Yet, going by the structure of our society today that heralds the traditional idea of what marriage should be as regards gender roles, it's not just the women who are its victims. And the women, submissive, docile to become career home keeper... To the extent that everything about them is attributed to the goodliness or prowess of their husbands. [/color] So, if a woman or a man doesn't play by the conditioning of society, seeks to live as they desire, there would be partners who are conditioned, would deem them "deviants." Fortunately, the "deviants" would find more happiness in a "deviant" partner. However, if a "deviant" woman thinks she can live as she wants while being a wife to a conditioned man, there won't be happiness in her relationship, but clashes of interests. So, it is either she swallows her expectations and plays by the rules of society or gets out. To truly live, we have to make our own rules, pick up those things that give us fulfillment, forsake the societal idea of gender roles, and look beyond the norm. |

His white shirt was soaking in sweat and leaving imprints of his white singlet. The ceiling fan wasn't doing a good job, and neither was the air conditioner functioning. He never liked sitting at a spot and giving a command, the field was where he was comfortable, towering before frightened enemies and snuffing life out of them, especially with his bare hands was the sweetest thing in the world. Now, he was gaining fat in places he never believed. The man as large as three people and as tall as two, sat by a brown mahogany desk in a white-painted room that had colorful portraits and two resin heads affixed to the wall behind him. His forehead, shiny from sweat reached into his breast pocket and fished out a kerchief. This office had neither witnessed his presence nor that of the three men sitting at the twin divans set before a black-varnished table. And like the big man, they looked less gloomy almost like the semi-automatic rifles they laid on the table. Ogbuefi stared around the office, disgust etched in his eyes, he had taught Nze Ngalagu had better taste until he had to take over the reins of command for Lakeport at this critical time. The office looked superfluous even the resins were fake. He would rather prefer to look at the lawn and flowers lining the frontage of the building than waiting for the call in this crampy but this was not the time to do what you preferred. Today, they must tie loose ends. The interim Nze who had run the operations of Lakeport shortly after the death of the former governor, Nze Ngalagu, had gone missing for the past six hours, none of his stooges could get hold of him, say where he went or what happened to him. When he eventually turned up they were to eliminate him on sight. Then the case of the overzealous copper and Bola. The city was in a mess. This was what he feared when they began showing their might in the open. Okwe Ocha coveted secrecy in their dealings but they had started losing their grip on what had kept prying eyes blind no thanks to the public execution of Nze Ngalagu. Ogbuefi was the only one who objected to such a move at the meeting that decided the fate of Nze Ngalagu. He proposed a more shrewd act of injecting him with a dose of epinephrine but the other Nzes had countered him, they preferred the message to be loud. After much deliberation, the voice of the Ugo crackled through the telephone. He had bought into their idea but with a twist, a policeman was to take the shot before the public... The telephone rang and pulled Ogbuefi from his thoughts. In a second, Ogbuefi's ear was pressed into the receiver. He listened for a minute, nodded, and dropped the call. He waved the boys over, said a few words and they dispersed in urgency. |

Like did God also create foolish things and called them Good when he made the world? You believe it is the word of God, the word has not been written or compiled then... When Paul wrote this letter... So, what word was he talking about? If Christ was the word of God here, did God loose his power when Christ came down? Read the book and see where God called and introduced himself to Abraham, Moses, Jacob, Samuel, and the rest, where he even told several people he was the God of their fathers and gave his name. You should also wonder why His name wasn't Yoruba or Igbo... You would not be a Christian if you were living in the 1500s, but today you are a believer in the God the colonizers beat, threatened, and killed your ancestors to accept... I apologize. If only God had not changed his ways in the New Testament... You would not be thinking that a God of a certain tribe has become yours. Hold on to your belief, don't understand that the power in anything comes from as much belief you feed it... |
