You are wrong you know. GEJ did not create corruption in Nigeria and he has tried in many aspects to curb this ugly trend like the 56,000 ghost workers he uprooted, the fertiliser scam that he stopped among other things. Please expect your disappointment come March 28 as GEJ would be returned as President.

Editor’s note: Ukraine-based Comrade Ahmed Omeiza Lukman writes an open letter to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, President Goodluck Jonathan, asking him to leave office honourably on the 29th of May 2015 as according to him, we have had enough of impunity, fake promises, insecurity, and unemployment that has become the trademark of the present administration.
Article highlights:
– Jonathan’s failure to meet our aspiration has become unbearable.

– Jonathan’s departure through the ballot box is almost a certainty.

– Rightly or wrongly, many people see Jonathan as the catalyst behind their success or failure.

Dear Mr President,
First, please pardon me Your Excellency for writing you at this tense political moment in our country history, a time when you have serious political campaigning to do.Obviously this is not the best time to write this kind of letters but I feel compelled to write after the postponement of the general elections and the backlash that followed.
Wherever I have travelled, be it in Africa or overseas, the first question people asked as soon as I have introduced myself as a Nigerian is, “How is corruption in Nigeria?” This is a question that always confuses me regarding what the various questioners really want to know about the country. It is also a question that often steals the limelight from me, as people seemingly want to know more about the level of corruption and insecurity in the country, rather than the huge potentials in country.

Politics / Re: OMG! Lagos To London Is 5,000km & Jonathan Has Built 25,000 Km Roads In Nigeria? by richardomoko: 12:02pm On Feb 16, 2015
Please can someone ask Gov Fashola to visit Benin city via Ore instead of going by flight. Also he should visit Abuja via Lokoja just to mention but a few. These same claims were made to discredit the government when APC claimed there were no modern rail systems yet in the country and yet Buhari was captured on camera using one to go for a campaign. We should give credit were it is due. To my knowledge this government has tried irrespective of what Gov Fashola chooses to believe.
harbdulrasaq88:
Re: Gov Fashola said:
“President Goodluck Jonathan said he constructed 25,000 kilometres roads in the country. Now, the distance from Lagos to London is just over 5,000km. What the claim by the President means is that they have constructed a road from Lagos to London five times. But the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that is 404km and has not been done. So where did they see the 25,000km roads?

How can anyone with access to Google believe such fib?
The Interstate Highway system that the United States of America(almost the size of a continent on its own) prides itself with is 76,000 kilometers and cost about $426 Billion in 2006 dollars when last valued—so who really can believe the Goodluck Jonathan Administration constructed 25,000 kilometers of road in 6 years at a running cost of almost a $100 billion in modern construction cost?..Who writes this script for this people?

My brother I just wonder.
udyheart01:
I still find it surprising that Buhari's wife could donate N137 million to internally displaced persons (IDP) in Adamawa, an action she has never done before.

I have spent over N3000 recharge cards calling people in Katsina State if she has ever donated
common mats to a mosque, but the answer remains No.

She has never given any financial help publicly that I know of, but all from the moon, she brings
out this evil donation. How did she get this money when her husband, Muhammadu Buhari
borrowed N27 million just to pick the APC presidential form?

This Greek gift is totally unacceptable, condemnable and not to be tolerated in our democracy. We should not encourage emergency donors who bring money during elections just to deceive the populace. She has her home state, where she could have made donations to, but she didn't, and went to faraway Adamawa to give.

This is hypocrisy taken too far, a faux and a big media goof. Whoever advised her in Buhari's
media team have only succeeded in taking away some integrity and current shine that Buhari
enjoys and I hope my friends in the media committee takes note. We cannot condemn the PDP, while APC scream hypocritical change to us. What manner of change is this? Charity begins at home and it must begin long before now.

Madam, your gift is not accepted even in heaven.

