OneCandleAway: If we keep complaining about whites taking our resources in its crude form, have we tried to promote the finished product. Have we shown we have capacity to produce finished products with high quality? We can learn a thing or 2 from China and how they became a major producer. Despite barely having natural resources. To get to the expertise of Swiss chocolates makers won't be easy but they can start somewhere and improve..... But theres something about international trade that people sometimes overlook..... Treaties and agreements. Why is Ghanaian president grumbling when he can simply stop his country's cocoa going to swiss? Probably ghana have trade treaties that ensures a certain number of export ....or maybe while looking for foreign investors the ones that showed up are only interested in extracting and taking away raw materials... tctrills: First only 46 percentage of Americans are members of a Church or synagogue so it doesn't add up. Also a much less percentage actually attain church. Secondly, between 1948 to 1967, the US was Neutral. There was an arm embargo against Israel. In the 1948 battle, most of Israel's arms came from Czechoslovakia. Note, at this time, there was a much larger christian percentage in the US. The first time the US supported Israel in war was in 1973. And this happened because of the cold war. The Soviet union was on the side of Egypt. Let's stop the lazy blame on Christianity. If you disagree with anything I have written, let me know so I can send you links. It was evangelicals in Europe that first mooted the idea of a homeland for Jews believing it to be a biblical call even before Theodore Herzl began Zionism. The purpose of Israel among Jews is different from those of Christians Jews through Zionism wants to create a homeland for the Jews and Israel being a historical significance to Jews became the natural choice....the problem is the land is not uninhabited and the local population including some Jews never resisted the settlers it was the settlers who began displacing those the met on ground. And since they have Europe (who was too glad to finally get rid of jews) backing them with cash and weapons it was a matter of time before Zionists proclaimed the creation of Israel. Christians on the other hand view creation of Israel as a necessary step towards the coming back of. Christ . A personal belief here Jews would have settled with Arabs long ago....but Christianity is not allowing that because it will be seen as a defeat of ChristianityA personal opinion |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Why Israel Is Guity Of Breaking UN Reolutions by Rolings: 6:56pm On Jan 17, 2024 |
tctrills: It is not a point. Every country has its allies. Have you ever asked why the US supports Israel? Lastly, many countries have disregarded UN resolutions. This include North Korea, Iran, Syria and Russia and nothing happened to them. China also disregards the UN on the issue of the South china sea The main reason is an oxymoron called Christian Zionism. Evangelicals in America believe supporting Israel is a biblical mandate. The belief is that if Christ is coming back it will be to the land of the Jews ie Israel. Israel has to exist for Christ to come back Everyone disregards UN resolution because of US hypocrisy. |

tctrills: First, there was nothing like the UN at the time of the British mandate. (1918-1948). The league of nations did. It changed name in 1945 to UN |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Why Israel Is Guity Of Breaking UN Reolutions by Rolings: 6:45pm On Jan 17, 2024 |
tctrills: Every UN resolution boils down to a vote. Its politics. There are 1.8 billion Muslims and 49 majority-Muslim countries. On the other hand, there is just one majority Jewish state and only 16 million Jews in the world.
These Muslim nations' influence easily overpowered that of Israel. In 2020, the Economy of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation which consists of 57 member states had a combined GDP(PPP) of US$ 24 trillion which is equal to about 18% of the world's GDP or US$ 30 trillion with 5 OIC observer states which is equal to about 22% of the world's GDP. It is impossible to ignore this influence when considering how the UN votes. Even if you are not a Muslim country, you wouldn't want to be an enemy with a 30 trillion GDP. I opened this thread to educate my friend Firstcitizen and others who have argued this with me in the recent past. Remove US veto power and Israel dare not disobey any UN resolution. The power behind Israel is USA |

tctrills: I agree with some of what you said but you got the facts wrong at the end. The UN did not give the land to the British, it was the British that handed over the land to the UN. The British took the land from the Ottoman Empire after WW1. The UN then decided to create 2 nations out of the land but the Arabs went to war. And yes, you are right, many people are being unfairly treated so we should not only make noise for those who lobby. You mix it up. That's why it was called the British mandate for Palestine. The predecessor to UN, the league of nations gave it to the British and Syria and other parts to France . Lord Balfour declaration is seen in some quarters as an anti semitic act because it was a solution to the Jewish problems of Europe.... |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Everyone Is Talking About The Palestinians But Not The Kurds by Rolings: 6:11pm On Jan 17, 2024 |
tctrills: The Kurds are the most victimized people in the Middle East. Genocidal attacks have been committed against them by Syria, Iraq, and Turkey. The worst chemical attack in history was carried out against them, yet the UN and international community find it convenient to ignore their suffering. Also, the pro-Hamas wing of Nairaland never discusses this. Is it because the Jews are not involved here? The hypocrisy here is simply legendary. Just so you know, these are also Muslims but so long they are being persecuted by their fellow Muslims, it is ok. I can bet that this is the first thread on Nairaland dedicated to their plight. Actually there are many Palestine all over the world. The world would act based on how much noise and lobbying those affected could make . Rohigyars in myanmar Kashmir Kurds Armenians Palestinians Uighurs Western Sahara UN can act on Palestine because it created Israel in Palestine. It gave the British the mandate to rule Palestine and the British gave it to Israel. UNs oldes relief agency is in Palestine.... UNRWA |

paxx: All I know is, whatever is going on there hasn't been a solution and people would rather hide it and pretend it's not going on then address it because then they would have to fix it.
Similar to how witnesses claimed that a nigerian army helicopter was shot down in Niger state but nigerian goverment was quick to say it was a crash.
Only they know what they are benefitting by spinning the story. But again you have to fix the issue instead of just hiding it because the truth will come out eventually See MOST military don't rush to admit these things even if it seems obvious at first..... They will thoroughly investigate before concluding for 2 reasons 1. So innocent won't be punished 2. Offender don't go unpunished. And it's a psychological win for the terrorists if the army is painted in bad light that's why military usually withhold or deny such information that's negative. IDF was forced to me mentioning Casualties figures in Gaza because IDF don't want to ceasefire and is also denying suffering heavy casualties and at the same time gagging doctor in public hospitals .....the Israeli media seeing dead and wounded stream into Israel daily couldn't keep quiet anymore so IDF was forced to be announcing casualties even though the figures are heavily supressed |

They would rather hide it, then allow it to be public and then people will want them to fix it. Please what's going on in the middle belt. Me I don't think its ethnic cleansing. Why would an ethnic group be so lame to be allowing strangers to their lands destroy them. It's waaay beyond ethnic cleansing....it has economic connotation and indigenes of fhe area that has mineral deposits are usually the first to lay claim of entitlement. Sometimes Their traditional rulers sell mining rights to these people , sometimes they have business disagreement which leads to ugly attacks at times. The latest plateau attacks in December was carried out by criminals who want to have access to the minefields . Crosscheck all I've said |
