MisterBanny:
Good morning Nairaland family. I'm sorry for Posting this here, and I seek for forgiveness from the Mods.

As I type this, I'm really very angry. My neighbor is pushing me to the wall. Now, I live in a room self-con and so is my neighbor too. We are the only tenants in this particular compound.
This guy is an electrician. In his Mid-fourties, unmarried & highly irresponsible. He doesn't get along with the entire neighbors in the neighborhood. He doesn't even pay his rents until the landlord takes him to the police station before he would pay.
Our prepaid meter is in debts of almost 500k. We have written to the NEPA to do something about it since we know nothing about the debt on the meter. Initially, we would recharge & we'll only get 50% of whatever we recharge while the other 50% will be taken by the Meter. Now, the meter takes every recharge we make without leaving any units for us to use, so we've stopped recharging until the landlord fixes the Meter. Sadly, the landlord cares less since he doesn't live with Us.
The neighbor who is an electrician now bypasses the meter & connects light to his room alone leaving me in darkness all night. He usually does the bypass at Night and wakes up early in the morning to disconnect it since our compound isn't fenced. The neighbor is a Chelsea fan as I am. We talk football together some times and I can't understand the meaning of this. I have confronted him and all he could say was, he thought I had been having light each time he does the bypass. He knows I don't. It's deliberate and I don't understand his reasons. This same guy would disconnect me from having light any time I'm unable to quickly contribute money with him to recharge the prepaid when we were using the prepaid. So wicked and callous.
I'm losing it and I want to take actions now. I need your advice please
Oga, you are asking to join someone in a crime it is not what you should quarell about. Call him aside and stylishly beg him. Let your pride down. It is possible he is expecting a bribe from you since he feels his expertise gives him an edge over you.

Nigeria is a den of criminals
Family / Re: Should I Call Off My New Relationship Because Of This?? by ruffhandu: 2:17pm On Sep 14, 2023

"I am a Nigerian student living in Scotland, A Nigerian Christian guy got in touch with me via WhatsApp and asked for a relationship, saying he got my number off a church whatsapp group that I haven't been to for almost a year now. He said he's prayed about me and God has told him we are good to go. He is a student too.
I was single at the time and haven't been with a Christian brother before, so I decided to give it a chance. It's roughly 2 months and I am at the point where I want to quit.

We got talking on the platform and also through calls, about a week into our relationship/talking stage he asked me to come to his place and cook for him so he can have enough food for the coming week. I was surprised because we hadn't even seen each other at that at time. I told him I cannot, he made a big deal out of it and said stuff like it's not a big deal for me to do that as his wife to be. We got over that and arranged to see for the first time, he suggested my house and I said I don't feel comfortable with either of us seeing for the first time in our houses and we finally concluded on a Bugger King outlet which isn't far from my house. This didn't go well with him tho.

We met for the first time and talked, after that he said he wanted to know my place as it isn't far from Burger King. He came to my place and stayed in my bed till around past 10pm, he tried touching and kissing, I told him I wasn't comfortable and he needed to leave because of time. He got annoyed said his intentions was to stay over at my place, he already told his housemate he isn't coming back home and it's so late now to go back. I told him I cannot allow him sleep at my house for the first time we're meeting, I have a small single bed and you intentionally didn't even say you'd sleep over before. He grudgingly left and dropped 3 packs of youghurt and a bag of unfried chips which I later discovered where all expired at the time he dropped them.

I told him about it and he made a mess out of the situation. He attends a pentecostal church and critisizes other churches, he doesn't really believe in adult taking responsibility for their actions as the devil is most likely responsible for everything, we simply have to pray against the devil.
He's asked for sex multiple times in less than 1 month, I stopped talking to him one time for about 2 weeks and we picked up again. He said he doesn't have to penetrate, we can do every other things to satisfy our flesh. He said doing all that with him is the proof of my love for him which I have strongly disagreed. Sex isn't a prove of love, we are adults and can have protected sex with anyone without loving them.
The only single thing I enjoy about him is that we communicate well, he talks a lot too and that makes our communication half argument, he finds fault in any little thing and blows it out of proportion. I have told him I don't have strength for argument in marriage since we won't be arguing over minute things that get him pissed off now.

Both of us have been getting multiple 12 hours night shifts from work and two nights ago, he asked me what he was going to eat when he gets home the following morning, I knew he was up to something. I told him I can't say, we don't live together and I don't know what you currently have at home. I suggested he buys bread on his way back home. He then asked me to cook for him to eat the following morning, I sincerely let him know I have no soup or stew myself. His response changed and he later called me on same subject, citing how I don't care enough about him to be concerned about how he is gonna eat since he's been working few nights now, he compared himself to a married man that always brings food to work at his workplace. Even gave the guy his phone to talk to me, that one too said I should do things in my power to make my man happy.

