Romance › Re: Why Are Igbo Girls So Infuriating? by rosefleurs: 4:20am On Feb 25, 2012 |
daroz: Earlier today I met this lady in a blackberry online forum. We exchanged pins added each other and started pinging. During the cause of introduction, she claimed to be a 26 years old Igbo girl, who happened to be a psychology graduate of University of Jos, who presently has a teaching job there. When I asked were her families where, she claimed they are all in Portharcort. So as a fellow southerner, mindful of the persistent religious and ethnic conflicts and security issues always springing up there, I ask her a simple question, what are you doing in jos, dont you think you will be better and safer if you return to your family at Portharcort, and take up a job there?. But that happened to be a big mistake on my part as she spent the next couple of minutes poring all sort of insults on me, asking me and every other Southerners asking the Igbos to return to the South to bleep ourselves. I was shock and short of words, I waited patiently for her to finish. But as soon as I thought she was done with the insult and was trying to reply her as a gentle man, she immediately ended the chat and deleted me. I felt so embarrassed. This is not the 1st time I am experiencing such an unnecessary insult from an Igbo girl. I cant still I remember some years ago when I was still a student( inUNIBEN), I met an Igbo girl (by the name Chioma, who was a student of IMSTU )through yahoo messager chat and we started chatting regularly. After some time I paid a visit to her in school. Then she started coming to UNIBEN to visit me on regular basis . At times she will come with her best friend by the name of Uju or something, and they will spend days with me in my off camp hostel at BDPA. Even my friend started seeing her friend and I was really of great financial help to her at that time cos she claimed her dad company and properties has been ceased by a particular bank, so he was presently hypertensive and incapable of supporting her in school. This relationships continued for several months until it became obvious it was too difficult for us to maintain as a result of the a long distance. So we agreed to maintain the communication through phone, but reduce her frequent visit so she can concentrate on her studies and reduce the stress and risk of traveling. So I called her one afternoon after class and we talked at length. I even sent her an MTN card. So at about 1am that night for no definite reason, I just decided to call. But I called her several times, but she refused to pick. So I waited for 5fives minutes and called with my Glo line which I know she dont have the number( cos we always talk through MTN to MTN family and friends). This time around she picked and I started asking why she didnt pick my MTN and she said she didnt know her phone was ringing. But I observed her voice was unusually low and she was even selecting words. Then I started asking her what the problem was but she pretended she wasnt hearing what I was saying. Then I heard a male voice and instantly the call ended. I tried calling back, and she refused to pick. But after the 3rd dial, a guy picked and said hello. Though furious, I answered calmly and requested to speak with Chioma. I heard some little argument in the background, then she quietly said hello and refused to speak further, then I heard the guys voice again, and to my greatest amazement I heard her explaining to him that I am just a toaster disturbing her line for sometime now. And she spoke directly to the phone to me to stop disturbing her, and then she ended the call. I couldnt believe my eyes. So I tried to convince myselve she must have mistook me for someone else, so I decided to call with my MTN line so she can be sure who is it. But when she pick picked the call she said aloud WHAT? I said stop disturbing my line, I am not interested, I have a boyfriend? Then she ended the call again before I could reply. Despite I suspect her to be most likely into some other relationship as a result of the distance btw us, I never expected to experience anything like this. However, I got over it within a few days, and she and her friend started bombing my lines with foolish text messages and phones calls, I insisted never to set my eyes on her again, and I never did till this moment. Even when I asked her Igbo friend to assist me purchase an Home Theatre Sound System some time ago and I have to return the system to the shop few days latter as a result of it performing below expectation, I realized the guy dat i sent b4 cheated me with over 7,000 naira. So my question is , are Igbo girls(even guys) really like this? NB: and for those of you in this forum trying to link the Edos with the Igbos, stop that trash!!! Historically, culturally and politically we are not linked to the Igbos, we are more of western than any other group. We may be a minority, but we definitely dont need the Igbos. If you guys need allies, then look up north. ROTLMAO. LWKMD. Can a person die from laughing? Seriously. This is the best part: "And she spoke directly to the phone to me to stop disturbing her, and then she ended the call. I couldnt believe my eyes." Hilarious. If true, sorry for the ill-treatment by the girls, OP. But like someone said, you gotta write more. |

