a V6 engine can be filled with 60k, not a V8 engine. My friend filled his Jeeps two to be precise and he shouted when he was charged almost close to 300k

Same experience here. So, I don't speak against the woman, this one is not a clear cut case of stealing.

250k per 1 jeep.
But if you look at it critically, this may not be too outrageous considering the price of fuel now. It is about 8hrs trip. They may have to fill the tank 3 or 4 times throughout the trip, and to fill the tank once may cost about 60k. She chop money, but this is what the average Nigerian thief will do. The typical Nigerian thief will use 15m for this trip. Our president will spend 30m on this same trip with 4 Jeeps.

I weep for Nigerians, they don't know they are sitting on a keg of gunpowder. You will be surprised this will just be waved like a normal thing.

I am considering subscribing Mtn 1TB data plan for 100k.I think in the long run it saves money.
For where? The OP is complaining that 150GB disappeared in 4 days, meaning that 1TB will be exhausted in less that 1 month.

For extreme use, you need an unmeasured data

Well, maybe you're right. I think you should do the math though so you know for sure that the actual number is 200, 300, 400 or more. Makes it easier to plan and it'll reduce arguments.

Please make sure the kids are eating more fruits than ice-cream though. If you're spending 700k on healthy food for them, I'll not argue at all. But if it's chocolate and other highly processed food, I'll keep disturbing you on this page until you give them better diet.

The kids only have those sweet candies once in a long while. They are fed with mostly naturäls.

then don't add money, you should take some decisions and stand by it. If she ask for more money and you don't have to give her, she will definitely adjust. Don't just add money any more, if you can't remove. She definitely adjust when she see your seriousness. Your wife have been the one making decisions your home that is why is hard for you to take decision. If you don't stand on your ground, you wouldn't be able to change it. Fall for me and I fall for you na dey make marriage dey sweet oh. If one person dey always dey fall, the day that particular person refuses to fall, whala (problem) don start. Take the best decision that will benefit you and your family, not the one that will causes high blood pressure. Change is constant in life.

It's hard to give advice about these things cos there's always so much information missing or misunderstood, and the one giving advice probably needs advice themself.

I just don't think things are now so expensive that even 200k shouldn't cover the usual household needs, outside school fees and clothes.

I think it's important to know what the recurring expenses are and how much those cost, separate from additionals than pop up randomly.

I wish you all the best. I hope you are able to figure it all out

I don't think 200k will cut it for me. Dry fish alone for the month costs 20k. Yam is about 4k per tuber. I know some people live below 100k, but people different. If I earn 150k per month, I no go kee myself than to try and live like a pauper. But the honest truth is, if I am single and earning 200k net, I may not marry yet.

First of all you made a big mistake giving her 700k as upkeep in this economy, and unless you're saying you don't know your wife very well, you should have known how she is especially with money and help cut down on many things. 700k is too much to spend in a month and still say it's too small. What if you could only bring 100k, won't your family survive? Cut down drastically and enforce a certain level of management with her. If she is not willing to help and adjust then you have a problem in your hands.
My brother, my salary as far back as 2006 as a very young fellow was 1.6m pa. If I can afford only 200k by now, then I will be of all men most miserable.

Dear poster, As a mum of 3 kids and a help
Cost of living is soooo expensive

700k is a big money that does little to nothing in this economy.
My standard of living is not high, we are a little below average.
We no dey drink bottle water, na pure water we dey drink.
We don't give our kids freshly squeezed juice, we give packaged low budget juice.
We don't take scrambled eggs alongside our tea...except on special days.
We don't have a car to fuel but we do have generator to run.

But if you calculate the money spent, you'd be shocked.
Don't let these people talk down on your wife's efforts.
They castigate her for giving freshly squeezed juice and giving refined clean water to the kids ....and you are not seeing it as poverty mentality?

As a mum myself, I aspire to offer my kids such healthy lifestyle...who no like better thing?

Why we strive to be better is to be able to offer our children the best possible.
It will be a shame, if you can afford such for your family and you don't!!!!!

If I have the funds, I'd do that and more!!

Don't compare yourself to others because they live off 50k monthly....or would you like to be in such level so you go follow they "enjoy" wetin dem dey "enjoy"??.

The only time I'd be concerned is if you can no longer afford to give your family such good life. But if you can and you think its a waste, then you should be ashamed of yourself (respectfully).

Thanks for your sincere and humble advice. Of course I brought this here to sift through and get some sensible advice, and perhaps apply wise solutions I had not thought of.
For the juice, when I was earning less, we used to quarrel a lot because I felt it should not be everyday (I used to advise to dilute it with water to make it plenty, but she no dey gree that one. I felt the nutrient is not lost, only that the concentration reduced).

For the water, I approved the bottled water after lots of back and forth. Then I decided to let it be to observe their health. I let it be afterwards.
Yes, I believe I should give the best I can afford, but my philosophy is to always have cheapest alternatives, I no care what others think about me.

Oh boy ! Your wife is fleecing u! I know how stocking the house works! If u stock up with 700k u will def have spill overs, how da hell would 700k be the consistent stipends monthly if not fleecing!!

I have managed families when nig was worse and better, trust me even with the situation, u can't av a consistent stipends unless u ar lieing or ur wife has something she's doing with ur money

That's my strongest argument. It's a concern I am working hard to put under control.

You are playing with fire if what you said is true.
You need to man up and act like yoy6 have been converted to contract staff due to the prevailing economic condition .You should come home with a sealed letter that confirms the conversion from a staff to contract, fully stamped signed by the management.
Then half of that money should be cut off for strictly savings if what you are saying is true.

You are not only doing yourelf Good by saving more but also preparing the wife ,kids and extended for any eventualities that might happen in the future.

The wife and kids won't be able to handle live if you lose job or sickness comes.

Wise up
I cannot pull that one off due to her knowledge of my position at my workplace. The only prank I can play now is to claim that I have bee relieved of my job.

What happened to CWAY dispenser water?

Buy like 5 - 10 bottles and keep. When you finish 8, you go refill it.

Switch to solar energy if you buy fuel or diesel to power the house. With 3.5M you can setup 3.5kva solar inverter system using Growatt inverter, Jinko solar panels and Pylontech lithium battery. These you can get from Fouani store.

Tru tru, you need to shine your eyes unless you have an oil well somewhere that won't dry up if you get hit financially.

Prepare for old age as you give your kids a good life.

Recommended book: The richest man in Babylon by George Samuel Clason

Both of you should read it.

Finally, go through this post >> https://www.nairaland.com/5322792/ubunjas-miseducation-how-women-gold

Na that initial setup cost dey push me back. Have an inverter system, but not integrated with solar yet. I am working on that though, because I only need the panels, but I am afraid it may not power all devices.

Bro set all the jokes aside. I have lived in the UK for decades even before you were born(an assumption) You are still a child going by your ideas and know nothing. Due to your age I will cut you some slack so you can let experience teach you rather than me.
Stop watching videos of scammers online trying to teach you about real estate investments and owning property. Take it from someone heavily invested in real estate in the UK.

Please don't repeat the list of nonsense you wrote earlier in the midst of Educated people

Lastly it is only a fool that believes a story of someone that spends almost N700k on his wife monthly but still lives in a rented apartment were he pays a meagre N3M.

You should have mentioned a balanced comparison. 700k monthly to 3M pa is the same ratio as 175k monthly to 750k. Make your point make sense to me biko.

You have not seen people who pay 5m as rent in this same PH? Come on, stroll around bro.
