1. Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Bring Mafioso rap and kung fu style beats together and you get one of the best mafioso rap albums of all time, 2. Big Pun - Capital Punishment https://images.thesource.com.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Big-Pun-Capital-Punishment-Front.jpg Perfect album all-round, Pun at his best. His flow is so spectecular you might want to slow down your music player and don't even mention the lyrics, top notch. 3. Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030 (self titled) Del The funky Homosapien and Dan the Automator take you to the future, the year is 3030 and the music is so ahead of it's time with lyrics that go beyond imagination, the good news is you can listen to this music today and imagine what the year 3030 would be like in music, the bad news is after listening to this album you will look for other albums that sound like this but unfortunately you will never find any. 4. Immortal Technique - Revolutionary Vol.2 If you think revolutionary rap is overrated then listen to this album, the best revolutionary rap album of all time in my opinion. 5. A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders The word maraud means to loot, 7 out of 10 times we listen to music at night, hence the words 'midnight marauders' - *vaguely remembers that line from the album*, quality music, nobody makes it like this anymore. 6. Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons You Paint That Sh1t Gold The name of the album says it all, Album with a title like that can't be wack. 7. Wu tang Clan - Enter the Wu tang(36 chambers) Wu tang dropped this album in '93. They came up with a style never heard in rap before which left many rappers in awe and jealous (i.e kung fu style), now bring the motherf****n' rukkus 8. Pharoahe Monch - Internal Affairs https://yoburg.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Pharoahe-Monch-Internal-Affairs-1999-Front.jpg Known for his lyricism and complex delivery Pharoahe Monch finally went solo and dropped this gem which will still sound fresh even in the next twenty years, pure hip hop 9. Saigon - The Greatest Story Never Told The greatest debut by a rap artist after illmatic, If you're a hip hop fan then your collection isn't complete if you don't have this album, do yourself a favour and go get this album, it doesn't matter if you buy it, steal it, burn it on empty cd, download it illegally or pirate it, you just have to get it no matter how, your ears will thank you for it 10. Mos Def - Black On Both Sides Mos Def collaborated with Talib Kweli in '98 and released the critically acclaimed black star album. Black on both sides was his debut as a solo artist and after he set the bar so high together with Kweli Black on both sides was eargerly anticipated by fans and it did not disappoint, one of the greatest debuts out there which set the bar too high even for Mos Def himself since everything he released after this was mediocre at best but he was able to redeem himself when he dropped 'ecstatic' below is saigon's the greatest story never told album cover. Thank You for reading my post, i'd like to know which rap albums make your top ten.

Who listens to classical music here? My favorite composers are: 1. Shostakovich 2. Rachmaninoff 3. Tchaikovsky 4. Mahler 5. Dvorak 6. Sibelius 7. Beethoven 8. Mozart 9. Vaughn-Williams 10. Strauss |
kay29000: Hahaha! I guessed right, you are an Immortal Technique fan. It tells me a lot. No reason to continue this discussion. You could have said: ''are you a fan of immortal technique?'' and i would have openly said ''yes'' instead of asking me to list you 5 rappers when you know you're looking for one name. You've lost the battle. now go create a new hip hop list, and a real hip hop list this time, then we can talk. i can tell you now realize how trash your list is, you just hate to admit it. |
