The Presidency yesterday lampooned the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) and called on Nigerians to discountenance the leadership of the socio-cultural organization, who it said were merely shedding crocodile tears having lost grip on free resources of state.

The Presidency in a statement signed by Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, yesterday said it considers a communiqué issued by the “ethnic and sectional groups” who recently assembled in Abuja as selfish and only aimed at keeping Nigerians incensed.

The Presidency said it considers the communique as the shedding of crocodile tears by selfish leaders, who felt alienated after a transparent and accountable system halted their disproportionate survival on resources of the state.

Specifically, the communiqué issued by the leaders of the group had accused the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration of incompetence in handling the security situation in the country.

But the Presidency yesterday urged Nigerians to ignore the unholy alliance by these groups who it said are stepping up their assault on the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration, as it expands its national dominance and moves closer to securing an outright victory in the elections next year.

The Presidency said it notes with dismay that the refrain about President Buhari not doing anything about security in the country had turned into the number one fake news item being peddled in the media.

It referred all those it described as “the purveyors of falsehood” to a State House press release published a few days ago and signed by Special Adviser to the President, Femi Adesina, which clearly outlined the government’s major achievements and initiatives in tackling security challenges from January to July, 2018.

The press release which was titled: “Combating Insecurity in the Country: Lest We Forget – Presidency’’ listed out ongoing security operations: Nigerian Army’s Exercise Ayem Akpatuma covering Benue, Taraba, Kogi, Nasarawa, Kaduna and Niger States launched in February to tackle cases of kidnappings, herdsmen/farmers’ clashes, among others; Nigerian Air Force establishment of three new Quick Response Wings (QRW) in Taraba, Nasarawa and Benue States respectively, and deployment of Special Forces personnel.

The press release also noted President Buhari’s approval for the establishment of a new Battalion of the Nigerian Army, as well as a new Police Area Command, in Birnin Gwari Local Council in Kaduna State, as part of measures to scale up security in response to the banditry affecting the area.

“We advise Nigerians to read Adesina’s statement if they haven’t yet, or re-read it for better understanding of the efforts to ensure peace in the country.

“It is sad and misleading for anyone to say that President Buhari had not responded to the security challenges in the country.

“No one can honestly say that President Buhari is doing nothing about security.

It’s just a fake news item being peddled by selfish politicians with vested interests in keeping Nigerians incensed, and it risks being entrenched as reality if we don’t educate ourselves with the truth.”

Reacting, the Southern and Middle Belt leaders flayed President Buhari, saying, leaders and elders are shedding “crocodile” tears over daily killings under a President who said the Benue State governor should go and find accommodation with killers and that his security chiefs are still racking non-functioning brains after thousands have been killed in cold blood.

Spokesman of the forum, Yinka Odumakin, said the group placed more value to humanity than a government whose Defence Minister says herdsmen are killing because routes have been blocked.

The forum said history will give them better space than a presidential spokesman who is telling Nigerians “your land or your live.”

“This government is the most wicked, insensitive, unfeeling uncaring and non-respecter of human life in our history as a country.

“It is now clear that the death of 10 million Nigerians will not move this government because it has no compassion.”

Ekiti state governor-elect, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on Thursday presented his certificate of return to President Muhammadu Buhari.Fayemi, former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, was the candidate of the national ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the July 14 governorship election.

Prof. Idowu Olayinka, the Chief Returning Officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, said Fayemi polled 197,459 votes to emerge winner.

Olayinka made the declaration at the headquarters of Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) in Ado-Ekiti on July 15.According to the result, Fayemi defeated the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, who came second with 178,121 votes.

Other results declared by Olayinka were Accord, 250; Action Alliance, 41; ACD, 1149; AD, 216; ADB, 1082; ADA, 107; AGAO, 31; ANRP, 125; APA, 1199; and APDA, 464.

Also declared were APGA, 70; ANPP, 14; DA, 14; DPC, 147; DPP,181; FJP, 42; GPN, 20; I.D, 31;, KOWA, 23; LP, 280; MMN, 35; MPN, 23; NDLP, 44; NPC, 353 PANDEL, 74; and PGC, 1242.

The rest are DPA, 632; PPN, 107; SDO, 367; UDP, 29; UPN, 33; YDP, 31 and YPP, 49.Olayinka said the total valid votes in the election was 384,594 while total votes cast was 403,451, with 18,857 votes invalidated.

Fayemi is expected to take over from the incumbent, Mr Ayo Fayose, on Oct. 16, 2018.

An official of the Alliance for Credible Elections, Dr Omilusi Mike, commended the massive turnout of voters for Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti and the transparency of the electoral process.

” I want to sincerely commend the turnout of the people from across the nooks and crannies of Ekiti to vote for their chosen candidate.

” The determination displayed by the people on Saturday was unprecedented and unbelievable.

” I saw the number of people coming out from their villages and homes, contrary to the rumour of riot and crisis being spread across the state a few days to the election.

