@Windywendy - Based on the restructuring at Niwicable as described below, I came up with 1.1B shares that will be oustanding. Is this any way near what you have?

-------
So when we finish the exercise of restructuring, the shareholding structure will be Truebond, 62 percent equity, Odua Investment, 15 percent and the remaining 23 percent will be held by15,640 Nigerians
--------
According to Guru Emeritus easimoni's spreadsheet 1.1B shares were created to accommodate Truebond 62% stake in addition to what was already on the ground so i have in total 1.6B shares for Niwicable huh huh huh huh

So i would like to reframe your timeframe and say that 13-36 months is actually long-term and medium term is 4-12 months and RO-RO is 0-3 months and anything in between

By the way i have some banking stocks i bought in '04 and dey still dey kampe for inside my portfolio  that is methusellah in my books grin grin grin grin grin

Livestock, - No. I think profit takers will hit around N10
Tourist and Co, - Did you hear something? They are not performing abi na low nominal price u wan go for?
G. Cappa  - Yes, if you can get.

These are the one I was planning to increase my takes in;

Unic, Yes, the price has dropped to an attractive level. If the price drops continue more openings will come in this sector.
Union Homes, - No. Can't think of a good reason for entering now. Full year results may not be out till August.
Dunlop - No idea about this one. It appears fairly priced now if they can meet up with projected earnings based on the last PO. I don't think this is the time to join the train.

Overall I think you should wait another couple of days to see the direction this market is going. Some stocks are taking a very hard hit. You want to be picking these stocks up as low a price as possible.

Also, don't over analyze or you end up buying nothing.

Instead of Tourist and Co go buy Ikeja Hotels but wait small make he drop further since the 1Q is not till March  and results are not expected till May at the earliest so you can afford to wait that one out!

Livestock na risky RO-RO or CICO as for G.cappa  marshall wanaj0 na him dey run things for that one grin grin grin grin grin

I guess it’s my newly acquired knowledge that is disturbing me, previously to my new knowledge on Nairaland I just jump into stocks without reading fundamentals or do any technical analysis; I just enter into stocks based on my own personal sentiments.
I was the one that bought Afroil and Capoil (based on the fact that the names carries OIL) I was able to made more than 3000% each on the stocks.

Nowadays I have to check and double check before I make a move; I guess ignorance sometimes do have its positive side.

Here under are the stocks I am contemplating to enter;
Livestock,
Tourist and Co,
G. Cappa

Meanwhile, Mass Telecom Innovation Limited has commenced the private placement of 1,481,481,482 ordinary shares at N2.70 per share.

The Executive Vice-Chairman of the Company, Mr. Frank Karkitie, said in a statement on Monday, that as a player in the competitive communication industry, the major way it could make impact, was to open its ownership to the public.

The private placement, which closes on March 14, Kartikie said was to enable the firm expand its technology.

Got this from punchonline. This must be what uncle napo was talking about. I never hear of this coy before.
How different is this company  from Interswitch or CHAMs for that matter Anyone in the know?

From what i read on their websiteGoogled it they are more like a Telecomms service/engineering company. I suppose they will be  getting a lot of contracts from the BIG BOYZ who are the Mobile Telephony and Network service providers or the licencees. I'm referring to Visafone, Mubadalla, Starcomms, Multi-links, MTN, Globalcom, V-mobile, Celtel.

I wont be surprised if this company gets swallowed  up by one of the playas cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool

You can read more about them http://www.mtinigeria.com/index.html

@ Roughcut,

If you get the above units for the above companies, you no need to do the above thing retiring to your farm, instead you just wait for the above portfolio to appreciate then offload and buy up an ailing CDMA telecom company and turn it to a BTS 3.5G network and have your own 0702-X number, then you can retire to your farm wink wink wink wink wink wink
I'm assuming you are into Telecomms! Well the idea is like you said wait for a few years and hopefully would have completed my MBA and see how much the holdings will be worth and i'm sure there will be some ailing compan(ies) not necessarily telecomms in need of cash-injection to turn them around.

Thats the plan and i thank God i have been blessed to work with some of the most-well known management and turn-around consultancies all over the place so i have some experience in that area!

So you can see that my £40K outlay  for an Oxford MBA will pay off at some point grin grin grin grin grin grin

I have to gatecrash the party first!

Talking about Union Diagnostics hmnnnnn, I think you only need to read the prospectus and you kind of realise those guys are more or less a monopoly in the Medical Diagnostics and Radiological space and i liked the business model they were planning to adopt including tendering for some of the out-sourced contracts from the government/state hospitas in  short it was good all round.

In actual fact Union Diagnostics and Costain had some of the best business models i have had the opportunity to come across as far as 2007 goes!

Hmnnn i havent checked if i have i have my certificate for Union Diagnostics PP  i bought some heavy-duty units so can't complain.

The Union Diagnostics PP was on around the same as the ludicrous Dangote Flour IPO.

I think i'm just going to write a cheque for a charity for Dangote returned money as part of my thanks-giving celebration for 2007!

I'm immuned to PO/IPO's now any contact with them gives me terrible skin rash cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

@Elder Napoleon

Please Elder we are still  waiting for any info on Starcomms, Multi-links and Interswitch. My retirement plans hinge on my getting a piece of the action of the aforementioned! Not that i have reached retirement age though nothing wrong with retiring early

All of una  on this thread go join me celebrate thanksgiving o!still trying to work out the logistics though  grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

For folks using NigerianSecurities to manage their portfolio, when you sell a stock do you just delete it from the online portfolio?

Is there a way to end-date the stock, without deleting so I can keep historical records of my purchase?
Reduce the stock by the units of units you have sold and if there's nothing left just put in zero and the tool should update automatically.

federal palace hotel (conveniently located on the island) is why i like ikeja hotel. hopefully they can finish the renovation and the cash till can start ringing. also, ikeja hotel seem to have a decent profit margin. also i think a large part is owned by the ibru family. these guys run good businesses.
The enitire Ibru family are the majority shareholders in Ikeja Hotels and they also own Sheraton Hotels and Towers in Ikeja strategically located  not far from the Airport.

Until I know what makes Ikeja hotels better than Tourist and Co, I will watch from a distance. Something is just not right!! For all intent and purposes those two companies are the same!!!!
I may be wrong but from what i have been able to cobble together the Tourist Company of Nigeria TCN used to own Federal Palace Hotels in VI until 1992 when TCN was sold to Ikeja Hotels Plc and now Federal Palace Hotels is one of the jewels in Ikeja Hotels crown. Ikeja hotels now owns 31% of TCN which i assume is the same company you are referring to.

Infact part of the proceeds from Ikeja Hotels PLc PO in '06 will be used to pay for their  51% stake in Abuja Sheraton Hotels + Towers.

I can't understand why Abuja Sheraton is profitable while NICON-NOGA also in Abuja is a loss-making albatross for Transcorp huh huh huh huh huh huh

I would have thought UBA will get the MUBADALLA account because of the Osagie connection to both companies.
I suppose it helped that FBN has a capitalization N1tr . When those guys are ready to hit the market they will be looking for millions if not billions in dollars so having a bank that is capitalized to the tune of N1tr as a partner will look good in the international financial markets.

Telecomms business no be for small boys na grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin
