UnclePati:I believe we can make our points without resorting to insults. - I did not say you said Zenith bank was NIMC. -I made that point to establish the fact that this is an NIMC operation , a registration point somewhere in a bank (not even their state office) cannot controvert what obtains at NIMC HQ in ABUJA except that registration point has more Powers than the HQ or there is something wrong with the HQ. -Also the fact that a staff of Zenith Bank has been trained to handle NIMC job function does not automatically confer on them the authority or means to edit date of Birth and even if they had such powers which I doubt they have, they have not yet been deployed so as it is now the status quo remains. However if Zenith staff can have such powers then the NIMC staff at the Zenith Bank my friend went to would have done it for him dont you think? We just want things done the right way. |
UnclePati:OGA you are not right I'm afraid. Zenith bank is not NIMC they just provide an office space for them ,the staff there works for NIMC not Zenith. |
This is from someone I know. He did his BVN with UBA around 2014/2015 unknown to him that UBA gave him June date of Birth instead of July.(Day and year was correct) . Unfortunately he did not know. Fast forward to 2018 he heard Zenith was helping with NIMC registration in Lagos, so he went to their branch in Allen armed with his Drivers Licence and Internatiinal Passport all containing the July date of Birth(The correct one). Zenith said he must have an account with them before they can help with NIMC Registration. He opened account just because of NIMC. Fast forward to NIMC registration point inside the Bank, he filled the form and when the BVN details came up they said there was a discrepancy. Since BVN was the issue the logical thing was to go back to UBA to correct the mistake on BVN. After some weeks he went to UBA and the error was corrected in less than 10mins(after presentation of drivers licence) and the lady said it has been rectified that in a few days time all will be alright that its a small thing. Some weeks later he went to Zenith again for the NIMC, unfortunately the date was still same on NIMC portal despite the fact that the BVN which they source their information from had updated their records. All this was around Sept/Oct 2018. Fastforward to 2019 my guy spent the holiday season in Abuja then it occured to him to get his NIMC again since this was their HQ. On 03/01/19 he went to their HQ near FIRS. The lady gave him the form after fingerprint scanning which is the first thing ,so my guy told the lady his issue and the Lady said the date had not yet changed and the lady suggested that he should go and print his BVN details from his Bank and attach it to his form during the NIMC biometric capture and inform the officer so that change can be effected. My guy ran to UBA close to WUSE Market and printed his BVN details containing the right date ,went back to NIMC collected form from thesame lady filled it , another Lady checked it and put serial no on it for capture so he can queue. When he got to Capture and the Officer noticed the discrepancy despite the attached the BVN printout the Officer said he should go to the main hall and see a woman there. My guy saw the woman explained to her , even showed her International Passport then the woman said its 15000.00. The woman said it was free before but that a new memo came out yesterday(02/01/19) saying 15k must be charged for date of birth corrections. All my guy said prophetically was " we will speak to the Government" and as God will have it someone has brought this to Nairaland. This is to confirm that what the first Poster said was nothing but the truth. WE ARE THE ONE THAT CAN CHANGE THIS COUNTRY AFTER ALL THE STRESS THEY SAY BRING 15K AGAIN. IS IT A SIN TO BE A NIGERIAN? |