I tried to make him understand he isn't married and it might be difficult to enjoy what his married frnd is enjoying. Youve never bought me foodstuff, you haven't worked before and sent me 50 pounds or less for groceries, we are both working night shifts and I sort my own food, why are you angry I can't make out time out of my rest period to come cook at your house to stuck your fridge?

I have been in relationship where I cooked, I personally enjoy cooking, but I have never been with a man that feels to entitled to me doing that for him. He says I'm supposed to be the one cooking for him. He also believes in women abroad sharing bills, but he is too traditional to share house chores"

Now you are seeing all the red flags, but, either you will want to be deceived by 'the Lord told me', or just to rush into the arms of a 'loveless' marriage because of 'stupid love', tomorrow you will join that man to blame the devil.

It is clear here that your spiritual values differ. The man is not born-again, I am not so sure you are. You both live in Europe and experiencing the same, yet he wants you to act like you both live in Nigeria, without him doing what Nigerian men do for their nigerian lovers/partners. You and I know that you cannot be to that guy a complete 'naija wife' based on the fact that you have been exposed to UK social environment where women wield the kind of power they do. Also, if you are a christian, you should have it in mind now that you cannot be getting married with divorce in mind.

Now hear me, that guy never heard anything from God anything, lust is pushing him, he just needs a girl to satisfy his sexual desires, and I like the fact that he is upfront about that one. For you, you should have prayed about it, that is how christian ladies make their own shakara. Try and dig into his past relationships, his family background, and all you need to know.

I seem to have talked too much, but, a stitch in time saves nine. It is still early to call it quits and pray to God for a man that will cherish you. For the expired food he brought to you, perhaps he works in a grocery store of some sort, but he shouldn't have given you those, those should be for his personal consumption. Or, if he must give, he should have given it at least a day before expiry and informed you to consume immediately. Such things na to chop for the day, no be to give another person.

Be reasonable since you don't have the Holy Spirit to guide you. Just try and interact with more godly men, and when God sends one who truly loves you, you won't even ask for a second opinion.

story 1:
i had an uncle who always complained about his job.
he worked in an oil company.
he told me to pursue my dreams (i used to be a music producer in the university) and how life is not all about making money
he complained he didn't have time for his family and how we wishes he could spend time with his children
he complained about how he's underpaid compared to expatriates
he complained so much, we (the family) actually had pity on him
long story short, we had an insider in the company (from our church) who told us,
my uncle was the person blocking my elder brother from getting a job in same company
he (the insider) was shocked we were related to him (my uncle)
he called our uncle in my fathers presence, who told him: do you want that small boy to overtake me in the family
my uncle didn't know the phone was on speaker!!!
this was 2008.

its easy for a beautiful girl with so many rich suitors to tell her 'not so fine' friends with only one suitor life is not about marriage
its easy for a rich person to tell a broke person life is not about money
its easy for someone in canada/US/europe to tell you in Nigeria the grass isn't greener abroad

someone who doesn't buy fuel for gen,
someone who doesn't sleep with multiple lecturers for marks in the university
someone who isn't slapped, abused and insulted in the hospital (like it happens in teaching hospitals in Nigeria)
SHOULD NOT TELL NIGERIANS ANYTHING ABOUT RELOCATING ABROAD

Based on the topic, without reading through, I support you 100%. Some those people are just foolish by leaving the country, not coming back, and yet advising others not to leave. They should simply advise others what to expect, the mistakes to avoid, etc. Most of them are wicked people who wants others to keep revering them.

Let me go and read your post now.

Why can't she live in her own home? The emotional comments on this thread are pathetic.

Men supporting men in the mud.
You mean bringing another man into her late husbands home? Listen, the home is hers as long as she sticks with her late husbands offspring, the moment she chooses to attach to another man, she loses those rights. The new man wretched like that?

efelicity:
I live with my mother, a single mother, since I lost my dad over a year ago and we haven't been having issues until recently
The problem with my mother is that she wants to remarry but I never wanted that because she planned to move in to the house my father built.

After a heated argument, she claimed the house as hers but I rejected! I didn't stop her from marrying any man but what I am against is moving the man into my father's house. More to that, she planned to open a business for her husband to be on my father's land. I know the consequence of allowing that to happen: he will later claim the land.

Since my mom met this man she stopped treating me like a son. One of her sisters told me that the man was disturbing my mom to send me out of the house so he can move in asap.

When I approached my mom with this, she cursed me because she believes I'm against her will.

How do I prevent this man from taking what belongs to me?

Approach your relatives and summon her. She can remarry, but whe has to leave the former husband's household, go raise a new family in your new husband's house. Make it clear to her. And also find a way to reach out to your maternal uncles (her relatives) and summon her there too. Let your maternal uncles reach out to the new husband and read the riot acts to him. She cannot do what she wants to do, let her marry and go with her husband, not in her late husband's house.

I had this girl I met in year 2020 during the covid period. It was hard to get her. She was much younger and had more attention.

