Assorted moments call for celebrations in our lives but I doubt if a birthday is one of them. Why does anyone have to celebrate a day they do not remember what happened? The day they got pushed or taken out of their mother's womb, without even knowing it? Let me blame it on religion first, then the inaccurate calendar that we use. Even if anyone were to celebrate such a day, it should be the woman who put to birth. But, we live in a world where the norm is never interrogated. Everyone must do as others. Shouldn't we celebrate attainments more than birthdays? Yet, birthdays have brought disgrace, enmity, and death to many of us. That we take it so personally alludes to the validity that we are a a miserable bunch of people who lyingly celebrate thrice in a year: the new year, the birth of God, and our birthday. In my own opinion, staying alive or being alive is not an achievement to be celebrated once a year, by all indications it should be by the minute. However, if staying alive were hard, there won't be a need for celebration except if we had poison for drinks. |

That evening Leri and Wynne found themselves at the precinct. They were called in one after the other into a windowless fifteen by twenty-foot room, with three chairs and a table in between, on the table were bottles of water, tape recorders, and writing pads. Tony had been certain Leri knew something, gender says he was the one who killed those men, Ms pretty doesn't cut it for someone who had the gusto although she looked more like a bystander which he suspected was her way of dealing with it. Yet, looking at the man sitting at the other side of the table, he could see him trying hard to compose himself. Another officer who had announced Hammado as his name watched Leri with sullen vigilance while his thick stubby finger thumbed on his pen. He kept at it till he felt the time was right, then he pressed the red record button of the silver tape recorder lying on the table and began, "Start from the beginning." Hammado requested. Leri's Adam's apple did a handspring. He had played that scene over and over again but stringing it to words and spilling it seemed a little difficult. Tony read him enough and passed one of the four bottles of water to him. He had a gulp and another before he began. "About an hour after I had come back from my shift. I was watching a television program when I heard a gunshot. I did not know where it had come from so I turned down the volume of the television and listened. I couldn't hear anything. So, I stepped out of my apartment and had a look around, I did not see anything unusual, but as I turned to go inside I heard more shots. It came from the penthouse. I ran inside, picked up my steel baseball bat, and ran up the stairs. When I got there, I saw the door lying on the floor. Then I saw the bodies..." He faded. Hamodoo who had been doodling all this time looked up and asked, "Where was Ms. Wynne and what was she doing?" "She was behind the couch and holding a gun at me." Detective Tony shifted in his seat, he could not imagine her wielding a gun, talking more about killing the hefty men. "Okay, go on!" Hammado said after passing a glance at his co-interrogator. "She saw it was me and dropped the gun. And I entered. Kerub was on the floor, behind the bar. He was shot and bleeding from his shoulder. We helped him with first aid before you came." He motioned at Tony. *** |

Moh247:This post is incredible. One who doesn't know better would have thought Lagos popped out from BAT's mouth. It's either you know that the state's revenue is split between "the manager" and the residents of the state or you don't know Ikoyi, VGC has been in existence before 1999. Is it logical for a past governor to appoint governors after him? Should a state have a manager or godfather? Has he not infringed the rights of the electorates? |

Our idea of love is wrapped with expectations, trust, and ego, when a partner cheats, all of these jump out the window. And what is left is horrible hurt and rage. That your partner cheated will have your mind overworking and overloaded. That being said, the thought to kill her would seem instinctive given that our idea of love is founded on ownership. Now, we should always remember that we are dynamic beings, who in different situations turn out different, and will change given that we have unlimited desires. For one to stick to a partner, one should be deliberate, no partner can fulfill all your fantasies, not even the naked man on the cross can meet all your needs. And nobody could be owned. If you understand these, you would see the sham relationship reeks off. That it is a selfish arrangement, that could implode over the littlest things. One would always feel constricted within this arrangement except if their constriction is perceived by those in it as their freedom. Nobody acts without thinking, whatever decision they took was the best at that moment they decided but we should also view the possible consequences of everything we decide to do. |
Many people frown at suicide and it's just lip service. The world remains a mess. The suicidal knows the world is selfish, no matter how much they paint a colorful future for them. Traumas, expectations, and losses are more real than apportioning oneself a bit of a God's promise to someone from the Bible. |

While clearing out of the house, I found old typewriters: an IBM selective and a portable typewriter in an unopened bag. What do I do with them? Do I throw them to the garbage, sell them or what? 070 66 070 465 |

Sweetvie you're brilliant can't say much of many other people. Folks should forget the tenets of marriage, they should decide how they want to live with each other and not allow the laid down dictates of an institution that does not take cognisance of the needs and wants of everyone or even the times we are in to lead the way. They should think outside the box of gender roles, nobody is built to be a head or neck, if marriage was like driving, I shouldn't ride shotgun because I am a woman but because I am a better driver than my husband. They have to be deliberate when making decisions to be the life long companion of another person and not compelled to be that way because marriage dedicates faithfulness and crotch privatisation/possession. This is paramount because along the line, partners begin to second guess themselves, regret even as people are influenced by a variety of prejudices and traumatic experiences. Life is too long when we marry wrong, it's even worse for the woman. |
