Honestly I don't know how to recognise a fake coppens maybe beacuse I don't use it anymore... Some years back I once bought a fake of it that cost me my entire juvenile.. Its preferable u buy from a distributor directly than sublets..

0.3 is the deadliest feed if u don't use it with caution.. Its high in fibre which results in its spreading rapidly in the pond which pollutes the water which reduces dissolve oxygen... U have to be very careful when feeding with 0.3 give them a little at intervals.. Feed the fish not the pond..

yemiakeem: D major problm is nt buyin 4rm hatchers. wen u buy 4rm hatchers nt agents u're sure u'r nt buyin runts. n i dnt tink any hatcher wl sel runts 2 any farmer wen his reputatn is at stake

Some useless hatchers also sell runts, years back I bought runts unknowingly from a hatcher, Not once or twice but later on I got to realise it and I lost heavily.. But today he is no longer in business.. One thing they don't realise is that when u keeping selling runts and the farmer keeps feeding and loosing he will surely go somewhere else and the hatcher tends to loose his customers gradually till he folds up.. I have even seen some hatchery presently using fishes of 0.5 grms both male and female for spawning..

Like I said earlier on u have to know the hatchery.. Go to their farms and see for urself... Also u have to still use ur discretion to still identify the runts.. I can identify runts just by looking at the fishes inside water maybe because I am into hatching..

A fish farmer contacted me some months back pleading just to see me..I gave him an appointment and when I met with him he complained bitterly about all he has gone through in fish farming.. I felt pity for him coz I could feel his pains.. Luckily for him I had done some hatching with first class shooters still intact, I gave him a thousand first class shooters for free and some tips on management...

5 months later when he harvested none of the fishes were below 1.5 kg he made profit for the first time since he started fish farming.. He brought the biggest fish of them all to my farm as appreciation...

I guess all these agents and hatchers that sells runts will be exposed with time..

My ex ebira girl used the stick used in turning garri to slash my eyes it bruised my eyebrow.. Mehn blood was gushing out like tap water, I was in pains and she was no where to be found I hurriedly tied my fore head and went to a near by hospital and it was stiched..

The next day she packed all her ebira friends to beg me they were all kneeling down begging me that it was the devil, my best friend begged on her behalf.. Well the next one she did almost cost me my life... I fear who no fear ebira girls oo..

About the hatching keep it up, change their water regularly by flow thru.. And you know its the second and third week they are more susceptible so extra care must the given... Keep updating the house... Thanks

All the breeds are good, it depends on your managements practices, there is nothing to distinguish abt the the breed.. What you have to distinguish is the runts because buying them unknowingly will be fatal..

The 2nd one, they bought a certain type of breed called '' Mozambique''. A friend told them it was a good product, it was 2000 stocks. After trainin 4 about 3 months, they sold and made huge losses, i think close to 200k and only recoverd abt 80k, the company to them to pay the 80k to them, dat they would either refund the 2000 stocks plus cost of feeding 4 one mnth or 4000 stocks plus feeding 4 2mnths.It's bin more than a mnth now,no reply. Anyways wat rili went wrong. This whole issue jux rili scares me abt fish farming.

U shouldn't be scared about fish farming... Like I have been saying, fish business is a money draining business when u don't have the technical know how... I have never heard of the breed called "mozambique" before.. I guess ur sister didn't have any knowledge what's so ever abt the business before plunging into it.

I always feel bad when I hear stories like this.. Please kindly introduce them to this thread to get knowledge..

It depends on what u have on ground.. In investing on catfish business u must first aqcuire a land, sink a borehole, build the ponds etc.. Also it depends on what u want to major in like, fingerling/juvenile production,melange, table size or even brood stock..