here is a link to WHO IS WHO in Lagos government http://www.lasg-ebs-rcm.com/Services/ContactLASG.asp I reviewed that list of Fashola's inner circle. He needs to take the lead and create a more diverse cabinet. If Lagos state doesn't do it, who will? It is really obvious that Igbos are a marginalized group in that country. Considering their sizable population, it is only reasonable that at least 10% of his cabinet should be Igbos and other Easterners. And that's not asking for too much. There are 3rd generation Igbos in Lagos, for Pete's sake. How hard can it be to find qualified ones who are interested in serving in government? It's obvious it will be hard for minority populations to win statewide election, so it will behoove the forward-thinking highly respected governor of Lagos state to incorporate them into the inner circle though political appointments. I am really taken aback looking at that list. Do the right thing, Fashola! |

davidylan: Absolute bull. My mother is a senior doctor who built a medical career in paediatrics, combined it with a private practice and public health advocacy while raising 3 boys. My aunt raises 4 girls and is a senior manager at Addax. What exactly are you saying? That it is impossible for a woman to work and raise kids at the same time? So because a woman has kids she has become a delicate vegetable that should do nothing but watch TV and grow fat all day?
Men equally have to come home exhausted and deal with household issues, worry about financial problems, fix the gen, the car and STILL have time to bathe and feed their babies.
I think you are pathologically lazy. Way to go to miss the point. I am not talking about myself or anyone I know. It is a hypothetical! I am challenging you because you are a bloody hypocrite. It matters not why someone chooses to be a homemaker. THe fact is there is honour in choosing it. And simply because a woman chooses that does not make her of bad character. Also, just because your wife has a job doesn't certify that she is not going to spend your money or dump your a$$ at the first opportunity. Many successful men even prefer their wives to be homemakers. As someone who worships Oyinbo people I would expect you to be all over that. Who gives a flip if your mummy is the president of the World Bank or the Queen of Africa. Arrogant jerkoff! I guaranty you, with your attitude you're just the kinda guy whose wife runs off with a co-worker. Dudes like you are advised to keep their wives in purdah, safely at home from interaction with other (nicer) men. |

Masquerades are some scary sh1t. The scariest one I ever saw was an Ibo/Igbo masquerade in Surulere, many years ago. Life was peaceful then. Strolling down the street coming from the store with my comic books and meatpies in hand, I see people running in all kinds of direction, almost into traffic. All of a sudden this crazy apparition is bearing down directly at me. I used to run really fast back then. . We tried to run into somebody's house but they wouldn't let us in. Mehn, that's why I like the traditional Lagos Eyo masquerade. That's just pure fun. But, if you're a pretty sisi, and one of them knows you from before. . . Lord, come see beating my sister got from a dude she used to do shakara to. Okay, it was only hits on her open palm. And, I think she may have been wearing shoes sha. You're not supposed to do that. Very arrogant girl. |

NOIBMUUL: . . .Next week will be exactly one year, yes, 365days that she's been playing this game with me and frankly, I don't know if I'm silly or she's just playing hard to get. Yes she accepts my invite for a date whenever I ask her and she's even invited me over to her family's gathering (naming celebration of her cousin's baby) and yet, I don't know what she has for me.
. . .Personally, it seems to me like she's trying to mend her relationship with her present boyfriend who's already anticipating a break-up but she doesn't want to let go of him because she's invested her time in the relationship. Meanwhile, she's keeping me on stand-by just in case. . . Wow! That's too bad she treated you like that. Why were you sticking around and sniffing on some chick that's (sleeping) with another dude anyway? Jeez! You deserve better. NOIBMUUL: wow!!! I have been enlightened.
*what exactly do ladies want gaan sef?* It depends on the lady. Someone will fall in love with you and, hopefully, you with her - at ther same time. It just seems like one one person is always more in love than the object of their affection or, even worse, "all alone in love." Best wishes, mate. |