” It is obvious that the wishes of the people have prevailed especially at a critical period in Ekiti,” he said.

INEC issued the certificate of return to Fayemi early in the week.

Miss Lang’ata Women Prison winner RuthKamande, has been sentenced to death.

This is after kamande was found guilty of stabbing her boyfriend 22 times in 2015.



In May, the court found Kamande guilty of killing her boyfriend. The accused made headlines in 2016 after winning the Miss Lanagata prison beauty pageant.

According to submissions made in court, Kamande stabbed her boyfriend following a domestic dispute sparked by a revelation that he had been taking HIV suppressing drugs without her knowledge.

Kamande said Mohammed had threatened her when she confronted him.

According to a report by The Guardian, the management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has threatened to involve the police to compel Miss Joy Nwanna, the victim in the alleged case of s*xual harassment involving one of its lecturers to appear before the investigation committee and substantiate her allegations.


Nwanna had accused a Professor of Linguistics at the institution’s Department of English, Prof. Segun Awonusi of sexually harassing her.
The vice chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe who disclosed this at a briefing gave the identity of the accuser as Miss Joy Nwanna, a former student of the English Department who was enrolled to 200 level through direct entry during 2012/2013 academic session and graduated in 2016.


Prof Ogundipe also appealed to the publisher of ‘Linda Ikeji Blog’, the website that published the semi-nude pictures of the accused to help the university in its investigative efforts by supplying relevant information in her disposal about the source of the news. Already, the vice chancellor said all efforts by the committee to reach Miss Nwanna has failed as all her contact phone numbers obtained from her records were not going through.


Ogundipe said the embattled lecturer had appeared twice before the five-man panel headed by a former Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Chioma Agonmo and had replied his query in writing.
He said; “The panel conducted its investigations and recently submitted its report. Preliminary findings showed that the allegation of sexual harassment was not substantiated by the alleged victim or any other person.


“The preliminary investigations have raised certain questions and issues that need to be investigated further. Investigations are ongoing. The university is making efforts to confirm the authenticity or otherwise of the pictures that were released. We also require Miss Joy Nwanna to come forward to substantiate the allegations.


“To this end, the press and general public are urged to assist the university by impressing it upon the alleged victim to come forward and substantiate her claim. An appeal is also made to Linda Ikeji to convince the victim to appear before the panel and state her side of the story. Ikeji as an alumnus of the university has the right to help in the investigation because the image of the institution is affected.”

A beautiful 23 year old lady has committed suicide by hanging herself in front of her daughter.
This happened after an argument she had with her boyfriend about him going on a “boys’ night out.”
Agnieszka Giza, a mum of one had wanted to attend a concert with partner Marek Goralczyk but he left her at home in Cheshire with their three-year-old daughter when he discovered women were not invited to the event.
An inquest heard that the couple exchanged angry messages on WhatsApp, as the girlfriend suspected he was with another woman and demanded he come home.
It was also reported that things became worst after the battery in Marek’s phone ran out and he slept over at a pal’s house.
The next day, Ms. Giza was found hanged in her home by workmen who came to repair a patio door with her daughter crying next to her body.
In a heartbreaking statement, Mr. Goralczk told the Cheshire coroner’s hearing in Warrington: “Agnieszka wanted to go and the other boys were not taking their girlfriends, so I told her that I was going by myself.
”In hindsight, she might have thought I was cheating on her. She WhatsApp-ed me but then my phone died.”
He added: “I drank around six red bulls and then left. I went to a friend’s house and fell asleep.

Govenor Okorocha also extended another N2 million Cash donation to Miss Nina Chinonso who participated in the event. Both Igbokwe and Nina are indigenes of Imo State from Owerri North LGA.
Okorocha who made the donations when Igbokwe and Nina visited him at the Government House Owerri on Thursday, May 3, 2018, pointed out that Mr. Igbokwe has made the State proud by emerging the winner of the show.

According to Igbokwe, “I am excited about our governor because of his educational strides, especially his free education in Imo State. This is a great gift to humanity”.
He said he would see to the collaboration of the State government towards the establishment of the Pilot College in the State, to further open the state to the world, adding that his vision is to expand the aircraft simulation centre to a world class Aviation College.

Nigerian singer, Timaya has said that even as a baby daddy, he is still a better father to his kids than many husbands are to their children.
In a recent chat with Saturday Beats, the ace entertainer who has 3 children from two women, said,
“People fail to understand that a lot of baby daddies are better fathers than a lot of husbands.
The kind of role I play in my children’s life, I don’t think some husbands do that. I have time for my children, I love my children but some married men don’t even have time for their kids.
They don’t show their kids love, they don’t know what it means to be a father. It doesn’t have anything to do with money; it’s about love and attention. Even my daughter sometimes wonders why I make babies if I was not ready to get married yet but I tell her that if I don’t make babies then she won’t be born.
