PoliticsRe: What Osinbajo’s Call For Naira Devaluation Could Mean For The Future by rontolo(m): 4:12pm On Oct 12, 2021
ezekins:
It's unfortunate that you still don't reason in the right direction. I assume you are a Nigerian but you easily buy the position of our politicians as if you are a foreigner. Has naira not been devalued before and what became the resultant effect. Cbn should review the operation of domiciliary accounts in Nigeria because it's become a tool with which they use to hoard Fx in Nigeria. why should people be banking dollars , euro pounds in Nigeria. This will be my last reply to this. People should reason independently.
Too many of you don’t realise the magnitude of the challenge Nigeria faces. You obviously know little about macro/micro economic dynamics. Releasing all the dollars in domiciliary accounts won’t save the naira. Nigeria’s ability to generate dollar firepower is rapidly diminishing. Even if it did, Naira subsidy only breeds more corruption.

This is free market economics. Nigeria will never be competitive with all this finance command/control nonsense. FDI will continue to decline. We are paying the price for decades of underinvestment and corruption. The current naira value is artificial and unsustainable. Devaluation will happen whether we want it or not. Just a matter of time

Osibanjo has nothing to offer to Nigeria. for him to be pushing for the further devaluation the naira knowing fully well how valueless the naira is clearly shows his emptiness.

The fact remains no good investors can invest in a country that lacks basic infrastructure such as electricity, good roads, etc. Government that consistently shows no respect for the rule of law.
Osibanjo earned my respect for this truth he espouses. What we have now amounts to a ‘subsidy’ on the naira. Nigeria cannot afford it. It is artificial and seriously damaging our long term economic health.

What we have now is expensive, inefficient, unproductive, unsustainable and only delays the inevitable. Naira will sooner or later find it’s level whether the cbn likes it or not
PoliticsRe: What Osinbajo’s Call For Naira Devaluation Could Mean For The Future by rontolo(m): 11:49am On Oct 12, 2021
TheRareGem1:
VP never call for Naira devaluation. He only called for an official rate reflective of market reality. The current dual exchange rates allows for arbitrage and blocks inflow/supply of dollars from investors.
Another word for devaluation. Market realities, market forces determining the exchange rate will result in a spiralling naira devaluation in the short to medium term.

What we have now is expensive, inefficient, unproductive, unsustainable and only delays the inevitable. Naira will sooner or later find it’s level whether the cbn likes it or not
TravelRe: Travelling Into Nigerian (MMIA) Is Uber Safe To Your Destination Within Lagos ? by rontolo(m): 10:52pm On Oct 09, 2021
Book a hotel taxi, tell them to pick you up from the domestic wing, that you’re arriving from Benin or wherever local. Call the driver just after you land to pick you up from the international wing instead as you’ve had a change of plans. This reduces your risk in several ways:

1. Local arrivals is much less kidnap risk compared to international arrivals
2. Last minute change of plan leaves little time for kidnappers to organise and adapt their kidnap plans

Finally, be vigilant as the vehicle moves. I tell the driver impromptu, the route I want him to take e.g. 3rd mainland bridge etc. No shortcuts, no detours, no 3rd party meet-up, no back streets. Being alert, outspoken is a deterrent by itself as it can unnerve criminals

I know that miscarriage of justice is prevalent in America. However, the burden of evidence nowadays, for a crime as serious as this is substantial. To be found guilty, with three attorneys representing you at different times is a bright red flag. There would have been an abundance of evidence to convict - dna, cctv, physical sightings, victim identification etc.

How did you end up being found guilty by a jury without these? Something ain’t right

Banning AbokiFX puts more pressure on the naira due to the information asymmetry this creates. Markets consider such controls anathema to transparent price discovery.

Counter productive. Our leaders have run out of ideas.

You are senseless. Almost all the funds needed for 2022 budget is borrowed. What percentage of our budget goes to recurrent expenditure? Obj is spot on. Buhari is borrowing to fund salaries, buy food in presidential villa and other wasteful ventures.

You are not getting your blessing from the Church. You get your blessing from God, the omnipotent. We need to get enlightened not to fall prey to businessmen pastors

candidtalk:
Stop fooling yourself. The UK would have initiated the severing of diplomatic ties with Nigeria immediately if Kanu is a citizen they value or are convinced is innocent of the terrorist charges me and you know he is 100% guilty of same as Shekau and others.

If you think the UK had no hand in Kanu's arrest, wherever he was picked up eventually, then you are even more naive than a Nigerian child living in the most remote village with no school and no TV, radio or internet acccess.

Do you people live underground not to understand how the likes of interpol etal work when everyone agrees it is time to stop an individual they all consider a terrorist persona non grata?
Nope. NK was simply reckless. Arrogant boy. He must have entered a lawless African country thinking he’s invincible. This stup1d boys attitude really setback their struggle. Violence, childishness , recklessness

Alaska90:
Please do you have any proof that Britain extradited him to Nigeria?

Because there is nothing like that online...

And for your information extradition is done through a judge in court in UK

And its not done in secret so there is no way they could have done that without the public knowledge

Anything outside that is illegal

So please stop spreading fake news online

And if you have a proof share it here

Thank you
The only way he landed in Nigeria is via extradition, Interpol facilitating. But I agree it may not have been Britain, with NK travelling from place to place. Regardless, his approach was to immature and confrontational to those who would have supported his cause. Secession is justified with the actions of this hopeless govt, but NK messed up with his annoying approach
PoliticsRe: Ohanaeze Reacts To Nnamdi Kanu's Arrest - 'End Of Violent Agitations' by rontolo(m): 5:58pm On Jun 29, 2021
Kanu missed an opportunity. He is too self serving, prone to violence. His violence disposition made it easy for Britain to extradite him. He would have millions more supporting the cause if he’d been more responsible, less inciteful and forged peaceful agitation. NK is more stup1d than I thought

Has a US Nigeria lady taken a Nigerian man from African to marry her and live with her in the US. I want to know pls cos I have never heard it.
Yes. One of my in-laws in the US. She brings the man to the US. She is mean and bossy. Dude was being seriously maltreated to the point of being hospitalised for mental breakdown. In distress, he starts to complain seriously to her family members. She wasn’t going to stand for that. She arranges a vacation to Nigeria with him. He needed to visit his family in the village. They arrange to regroup in Lagos two days before flying back together to the US. Oga returns as planned only to be told wife returned to the US the day before. She dumped him in Nigeria. Took ALL his documents with her. Oga entered a state of shock, sat outside the property for days, distressed. Poor man died two months later, depression and heart break

The concept of bringing a spouse abroad is a definite no no. Never. Women are less likely to be victims , as they get what they want - kids, the house, anything else is extra to them. Men have everything to lose!!

ObaKlaz:
No nation is without challenges. Nigerians are always eager to point back home with the left index finger, especially in the full glare of the international community.

Comments on Nairaland alone are enough to repel foreign investors! Nigeria is down already, as it is, but negative portrayals of the country such as this one, on international platforms do the already battered image of the country no favours.

Ghana ain't sh!t, but Ghanaians won't stop hyping and giving their country good PR.

The average Nigerian needs to be taught a thing or two about patriotism, while we try to fix our self-inflicted problems.
Wrong! Nigeria is a different class of failure. A self inflicted, self administered decline. The leadership is awful. Bringing this out in the open averts a much bigger disaster further down the road. You only need listen to Buhari to know the deep sh1t Nigeria is in!