Your list is garbage anyway. No matter which way you look at it. Are you trying to say Nas,For instance analysing the five rappers you singled out you listed 12 jay z albums but only two deserve platinum status, i.e reasonable doubt and blueprint, end of, the rest are trash. All snoop dogg's albums are trash and if you so much so as even listen to rhythm and gangster you will be proving how dumb you are. Nastradamus too don't deserve to be on that list. eminem last three albums also shouldn't be on that list unless if you think relapse and recovery are great rap albums and dmx, oh my, please don't tell me you mentioned dmx. Only his first two albums are platinum material but the rest belong in the trash can. So mr you get one strike for your list, 2strikes for saying immortal technique lacks creativity in creating music, 3strikes for listening to the radio |
kay29000: Where did you see Young Jeezy, Ja Rule, 50 Cent, and Drake on the list? If you are questioning whether LL Cool J and Too Short are good, it shows you know very little about Hip Hop history. You probably started listening to rap music in the 2000s. List 5 rappers you feel are good.you did say ja rule and the rest deserved honorary mention in your list for having accomplished almost 5 platinum albums, read your original post again. And if you think ll cool j and too short are the dopest of rappers then you have so much to learn. You probably started listening to rap music in the 2000sComing from someone who thinks lil' wayne, kanye west, ja rule, rick ross and drake are even rappers. You were pretty much talking about yourself there, i can tell. Since you asked for my best 5: 1. Immortal Technique 2. Krs-One 3. R.A The rugged Man 4. Pharoahe Monch 5. Diabolic |
elektra80: Wow... I can't believe there is at least one person here that understands the meaning of rap. Guy where did u come from? You even mentioned Pharoahe Monch and KRS one. ( I actually thought I'm the only person that knows Pharoahe Monch) Those are really great rappers. I can't believe people here are calling drake, 50 cent, lil' wayne etc. These are the people that are killing hip hop. For me I will add Nas and Methodman to ur list.Same happens to me, you're not alone, when i ask someone about pharoahe or krs people would give a stare like i just asked them a mathematical equation to launch a rockett to space. Wonderful addition, Nas and Methodman are great, a few people appreciate these rappers as talented as they are (criminally neglected) though, they rather listen to a song with a title like 'h.oes in the club' and they will regard it as gangsta. It's a shame lyrics don't play a significant role this days in rap with beats being the primary focus and they want to call that rap. Why do they call it rap when they don't rap to begin with? They can do their ''h.oes in the club'' party-like, candy-shop beats but atleast they shouldn't call it rap. |
Ghostface Killah has released 10 albums as well and is the most consistent rapper of the wu tang clan with regards to solo album output, maybe not just the most consistent of the wu tang but one of the most consistent in rap history and i can't believe you guys are talking about rappers that released two albums in the same year but none of you happened to mention ghostface killah, he did it in 2006 with ''fishscale'' and ''more fish'', both albums are great and fishscale may be one of the greatest albums of the 2000s and one of my favorite of course. I usually don't go by how many sales an album sells or how many awards an artist has won with an album but i think fishscale deserved the following accolades: Accolades Fishscale was ranked as one of the best albums of the year by many famous publishers.[17] It also appeared on several lists for best albums of the decade, with Stylus Magazine ranking it number eleven.[18] Uncut ranked it number 62 on their 150 Best Albums of the 2000s,[17] while Pitchfork Media ranked it number 75 on their Top 200 Albums of the 2000s, stating "History will remember Fishscale as Ghostface's Magical Mystery Tour: an artist convinced of his own genius empties every chamber on a batshit, pseudo-conceptual headtrip."[19] In 2009, Rhapsody ranked the album at number nine on its "Hip-Hop’s Best Albums of the Decade" list. - Wikipedia. Atlast an album that deserves those merits unlike most artists that sells alot of copies and win alot of awards which they don't deserve.