I visited Imo state in December and wherever I went the people where not happy with the Governor. The propaganda campaign he lunched such as this would not secure his re-election. From the feedback I gathered the people and mostly contractors claim that sub standard work was done in absolutely all the infrastructure and that he cunningly used contractors whom used their personal funds in doing most of these projects. They are being owed. The structures are already falling apart because of sub standard construction. Finally the truth resides with the people who claimed that even ikhedim's administration is better compared to this. The people would decide April 11 you watch and see.

A lot of hog wash underlined with obviously the influence of the brown envelope. If you weren't born then or knowledgeable as at the time please collect your brown envelope from Tinubu and recoil into where you came from. I was a teenager then and I remember vividly the brute force and hardships this govt caused a lot of us. The introduction of import license which was an avenue to create wealth for northerners, the lack of economical understanding which cased hyperinflation as we came to know of words such as essential commodities (milk, bread, sugar etc.) The govt was intolerant to criticism and opposition and jailed people indiscriminately. Buhari still has not change as the so called slogan indicates. Please there is no way you can see black and call it white even if you try as much to paint it so. Boko-hari can't win.

After all the denial by the APC that the railway system is comatose and that the govt of GEJ has done nothing in that regard. He don swallow pride come ride the train.
sugarboii:
PICTURES DON’T LIE: Buhari Rides in Jonathan’s Train for His Campaigns but he claims the President has achieved nothing!

For a long time, members of the All progressives Congress (APC) have desperately been claiming that the government of President Goodluck Jonathan has not achieved anything in the nearly six years it has been in office.

To replace him, they have projected serial presidential aspirant, General Mohammadu Buhari to replace him in the February 14 elections.

But it is interesting to note that Buhari and his team in APC have been able to travel to their campaign grounds in some parts of the country via the newly rehabilitated railway system which is initiatives of the Jonathan government.

Recall that the same rail transport system was destroyed and practically left for dead by General Buhari during his sojourn as military Head of State.

People are wont to ask: What if President Jonathan had not taken the bull by its horns to breathe life back into the rail system?

Would Buhari have been able to attend his rallies where he takes ample time to discredit the achievements of President Jonathan?
While commissioning new trains last year, The president had lamented the total neglect of such a critical system of transport by successive governments. Although he did not mention names, every Nigerian knows it was Buhari’s government that destroyed the Nigerian Railway Corporation between 1984 and 1985.

Speaking during that ceremony, President Jonathan has promised that “The step is aimed at resuscitating and revitalising Nigerian railway which had suffered neglect for decades.”

That decade began when Buhari was in power.

But strangely, the same Buhari is riding on one of those trains to campaign for election to replace the same man who had brought the trains back to life after he had sent them to the gallows.

Politics / Re: Presidential Polls: Buhari To Be Served With Fresh Disqualification Note by richardomoko: 8:58am On Feb 03, 2015
How come INEC has been allowing Buhari to run all this while without the proper documentation? A lot of questions to be answered.
9jagistonline:
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, yesterday, fixed February 9 to hear a fresh suit seeking to disqualify the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), from contesting the forthcoming presidential election.

In a ruling yesterday, Justice Ademola Adeniyi directed that copies of the suit be served on Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, who were cited in the matter as 1st and 2nd defendants, respectively, to enable them appear in court on that date.

The court specifically directed that the APC presidential flag-bearer should be served by substituted means, to wit: by publication of the originating summons against him in three national dailies.

The action was filed on behalf of a legal practitioner, Mr. Max Ozoaka, by a consortium of lawyers led by four Senior Advocates of Nigeria: Ade Okeaya-Inneh, Ken Njemanze, Prof. Tony Ijohor and Chief Godwin Obla.

Following an ex-parte application they moved in court yesterday, Justice Adeniyi also abridged the time within which the matter should be heard and determined.

The court said its decision to abridge the time within which the defendants could enter their appearances was due to the fact that the presidential poll is already in view.

Meantime, the plaintiff is among other things, praying the court for a declaration that the 1st defendant, Buhari, is not eligible to participate in the 2015 presidential election for failure to comply with the terms for submission of list of candidate and affidavit of personal particulars of persons seeking election to the office of President.

