EducationRe: I Never Had Sex With Any Man —21 Year Old KWASU Best Graduating Student by Rufex07(m): 2:12pm On Jul 16, 2014
To the lady, she did well. May God continue to increase you. Many are ignorant that it's on a scale of 4.00 cgpa. The journalist who interviewed the lady sensationalize the story. Meanwhile, those saying she didn't try with that result, do you think public institutions dish out marks like 'some' universities do(imagine 10 first class students in a class of 70)? Have you factored the type of environment she studied? For your information, there are some faculties that had not produced first class students in the past 5 years or more. It's not because the students were dull but so many factors are involved. Examples are cases of sadist lecturers who can never award grade A in your script, missing scripts, cgpa miscalculation etc.

That's good. Nigerians don't appreciate their own. If it were a foreign coach that demand that, you will see Nigerians saying we can pay. We don't believe in continuity. If Wenger were a Nigeria's coach, his head would had rolled after the first season. Alas, he his still coaching Arsenal FC till date. Meanwhile no coach had ever achieved what he has achieved within the same time frame. Let's grow up.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: State Your Job Interview Experiences Here by Rufex07(m): 2:31pm On Jul 06, 2014
Golden Dr.:
I am a lucky guy. Luck however, is a function of your ability to convert chances. After sending all the CV’s both hard, soft and semi soft copies; After networking with people you don’t like; After making unsolicited visitations at your rich uncle’s place every week; what do you do when God opens a way…? I shall focus my story along the lines of grabbing opportunities for keeps. My colleagues have done enough justice to scouting and cv submission...
You must understand that not everyone that applies for a job gets invited for a test or interview. Getting an invitation is an opportunity to prove yourself and the only thing you need to succeed is PREPARATION. Because of the huge population of undergraduates, most aptitude tests are not designed to test you but fail you. The first aptitude test I wrote was PWC’s. The test was not very hard but I failed it. After that test, I knew I had to read. I borrowed GMAT and any material I could lay my hands on and devoured them (If I had read in school the way I read GMAT, I for come out with first class). When I wrote the second test, it was straight success!
Preparation point 1: Read! Don’t just read GMAT, read everything; even abnormal books cos sometimes, you will find abnormal tests. Most times when I’m free, I take up my past textbooks and read them. One day, it paid off handsomely. It was a second stage interview and I was badly dressed as usual, ugly shoe, awkward shirt and worse of all, no Jacket. I was the only one without a jacket. The interview drill was for you to walk into the room, pick a piece of paper from a basket and talk about whatever you find on that paper for 2 mins after thinking about it for a minute. The interviewers were stern looking men who would not utter a word even if you were saying rubbish. They would just tell you ‘thank you’ at the end of your presentation. When it got to my turn, I picked and saw “performance”. I tried to think but nothing came in, so I stopped thinking and started talking. At the tail end of my presentation, I remembered one of Peter Drucker’s quote in one of our text books and quoted it. By the time I was through, one of them looked at me and asked – which school did you graduate from? I knew then that I had represented you guys well and that even the witches in my village would be proud of me! Like you rightly guessed, I passed with flying colours (yellow, green and blue).
Preparation point 2: Become your CV. I shared my first interview experience here sometime ago and told you guys how I was battered by the interviewer. Interestingly, I passed the interview. But I knew that I had a long way to go if I was to succeed at other interviews. I knew that the interview seminars were not enough. Funnily, all the questions came from my CV. The man looked at my CV and said, “so you are team player?” I smiled and said yes, but when he asked a question and I answered, he told me that I was not a team player. I was angry and argued with him. I later got to understand him thanks to Ephraim. Make sure that you can defend your CV. This is very important. Don’t just put big words and powerful skills that you cannot defend. If you don’t know the meaning of anything on your CV, go and learn it now or remove it! In one of my interviews, I was told to describe how to put a table in a word document because I wrote on my CV that I could use Microsoft word and Excel.
Another catch here is to create a story line. Defend all your skills and abilities with past stories, even if they are lies. Just ensure that the stories link together and you don’t get caught lying. Most graduate trainee interviews would be focused on your aptitude and skills cos you are not expected to have experience. They would love it if you can defend your skills. If you claim to have leadership skills, tell them a story of a time when you were the class rep, choir master, youth coordinator etc and exhibited such skills. If you claim to be able to work in teams, tell them of a time when you contributed actively to a team. In one of my interviews, I carried some of my amateur artworks to prove my love for art. The interviewers marvelled and their love for me grew. To prove my leadership skills and ability to work in teams, I told them of the times when I led troublesome assignment groups in school and was able to coordinate uncooperative team members to beat assignment submission deadline. There are no irrelevant experiences as far as they can prove your point. Not all my stories were true but they all linked perfectly! My interviewers were just nodding their heads. I knew I had passed. If your hobbies are playing football, please go there with a ball and jog a little (I am serious!).
Lucky guy indeed but with a Nairaland female gender. Nice write up!