During that period I was out of jobs and was struggling. I hardly had enough to take care of myself but she did not trouble me much. She was in the habit of buying things for me no matter how little it was. I was also reasonable enough to buy her more.
know if it works but I feel strange about doing it.

You told us how hard it was for you to get her, now you are saying she has olevel. Oga, what exactly do you want? Perhaps she has sensed the chameleon in you and decided to secure her future to avoid heartbreak.

Let me inform you, if you are not ready to marry her, please let her go now. Be warned, that oat is as effective as poverty with APC. If you take it, then no going back, there are spirits responsible for ensurung the oath is kept, if you break it, your life will be so miserable if you are not dead.

Send her to some highest institution if you love her and the Educational level is the problem. But I am 100% certain both of you can start a home now, I speak as an MOG.

Just another means of generating revenue. If all countries just pause travel to the UK for 2 months, believe me, they will reverse this policy, or make it free. These people are just taking advantage of the premium placed on them by other countries, especially poorer ones.

Please what is your advice, should l go ahead, or wait and expand my income, l dont want to marry as a man and start suffering abeg.
You shouldn't be seeking people's opinion on this, you know yourself. It would have been different if you're planning to move to Abuja and then seeking Abuja residents' opinions. You know yourself, you know the lady you are planning to settle down with, you know how much you are able to save as a bachelor. Answer yourself please.

But, I put it to you, there are people earning minimum wages in Abuja, lifestyle is defined by the person and the environment, it is a mix

peretei2024:
My fellow Nairalanders,

Tell me why I must forgive my daddy and my Late Mummy.

I was 4years while my elder Sister was 6years when my daddy and my Mummy had a serious misunderstanding, so few weeks later, my daddy was transferred to Kaduna from Lagos being a Solder ( who knows I he was the on that requested for that).

On one fateful day, my Mummy went to the market to buy some stuffs in the Market, then here com my Daddy's younger Sister( Aunt) with a vehicle. She forced I and my elder Sister to the vehicle and moved is straight to my Daddy's village in Ondo State. We cried, cried ,
and cried but our tears couldn't saved us.

Finally we landed in a village where there is no light, no hospitals, no good schools, in the hand of strange people we don't know.

Remember I said we were moved when I was 4years. Now at 5years in the village, daddy never visited, mummy never visited, so I had to start tapping Palmwine just to raise money to start my Primary school in the village. After a year or so, I was able to get some money to pay for my Primary school. I decided that I can't continue with this Palmwine tapping at this year, so I work hard and raise some money to start selling bottles of kerosene to sponsor myself from Primary to Secondary school.

When I was in JSS3 , my Elder Sister got pregnant for a guy out of frustration and betrayal from the path of our Parents who abandoned us for years. Our Uncle in the village who never care about us , informed my daddy that his daughter is pregnant for a guy ooh, then my daddy said the guy must marry her . Finally the guy agreed, then my daddy who never visited us for over 15years came down to the village because of the money he will collect.

After marriage rites, I was taken to Lagos by my elder brother.

Note: my Mummy whom I never see for over 15years knicked me out of the house after spending just 1week with her in the house. Her complain was that I believe like a bush boy.

My elder Sister is still married to the guy in the village and she can't even express herself in English, and this is a lady that was born here in Lagos.

Tell me how I will forgive them after going through hell because of selfish Parents.

My mummy died 4years ago but I didn't even know where her grave is because we were never in good terms and till tomorrow, I will not forgive her not even my daddy.

I was surprised to see "elder brother" in the story. Where did that come from. I hope this unforgiveness had not/won't hinder your progress. You should be making this post after you have made it in life, then go and show face in your village, and let it filter into you father's ears (in case he doesn't live there now) that you have made it.

Nä so I watch one irresponsible man bagging his son to forgive and take him in now that the young boy has money, meanwhile he drove the boy out of his house when he was 12 because he married a single mother with 3 children. The shameless man thinks by just saying sorry pains disappear.

But to be honest, from what I have seen, many Igbos in SA are not educated. Most educated Igbos in SA are professionals. I stand to be corrected, Most Igbos in SA who are wealthy are criminals. I don't see anything that takes an uneducated nigerian to SA if not crime- drug especially. If you tell me you live in SA and you are wealthy, I just stay away from you because I know there is 99% chance that you are a criminal. Now I hear some have started moving from drug to robbery, yahoo and yahoo plus. But the cash tree for Igbo boys in SA is drug+jazz. They don't need education because they have a community there.

But for the data, I used to think SW is most educated going by the advantage they had early, even during the war, since the Igbos had stiff set-back, during and after the war. But the recent stats actually push SE states up, states like Anambra, Imo, Abia on the education platform. Check the cut-off marks for Unity schools. Anambra, according to stats, seems to truly be the most educated in Nigeria. But states like Ebonyi I thinks pushes SE lower on the ladder.