He is also seeking an order of court declaring as invalid the INEC Form C.F. 001 as filled and submitted by Buhari “as being inchoate and manifestly in contravention of the provisions of the Electoral Act.”

The plaintiff is contending that Buhari’s failure/refusal to attach evidence of his birth certificate and educational qualifications, “which are conditions inherent/ precedent as prescribed in the form,” was in breach of relevant laws in Nigeria pertaining to presidential election.

Consequently, he prayed the court not to only declare the Form CF. 001 that was submitted to INEC by Buhari for the 2015 presidential election as incompetent, but to also declare that the voters card that was attached to the form was false on the ground that as at when the voters card was issued, the 1st defendant was not a “public servant” as he allegedly stated.

“An order declaring the said voters card as void for containing false information about the identity/occupation of the 1st defendant.

“An order disqualifying the 1st defendant from contesting and/or participating in the Presidential election fixed for February 14, 2015 or any date that the 2nd defendant may fix on the ground that the information contained in the 1stbdefendant’s INEC Form CF. 001 is false.

“An order restraining the 2nd defendant from permitting the 1st defendant from participating in the Presidential election fixed for February 14, 2015 or any other date that the 2nd defendant may fix.”

This dodo no get sense. Okponu after u go claim say GEJ na weakling. Popular in the eastern part of Nigeria during festivals you have a situation where the smaller masquerades come out to dance and display but when it is the turn of the bigger masquerade to show, the smaller ones scamper for cover and hide themselves else!
Monimatic:
The Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has said that contrary to President Goodluck Jonathan’s claim, the President is not interested in a free and fair election.

Amaechi, who was reacting to soldiers’ occupation of the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium ahead of the Jonathan’s political campaign in the state on Wednesday, said the action of the President was an indication that he (Jonathan) was opposed to democratic norms.

The governor, who spoke in Government House in Port Harcourt on Sunday, explained that it was wrong for President Jonathan to order soldiers to take over the state-owned stadium, even when approval was not given by the state government.

He argued that a President should have respected the position of the state government in an ideal federation, particularly after telling the Peoples Democratic Party to use the Liberation Stadium.

Amaechi said, “Why is the President insisting on using the Adokiye Amiesamaka Stadium after we have told the PDP that work is currently going on there? It is unfortunate that the President is preaching one thing and doing another thing.

“If the President is truly interested in the conduct of a free and fair election, why did he order armed soldiers to forcefully take over a state government-owned facility when it was not given to him or the PDP?

“Why should a President elected in a democratic election, serving under a democratic dispensation order soldiers to take over a state-owned stadium? In an ideal federation, the President is supposed to respect our position, essentially after we asked them to use the Liberation Stadium at Elekahia, in Port Harcourt City.”

In a related development, the state PDP Chairman, Mr. Felix Obuah, confirmed the party’s readiness to use the Adokiye Amiesamaka Stadium on Wednesday.

Obuah said in a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Media, Mr. Jerry Needam, that the reason given by Amaechi on why he refused the party’s request to use the stadium was unacceptable.

The state PDP chairman argued that the stadium was built with state funds, maintaining that the facility was only conceptualised when Amaechi was a member of the PDP.

He, however, challenged the governor to name any capital project that he implemented since he defected to the APC in November 2013.

Obuah told members and supporters of the PDP to turn out in their large number to welcome the presidential campaign train in continuation of President Jonathan’s bid to earn a second term.

