CodeTemplar:You're like a baby who washes only his belly when asked to bathe. Can't see beyond your immediate experience. Critical thinking is not limited to the creation only of modern technology. Before the industrial revolution of the 18th century, there was critical thinking. Sophisticated political, economic, and social systems were developed. Trade systems and protocols were developed. International shipping was developed. Well planned cities with glorious architecture, including pyramids, tunnels, and monuments, were developed. Magnificent works of art were developed. All of that required CRITICAL THINKING. It required the knowledge and use of mathematics, geometry, astronomy, geography, law, philosophy, engineering, architecture, and other disciplines to create the civilizations of the ancient world, many of which existed right here in Africa. Without all that Critical Thinking - wrought development, there could be no modern world, and there would have been no industrial revolution. Humans have lived on earth for a minimum of 50,000 years, and you are trying to say that it was only in the last 200 years of ''western'' civilization that critical thinking started, with the ''white man''? Do you realise there is evidence of high technology existing thousands of years ago? When the ''white man'' was still in his caves? Have you heard of the Baghdad battery? A WORKING battery that was dated to 2000 years ago? There is pretty convincing evidence that the ancient Egyptians - ancient blacks - used electricity. And no one till today can explain how on earth they built those mighty pyramids. Even suggestions of ancient flight persist. Heard of the Vimanas described in ancient Hindu texts dating thousands of years? These are flying craft described with stunning accuracy, and meeting today's standards and specifications for aerodynamics. So shed your colonial complex and embrace the fact that 'critical thinking' is as old as humanity itself, and is not limited to ''white people''. |
CodeTemplar:Very ignorant comment. It took critical thinking to build Benin City, a city that had streetlights 300 years before London, and was compared at its 15th century peak to Amsterdam and Lisbon. A city that had multi-storey buildings, underground drainage, and was surrounded by a rampart and wall that is rated the second largest human construction on earth after the Great Wall of China. That took critical thinking. It took critical thinking to create the world famous Ife Bronzes, the Benin Bronzes, and the Igbo-Ukwu Bronzes, all considered by experts worldwide to be at the very top echelon of human artistic accomplishments. I could go on.. I really hope the govt will reintroduce the study of AFRICAN HISTORY to our schools so we stop seeing embarrassing posts like yours on NL. |
One thing we must remember in this discussion is that human beings are Spiritual Beings living a temporary 'physical' existence as earth humans. Our physical world is not the 'real world'. The Real World is the spirit world, which some call heaven. There, there are TRILLIONS of spirit beings. We on earth are just a tiny few who decided to live as humans for one reason or the other, mostly either to learn or to teach something beneficial to the evolution of the soul. Earth is like a brief virtual reality program from the spirit world perspective. In fact it is said that spirits, when they 'die' as humans, 'wake up' into the spirit world and their earth lives feel like a short dream they had. When we 'die' we simply return home to the spirit world from where we came. Our real home. When we look at 'evil on earth' from that perspective, we can start to see how rather INCONSEQUENTIAL it all is to the Creator of All That Is. From OUR perspective as humans on earth, 'evil' is a really terrible, horrible thing, and rightfully so. But from the level of Ultimate Reality, from the level of Spirits, and the realms of heaven, 'evil' is a mere blip in an obscure computer simulation called 'Life on Earth'. Perhaps some weird extra feature included in the software to make the 'game' more ..meaningful to its spirit participants, on the basis that there was no point replicating the idyllic, Utopian conditions of heaven in the game. What then would be the point of it? |
theoriginalgood:Dude, EVERYBODY survives what we call 'death'. Put aside your bible for a second. Your traditional religions KNOW that death is merely a transition to a higher form of existence, and that the soul is immortal. All the ancient religions KNEW it, from the ancient Egyptians to the Nubians, to the Aztecs, the Buddhists, the Hindus, and the Greeks. Even today, Near Death Experiencers have confirmed that when the body dies, the awareness/soul/consciousness, continues to exist. The bible contains the lie that you can experience this NATURAL TRANSITION only if you ''believe in Jesus''. This lie was a political ploy by the Council of Nicaea in ancient Rome, to gather as many converts as possible. This council, created by Roman emperor, Constantine, was instrumental in altering much of those texts, and including falsehoods therein, as well as selecting which texts were included in the 'bible' and which texts weren't. So you really should take the stuff you read in the bible with a large pinch of salt. |
