I got this from the live programme beamed from the floor of the NSE on AIT, i was just flicking through and got only part of the gist. Err, i don't want to be seen as a messenger of doom. Don't want any referrals to Aktopgun & blueband grin. It might just be one of the plants being shut down, certainly not the newly installed radial tyre plant.
Ah Thank God for that clarification. Well it makes sense if they have a new multi-billion radial tyre plant and they need to shut down old and probably unprofitable/unproductive plants so be it.

The problem is with the way the info was disseminated. Sometimes the presentation is as important as the substance.

Catch my drift?

What is this gist going round on Dunlop? Retrenchment, factory closing etc Is this part of the strategic turn-around? I hope the board-aspirant on here is on top of the goings-on in Dunlop.
I beg where you get this one from o? Enlighten the house. They have just spent N8B most of the proceeds from the last PO on a radial tyre plant

thanks for your anticipated reply.[/quote]Someone has already posted the phone number so i wont bother repeating it again but in case you having difficulty getting though try this other number 01-815 2470.  i noticed you are abroad  so what you do if you cant physically attend is write a letter of authorization for someone you trust with the details of your application and signed by you then ask the person to take the letter with their identification to the GTB branch where you purchased the shares and your cheque must be waiting there for you

@Roughcut,

I didnt quite get the NHFTF (?)  bit. !
I meant the National Housing Federation Trust Fund. You seem knowledgeable on these things as per some of your posts i have read. Apparently you need to be paying about 2.5% of your salary into the fund to be able to qualify for preferential mortage rates. I no dey get salary for Nigeria so would like to know how it worked for you.

I will yarn with you later back to watching the NSE and its gyrations grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

So na only quick hit ABC dey for innit? or na for medium term - This apear to be headed maiduguri ooo I just don't get the hype?

Both of you agree Beta Glass na good one for medium term?? fundamentals but no CICO action.

Anyone wey get ear, dey load Bank stock now oooo - They will deliver.
If the hype surrounding ABC is true its very good for CICO. If you want BetaGlass for medium-long term you go wait small make him offload the contraband wey him carry.
But we spoke about ABC about 2 weeks ago na. You for don make your 25% commot

So you no dey for CICO and RO-RO?

I am comparing Niwicable/ Beta glass/ABC for a hit?

I only want to hit one -

Which is most attractive at current prices?

I already have my favourite but want others contributions
If you havent hit ABC do so in the next 2 days if the rumours of an impending PO are confirmed you know what's going to happen. Fundamentally BetaGlass appears most attractive but i think that one don dey fly now and NiwiCable hmnnnnn  the jury is out on that one. And you know as well as i do fundamentals and good results do little or nothing on the NSE nowadays.

I get ABC and Niwicable. Go for the Alphabets for a quick hit

If the volumes are thinning out it means the reversal may be fleeting. You need more volumes to sustain the bullish reversal which means i would be able get some more at the nearest bus-stop. I wont be surprised if the reversal does not last more than a couple of days

NOT QUITE A SPINNING TOP CUZ TO BE A SPINNIG TOP You SHOULD LOOK AT THE LENGHT OF THE BODY IN RELATION TO THE LENGHT OF THE CANDLE TAILS. IN TODAYS CANDLE PATTERN, THE UPWARD TAIL IS MUCH TOO SHORT.

HAVING SAID THAT, THE CANDLE PATTERN IS STILL GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME TO BE HAPPY FOR DUNLOP CICOs
Right actually i think they call this formation mysterious/long shadows abi? The long lower shadow means the buyers were able to whip the sellers into submission and drove the closing above the opening price

Like you i'm happy with what's going on grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Dunlop did a spinning top and considering that this is within the context of a downturn i expect that the price will start creeping up again it did a
reasonable volume and the bulls are definitely back to kick buttsthey are ready to whip the bears into submission

ABC did a RED MARUBOZU today which is a definite confirmation of the BULLISH REVERSAL that started last friday so i'm afraid its still going to shed a few more pounds and KG's in the days ahead. The volumes is thinning out so that's a bit hmnnnnnnnnnn

. Next week Monday and this week has another 2 days of holidays. Many folks like to sell before closure of the register instead of waiting endlessly for the bonus shares and dividends.
A lot of peeps also like to sell before the dividends are applied because the price will be marked down by the dividend paid and you also have to pay taxes on your dividends so no show there!

I hope he has stopped that nonsense with paying dividends quarterly

Ladies and Gentlemen of the forum, introducing . . .

UNITED NIGERIA TEXTILES PLC
3RD QUARTER STATEMENT FOR THE
PERIOD ENDED SEPTEMBER 30TH 2007
                        2007          2006
TURNOVER                 N13.866b      N13.583b
PROFIT BEFORE TAXATION  (N755.698m)   (N56.648m)
TAXATION                  NIL           NIL
PROFIT AFTER TAXATION   (N755.698m)   (N56.648m)

This result bad no be small.

A friend of mine wanted to do one quick cico on this stock last week, na so I come warn am say "results will be out soon, and I don't expect the results to be good o, so stay clear"  grin. In retrospect, I guess I was right. Wey my phone sef, make I go collect my bottle of wine  cheesy. But then again, with this NSE sef, the stock price might still keep moving up despite the result.

Happy weekend everyone!
Did you say Bad? This is a cataclysm of titanic proportions wish i could find a stronger adjective to qualify the qualifier shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

They have managed to increase their 3Q losses by 1248%!

To imagine that this was a stock that was on an extended bull-run a  while ago on this  same NSE beggars belief!

I need to issue a buy mandate on Monday, what to buy what to buy
ABC
Dunlop
Chellarams?
Beta Glass?
Dunlop and ABC are CICO but with ABC you need to be careful though especially if the rumours of an impending PO start gaining currency you can expect an upside to  the price on the short run there are also rumours of a bonus and new businesses  but know when to get out!

I'm in there by the way

Chellarams and Beta Glass are fundamentally strong and will pass both CICO and medium-long term tests. Infact i have a forward PE of 14.3 for Chellarams and 17.2 for Beta Glass sure the selection looks reasonable to me
