The ancient city of Benin where the King is truely king

The most feared and respected oba and kingdom in the whole of West Africa
The most advanced and organised kingdom
The Portuguese explorers marveled by the development of the Benin Empire! The thing shock them say as at the time they thought Africans were far away from civilization but how come the Binis were able to come up with the idea of linking and connecting the entire town to that ring road

Benin city for a reason....the only city well spelled on Nigeria map

Proud to be a Bini son

I hail you sir, even in Rivers State we claim to come from Benin and I believe it's true, very proud people we are.
Chai!! Benin culture sweet me die.

Naija is great. The whole world would begin to realise this the more, from next year. Vote wisely.

By the way, Nigerians are far behind other nationals of great nations in searching for new ideas. They prefer abusing their forefathers on nairaland with their time and data grin. I doubt many knew about this registration when it was thrown open. I posted useful pieces of information recently on how one could easily make it in life and become totally independent, all for free but only a few read about it. Here's the link...

https://www.nairaland.com/7465735/idea-tips-nigerian-youths-including

Another point to ponder on is Nigerian youths lack of interest in reading. Their reading habit is so shallow . I cited an example of myself, my uncle who is now a multi billionaire by reading a magazine in which xantrex engineering was advertised while in America on his way home from work one day and he later became their distributor. When some say they're looking for jobs or are not getting their bearings right I'd just read their comment and waka pass. When Buhari said our youths were lazy, I partially agreed. In 2018 on my way to US, I had a stop in DXB. When the boarding of our A380 flight was announced, I saw this skinning girl who approached me and asked that I take a picture of her, using her phone. From her accent I knew she's Nigerian. I asked her just to confirm and she said yes, she's from oshogbo, a 17 year old model. She said she's coming from Johannesburg, going to Paris for modelling, she had a stop too in dxb. Guess how she got to know about this foreign modelling opportunity? It was from a foreign modelling magazine. She applied and was selected and she embarked on her first trip ever overseas at age 16. She's been active in it since then. The modelling company came to Nigeria to meet with her parents after she was selected. Only a few applied from Nigeria. There was a scholarship which my neighbour also won on nursing. She went to school in America. She's now married and earning big.

I had a friend who applied to Total Energies Startupper challenge for young SMEs. He won the Best Business Creation Project, a few years ago in Paris and was awarded over 16m naira in euro equivalent to boost his start up business. Our youths need to change their mentality. Who says you can't make it? Just change your mentality and see yourself succeed. Stop wasting your data on frivolities. Time is precious.

Great man you are right, until I made Elon Musk my mentor, I never appreciated reading, when we take reading like how we take in oxygen believe me a lot will change. We keep pointing our fingers at politicians bit believe me, if we assimilate what they do not have time to assimilate in reading we will not sell our rights, our future and that of our unborn generation.

Why is there no risk of you donating billions to support the Africa you came from. That money Elon Must wasted to buy twitter should have been invested in infrastructure in Africa.

South Africans will be claiming Elon Must because he was born there but the guy has never contributed anything to South Africa.

Don't do this na please, God gave us the same brain na!! Please don't do that na please.
Let's make use of our brain and stop waiting on others people or white people to come to our rescue.
Elon Musk is a white man period.

This stone belongs to their ancestors and any king\queen that sits on the stone during inauguration is assumed to have taken over the powers of the ancestors or forebears, this people with their deception cheesy grin, this is a traditional\pagan practice, they want to try and hide the real reason for the action. Don't mind the language they have been employing to disguise all they have been doing since the queen passed on, I have compared some of their actions with what happens when a Benin Oba passes on and I have seen a lot of similarities just that the Binis and other African people are bold enough to call them by their actual names while this "oyibo people" disguise theirs cheesy cheesy grin

Help me tell them, I am a liberated African.

Politics / Re: "Igbo Are The Majority In Nigeria, They Cannot Leave"- Okorocha by ritvin(f): 5:46am On Nov 27, 2016
malton:
In "Why Nations Fail", Daron Acemoglu and James Robinson opined that:

States do not fail overnight. The seeds of their destruction are sown deep within their political institutions.

This holds true for Nigeria.

We, as a people, have been utterly unable to take advantage of our society’s huge potential for growth in spite of the numbers.

Our failure, like they alleged, is by design. This too, is true.

I will not stand here and pretend as if the Igbos will be less of a loss to Nigeria than say, the Yorubas, or even the oil rich Delta.

Truth is, those people have contributed to the growth of Nigeria in their own way. They are incredible!

But, we've let the politics separate us; allowed our differences to define us; and have allowed others tell our story for us.

In a nation as diverse as Nigeria, carrying everyone along is important. Unless we tell our leaders the truth, they will continue to come between. After all, the only language they understand is divide and rule.

We've fought battles we shouldn't have. We've won battles but watched others share the spoils.

The average Nigerian lives everyday believing that his next door neighbor is his problem. How untrue that is. We may insult the Igbos all we want - I do that a lot - for fun, actually - but, the truth remains - they are the piece that complete this puzzle.

Stupidity is when Mr. A will want you to believe that Mr. C is your problem... But, be doesn't see any wrong in reaching across to that same person he condemns. Some even go as far as marrying their offspring(s) off to their (your) supposed enemies.

Mr. Rochas, being a majority isn't any consolation. You should channel all that vigor into advising Mr. President on the right thing to do. Our leaders have failed because we have been sycophantic for far too long.

If you want them in Nigeria so badly, you've got to prove to them that they are highly valued, like the rest of the society.

I wouldn't advice my sister to continue in an abusive marriage; for better for worse. Karyan ciwo!

The solution to them staying or not rests squarely on your shoulders (the leaders).

As someone who understands the pareto principle owing to my privileged economics background, I believe that the 5% comment has to be the most reckless, divisive, and belittling sentence that I've heard a president (someone who ironically, should have been a unifying force instead) make.
a wise saying from a wise man