KiZiie:Oh shut it. The train does not look like a ''US community discarded locomotive'', you lying twit. And if you don't wanna ride on it, that's your business. And ''all the oil money'' only adds up to a 22 billion USD annual budget for a country of 200 million people compared to say South Africa's annual budget of 103 billion USD for its 55 million population, so we are nowhere near as rich as you think we are. |
DBlackCeazer:Because you are a slave-minded fool, who thinks speaking with an English accent makes one a ''better'' speaker. Rubbish. |
gidgiddy:But it's okay for them to kill OTHER people from OTHER countries who are innocent, like Iraqis and Afghans for instance? Or give weapons to warlords in Congo and Rwanda to engage in ethnic massacres? Sorry but you are still a murderer whether you're killing ''your own people'', or ''people from other countries''. In fact it can be argued that you are more savage and barbaric for killing innocent foreigners. |
Houstency:Yeah, but where are all these New York Times investigators when US troops are wiping out whole populations in the Middle East? The guy asked a good question and wasn't 'derailing' anything. Afterall all human lives are equal. |
Naive people, The same America that ''respected'' you went behind your back and winched you, using their intelligence agencies to impose the leaders who succeeded Balewa, like OBJ.... Mugu people. I wonder when you will wake up and realise that those western nations you love and worship so much do not necessarily have your best interests in mind. |
South Africa EARNS MORE MONEY than Nigeria per annum. South Africa's annual budget is USD 103.3 BILLION Nigeria's annual budget is USD 22 BILLION https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_government_budget South Africa has a diversified economy. Nigeria is still a mono-product economy, although in the process of diversification. |
jesusjnr:If you are still at the level where you automatically equate non-belief in Jesus with ''atheism'', then you have a very long way to go in this subject. By the way, do you realise that there are thousands of belief systems outside of christianity which accept the existence of a Creator? Did you watch the video? I'm surprised you said ''unfounded'', as there is tremendous evidence therein - not to mention healthy doses of common sense, that should make you examine/question what you've been indoctrinated with. Jesus may be a 'real character' in Judaism, but that was because their book is simply reporting the history of the era, in which the Romans claimed this person had existed. The Jewish writers had no reason to dispute that such a person had existed in the past as claimed by the Romans. They just didn't regard this person - whoever he was - as their messiah. |
jesusjnr:What's so unbelievable about that? If they could fabricate his existence, why should building a few tourist sites be a problem? Especially when such sites attract millions of tourists per annum, meaning money? By the way, it was the Romans that named this character the ''King of the Jews'', not the Jews themselves who never recognised this 'Messiah', and still do not till today, as they practice Judaism, not christianity. Funny how Nigerians worship a ''king of the Jews'' whom the 'Jews' themselves don't accept as their king. Meanwhile, the long and short of that video is that the Jews were under brutal Roman occupation for many years, and in that time, they had expectations of a militant Messiah that would come and fight/destroy Roman rule. In this time, writings by pro-Roman authors like the Flavians and Josephus began circulating about a messiah that had ALREADY COME AND GONE, or ascended, decades earlier, who was a pacifist. Who asked the Jews to ''turn the other cheek'', and to ''give unto Caesar what is Caesar's''. Of course the Jewish population rejected the story of this suspiciously pro-Roman 'messiah', but small groups of Roman sponsored Jews accepted it, and began propagating the tale near and wide. That was the birth of 'Christianity'. It was invented in order to pacify the Jews, and reduce their militancy. Christianity has served the same purposes down to this day, serving as a pacifier to oppressed peoples who would otherwise rise up against their oppressors and exploiters. |