kay29000: I am guessing you are a fan of Immortal Technique. He is the one that feeds this theory to his fans. Of cos he is a d.ope rapper, but there are a lot of d.ope rappers that can't make good songs, and he is one of them. There is a difference between having something to say, and having the skills to present in a creative way to people. Are you trying to say Nas, DMX, Eminem, Tupac, Jay Z are wack rappers? Because they can relate to a lot more people without losing their essence doesn't mean you should hate on them.Ok. And what have you got to say about the others? i.e 1. T.I 2. Busta Rhymes 3. Kanye West 4. Too Short 5. Lil' Wayne 6. LL Cool J 7. Ja rule 8. 50 Cent 9. Young Jeezy 10. Drake Are they that good? |
That's not an opinion but a fact. Immortal technique's ''revolutionary vol.2'' pisses on every album 2pac ever released, ... Uhm and what other artists were listed here besides 2pac? ... Uhm... Ja rule, Nelly, Drake among others, are those even rappers? Like i said before, half of the artists listed here aren't even rappers. None of the artists listed here come close to those i listed and it's a fact, sad but true! |
Because their albums went platinum doesn't necessarily mean they're the greatest rappers. Most of those rappers are even the worst rappers of all time and some of them are average at best, hence you should change your topic to albums that went platinum because clueless people ran to stores like headless chickens based on hype created by the media and the crap the radio feeds them because they can't decide for themselves what to listen to. If they could decide for themselves then they would know that there's alot of talented rappers out there which are way better than the crap you just listed but unfortunately those talented rappers don't get the recognition and their albums don't go platinum. Cruel, cruel world if you ask me, the world is run by teenagers! *sad* |
hahahaha! Half of the rappers everyone listed here are the worst rappers in the history of rap. My best 5 are 1. Immortal Technique 2. Krs-One 3. R.A The Rugged Man 4. Pharoahe Monch 5. Diabolic none of those rappers everyone listed come close to these rappers. |
If you want real music then listen to this artists Rappers: 1. Pharoahe Monch 2. Immortal Technique 3. R.A The Rugged Man 4. Atmosphere 5. Saigon 6. Wu Tang Clan 7. El-P 8. Big Pun 9. Big L 10. Cormega 11. The Roots 12. Diabolic 13. Krs-One 14. Reflection Eternal 15. Talib Kweli 16. Mos Def 17. Black Starr 18. Rakim 19. Gang starr 20. Gravediggaz 21. Q-tip 22. Common Singers: 1. Norah Jones 2. Diana Krall 3. Blue Raspberry 4. Tekitha 5. Mela Machinko 6. Esperanza Spalding 7. Erykah Badu 8. Andre Benjamin 9. Myles Kennedy 10. James Hetfield 11. Bruce Dickinson 12. Scott Stapp 13. Lauryn Hill 14. Jill Scott 15. Jonas Renkse |
Other artists which are crap but may be or may not be signed to that ymbcmb(or whatever you call it because quite frankly i don't give a flying crap what it is) crap are: Rappers: Rick Ross Soulja Boy Kanye West 2chainz 50 cent Gucci mane Wiz khalifa J. Cole Future Big Sean G-unit waka flocka flame lupe fiasco fat joe Singers: Beyonce Rihanna Chris Brown Akon Justin Bieber Justin Timbelake Usher Ciara Trey Songz R. Kelly Those artists are so terrible, avoid them at all cost! |
T-pain farts with his mouth and i don't know the music of all of the other artists you listed because quite frankly i don't give a damn about this talentless musicians which the radio glorifies and clueless fans like you who know nothing about music would run around like headless chickens going crazy about this excuse of music thinking it's the greatest when it's the worst. I feel sorry for you! |
nicki minaj is not even a rapper just a doll wannabe! Drake is not a rapper too, see the above reply. |
Drake's music is so light in the ass that if you look real close at ya speakers when you playin his joints you can see tiny little heart bubbles comin outta em son - ghostface killah list of softest rappers. |
Ymcmbmcmb is crap. Not even a single artist you listed is talented. Little wayne is the sh1ttiest rapper alive. His music is crap, he bites other artists' lyrics and uses ghostwriters to write his lyrics for him, his beats are generic and crap, his voice is awful and irritating, he relies on auto-tune, he relies on using actual singers to handle hooks in his songs, he can't rap, he can't sing, he carries a guitar which he can't play, he released a rock album which was the most terrible in the genre, he's a druggie, he shot himself, he's a jail-bird, he compares himself to 2pac when he isn't even close, he claims to be the greatest rapper alive when he is the worst instead, he's an industry biatch feautured in almost every song, he's gay because he kissed birdman on the lips, he's a disgrace to hip hop and if tupac was alive this rapper wannabe would be selling newspapers on the street or working at wimpy. |
Brilliant film. You can't believe how many times i've watched it. It's funny how the guy says he hates german cars but he couldn't start an american car. |