Let them read this especially those apologist called APC supporters. Make your campaign promises based on naira and kobo not on empty promises just because you want to occupy an office. Take lessens from Papa Awolowo the best President Nigeria never had.
kayce911:
need to preface this article with a few clarifications. I have taken a long sabbatical leave from partisan politics, and it is real fun watching the drama from the balcony.  Having had my own share of public service (I do not need a job from government), I now devote my time and energy in pursuit of other passions, especially abroad. A few days ago, I read an article in Thisday entitled “Where is Charles Soludo?”, and my answer is that I am still there, only that I have been too busy with extensive international travels to participate in or comment on our national politics and economy. But I occasionally follow events at home. Since the survival and prosperity of Nigeria are at stake, the least some of us (albeit, non-partisan) must do is to engage in public debate. As the elections approach, I owe a duty to share some of my concerns.
In September 2010, I wrote a piece entitled “2011 Elections: Let the Real Debate Begin” and published by Thisday. I understand the Federal Executive Council discussed it, and the Minister of Information rained personal attacks on me during the press briefing. I noted more than six newspaper editorials in support of the issues we raised. Beside other issues we raised, our main thesis was that the macro economy was dangerously adrift, with little self-insurance mechanisms (and a prediction that if oil prices fell below $40, many state governments would not be able to pay salaries). I gave a subtle hint at easy money and exchange rate depreciations because I did not want to panic the market with a strong statement. Sadly, on the eve of the next elections, literally everything we hinted at has happened.  Part of my motivation for this article is that five years after, the real debate is still not happening.
The presidential election next month will be won by either Buhari or Jonathan. For either, it is likely to be a pyrrhic victory. None of them will be able to deliver on the fantastic promises being made on the economy, and if oil prices remain below $60, I see very difficult months ahead, with possible heady collisions with labour, civil society, and indeed the citizenry. To be sure, the presidential election will not be decided by the quality of ‘issues’ or promises canvassed by the candidates. The debates won’t also change much (except if there is a major gaffe by either candidate like Tofa did in the debate with Abiola). My take is that more than 95% of the likely voters have pretty much made up their minds based largely on other considerations. A few of us remain undecided. During my brief visit to Nigeria, I watched some of the campaign rallies on television. The tragedy of the current electioneering campaigns is that both parties are missing the golden opportunity to sensitize the citizenry about the enormous challenges ahead and hence mobilize them for the inevitable sacrifices they would be called upon to make soon. Each is promising an El-Dorado.
Let me admit that the two main parties talk around the major development challenges—corruption, insecurity, economy (unemployment/poverty, power, infrastructure, etc) health, education, etc. However, it is my considered view that none of them has any credible agenda to deal with the issues, especially within the context of the evolving global economy and Nigeria’s broken public finance. The UK Conservative Party’s manifesto for the last election proudly announced that all its programmes were fully costed and were therefore implementable. Neither APC nor PDP can make a similar claim.  A plan without the dollar or Naira signs to it is nothing but a wish-list. They are not telling us how much each of their promises will cost and where they will get the money. None talks about the broken or near bankrupt public finance and the strategy to fix it.
In response to the question of where the money will come from, I heard one of the politicians say that the problem of Nigeria was not money but the management of resources. This is half-truth. The problem is both. No matter how efficient a father (with a monthly salary of N50,000) is at managing the family resources, I cannot see how he could deliver on a promise to buy a brand new Peugeot 406 for each of his three children in a year.  Even with all the loopholes and waste closed, with increased efficiency per dollar spent, there is still a binding budget constraint. To deliver an efficient national transport infrastructure alone will still cost tens of billions of dollars per annum even by corruption-free, cost-effective means.  Did I hear that APC promises a welfare system that will pay between N5,000 and N10,000 per month to the poorest 25 million Nigerians?  Just this programme alone will cost between N1.5 and N3 trillion per annum. Add to this the cost of free primary education plus free meal (to be funded by the federal budget or would it force non-APC state governments to implement the same?), plus some millions of public housing, etc.
I have tried to cost some of the promises by both the APC and the PDP, given alternative scenarios for public finance and the numbers don’t add up.  Nigerians would be glad to know how both parties would fund their programmes.  Do they intend to accentuate the huge public debt, or raise taxes on the soon to-be-beleaguered private businesses, or massively devalue the naira to rake in baskets of naira from the dwindling oil revenue, or embark on huge fiscal retrenchment with the sack of labour and abandonment of projects, and which areas of waste do they intend to close and how much do they estimate to rake in from them, etc?  I remember that Chief Obafemi Awolowo was asked similar questions in 1978 and 1979 about his promises of free education and free medical services. Even as a teenager, I was impressed by how he reeled out  figures about the amounts he would save from various ‘waste’ including the tea/coffee served in government offices. The point is that at least he did his homework and had his numbers and I give credit to his team. Some 36 years later, the quality of political debate and discourse seems to border on the pedestrian. From the quality of its team, I did not expect much from the current government, but I must confess that I expected APC as a party aspiring to take over from PDP to come up with a knock-out punch. Evidently, from what we have read from the various versions of its manifesto as well as the depth of promises being made, it does not seem that it has a better offer.