Why is Rome the christian capital? Because Christianity is the white man's religion. It had nothing to do with any historical occurrences in the Middle East. The Jesus story is a total myth. That is why 'Jesus' is shown as a white European even though there were no white European settlements in the ancient middle east or ancient Israel. Djyucee1:But she lives in BILLION DOLLAR PALACES filled with gold and silver, and her estimated net worth is over fifty billion dollars. In England traffic is stopped for miles around when her convoy is passing. How does a picture of her driving any type of car in private, new or old, deviate from the fact that she lives a highly OSTENTATIOUS and PRIVILEGED life? Do you think that is how she usually gets around, by driving herself in an old car? HOW DUMB CAN YOU BE? See how easily one photograph sends you into a frenzy of white worshiping and self loathing? What ''simplicity'' are you talking about? Go to Europe and America and see how their rich live. There is NO ''SIMPLICITY'' about their lifestyles. It is highly ostentatious and luxurious. I can't believe how dumb so many of you are, with your stupid idolisation of white people and your wretched colonial mentality. Better get off your ignorance and dumbitude and realise that they are human beings just like you, created by the same God. |
KingSango, you are indeed a man of great knowledge and wisdom. Kudos for this thread. ![]() |
Cheikh Anta Diop is a legend of African history. No need to ask any questions regarding his research and findings. Just watch/read and learn. |
i just love the way Nigerians still honour their culture and history. We don't even know what we have. In many African countries colonialism knocked out all those things. |
Holumhidey:Don't mind him. I don't even know why he's still our coach. Maybe because he's oyibo. Msshew. |
Groovenaija360:Grow up. |
Bolowolowo:Shut your stupid mouth. Whites governed your own country for nearly a hundred years, and at the end you were still an underdeveloped bush with no electricity, schools or roads. Where was their 'magic'? Why were we not like Canada or Australia at independence? The only reason YOU are not a village palm wine tapper today is that blacks won independence in your country, and however flawed the leaders, they ensured SOME reasonable development occurred, including the building of thousands of schools and universities that ensured you did not end up like your illiterate grandfather did under white rule. One thing people like you need to get into your colonised heads is that white people will govern in THEIR interest. For THEIR profit and development, NOT YOURS. You are not white. So they will not develop your country if they ruled over you. They will just exploit it. Your own history shows this. Your first power plant in Nigeria - Kainji Dam - was commissioned in 1964, by the Tafawa Balewa administration. The British had been ruling since 1897 up till 1960, and had not built a power plant in all that time, despite exporting the same amount of resources that succeeding govts did, which later went to help build the infrastructure you see today. So you need to grasp the fact that none but ourselves can lift our circumstances. You have no 'friends' outside your country who care about you more than your own leaders, however 'corrupt' those leaders may be. All you will get from outside is people who will be ten times worse. Because nobody can love you more than you love yourself. Fact of life. Oh, and please spare us that ''Africa's breadbasket'' nonsensical western propaganda on Zimbabwe. It was NEVER Africa's ''breadbasket'', whatever the hell that means. The white farmers who owned ninety percent of the land prior to Mugabe's land reforms, grew mostly cash crops like tobacco and coffee for export, with most of the returns going into private white pockets. Mugabe put an end to that with his Land Reforms, and that was why he was demonised by the west, with sanctions imposed on his country. But the Zimbabwe economy is rebounding, and the land is more fairly distributed, with more black Zimbabweans having a stake in their country's future. That's far superior 'governance' to the wretched inequalities the former white leaders promoted. |
Coloradvantage:''Getting good results'' indeed. You must be living on the moon. The US stock market just saw its biggest drop in ten years two days ago, and the govt has been shut down, with millions of federal workers left without salary this christmas, while the dictator is demanding five billion dollars from their Congress to build a stupid wall on the southern border which no sane person in America wants. All this in addition to his being under multiple criminal investigations for money laundering, fraud, and treason. |
Good job. |
