Pls how many coaches of blocks is better after lintel for a storey building? Is it the normal 2 blocks coaches or 3 coaches of blocks before decking? Also in standard, how many bags of cement will do for casting of 16pillars of 9" inches columns.

For a good and appropriate height use 2 blocks course plus the beam under slab making the height 3….. which mean from lintel top you will have about 2.5ft which is ok

Same height was used here and after Pop ceiling I still have adequate room height ( pics attached)

For the column you asked if you are using
Ratio 1:2:4 you will need 1.5 approx bag of cement
Means the total 16 pillar will be 16*1.5bags =24bags
Add waste like 2bags or so… =26bags of cement

Yes, only the L shape was measured and there are no recess walls. The length of the building hasn't been measured, but there are 13 blocks coaches height if counted. The building has equal sides.

With hight of 3.3m and others measurement you send you will used

20 bags @ 20mm thickness, ratio 1:6
OR
12 bags @ 12mm thickness . ratio 1:6

You don’t need to add waste here bcs your widow and door opening will cover that

I want to plaster the walls of the 3 bedroom bungalow measuring 39ft by 49ft.. Please what will be the total sqm and how many bags of cement will I need for plastering and later on screeding? Below is the sample design.

Like someone said above, we need someone reliable to b around our project, imagine a bricklayer decided to measure 15 headpan of sand for 1 bag of cement for setting blocks contrary to 12 headpan of sand Instructed nd when confronted he refused to measure the stipulated portion claiming it's a standard until we change it for him big time nd treating to sack him before he heed to our instructions to measure 12headpan. We need to b around because these guys are foolish pple and are ready to do away with our materials if chanced.

My Comrade we have seen a lot in this field, May God help us all.
At times when you go for cement bag counting as charges … they are ready to waste your cement I.e when a slab required 10bags of cement they will make it like 13 bags or more in other to increase there payment at the end of the daily work.
Someone need to be vigilant always.

Of course yes, practically speaking, 12 headpan of sand to 1 bag of cement will set 55 numbers of 9" inch blocks

You are very correct, bravo you …. if you try manage your waste very well with 25mm joint … you can achieve like 60 blocks or so

Yes, the mix ratio is vey simple my “BABA LATI bricklayer SON even know this …. More so if the sharp sand is lighter in nature , go for ratio 1:5= 10 head pan.

It’s good to follow due process, building supposed to last btw 70-100yrs or more

This is nicely done. Only now need a lick of paint to really bring out the true beauty.

Just academically speaking, if na my money I will do two things differently:

#1. I will not go for a flat room.

#2. I will fix a ceiling to floor burglary proof downstairs (see highlighted area in red). Why? It is an additional layer of security. In Nigeria, I don't like visitors knocking on my front door directly. Knock on the burglary proof first, then I open door and there is a buffer security zone between myself and yourself instead of you standing right at my door step. Frontage ceiling to floor burglary proof also offers flexibility of use. I can jail the burglary proof and open the door for aeration or breeze as the case may be and still have that sense of security.

But this is just academic. It is a nicely built house.

Yes I get you right, I have done many like that for some client while some don’t buy the idea, it’s based on Choice.
