@Pumping, M&B's forward P/E is like 48 o (projected PAT of about 250, which I believe is fair)! None of the health sector stocks have great fundamentals. Neimeth was good for a 20% cico (like 15% post commission) between last week and early this week tough, but  I won't invest in any of those medium term o, unless there's something good in the offing.
Infact their Forward PE is 49.5 based on projected FYE PAT of N233M and listed shares 0.7B. At current price the trailing PE is 65!

Unless what wanaj0 said about this company is going to contribute to the upside i dont see this one going anywhere yet at least in terms of Fundamentalysis. Although the PAT increased by a whopping 173%!

Candidly speaking the candlestick pattern is Bullish Harami Cross or Bullish Harami Doji meaning it is 'pregnant' and ready for bullish run how long the turn-around will last is anybody's guess. 'Harami' is the japanese word for pregnant as Prof Aktopcandle said in one of his earlier posts.

I will be careful with this one though plenty of turbulence ahead. For CICO Hmnnnnnnn but in terms of the fundamentals dont know what will drive the price of this one !

@roughcut

You see with an uptrend showing a dragonfly doji, its not a good thing at all and is interpreted as profit takers descending on the stock, hence the long shadow. this would take pre-eminence over any renewed buying that may have occured today
You are quite correct about it being a bearish reversal pattern but this pattern after a long uptrend shows selling pressure increasing.
Quite correct but the buying pressure was more than the selling pressure today and hence the closing price was the same as the high of today. In a few more days the sellers will definitely out-do the buyers and we begin to see the much feared downward slide.

Haba! we said sell half @N65 and the thing don climb to N68 wetin you dey wait for? Infact i will be selling the other half before end of March. It will get to N70 no doubt but i think there might be  turbulence ahead and it looks like its going to hit before end of March.

@RoughCut u see the Costain volume today compared to the past month? looks like folks are selling now, and the TA pattern looks like a reversal is near. I might just sell the half on Friday abi greed go make me risk am til monday since monday is also a good NSE day to sell huh
This is a classic example of a Dragon fly doji(Dragongly) sellers dominated trading and drove the the prices lower during the trading session as low as N61.73 but by the end of the session the buyers resurfaced and pushed the price back to the high of  N68.21. You can see from the charts that the high is exactly the same as the closing. The long lower shadow  is evidence there is buying pressure but the low of N61.73 tells you that there are still plenty of sellers looming as you can see from the trade volumes today. The long black candlestick signals a potential bearish reversal.

RSI is 89.53 definitely OVERBOUGHT. If the sellers that are lurking overpower the buyers tomorrow you can gues what's going to happen to the stock

The closing price is well above the upper Bollinger Band  of  N65.55 so in a few more days you can expect a downside.

eniyanman:
@RoughCut,

1. It is conceivable that the portfolio could fall by more than 20%. Assume it has fallen by 19% and it falls another 5% and still no buyer, it could potentially lose more,

I made a specific reference to 20% because that is one of the requirements   for UBA Shareplus scheme. If your portfolio falls below 20% its not UBA's problem all they need to do is ask the borrower to return the loan so that way they recoup their capital. UBA charges 17% interest and i think 1 or 2%  management fee. If your portfolio falls by more than 20% it means their profit is disappearing fast and that's the reason they make sure the value of the portfolio in which their investment is does not fall below a certain threshold. If there's no buyer for the stocks in the portfolio UBA will not sell it all they are going to do is ask for the money they lent the borrower back so its the borrower's headache on how to liquidate the stock to recoup his money back

2. In the case highlighted above, the equity contribution only minimises the banks exposure. It doesn't eliminate it. Consider vis-a-vis negative equity.

Negative equity is not the bank's problem it is the borrower/investor's once the lender is not making the returns they expect because the value of the portfolio is such that it cannot pay the interest they are charging they will just recall their loan facility at least that way they preserve their capital which they have loaned in the first place and they continue to manage the portfolio for you so whether it drops 20 or 50% you can see it is the borrower's problem and not the lender

3. If it represents a large part of their profits, then I want to avoid investing in those banks. But as wanaj0 talk am, it's a small part of their profit.

Individual investors on the NSE who use margin facilty  are miniscule compared to other categories of investors. Let's face it the big players on the NSE are the Institutional investors, Hedge funds, Private equity outfits etc etc and of course the pension funds. Trust me the margin facilities by the banks represent an insignificant proportion of the banks' loan portfolio .

4. My reference to sub-prime is more with respect to the losses they (banks) could suffer and not regarding credit classification. Credit score no dey Nigeria now.

Losses arising from margin facilities will not dent the banks' profits and that cannot even happen because as i said earlier they will recall or recoup the facility as soon as the value of the  portfolio is below the threshold that can pay the interest on the loan

eniyanman:
as the market don rise too much, e must fall very much too. as bear/fear enter, people rush out evening closing their positions on fundamental stocks to cover losses elsewhere.

@wanaj0, wendy, pumping, samstone, topgun et al,
regarding all these share-loans,
1. how do the banks protect themselves if the portfolio value of the client falls below the minimum allowed?

I know for a fact that for the UBA Share Plus loan the value of your portfolio must not fall by more than 20% if that happens they will recall the facility

2. is there is any other collateral?

The collateral is your equity contribution

3. how much do the banks depend on these sorts of loans. typically what % of their annual profit is this?

Not sure how useful this information is for you but don't know by the way

4. which banks have the most exposure to this market, i dey fear another sub-prime o

Lenders classify borrowers as prime and  sub-prime when they have information as to the credit history of a prospective borrower where there is a comprehensive credit rating database which as far am aware  is just been introduced in Nigeria so don't know where the sub-prime is coming from in Nigeria