History as Lagos-Ibadan Standard Gauge Rail Line is Test Run December 19, 2018 ..................................https://i1.wp.com/www.promptnewsonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/15174776606200-e1517477780187.jpg?resize=361%2C240 The Honourable Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi on Tuesday, in the company of members of the House of Representatives Committee on Land Transport, completed 32 kilometers of the test run of the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail. This was even as the Minister of Transportation assured that the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and some ministers will ride the train from Iju in Lagos to Abeokuta in Ogun State by the first week of January 2019. Speaking to journalists on Tuesday in Abeokuta after disembarking from the rail car that was used for the test run, an elated Amaechi thanked everybody that started the rail modernisation project with him. According to the Minister of Transportation, “You will recall that when we started, the whole place was a huge forest. But now, we have bridges across those waters we used to drive through. “We thank the Chinese for this level of technology, but it's high time we need to start building our own roads and bridges ourselves. Other countries are doing it, we cannot continue to depend on other people to develop our country. “Today, I give credit to you the media for the efforts that have been put into this project since inception. “Many times, while on inspection, buses conveying the journalists break down, and the convoy leaves the bus behind. I want to thank and appreciate all the journalists for their sacrifices on these project. “We are gradually coming to the end of the project. We are just six kilometres away from Abeokuta, and I have been assured that by the first week of January 2019, the Vice President and some ministers will be able to ride on the train from Iju to Abeokuta. “By the end of January, we expect to have commenced passenger train ride to Abeokuta. After then, we will begin to mount pressure on the contractor to build the stations. “I have told the contractor to focus on building one track instead of building the two-laned tracks at the same time in order to avoid delay. After building one track, it will be put to use while the other track is been built. “I want to also appreciate the members of the National Assembly who joined us today on this inspection. “Today, the test run started from kilometre 41 and stopped at kilometre 73, meaning we did 32 kilometres of rail movement on the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail. In the next two to three weeks, we will get to Abeokuta. For Iju, once the contractor completes a bridge in that area, we will just need another 14kilometer to get there. So by the first week in January, we should get to Iju. “If the contractor continues to work at this pace that they are currently doing, we should get to Ibadan by the end of January. If we get to Ibadan, we will continue to run a free train ride on the standard gauge from Iju to Ibadan.” On possible cost overrun, the Honourable Minister explained that all cost overrun will soon be forwarded to the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP). “We will soon be compiling the extra costs spent on the project and forward to the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) for necessary action. Extra costs like the demolition of the military barracks in Yaba, Lagos; demolished buildings in Abeokuta and many more,” Amaechi added. The Chairman, House Committee on Land Transport Abdulmumin Jibrin commended the Honourable Minister of Transportation for a job well done. In his words, “With what we have seen today, we will like to commend the Minister for a job well done. My only disappointment is that the giant strides achieved on this project are grossly underreported.” https://uncova.com/32km-of-lagos-ibadan-rail-test-run-completed |
NarnieSnyper:What has ''blacks hate their fellow blacks'' got to do with this topic, you self-hating imbe.cile? What sort of stupid hypothetical question are you evoking by saying ''what would the FA do if blah blah blah?'' The one that has happened in your front - a white guy throwing a banana skin at a black player - you are running away from, looking for which black people to attack instead. You are a sick person. Go and cure your self-hatred, or you can go bleach your skin white to be closer to your slave-master. Ode. |
NarnieSnyper:Why not? You can be black and still hate your own kind and be racist against your kind. I feel for the guy sha. What if truly it was the anger that just made him pick any object banana skin) and threw at Aube, without no racism intendedI'll just put this down to your massive ignorance. People like you really need to study beyond what you know in Naija. There are millions of people out there in the world who hate you and will hate you simply because of your skin colour. Get that into your naive little skull, you hear? |