lexicon: According to his mother Theresa Avery, until the age of three Zach was a regular boy who loved Thomas the Tank Engine, but suddenly he became obsessed with Dora the Explorer and started dressing in girls clothes.
Ms Avery, who has three other children, told the Daily Telegraph that Zach's anguish at being a boy was such that "he used to cry and try to cut off his willy out of frustration."
Eventually NHS doctors officially diagnosed Zach with GID, one of the youngest affected children in the UK.
Ms Avery said: "They told us that although he had a male body, his brain was telling him he was a girl."
Zach's primary school now addresses him as a girl and has changed the toilets to Unisex.
Ms Avery said the school has been very supportive and Zach had experienced no bullying from other children.
"We explained to the other kids at the school that Zach's body was that of a boy but in his brain he was a girl. We said Zach was just happier being a girl than a boy," Ms Avery told the Daily Telegraph.
According to the Tavistock and Patman Foundation Trust in London, where Zach was diagnosed, 165 children received a GID diagnosis in the past year, of which only seven were under the age of five.
A spokesperson for the Trust said: "The trend in referrals has been up over the years - this may reflect greater awareness.
http://uk.lifestyle.yahoo.com/five-year-old-boy-opts-to-become-a-girl.html I read this again. It is such nonsense. I'd like to know if the boy has older sisters. Children like bright shiny things; since women's attire are usually more colorful, it stands to reason that some boys will be attracted to that at a young age. It doesn't mean they want to be female. I know this because my little brother went through a phase where he would wrap a scarf on his head whenever all the girls do the same when its time to pray. He got over it pretty quickly once he found something else more interesting. Children go through phases. When crazy parents start panicking and ascribe unreasonable origin to meaningless things, you see pro-homo organizations like the above springing up everywhere claiming more and more children want to change their sex. And imagine sending your 5-year old to a school, and she comes back home to tell you the school told them a male classmate is pretending to be a girl and everyone had to play along. Where does fantasy end and reality begins? This better be a hoax. freecocoa: Shebi if I say this oyinbo people mumu now people go start to insult me, Of course, they're mumu to the 9th power. Here is a similar article linked from the original opening this thread. http://uk.lifestyle.yahoo.com/blogs/yahoo-lifestyles/meet-parents-raising-genderless-baby-105402289.htmlMeet the parents who are raising a ‘genderless’ baby A Canadian couple from Toronto have decided to keep the gender of their four-month-old baby a secret in order to raise what they call a 'genderless' child. Storm will be raised as neither a boy nor girl and will choose a sex when he or she grows up. After Storm was born on New Year's Day, the parents sent out an email to the rest of their friends and loved ones, writing: "We've decided not to share Storm's sex - a tribute to choice in a place of limitation, a stand up to what the world could become in Storm's lifetime ( a more progressive place?, )." Defending their decision, Kathy said, "With the baby, even the people who love the most and know you intimately, the first question they ask is, '"Is it a girl or a boy?"' David added, "If you really want to get to know someone, you don't ask what's between their legs.' Kathy and David feel strongly about releasing their children from the constraints that society poses on males and females and want them to make their own decisions about how they act and look. Their sons Jazz, five, and Kio, two, have the freedom to dress themselves and decide when they want to cut their hair. Kio's favourite colour is purple and older sibling Jazz has long hair, he likes pink. After being mistaken for a girl and home schooled because of how people would, "immediately react with Jazz over his gender" the couple decided to raise Storm genderless. |

Virgins will forever be cherished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amin o! The naysayers are just jealous. Princek12: To the contrary, being a virgin at an old age connotes lack of opportunity, hormonal imbalance, socially dysfunctional individual, and possibly a circumcised punny. Wow! I feel sorry for your future daughters. "A lack of opportunity"? Listen. Lemme explain something to you. Maintaining ones virginity means nothing of the sort. Once and for all, you people need to desist from the ignorant statement about virgins lacking opportunity. All kinds of girls and women have sexx, including UGLY ONES. Men will take it from whoever will give it to them. It is the PRETTY girls who can turn you down because they are not desperate. VIRGINITY IS A CHOICE THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR LACK OF OPPORTUNITY. IT IS A CHOICE. I choose it because if I were a man, I would never ever marry a (promiscuous) woman and have her be the mother of my children, if she has been with other men. Call me old-fashioned. I don't care. That is my and people's values. Live your life and practice your morality and pass it down to your children. But do not scoff at other people's values. You virgin-haters sound very ignorant. You don't know anything about virgins because a typical virgin will never discuss it with you; it is something she saves for her husband and it is no one else's business. |