By Fred Iwenjora Mrs. Olufunke Olawuanle Oladapo is a big example of a human wreck. To say she is in distress is an understatement. I ran into the 63 years old retired teacher at a business complex in Ejigbo, a suburb of Lagos. As she circumnavigated the complex twice clutching her phone on one hand and handbag on the other, I was forced to ask what was amiss. She was looking for a lawyer urgently. She said she saw a sign post outside directing her and came into the complex. Olufunke Olawuanle Oladapo I directed her to one of the chambers within the compound which was under locks at the time. However, I suggested that she could take the telephone numbers displayed to contact them. She went closer to the office but quickly turned back to me saying she could not read the letters as they were tiny even as her sights were cloudy. I offered to assist again and went closer to help her read the numbers. That was when I perceived the tension boiling inside Mrs. Oladapo. She was seething in anger, breathing too high and almost choking. I dragged a lone chair nearby and asked her to sit down first before asking why she was choking. I am not a medical doctor but I know someone who is in real agony when I see one. Here's her sorrowful and very pathetic tale. "I don't want to bore you all with my long tale but if you are patient, you will definitely understand my sad story" she heaved a loud sigh. "I got married to Adewale Oladapo, a civil engineering contractor at the Ijebu Ode Marriage Registry on 30th of August 1980 so it will be 38 years this August. I was a teacher at Government Technical College Idi Aba, Abeokuta at that time and he told me he just returned from Germany. We had met in 1979 through his step brother. (she brandished her marriage certificate) A year after the marriage, my husband revealed to me that he had fathered a son when he was in class five at Ahmadiya College Ibadan with a female student of St Theresa's Ibadan. He said the woman had already remarried with other children and that the child was staying with his grandparents at FESTAC Town in Lagos. At the time, we lived at No; 13 Akinbaye street Isolo near the Obas palace, close to Akinbaye primary school where I was a teacher. My husband was then working at Nigeria Engineering Works(NEW) Ikoyi. He was later to bring in his son Oladayo Oladapo to live with us and he was enrolled at Ire Akari school. Dayo became my son and I became popular as his mum, Iya Dayo. I recall one Saturday morning while I was washing clothes, a post man came with a letter saying we had won a three bedroom apartment at Block 11, flat 3 Iponri Low cost estate, Surulere. We had been processing for it when Lagos state called for it. I went with my husband to inspect it. We had applied when it was advertised. We completed the acquisition process, did the interiors of the flat, furnished it and moved in. I got inter school transfer from Isolo while Dayo was later enrolled at Eric Moore High School. Some years later, while the Lagos Marketing Board was building and allocating shops at the Iponri market again we were lucky to get two allocations as both our applications were approved. My husband used his shop as office where he sold paint as well as a business center while I used mine to sell drinks. He also later started building and later completed a 4 bedroom duplex, two 3-bedroom flats and a Boys Quarters at No 6 Adeleye close off Popoola bus stop Ago, Okota, Isolo. TROUBLE BREWS After many years of marriage my husband started worrying about my childlessness. Peace left the house as he complained ceaselessly. Quarrel was a daily affair News also started flying about his involvement with another woman named Bola who later bore him a daughter Yetunde. MORE PROBLEMS My problems started when my husband died on November 18, 2003. It will be fifteen years this year. The first person I called when the sad event happened was Dayo, my stepson who had moved out of the house by then and he reached his uncle that is my husband's elder brother Alhaji Tunji Oladapo. They both knew he was ill before then and also joined in the care for him. Alhaji Tunji came to ask for all his documents in the house. He ransacked the house and took all documents he could reach including carrying away our generator. He said he had exclusive rights over my brother's property because since their parents died, he was the one who raised him and sent him to school. He said since he was the one responsible for his education, he is his next of kin. After my husband's burial at the property at Ago, Alhaji took over the management of the property. He warned the tenants of the house not to pay rent to any other one other than himself. He told Dayo and his sister Yetunde that for being the most senior, he was in charge of everything including the property at Ago until they were of age. He told them they would get allowances yearly from his management. He also put up a big NOT FOR SALE notice and went away. Yet nothing for me. He managed the system for seven years [https://odili.net/news/source/2018/sep/2/303.html ][/url] |

@deturla with people like you, all hope is not lost for Tourism in Nigeria. |
deturla:I am not trying to speak ill of that place , just that there is need to develope that place as part of a Tourism corridor, on its own there is no big deal about it.I know what I am saying. A tour to that place should be combined with other places of interest. |
A nice place. To make that place worth its visit ,they need to group Ado Awaye with other tourist attractions in close proximity. The lake is not as bigbal and awe inspiring as one thinks. |
No investigation as usual. What caused it. Was it the Truck or the Bus. |

Na wa o. Poverty is a crime in this country, but who wants to be poor? No one wants to be poor but the Country is designed to impoverish most of its people unless you are ready to cut corners. There is poverty in our land and the leaders do not seem to care. Do Nigerians really want to be rich? No , they just need an environment where there is Justice, fairness and equity where a man can live a dignified life. He can cloth himself reasonably, eat good food, send his children to good schools, can buy a car if he wants and his life is secured. At least the basic things of life are guaranteed, such that if he wants to be rich he knows the environment is favourable for him and that will be his own personal hustle not a situation where the very basic things have been taken away from you. |