Who has seen this film? It's a tv-movie based on real life events about two guys who were robbing banks and cash-in-transit vehicles but the film focuses particularly on one event where they finally met their match as when they were robbing a certain bank 50 plus cops were waiting for them outside the bank. The bad guys were armed to the teeth and wore body armour from head to toe. The movie starts slow, and by slow i mean be prepared to sit through the whole 28 minutes from the start of the film with nothing major happening, of which those first 28minutes of the film are presented in a documentary style but after which the movie then becomes fast paced and the documentary style is abandoned(although not entirely but it becomes less and less after about 28minutes). There are two videos on youtube. One is the movie and the other is the real life bank robbery event which took place on the 27th of february 1997 which the movie is based on. The movie stars Mario van Peebles, Michael Madsen and Ron Livingstone. Who has seen this film? |
maedan: Who are you to tell me if I know what a movie isIt's quite clear you're unfamiliar with south african cinema. |
maedan: To be frank, the fact that you are even here on this Nigerian forum making a nuisance of yourself, is proof of all I've been saying. Or don't you have any entertaining and high-quality South African forums to inflict yourself upon? I still maintain I don't like that District 9 movie, even if I wasn't a Nigerian, I wouldn't see what the fuss is all about. What a foolish thing to say. |
maedan: I'm not sure they were Nigerians, it could have been anyone, probably South Africans. But how would they feel if in Nigeria we did a movie where we painted South Africans as racists, rapists and AIDS-infested or what ever else they're notorious for? I just think it's part of the Naija-hate that S.A. is guilty of.Proves my point. |
maedan: Thank you - and you too, please keep deluding yourself. A movie is more than a few special effects and a dry alien plot. I've had more fun watching the dumbest Nigerian home video than the best your RSA movie industry has to offer. At least your mother-in-law has some taste. World standard indeed. Dream on.Your replies seem to be full of anger or hate. It's either you're angry because nigerians were depicted in a horrendous way in the movie or you simply hate south africans and everything south african. Okay take the effects out of the movie and you will still have the picture and audio quality, storyline and acting which are better than any nigerian movie i have ever seen. I'm not trying to insult or cause a stir but the acting in nigerian movies is horrible, they tend to act the same way and never embrace the character, the storylines are terrible and are the same old, same old prince wants to marry a village girl but his family won't approve, sounds like a soap opera to me. Why are they even movies? If district 9 is a terrible movie then it's just that, a bad movie but nollywood should be making soapies instead. I'm not hating on nigeria and if they're movies were great i would admit just as i admit they're good in soccer. they're movies are just terrible. Sad but true. |
Explain how quality education could have ended apartheid now! Clearly you don't know what pressurised the apartheid gorvenment to finally give in if you say the whole world had abandoned us! |
atlwireles: I think your country was better in the days of apartheid. An average black south African needs to be caged like an ape.clearly this ain't going anywhere, i'm surrounded by stupidity of the highest order. Ain't worth my time, goodbye! |
And why are you swearing when you speak? Is that supposed to make you right or look cool? But i don't blame you, given the intellect you've just shown here! |
now i just pissed my pants laughingl! That couldn't have ended apartheid you slowpoke! |
coogar: when he was locked up, nigerians took to the streets, nigerian artistes took his matter to their recording studio and pressed for his release whilst your men were hiding under the caves running from your slavemasters.your ignorance never ceases to amaze me. Nigeria didn't fight apartheid for south africa, the whole world did. South Africa wouldn't do it alone. Stop speaking when you lack knowledge dumbass, pretending to know it all when you know next to nothing! |
There's a man who bought a brand new refridgerator, as a result he had to figure out a way to dispose of his old fridge to make way for the new one. He ended up deciding to put it outside and put a sign on it that read: ''fridge for free, you want it? U take it'' but Everyone only gave it one look and passed by because they were suspicious and thought it was too good to be true. After a couple of weeks had passed with no one showing interest, the man realised that people were suspicious and out of desperation the man changed the the sign to: ''fridge only 500 dollars''. The next morning when the man woke up the fridge was stolen. |
Oh yes, I knew you'd reply sooner or later, I saw the thread you formed about how much the movie has achieved. How come it is the first, despite your claim that SA has a film industry, that is getting any accolades. If you can't see how crappy the movie is, then you're really full of crap yourself. Even huge blockbusters from Hollywood, like GI Joe and Transformers 3 got poor/critical reviews. Some people have taste and look beyond the big noise and see a movie for what it really is. And by the way, Nollywood to me has more to offer than the so-called SA movie industry. Who has ever heard of them anyway, before District 9? Keep deluding yourself.
