Chai. Women trouble plenty o. So among all the troubles in this world loose and tightness of kpekus is one of them. Well, let me call on Xiadnat sha. She may have a word or two for you. |

It's true that in most cases women are responsible for the violence they experience in relationship of whatever form as they have a choice to quit the affair. But it's also true that most of these women are financially handicapped and also 'forced' to stay coz of what people may say. Nigeria is one of the worst countries to be a single mum or divorcee woman as the society will stigmatised you while men see you as rejects and uncultured. On reporting DV to the police they may even tell you to go and apologise to your hubby and stop being disrespectful to avoid beating. In some cases, your parents and siblings will caution you never to utter a word when your hubby is talking and must respect him no matter what. They don't even want to hear divorce as its sacrilegious and their religion condemns it. Sometime last year a family friend told me how his sister is constantly being battered by her hubby and she has packed out of their home to a friend's place. She then briefed her senior brother about what has happened and her decision to finally quit the abusive marriage hoping to get some moral support from him. To her dismay, the brother told her to go back to her husband and plead for forgiveness and she should 'always' obey him. Now for someone with such mindset, just pause and think about the kind of things his (the bro) wife endures whenever she 'disobeys' him? Her junior bro was furious and wanted to go beat the hell out of the lunatic but coz of distance he couldn't at the time. He was the only one who gave her the support she needed and they have finalised their divorce. Many ladies who are going through such abuse just need the support of their siblings and family to move on but the relatives don't give them the encouragement they need. The things some people go through in the name of marriage is appalling and totally unacceptable. |
Yuneehk:Perhaps women should start using contraceptives since they are the ones who bears most of the burdens that comes with unwanted pregnancies. Guys aren't really deep in pregnancy mess as the ladies so may not bother. |
crownedprinz:Guessing she's also a corper, right? If yes I think as someone who just concluded her tertiary education she's looking forward to settling down in the nearest future and intend to only get involve with someone she can exchange nuptial vows with. Taking into account your tribal difference she isn't certain any relationship may transpose to marriage hence her reluctance. I think you should just continue being nice and get to make her feel and trust you. I'm unsure your stance on inter-tribal marriages but if you're one who don't mind marrying from her tribe you have to start making your non tribalistic disposition clear to her. She may come around at some point if she's into you. Don't let her hold you back and friendzone you. If she's not forthcoming with a response move on. |
Have you made your intention known to her and what said she? Do you have her contacts and how financially stabilised are you? |
Josphine4good:Which man wan marry this one sef? Go marry a fellow woman na. ![]() |
That one na their headache. For me the moment we don agree say we dey date and in a relationship na that time we agree to start dey fvck. I no dey for all those shakara and it's too early for sex talks. If you no wan fvck waka dey go. ![]() |
MzzTega:Hi dear, been a while. How's you? |
Did they actually date or it was a recommended marriage? The marriage shouldn't have happened in the first place as they are both incompatible and unserious. |
Dude looks like mugu for real (no offeinse). ![]() |
You have a point. Most time when I want to go intimate with a lady and start putting on condom they give me a stern look like I'm silly. Playing safe doesn't bother them one bit. Just recently, I declined to have sex with one coz I couldn't find a condom as I thought I had some left but didn't know I don't. I was too h*rny myself and there was no where close to purchase one but I restrain myself from indulging without protection. This girl got upset and it took her more than a week to start talking to me coz she was so vexed the whole night. I'm more disquietude in actually putting a lady in a family way than contracting STDs. Got no time to start paying monthly child support biko. But it's not just Nigerian ladies, most East Africans, Carribeans and Caucasians women don't even know condom exist. It's never considered at all. |
ShayGirl:Yes, it's better to keep tasting until you meet the one you're sexually compatible with than get committed with someone with no sexual chemistry and start philandering. Nothing wrong with having sex with every girlfriend one dates, is it? ![]() |
ShayGirl:No, you don't dump her. You proceed with the marriage and then experience a sexually frustrated life forever or start having side chicks to satisfy you. That should be better, right? ![]() |
Chai. Only in Naija my country. We too much. ![]() |
tosyne2much:Egbon mi, that's how we roll. ![]() |
firstking01:Your dictionary should help you out but a freethinker is anyone who forms their opinion and ideas independently of authority and on the basis of rational reasoning in favour of dogmas and organized religion. To put in perspective, freethinkers are individuals who assess matters and issues critically and relying on tested and proven facts as opposed to lore tendentiousness, partisanship, dogmas and sectarianism et al. I don't believe in something coz my parents brought me up as a child to do so or coz majority adopts it as true and without proven evidence of it actuality. |
Does it matter to any Nigerian that the removal of the fuel subsidy could be the right thing to do. It's long overdue and frankly, it's an outdated tool for impoverishing the poor (decided by the privileged on their behalf, naturally). Proponents of fuel subsidy want you believe that when you buy a litre of fuel for less than the market price, the public treasury pays the rest (the one and possibly only thing our government do for us). And rightly so too. However, they may not tell you that you're eventually paying the rests. Like it or not that cost is transferred to the customer. Because? Economics and reality. Let me guess, in a fantastically corrupt country like Nigeria, the suppliers and marketers will claim 5 litres for every 1 litre sold, and get reimbursed by the treasury. That's billions of dollars lost annually. Monies that will be helpful in societal development and job creation amongst others, all going to the pockets of the oil cabals. Now, every time you purchase subsidised fuel, you're basically enriching thieves and depriving yourself of getting that new job that would've been created and that could've been a new source of income to you. But you prefer accusing others of corruption while you encourage the practice. However, my only concern is that the government must review wages of it staff to dovetails with the new petroleum price and forex fall. |
firstking01:I'm a freethinker bro. ![]() |
firstking01:It depends on what compass you view my opinion on the highlighted issues and your definition of pessimism. I view issues (marriage/religion) from an unorthodox point of view and reason in isolation so it's up to you or anyone else to rebuff them with a better argument. Kapisch? |
Estharfabian:Hehe, was actually alluding to the alleged 'exposé' of your 'identity' by NL 'sleuths' that occurred about a fortnight ago. Perhaps that may not pass as controversial but it did attract a seething mass of forumites and polemic banters. Good to know you're still around but occupied with better things. Keep your heads up in whatever you're busy with. Cheers. |
Did Linda tell you marriage is her priority? Are the married ones fairing better than her and other unmarried successful women? Why are you so bothered? ![]() |

Same old rhetorics. We'll pay monthly 5k to the most vulnerable Nigerians till this year comes to an end then same cobblers talk next year just to keep the hopes of their credulous followers animated and divert attention from their poor policies that has left the country's economy in a somnolent state. We need to start seeing action and not vague talks. ![]() |
Haven't noticed sha. But if true hope she still sticks around, she's one of the very smart ladies we have here regardless the controversy that has trailed her recently. |
