship is vain, and i hope you see beyond your overt adulation of mere men and give yourself fully to Christ, no matter whose ox is gored. If men of God are infallible and cannot be wrong, there is a serious problem with one's thinking. There are no sacred cows in the kingdom. Cheers.

They have their own version of the bible that has been translated in such a manner so as to hide the truth about the deity of Christ. Its one of the most inconsistent versions I have ever read. Its no wonder they are a confused over the issues. let me give you an example:

Heb. 1:8. "God is your throne forever" (a nonsensical statement) is put intead of "your throne, O God, is forever," because this statement refers to Christ.

Look at Genesis 2:1-2 and notice how complex the sentence construction is. 1 Thus the heavens and the earth and all their army came to their completion. 2 And by the seventh day God came to the completion of his work that he had made, and he proceeded to rest on the seventh day from all his work that he had made.

Notice the phrase in bold. God "proceeded to rest" The hebrew specifically states that "God rested" but becasue the JWs do not believe that a day in creation is a literal one, they used the expression proceeded to rest to indicate the long time it took God to commence resting. When one proceeds to do something that one has not yet begun to do the action as yet. If I proceed to cleam my desk it doesn't say if and when I would have started cleaning. The phrase only indicates that I have the intention to do the act, or I may have begun to move towards my desk. Hence there can be no closure to the activiy itself, until the past tense is used, and not the past continuous.

But when you visit their bible and look at the book of Hebrews and its account of the creation you will notice the contradiction. In Hebrews 1:4 this is what is quoted, 4 For in one place he has said of the seventh day as follows: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works,”

Notice the use of the past tense as it relates to God having rested?

I rest my case.

thanks bobbyaf. I know about all those - i've argued with many of them before - that's why i asked that question. I even had their bible at one point. (For example, John 1;1 is rendered as; in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was a god.)
I was hoping she'd reply though but she didn't. If one rejects the very core teachings of the faith, i really wonder what's left to beleive. Anyways, i pray for them.

i think you've partly answered your question. the entry of sin into the world by our first parents was what led to man's seperation from God and condemnation. Gen. 3;17-19. However, in Christ we have been redeemed from the curse.
There are different kinds of suffering, poverty isn't the only form of suffering; there are many people who are rich but still suffer emotionally and mentally. Ultimately, the yoke of sin, guilt and shame is lifted in Christ Matt11;28-30
However, like Telly B said, even in Christ we suffer persecutions and what not, and only when His kingdom is established will we fully enter into and experience His glory.

The reason why your prayers are not being answered is quite simple
If God went to sleep on the seventh day and Christ is worshipped on Sunday then who are they (Sunday churchgoers) praying to? Because God is sleeping, unless you are trying to wake him up and serve him on his day of sleeping . . . God worked a whole six days and now on Sunday morning he’s laying in his bed. This is how he makes this sound.
God is sitting in his chair, or laying in his bed he goes to sleep on Sunday morning, and you go to church on Sunday morning and go, “oh God, oh God, oh God.” Then you’re wondering why your prayers are not being answered. The reason why your prayers are not being answered is quite simple; because God sleeps on Sunday. You have to change the day – try Wednesday when God is up working. Have you ever tried to disturb your mother and father when they were working (or sleeping)?
You don’t thank God for health and the gifts that you have. You’re in church on Sunday begging for more stuff.

i've come across this uneducated rambling one too many times lately.
first off, christianity is not a 'white man's religion' whatever that means. it was started by Jews who were middle-easterners. In the divine order of things, the europeans accepted christianity earlier than we africans, (and not just africans but south americans and asians) and their missionaries brought it down here.  it was only a matter of time before we accepted Him. Now the case is the reverse especially in europe and you can see a lot of africans in europe pastoring whites. Pastor Adelaja is a noted example.
Salvation is of the jews, but in Christ there is neither jew nor greek, we are all one in Him. I pray one day your eyes would be opened to see beyond the divisionism, hate and bigotry you're spewing and embrace the One who is able to save your soul. Cheers

Why is the opinion of the Jews on the matter of the messiah untrue? They've a better argument than Christians in that they can show that the Christian christ did not fulfill the many prophecies required of him - many Christians accept that but dubiously claim he'll fulfill them at some later date, when he returns.

wrong. the faith was started by Jews, Paul was a jew (he was a pharisee), the apostles were jews. the pharisees are a hypocritical religious sect who rejected Christ because he condemned and exposed their hypocrisy. If you need knowledge, read Rom 10 - 11. the Christ fulfilled all the prophecies required for his first coming; those pertaining to his second coming he will fulfill when He returns.

as regards the verses you misinterpreted, let me cite the statement in 1Cor 2;12-14, coupled with that in Eph 1;17 & 18, i've explained the correct interpretation of those verses to you. if you think otherwise, that's your business.

Don't be silly, understanding th Bible has little to do with believeing it is inspired and infallible (which it isn't as a cursory read through the Bible and comparing it with reality should show).

sorry ma, i'm not being silly. i'm letting you know what you don't know.  even Jesus' disciples had to have their minds opened so they could understand the scriptures. Luke 24; 30,31 & 45. Again, 1Cor 2.12-14. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those (words) taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.

Yes, so exact that Muslims and Bahai followers can be sure the bible predicts their respective leaders.

misinterpreting the bible isn't new. the devil started it. you are in 'good' company. indeed, there is hardly anything that the bible can't be misinterpreted to teach. false teachers and heretics have done that time and again. if you bring me the verses that predict their leaders, i'd engage you with them.

flawed logic masquerading as sense. FYI, for a slave that prays to God, assumption being the one is a christian, he has no human enemies; his slave-master is not his enemy but rather his brother (Philemon verse 16). So your flawed logic goes down the drain from your first premise.

if it seems to be 'irrational' then its because the minds of the concerned are infantile and not able to grasp anything beyond their limited spectrum of intelligence. You can't expect a 2-yr old to understand the intricacies of quantum mechanics neither can you expect someone who is spiritually ignorant to grasp the awesomeness of the living God. You can't put God in a box, you can't dictate his attributes, you can't tell him what He should be or not be, He is God.
Jehovah is El- Shaddai, he is a multi-faceted, multi-dimensional, awesome God. Heb.12.29
But then, considering that these same people advocating this notion 'think' everything in creation (or rather, to be 'politically correct'; existence) is physical, that natural laws (wherever they came from) can't be broken, that humans descended from whatever, etc, its not surprising that such a God would be 'irrational'. And the 'irrational' thing is that every knee will bow to this 'irrational' GOd, till then, we'd keep talking.

i don't get you, what are you saying? we can't read books by christian authors? or what? Or that Hagin wasn't a christian? or that Jesus talked about women covering their hair?
