good, if your water mgt is ok & no disease,u might not need any salting, for d feeds,depends on u,though i dont like durante because it pollutes water easily(apology to that coy), d feel is ok sha

My Oga, well said. I wanted to expand oo but couldn't get a fish farm to rent. Buying land and construction is quite expensive and I can't afford that for now. Am operating at full capacity at my present location hence need to expand. I even have reservation on birds........plenty vaccines and medications,marketing etc. The medications you give birds can cure HIV

I would have prefered fish anyway

so far in this forum, i have learnt the dept of a standard pond shld be btw 4 to 6 feet, bt 2day, i saw a pond of dept of 8feet. The lenght shld be abt 15ft. Do you think this shld.have adverse effect on the fish? The owner changes the water 3 times in 3 months and he is making good profit on the fish.

Great buy it seems but not really.....
7500kg fish per month means roughly 1.5m Naira a month profit
ROI Should be 20 year consider maintenance. ... on a second though 20 years return is too much for a goos investment. .... if 8 years, might be considerable.

House pls note that Mr Robonski is d reason why I haven't started my fish farm! Since Feb I pleaded for it n he has bn telling me he is too busy to send it but I read him telling others to check their email n see theirs dat he has sent , I have even begged he shld forward d one he has already done for someone else den I can rewrite d quantity til today no word. I have called him whatsapped , text , emailed n at each occasion he wil post me , I waited to get frm him cos he is well grounded in d knowledge n as someone who has long years of practice nt jst book fishman. @ Fhemmmy i think the standard is usually 10 by 10 feet which should be able to raise 1000 to table size, however, i am not too stuck up on calculation and sizes, but by now every serious non greedy farmer should have the awareness of the fact that overstocking is not ideal, i for one i just make sure a pond is not over stock as this can inhibit their growth and freedom.

As you can see from mine its not the usual 10 by 10 but i am aware of what the standard is and able to use that as a yardstick to make sure the fishes have got enough room to swim around, play and grow.
I think it is also worth noting that although we say 10 by 10 should be stock with at least 1000 but by the time you start sorting them into sizes you may end up with less than the 1000 in a pond due to moving some into a separate pond as a result of their new sizes, that's why it is advisable to have spare capacity to cater for things like
sorting
pond leakages and repairs
disease outbreak and quarantine etc
By the grace of God i have capacity for more ponds to be constructed but i need to test the market and make sure expansion is being driven by demand.
