PoliticsRe: Manslaughter Case: Ibinabo Sent To Kirikiri by Riskie(f): 10:11pm On Mar 31, 2009
If this was a normal accident in which she just happened to hit someone while driving, I would understand people saying the sentence was harsh. But considering that she was intoxicated, she fully deserves what she is getting and then some. Why should someone who knowingly drank to the point of being out of control of her senses be allowed to go with a measly fine. Rubbish. The girl is a fool and a bad actress to boot!  angry angry angry
FashionRe: Your Experiences With Various Hair Products. by Riskie(f): 4:14pm On Mar 31, 2009
Please don't use pink lotion. It contains mineral oil which clogs the pores, hindering hair growth and scalp health. It is best to avoid all products that have mineral oil. Sometimes in the ingredients it is listed as paraffinium liquidum or petroleum. It's still the same disastrous chemical. It is best to use a moisturizer that is water based not oil based.
Creme of Nature makes great sulfate free shampoos. Oyin Handmade products are also good and safe to use on the hair. And so is Carol's Daughter. Some of the best hair care things I have used are things I make in my own kitchen like coconut milk, coconut oil and honey as a deep conditioner. Some homemade products work better than store bought items.

@ Sean, you don't want to use a hair lotion like Olive Oil to flat iron. You will kill your hair lol. This is great for moisture and that's it. The best thing to use for flat ironing is a hair serum and Organic Root Stimulator, the maker of the lotion you like makes a wonderful one. Try a serum, you will even see the difference in how much better you hair straightens after flat ironing. smiley

Huh, are you serious? I'm guessing you haven't seen your fellow Christian brothers and sisters wearing shirts that say "jesus is my homeboy" or "mary is my homegirl". It just means I'm 'cool' with Jesus. So because I'm not Christian I don't have the right to express my feelings for Jesus undecided I'm not looking for trouble, but it seems that you are. angry

U don't have to all cut your hair at once. You can just let it grow and cut the chemically treated ends little by little until they are l gone.

No the water has to be hot.
FashionRe: Hair! How To Detangle The Wig by Riskie(f): 7:32pm On Mar 10, 2009
I'm guessing it is synthetic since it's all tangled. In that case boil some water, let it cool but still be hot. Then dip the wig in it. Swirl it around a bit or u can let it sit for a couple minutes if you want. Then brush it out. While it's still wet, roller set it and let it dry completely before removing the rollers. It should be back to normal. wink

As-salam alaikum brothers and sisters! Blessings of Friday be upon us all.

@Mukina today's lecture was also about patience (subr). I really needed that because I've been quite impatient lately with so many things. One new thing I learned today is that the saying "ina lillah wa ina ileyhi rajiun" is not only for when someone dies. Whenever we are having difficulty and feel we are getting impatient it is good to say this. We must remember that all things come from Allah and acknowledge that fact.
May Allah guide us all and make us patient through all tests in life.

IslamRe: Barka Juma'ah by Riskie(f): 5:49pm On Feb 13, 2009
As-salam alaikum brothers and sisters!Another great Jummah today. The lecture was about mercy and Islam's holistic approach to it. The prophet encourages Muslims to have mercy on children and orphans especially. A kind word to an orphan is considered a very great deed. Taking advantage of an orphan or stealing their inheritance is considered one of the 7 worst sins. Simply running your hands through the hair of an orphan as a kind gesture will give a Muslim the reward equivalent to the number of hairs on the orphan's head.
Even in times of war Muslims are encouraged to show mercy. It is forbidden to harm women, children and the elderly during a war.In one surah (can't remember which lol) it is said that in times of war if the enemy seeks refuge give it to him and treat him kindly so that he may see the goodness of Islam.
We are also encouraged to have mercy on animals. It is forbidden to brand an animal or hit it on the face. It is also haram to hunt an animal for fun. If an animal is not being eaten or used for it's hide it should not be killed. And knives being used for slaughtering should not be used in front of the animal.
Islam encourages us to have mercy in everything we do in this life from our dealings with other people to how we treat animals.
Whosoever is kind and merciful, Allah will also be merciful to him on the day of Judgement.

IslamDoes Hijab Make Ppl Treat You Differently? by Riskie(op): 3:39pm On Feb 12, 2009
When I'm outside UAE I don't wear the hijab but I do dress decently.I recently started being fully hijabi. I wear the abayah and the sheila out in public. I started doing this because it feels more comfortable when I'm in certain places here.I noticed that in some places here when you don't wear full hijab the men (mostly Indians who are Hindu, surprisingly) will tease you or try to touch you or rub themselves against you. After I started wearing it I didn't notice this happen anymore. Men will also let you get in front of the line at stores or let you go in elevator first. The only problem is that it is boring to wear lol.I just wanted to know if any other Muslim women wear the full hijab and how do you feel about it? Do people treat you differently when you wear hijab as oppossed to when you don't? Does it make you feel more comfortable when you go to certain places? Also to the Muslim men do you treat a woman that wears hijab differently than a woman who doesn't?