Captain okpoko u mean defender of islamic state. Are u sure he doesn't have links to boko haram that's why they wanted him to be their mouth piece, else it's the smartest way to fully islamize Nigeria. That maybe the reason they erroneously truncated the musli-muslim ticket without knowing that they had exposed their game plan.

You are just deceiving yourself. What the picture shows is that Tinubu does not trust Buhari to act alone. In a meeting the US secretary is supposed to have with the President of Nigeria GEJ and a pretender Buhari. Tinubu has to make sure he teleguides Buhari on what and how to say it. ote author=jaybe post=30128945]

You are just realizing? welcome!

The whole sane world is tired of GEJ phd(otuoke), clueless. He is an embarrassment of the highest order to humanity in general, and leadership in particular, and PHD holders in intellectualism.

Its a pity we have a deliberately confused and ignorant people who have willfully decided to ignore reality and are blindly following the corrupt beneficiaries of the gej government, for different parochial reasons (such as religion, ethnicity, regionalism, political party, ...) in shouting gej, gej. and shouting buhari this, buhari that, without checking the facts on ground.

any person, organization, nation, country, that supports Buhari for the presidency today actually loves Nigeria, and loves the progress of Nigerians. USA is among and they don't disguise it.

Who is the APC presidential candidate here?you can see that the Godfather of the APC does not Buhari to act alone in a meeting supposedly between the US secretary of state and the President of Nigeria and a pretender.

Politics / Nigerians: Please Think Reasonably Before Casting That Vote by richardomoko: 10:44am On Jan 25, 2015
Before you decide which party to give your vote to do you want this to happen to your dear beloved nation:
1. One individual decides who becomes what at any given time and whatever the political appointee decides to do must be consulted and approved him before action is taken. This has been the modus operandi in the APC and GMB got a taste of this bitter pill when he could not immediately announce his choice for VP.
2. All appointees especially the governors have a target of billions of naira monthly to enrich his proxy company's especially through taxation matters and hence over tax it's citizens in the guise of generating IGR.
3. The illegal and indiscriminate mounting of toll gates around the states making it difficult and expensive for people to make simple transactions. Voting the APC would return us to the era where we had toll gates all over the place and yet our roads are a death traps. More worrisome is that these current tolls being collected especially in Lagos is going into the private pocket of the so called leader via his proxy companies.
4. We would wake up one day and find out that the whole of Abuja and other prime locations has been illegally acquired by the so called APC leader using proxies as frodnts just as he has done in Lekki Ibeju in Lagos state illegally taking land from people and their rightful ancestral homes. He currently has over 36 different estates in Ibeju Lekki using various companies as fronts some of this matter currently is in the courts because these fronts had the effontry to destroy buildings and structures of various individuals especially in Lakwe.
5. Nobody dare to challenge his decisions and choices of candidates except for the brave governor Fashola of Lagos state in which doing so almost cost him a chance to run for second term, however so his popularity and achievements made him to remain the only sensable choice for the party at the time.
Nigerians I can continue with other things you can chew on before casting your votes like drug taking, cult involvement which to me is not the matter at hand as I don't know if the people who accused him verified their sources before making such allegations. But we are not blind and novices as to allow one individual pocket our collective destinies as a nation. Moreso, where he has polished and packaged a known dictator to enable him accomplish his aims. "Leopards they say do not change their spots" as such let us think again before casting that vote. [s][/s]
