RomanceRe: ~tears ~of~a~friend ~true Life Story~ by richeyy(m): 4:53pm On Aug 03, 2012
Coolval222: *continues* val's story

i{val} saw uche at the school cafe and i went to greet him, i was with my course mate mike that tuesday afternoon, but the look in uches face told me that all was not well so we had to sit by his side while he opened his heart and told us his whole story from the beginning, i really felt for him and told him that i am also passing through the same crisis with christy{details in diary of imostar/sexuality}, uche replied "they keep hurting us yet we cant still let them to go" mike smiled and said that his own is even worst and we all opened our ears as he told us his story
mikes story;
i had a girlfriend since my secondary school days and everyone in my village has known both of us, even my parents knew her as my friend, i had been sending her some of my savings since i entered the university and even assisted her in buying her jamb form last year. I do anything she asks of me, but just two months after getting admission she started playing me and going out with different guys yet i always forgive her at the end. Until one day when she came to my house and told me that she is moving on, that we are not compatible, i tried to beg her but she was adamant, so i then reminded her of all the things i had being doing for her in which she immediately flared up and asked me whether i was not sleeping with her, at the end we got into a fight in which i beat her up and she left only for a guy to call me that night threatning to deal with me, and till now i have not seen her again.
After listening to mikes story, we knew that we are not alone in this and how are we going to survive this calamity befalling us we wondered as we looked at each other.
To be continued...
@op Is this one suspense or what? why are u wasting tym na? Continue ur story sharp sharp... grin grin

Omo Alata: This story is not unique, unfortunately. In the 60s a lot of women followed their men to the UK, worked day and night to sponsor their education etc (the arrangement being that once the man graduated and got a job, he would start working and the woman would start her own education). Anyway, mostly, once the man graduated, he would convince the woman that they should return to Nigeria and settle down there. The woman would pack up, move back to Naija, the man would get a lucrative job with his 'pali' from the UK, the woman would be relegated to a housewife or some lowly job, the man would one day 'wake up' and say, "sorry, you are not my category. I need to marry a graduate" and pack madam's load out.

There's lots of curses on some people's heads, no be small. God help us shocked

(forgive any grammatical error in advance wink)
Hmmm...I'm just hearing/reading this for the first time o! Source please...

We all know that bball is an American thing just like soccer is an European thing & bombing is a bok.o thing cheesy. ‎I'm sure that a college team in d US will still beat Team Nigeria though with a lesser margin. Lesson learnt: our players were not as experienced as Team USA. Secondly, our defense was weak. Moving Forward, We need to develop our local bball league & as a matter of fact, introduce bball as an extra-curricular ryt from our primary schools.

Atleast he knws she is nt promiscious bt he should try and find out her reasons before concluding
I totally agree with you. Girls like that are for keeps. @Op, Question is: will you cheat on her when you eventually marry her?

It’s not easy anywhr & it takes d grace of God 2 succeed in any venture even wt a lesser amount. Besyds, 15 years is a long tym & I’m sure u’ve lost touch of d Nigerian business environment. Reselling fairly used bb’s & ipads may seem easy but truth is, d computer village I knw is crowded & competition is stiff. Take ur tym & do ur homework very wel b4 thinking of coming back. I’ll advise u get some marketable skills & explore other avenues if ur warehousing thing ain’t paying. By d wat, wts stopping u 4rm gettn dt postgrad degree? Its nvr too l8 to get it & dt may b wts holding ur shine. #JesThinking. Finally, seek God & ur situation wil change even in d UK. Best wishes
RomanceRe: Wanted To Marry Her But Found Out She Is Older by richeyy(m): 9:30am On Jul 13, 2012
Why did you approach and propose to her in the first place? If your love is genuine, a 2 years gap in age should not be an issue. Love and understanding is what counts! As it is now, I don't mind get married to a 70 year old lady from Jupiter. Lolzz

justwise: How about the remaining school fees? £3000 is just the deposit.
Yes Justwise! The remaining balance is about £6,000 and I know I'll have to add it to the £7,200 for visa purposes. I want to know if BHC sees the £7,200 MF as provision for airfares.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by richeyy(m): 11:45am On Jun 16, 2012
God bless you Justwise.

I have a conditional offer (IELTS & £3,000 minimum deposit) from RGU. I have my minimum deposit with me & will be writing the IELTS month's end. Apart from the £7,200 for maintenance, do I need to show BHC any money for airfares?

CareerRe: Surveyors, Builders, Architects & Estate Mgrs' Corner (Aspirants & Professionals) by richeyy(m):
Hello Peeps! Nice thread.

I studied Building at Unizik, graduated in 2009, currently working as an Asst. Project Manager with PM firm in Lagos. Shuttle between Lagos & PH for projects. Working on my PMI cert & thinking of going for my MSc. in Construction Project Management with a research interest in Construction Informatics like the Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Interoperablity (I actually brushed on this during my undergrad thesis).

Anybody with useful info on BIM adoption in Africa and other developing economies? I know South Africa is adopting it but its still on a low key, how about Construction firms in Naija? Have you started using BIM in your projects?

Cheers!
CareerRe: Any Hope For Fresh Graduates With Bsc Building In Nigeria by richeyy(m): 9:25am On May 26, 2012
Of course! One thing you must realize is that you are involved in the provision of a basic need of man, shelter! So the world cannot do without you. Have that pride in you.

The building profession is so wide and it provides many opportunities for building graduates. As a fresh graduate, you may want to build on technical, site management, construction and project management skills. You may also want to venture into specialised services like interior designing, building finishing & fit outs, curtain walling/space partitioning.., the choice is yours.

Finally and depending on your experience, I'll advise you to go for professional project management courses like the PMI's CAPM or PMP. I also studied Building, Cheers!
CareerRe: A B.tech In Project Management, What Next? Advice Needed by richeyy(m): 2:27pm On May 22, 2012
Project Management cuts across many disciplines: architecture, construction, engineering (MEP), Supply Chain, Aerospace, manufacturing, computer networking, ICT, software development, financial institutions... I'll advise that you get some experience or technical training in a particular field before undertaking postgraduate studies. A former colleague also had a BTech in Project Management from FUTO Owerri. She worked briefly as an assistant construction project manager with a project management firm in Lagos and she's now studying for her MSc. in Construction and Project Management in the UK.