Of Agriculture Umudike wherE I schooled , I played active roles in d std activism, when I gained admiddion in 2008 I was determined to make firstclass n was not dt interested in std union but when I made my first CGPA after 2nd semester year one, I started geting calls from my friends n departmental mate to contest for a position in d SUG ,although because of my high grade I was already becoming very pouplar in d campus, so I was almoat every wia, I reprEsented my college in d den university wide debate , presented my departments general speech before the whole school n d organisers recognised me specially amidst more 7o presenters, everything was almost set for me to test my Popularity, after much presure form coleagues I vied for my departments Se Gen, a position reserved for finals only for me to xperience my greatest shock, I was rigged off the victory in A broad day ligth dt was wen I get to knw dt departmental elections are won even b4 electns . I promised my self dt am no going to vy for ant election again in dt school, but it was long wen pressure started coming again,u got a very high CGPA, whyno go for SUG given d fact dt our department hav neva won any sit executive positin inn d suh, I decided to give it a trial a contested and one the position of Director of pubblic relations amdidst treats to life, blackmails, opposition n attacks, it was my first experience on general election n it realy tot me lessons n I realiseed the saying dt politics is a dirty game, whilE I was presenting my manifesto , people later came to me nad adviseD me to live upto expectations telling me dt I hav alreadywon dt election n truth to dia prophesy I won my opponents all in dia finalls with a wide margin, I woudntforget 905. For den I was in my 200L. I over heared ppl say I wasn't fit for DPR but president. So I strated pconsidering d highest position in d SUG d 001 as Ppl will call it. because of my antecedents at d poll and d fear dt I may wnt to succeed my den presiden. Coupled with d fact dt I wasn't in d same faction with him during d campaigns, my den 001 fustrated all my efforts, all d proposals I sent to him were never approved, infact my budget to d students representatives council was slashed n I was so fustrated but lnowing my future ambition I hav to deliver so as to be electable to d office of d president. I really worked most times with ma personal finAnces. Atlast. I contested amidst opposition from all angles, management, dean of std affairs, imcubency etc. But d end they say justifies d means. When I won d election. In September 2012. It was a dream come true, I became the talk of d town,as the first president from my dpt, faculty, I gain acceptance hav to travell round the country almost never around for lecture, although it affected my accademics sm how. But d connection , cash n sundry is worth it. But dnt forget, it ahs its cons too, the cult groups, aattcks ettc

PoliticsRe: Development Projects In Ogun by Rufex07(m): 8:54pm On Dec 13, 2013
I visited Ayetoro just on Monday to do something, but as I was approaching there from the local government Secretariat what I saw was a miracle. I asked the passenger beside me if I had not boarded the wrong bus to Ayetoro. Lo and behold a saw a six lane road been constructed. The work going on there is just massive. Same goes with Joga road and other places. In fact, I heard the indigenes saying Ayetoro is now a 'small London'. The statement I could mainly say was 'God bless this government'. I was also at the new Secretariat at the Governor's office the next day and I was so Impressed at the serenity and carriage of the government workers. They attended to me professionally unlike a state I went to serve. There is still a lot to do. Inasmuch I hardly trust government, my recent experience is making me to have a rethink. NOTE: I lived in Ayetoro for 6 years before leaving for service. The transformation is taking place less than a year I last visited. God bless Ogun state, God bless Nigeria!
